The geometry and proportions on this is intense. There's a lot of physics involved too. Origami rotational folding is not a new idea however the implementation of such idea into furniture is. Folding doors is one of the oldest ideas however rotation and folding isn't. Retraction is another old idea but retraction with reconfiguration through displacement isn't. I'm glad that such ideas are reaching everywhere. It's always beautiful seeing them everywhere.
🙏 Namaste,Many many thanks to share your art.. It's lovely to know about how to make kinetic door... Receive Greetings from India. Mahesh(Mumbai,INDIA)
AHHHHH I never saw this comment! Thanks Lindsey! and im now realizing I dont have a nickname for you and I wanted to use one there.. I almost went with "LK cooking" but need something better than that.
Might be cool to use barrel hinges like the kind used in jewelry/ring boxes. I think they’d be more subtle/hidden. Either way, super cool idea, and I like it on a desk.
Hey I'm thinking of a similar project, but I'd like to know more about how you made the centre circular hinge between the two panels. I tried researching a way to make two panels rotate like that, but cant find anything. You used a bearing, but how did you connect the pieces specifically?
So the center connection starts at 2:01 in the video I attach the bearing to triangle that will be on the bottom. the top triangle then gets that piece that I added on at 2:06 (but stated at 1:17 in the video I would have cut around but to fix that I glued on the additional piece) So now the bottom triangle with the bearing is overlapped by top triangle and they can be connected by the knob I installed. Hope this helps.
MIKE!!!!! Hope you are doing well and staying safe!!! Yeah man miss working with you too. I actually just moved on from that gig, theyll be in touch with you as things pick up. Keep in touch!
Hii. I love your design. And build by far from all I've seen. I would like to build a heavier door possibly mixed with resin and live edge wood. Is their a way to get info. On design build from you including where to put strong magnets. How can we get intouch via email thanks
I dont have anything written up for this, sorry. basically the door is made of 2 perfect squares and each half has 45 degree angle cuts, one corner to corner and 1 parallel about half way between the first angle and the corner (where the 2 halves meet.) I never actually used the magnets as the door kinda snapped closed so I had no problem. The one thing I would like to say though is that 2 corners with the bearings on top and bottom need plenty of reinforcement and I would do what I did at 2:05 to the middle bearings so that it hold stronger
@@KevBotWorkshop great I'll let the show owner know when we get online for tonight's show. If you want to watch you can kind of get an idea of what we so. The guy on tonight used to be a panel member so it might get a little weird lol.

No, it is not new to implement that stolen door design into furniture. This is a piece of zero creativity.
What a great tutorial video. Perfect amount of information and detail. Honestly impressed that you fit so much into into a 6 min video.
O trust me its difficult to trim it down haha. Thanks for the compliment.
I love this guy. Always wondered how that is made and you shared the knowledge like a champ!

Kevin this is freaking rad!!! The geometric pattern overlay takes it over the top🙌💯

Pretty fantastic work, dude! 😃
The door looks fantastic!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Nice work Kevin!! I'm so impressed. Very cool door.
Love this. Want to see you do a big door like this
Very cool and creative!
Thanks!

Yeah that would be a great thing to try!
So cool. Wish I had one.

Nice! One can only hope this puts the epoxy fad to bed 😎
Can you please tell me how can I do this automatic
How about durability?
