What a great video showcasing important features and how we also as dog parents need to adjust our communication styles to what type of dog we have. I recognise a lot of the independent streaks even in my little teddy bear version of a wolf, (he only shares the name as he is a wolfspitz…😇) who still is part of the spitz dog family who I believe all carry some traits from more primitive dog breeds who all were more independent. And just like you describe the way to communicate with these wolf dogs we also need to use soft methods and kindness and to use his interests in order to train him. He learns super fast and loves to learn. But the minute you talk harshly to him he genuinely gets hurt and he will also talk back to you when he doesn’t like something you do. And I so much respect that in him! He wants to be treated fairly and will let you know when you do not treat him right. And I realise as I watch this that there is somewhere there a distant connection with the past. Which to me is super interesting and so wonderful! So thank you for making these interesting videos where you share knowledge about these amazing dog breeds and how different dogs behave and about their mutual ancestry among the equally amazing wolves.❣️

I just experienced a situation in which a German shepherd refused to defend its owner when even when commanded to do so. I was attempting to confiscate a starved & overexposed to the heat shepherd from some terrible awful person who had been starving her & keeping on under 3 feet of chain in the desert with no shade & he tried to sick her on me. Even though she was pretty aggressive when tied up & showed the owner love when he took her off i still had a strong feeling she would not attack me & I was right. When it came down to it she would not defend him even though he was all he knew for her 3 years of life. I chock it up to the fact that he had been depriving & neglecting her & I had been warming up to her with food & water & because I had my dog there who she was eager to play with & kept her distracted . Either way an interesting & true story which is on video & will be on my channel soon. Fortunately i was able to get her away from him when the camera was not rolling & took her to a shelter. She was a 3 year old German shepherd & she was only 24 pounds & had been in this person's care her whole life I assume for the soul purpose of intimidation reasons. This guy is living trash & is no better than that creep that tortured & killed that wolf pup in Wyoming maybe worse. Thank you for your amazing heart & content. I'm sorry for the sad story. I have a female all black straight backed German Shepherd whose parents were border patrol dogs in eastern Europe. She is 4 years old, 48kg, super fit, sociable but very protective. Recently we had an unfortunate incident with someone with a Czech Wolfdog at a restaurant. It was obviously out of control, barking and growling at everyone. Our dog had never attacked another dog until that happened but it seems that she saw it as a threat and chased it out of the vicinity. I was very surprised at the sheer aggression displayed considering that she is so good and gentle with young children.
Hi Anneka... have you heard of the Kunming Dog? It's a Chinese breed that looks like a taller version of a German Shepherd. It is also called Kunming Wolfdog and like the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog, was originally developed as a military dog. The details of its origins are kind of sketchy but I thought it's something you might find interesting to check out.
In my part of the US there is a popular breed called the Great Northern Wolf. It's 7/8ths timber wolf, 1/8th domestic dog. Most look exactly like wolves although the last one I met was all over black with blue eyes. She was a big sweetheart but then she was still a 4 month old, 140 pound puppy. I've never heard of a Great Northern Wolf attacking a person but, I agree, they are advanced breeds.
I have kept a north american wolf dog. Kali was second generation Alaskan timber wolf /East German working line German Shepherd and I have kept working line German Shepherds. Hands down the GSD for obedience and trainability.Wolf dogs when fully socialized in my experience treat humans as equals. My Kali disliked adult human females to the point where I kept her away from them. The one person she bit kicked in our door trapping her. She was trying to kill him and did break his arm it was all I could do to pull her off. She was 50/50 and liked to scare people by walking up to them snarling and yanking them off the couch by their pants leg. When their butt hit the ground she pranced around like queen of the prom loll.😊

Best breed ive ever had for loyalty BUT they are i can only describe as raw, the presa will decide the threat not you, not for inexperienced doggy lovers or the feeble people, a presa requires a calm gentle alpha type.!

I was nipped on my behind when I lost track of a Wolf dog in a yard when I was reading meters for an electric company. Because I took my eyes off the dog when the customer came home. It stayed away from me until my attention was deverted.
Did people suddenly forget, that we intentionally bred dogs from wolves for who knows how many thousands of years to remove the wild behavior and domesticate them? This new wolfdog trend tells me only one thing. That people are not using dogs for work and are only getting them as accessories. Just like this new trend of getting an exotic wild animal as a pet that's everywhere in the social media. Most of the people that have dogs shouldn't own one.
HA I had late wolf/dog trained command, sign language and gestures body, when she was 6-8 weeks old from USA good protection at house, when I not home,NAID stand for native american indian dog and kids loved my wolf/dog very well
Concidering gsds have grey wolf bred in to them many years ago with a gsd you litterly have the best of everything. They can be independent and think for themselves but choose to be with humans. They survive in the wild like a wolf. The older straight back gsds were the best of both in one. The people wanting money and fame got involved and decided I want a gsd that is prettier I want different colours. I don't need it to work it's to hyper I went more of a calm family pet. The list goes on. So they messed around and your left with slope backs hump backs with various health problems all because people didn't pay attention of what they were doing didn't do health checks or any other test to check health. As a result we have temperamental gsds with loads of health problems that can hardly walk. But they look good? No they don't. A perfectly beautiful breed messed up by people's lack of knowledge and greed. It's sad. 😢
@@sarveale They were originally a farm dog, why you would breed wolf DNA into a dog to have around livestock is beyond me. It was later when they overly narrowed the genetics and bred them to be police and military dogs that you get todays lines.
@@sarveale my understanding is that it was the NAZIs that gave the GS the slopped back because they thought that it made it look more viscous. Utter stupidity and despicable who eve did it.
Interesting video. but in my opinion its not that simple. you are right it is very difficult to make a wolf into a guard dog even if he is crossed with German shepherd and if you get more guarding ability from German shepherd you might lose wolves power so it is a double edged sword. but I don't think we should completely give up on Czech wolf-dog just yet as a capable (although independent thinking guard lets not forget that all dogs came from wolves and no one knows what future holds. right now something is missing but while wolf dog of any kind will probably never be 100% reliable guard dog. Czech wolfdog might have other qualities that may actually make it more dependable in certain situations if he is positioned in right direction. (of course this might end up being an additional breed that only uses Czech vlack as a foundation but still) and if Czech dog did keep some psychological factors from wolves then there is a decent chance that it also kept some of wolves intelligence plus the intelligence of one of the most intelligent dog breeds as well. and wolves are much smarter than dogs. some say that it is other way around but that is absolutely not true (at least when it comes to pure wolf) wolf has much higher grey matter and white matter volume in its frontal cortex than a dog. I don't know if dog has a higher neuro density but honestly I don't see a reason why it would. and if it does then the difference would have to be significant for a dog to be as intelligent as a wolf much less surpass him. also wolf's gyrification index in frontal cortex is significantly higher than that of a dog. and same is true in most areas of the brain. also TPA 2 area of the brain of the wolf has both greater thickness and much higher gyrification index than dog's. so his spatial understanding and coordination is much higher than that of a dog. which while does not in all cases means greater intelligence like frontal and prefrontal cortex does it does mean that wolf is much better in overall understanding of his environment. in in TPA1 which is the language area dog actually has slightly higher gyrification index but wolf has higher cortical thickness so it is about the same. also OCC is better in wolf than in a dog so he can detect movement better and has a better sense of direction. as far as language area that is where german shepherd part can come in in that area if one would be able to combine strengths of both dog and wolf in that area wolfdog might be superior to both dog and wolf. also we don't know what future will bring. now combining Czech Vlack with malinois and east European shepherd for example might backfire and create total psychological chaos in the new animal but no one has ever tried it and no one really knows how true or untrue this would be. also in addition one might try to add Siberian husky or Alaskan malamute to all this. there is a reason why far north they add wolves to their sled dogs. wolfdogs have lot to offer (although it probably takes not just a lot of planning but lot of luck as well) this would not improve vlack's guarding instincts but it would give it confidence to be little bit less standoffish. plus give stamina to wolf's great senses. and combined with East European shepherd and Malinois who knows what this all could lead to.
My Czechoslovak male is 50k, he lives with a German shepherd they both eat the same (chicken). the Czechoslovak wolfdog eats 2 times faster than German shepherd, so ...
Anneka thank you very much for this other very interesting video! They are two fantastic breeds,i have a male german sheperd that i love as if he were my own son. The clc is very similar to the wolf aesthetically and is wonderful but is a little more difficult to handle than the german sheperd. Have a great weekend Anneka!👍👍😍💙🐺🫶
I do adore wolf type breeds. Most types I've come across can't be let off lead though. I'm wondering if there is any type of wolf type breed (not necessarily a wolfdog) that can be trusted off lead, with training and socialising etc. I'm aware that even some non wold dogs breeds can't be let off, I had a Patterdale Terrier for 18 years and no amount of training would work on his recall if he spotted something. Now I have a Staffy/Husky and his recall is 100%. So I know also depends on the dog, just in general which are more likely to be able to be off lead and which aren't.
What do you mean by off lead? A walk in the woods or walking around a busy city street with lots of traffic, pedestrians, and cyclists? Teaching a GSD to have reliable recall in the woods should be pretty easy.
Hello Anneka, do you know about Thai Bangkaew dogs? I think a presentation of the breed would go well with the theme of your channel. I own one I found on the beach in Thailand and I can say they are amazingly protective, primitive and intelligent dogs. They were created from a mix between a golden jackal (now extinct) and a stray dog and the first specimens were kept in a buddhist monastery. Very cool story.
@@Animal-WatchThey are extremely rare outside of Thailand but you have a big channel so who knows... Or if you ever decide to take a nice vacation in Thailand!
I have one at home so I did a bit of reading and I have no idea where are you getting 25% wolf? All literature on the topic claims it is a 4th generation so 1/16=6,25% wolf
That's why breeds matter, and established breeds matter more: because you can count on a type of behavior, no ifs ands or buts. If your dog is merely a companion and has no "work" / job to do, then it may be okay. ... my $0.02.
hypocritical sentence of said companion lovers (Who is the fiercest protection dog?) a companion is not a tool but a complete member of the family, beautiful companions and the rest is not breed for temperament but of its own

Humans never cease to disgust me.
Well done for this! If it wasn’t for people like you, what would these poor dogs do 😢
@@Animal-Watch thank you for the reply. It's one of those things you hope you never see & if you do you are stuck with it until you aren't. a few people I know have said "you know you can't save every abused or neglected dog out there right" & my position is 'yes, I know, but if there's one right in front of me there's no chance in hell I can leave it like that". I would go completely rogue on the matter if I knew where there were more.
Wolfs have established pack hierarchy, if they accepted you to be their pack leader, they will look for you to protect them, not the other way around.
You would know as u were raised by the wolf's who homeschool u so u believe earth is flat.
@@Stereoempathy Yeah, you’d be surprised by how much you don’t know.
@@Zemlja_je_ravna If the Earth were flat, everyone would see the same stars in the same positions in the sky. However, as you travel north or south, you see different constellations rise and set, indicating that you are viewing the sky from a different perspective on a curved surface.
This phenomenon, known as stellar parallax, has been observed and documented for centuries, providing strong evidence for the Earth's spherical shape. And 12h at noon time we would all be under the same sun, every day, because it would be on the middle of yo pizza earth 😆
To be honest you cant say, which one is better. In my honest opinion it is only useful to ask yourself which dog suits me best. I went from GSD to Saarloos wolfdog and I now own a CSV. Never ever will I have a non wolfdog again. It completes who I am. I do mantrailing with my CSV and he excels.
Nemački ovčar je živa legenda medju psima. 👍🐕🦺❤️❤️❤️
Merci beaucoup !

My top breed choice(s):
1. Doberman Pinscher
2. German Shepherd
Great vdo mam👍👍❤beautiful dog😍😍👍
You are so kind
Wow no I haven’t
Most people don't realize that the German shepherd has wolf DNA also, the original German shepherd was made by crossing a wolf with a sheepdog
I agree but it was over 120 years ago and the wolf content has pretty much gone now
In my part of the US there is a popular breed called the Great Northern Wolf.
Wow I’d love to see!
Czechoslovak wolfdog.❤
A já jsem Čech.A znám je.😀🐺😄
Welcome🎉
Czechoslovenky Vlcak! 😊
❤Beautiful and Gorgeous ❤
My guess: Shepherd will be more obedient or a better pet, but the Wolfdog will be stronger physically.
❤❤❤God bless ❤❤❤
I knew a old guy was a soldier in Vietnam great guy he had 2 Wolf dogs the male was 25 present timber wolf 75 present German Shepherd the female was 50 present timber wolf and 50 present German Shepherd
I have a male Presa Canario, at nearly 56 and having dogs all my life from Pitbulls to American Bulldogs etc and by a mile my Presa Canario is the best at guarding me and my property, he is a big goofball but goes into beast mode if you even look at me or my daughter, frightening.!
Best breed ive ever had for loyalty BUT they are i can only describe as raw, the presa will decide the threat not you, not for inexperienced doggy lovers or the feeble people, a presa requires a calm gentle alpha type.!
Have you watched my episode on the Presa? ruclips.net/video/BK6jjUk1kBY/видео.htmlsi=85wZIuwO8OGA6s20
the old lady is 6ft 4.

You're not alone. I am the third owner of my Belgian Malinois
We make it work, I'm not perfect either 😅 my German Shepherd wolf dog is the most obedient of Malinois i have 4.
❤❤❤✨🐕🦺🦮✨👁Anneka❤thank you very much💫really video ✨
You are so welcome
Shepherds are very trainable. But make no mistake, when they are alone, they’re doing what they want to do 😂
Lovely breed.
😁
There is no better dog in the world than a GS. Family. Kids. Protection. Friend.
I agree
Anika you should do a video about the chuouia😂They are very funny and personally I have never met a furious one,Yet!
I will at some point 😄
I was nipped on my behind when I lost track of a Wolf dog in a yard when I was reading meters for an electric company. Because I took my eyes off the dog when the customer came home. It stayed away from me until my attention was deverted.
Hi Anneka🤗🖐Great❤video👏👏👏..
Beautiful❤Dogs😍💋...
I have cute,lovely,crazy Husky❤Girl😊
You are so kind
Correction, GSD work line still like the original gsd back
Yes they are. I said show line has sloped back
Those dogs are so Gorgeous.
I wouldn't take a showline GSD for protection work. I would go with a working line, but that's just me.
Agreed!!!! Preach!!!
I want a lynx
HA I had late wolf/dog trained command, sign language and gestures body, when she was 6-8 weeks old from USA good protection at house, when I not home,NAID stand for native american indian dog and kids loved my wolf/dog very well
Wow my adopted Bulgarian street rescue dog looks and behaves so like your wolf dogs ❤
I have a Romanian street dog and she behaves like a dingo. Generations of street breeding makes dogs very pack like in behaviour
It's sad. 😢
The wolf content has totally been bred out now of German shepherds. To understand zero. They are totally dog now
@@Animal-Watch Hence I said many years ago the straight back. Then people got greedy. They knew better and messed them up. X
@@sarveale They were originally a farm dog, why you would breed wolf DNA into a dog to have around livestock is beyond me. It was later when they overly narrowed the genetics and bred them to be police and military dogs that you get todays lines.
It's someone breeding wolf dogs to be more like a dog?
@@sarveale my understanding is that it was the NAZIs that gave the GS the slopped back because they thought that it made it look more viscous. Utter stupidity and despicable who eve did it.

Just gorgeous. Dog is nice looking too.
You are so kind
I'm a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog. 😘
I don’t even know what this video was about 😂 The lady…..
I have a 85% wolf she weighs 105 lb big girl stubborn and not for everybody bought her as a cub she is 7 yrs. Old now.
That’s very high to have in the house. Did you dna test her as breeders do lie often
The winner is the presenting chick. Lucky dogs.
No one will mess with Granny❤
dont forget that the most joice for special forces are the belgian malinois
My Czechoslovak male is 50k, he lives with a German shepherd they both eat the same (chicken). the Czechoslovak wolfdog eats 2 times faster than German shepherd, so ...
Anneka thank you very much for this other very interesting video! They are two fantastic breeds,i have a male german sheperd that i love as if he were my own son. The clc is very similar to the wolf aesthetically and is wonderful but is a little more difficult to handle than the german sheperd. Have a great weekend Anneka!👍👍😍💙🐺🫶
Thankyou xx
@@jeffk464 off lead in fields and woods etc. Not a GSD though, more of a Wolfy breed.
Beautiful dogs and most respective of wolves. But the most fiercest protective dog is the chihuahua.
I want to be a wolf dog in my next life and be featured here.
Huskies have a strong bite force but are too crazy and loving to use it
Hej Svenska 😊
Hello 👋
💝💝💝
That viral wolf dog looks like his coat is thick too, which I think is combined with extra weight.
LOVELY DOGS, TAKE CARE

Hello Anneka, do you know about Thai Bangkaew dogs? I think a presentation of the breed would go well with the theme of your channel. I own one I found on the beach in Thailand and I can say they are amazingly protective, primitive and intelligent dogs. They were created from a mix between a golden jackal (now extinct) and a stray dog and the first specimens were kept in a buddhist monastery. Very cool story.
Wow no I haven’t. Sounds intriguing
@@Animal-WatchThey are extremely rare outside of Thailand but you have a big channel so who knows... Or if you ever decide to take a nice vacation in Thailand!
♥️
Foxy is my cute pal and he thinks he's important
I have one at home so I did a bit of reading and I have no idea where are you getting 25% wolf?
All literature on the topic claims it is a 4th generation so 1/16=6,25% wolf
That's why breeds matter, and established breeds matter more: because you can count on a type of behavior, no ifs ands or buts. If your dog is merely a companion and has no "work" / job to do, then it may be okay. ... my $0.02.
Let's be honest, really no dog is as good as a GSD. they are the most versatile, loyal, proven dogs there are.
I agree
Talk about a thumbnail!Wasn't sure it was about dogs but she got two big Cogs!!!😂
😁
Does anyone think that her being a woman have anything to do with why the female CWolf was defiant and the male being more compliant?
Czechoslovakian Wolfson🥰🥰🥰🥰
Would you happen to know the average life span of the old dog?
Czechoslovakian wolfdogs can get to 14/15 and German shepherds usually get to 12
Basically, GSD are the best dog ever :p
hypocritical sentence of said companion lovers (Who is the fiercest protection dog?) a companion is not a tool but a complete member of the family, beautiful companions and the rest is not breed for temperament but of its own
🙏🙏🌹❤️❤️
Kane was a solid 55kg
What about health, the wolfdog do not have a slumb back ?
No they generally don’t but my Czechoslovakian wolfdog did carry the gene for DM from the shepherd dna
So... all of us shepherd owners are just ignoring those first three years, then?
😆
