I've had this mixtape downloaded for a long time but after Mac's death I started going back through his discography on some albums/songs I skipped over or didn't dig into. I think a lot of his music has aged really well from KIDS to the posthumous Circles. I feel like the music he was making at the end of his life was the best and most realized in terms of an original artistic style for Mac. Anyways the livestream they did to commemorate this project had stellar visuals and I was blown away by it so I have been spinning this one really for the first time actively listening to it. I had no idea how great this entire project is from start to finish. I love the videos of Mac playing piano and his Tiny Desk Concert is great. When he first popped on the scene with KIDS I was very stoked on his music and over the years before he died I mostly lost touch with his music aside from a few songs like Dang! featuring Anderson .Paak which is a MF hit for Mac AND Cheeky Andy. I wish I had paid more attention over the years but once he died I really saw all the appreciation from the community and realized what a role he played in early online music and rap at large. I wish he was still around as I always found him to be a lighthearted thinker. So many artists including his contemporaries new & old in rap over the past few years it feels so odd to know how many are dead. I never thought Mac would go. Listening to Faces though I really understand the depths of his experimentation which lead to the hellish disease of addiction. Mac lived a good life and touched so many with his music and I'm glad he left behind great music and it seems the people handling his memory are doing a good job so far. RIP Mac. Forever kicking incredibly dope sh*t!
The OG faces is raw an uncut which gives it that hit, they had to completely redo the diablo beat due to the duke Ellington in a sentimental mood sample not being approved
I was just nodding my head intensively and clapping from time to time watching this review. I'm so glad this album was re-released the way it was. I agree with everything you say. I couldn't have worded it better. This album is so hauntingly raw, it provides a glimpse into macs unfiltered thoughts and emotions. All of that expressed through music, presented to us for free, all those years ago. Mac is truly timeless. 92 til infinity. Thank you for uploading, it really warmed my heart to see someone honor this mixtape and mac as it should be honored. I'm beyond thankful for everyone who made this re-release possible. It really does him justice. Like you said, it fits in seamlessly with music contemporarily created, and i'm sure it will be like that for forever. It's fucking timeless. I was and still am devastated that we lost Mac, but now i realize we didn't lose him. He's very much here. And we need him, more than ever. Faces is brutally honest, and while many of us would want to look away from what it truly means, we shouldn't. It's time to wake up. This is reality, this is what happens, not only to mac. To many of us struggling. Mac is right here, for all of us to learn from. I see faces re-entering the charts right now as some (very much needed) fresh air. Ice cold. Mr Miller is here to show you some very, very real music. Now it's time to listen. And learn. I don't really know what i'm saying at this point so imma stop writing lmao but, i wish everyone to walk in light. and when you need a little help, to absorb all that wonderful energy captured in his music, music that he proceeds to give us and we'll never have to do without. Immortalized, here before our eyes. Thank you. ps: "Yeah" is the perfect addition to this album to me. What a note to end this masterpiece on. It's been on repeat since the re-release and it will be for a long time. The whole thing.
Seeing how much you had to say about the album, I'm kinda disappointed you didn't do a redux. Still happy you talked about it but would've been cool to see a number rating
I really slept on this tape back in the day. Found myself listening to it earlier this year and found I could relate more and now since it dropped again I've been listening nonstop.

at the time of its release, faces kind of showed the paths mac would take on future projects. when i listen to this again, i find myself wondering how many of these styles he could have further explored. its incredible how a large mainstream artist released clearly jazz influenced songs like Friends, Happy Birthday or Colors And Shapes, and managed to show it to a large mainstream audience.
its not re released why does he need to do that just to satisfy the core fans?? faces was re released thats why he did this. faces is my favorite project ever made but didn't flip out when he gave it a 6. its not for everyone especially how much of a journey that tape was

I have an idea that this re-issue was hard on his family. IMO it was a tasteful move for his legacy, although the darkness and references on this mixtape may be very sad to hear for ones closest to Mac. Specially being that it dropped on Mother’s Day. ❤️
When it takes like six years and the guys death for melon to say he likes the album. Lol he never completely hated the album but he made fun of it back in the day on his og review. Oh thanks dude. I always wondered what he meant.i actually thought he was referring to Hershel from the walking dead after he lost his leg. “Im walking like hershel” because the Angel dust made it impossible to walk lol
It’s really hard to stomach the line about how his tragedy will be his masterpiece, an artist like Kid Cudi has largely been able to come full circle from his lowest points especially on tracks like Reborn but Mac never had that chance he never got to make another masterpiece about beating his demons
Im very friken happy that Faces got an official release after 7 years since it's creation. Its the mixtape that made me a Mac Fan for life. However, I am a little bummed out that non of the other songs from the Faces Sessions got released except for "Yeah" (which was originally called "8:21am"). I would have loved for other cut Faces songs like "Garden Snakes" to finally be out for the public. Granted, I have a fat collection of these unreleased Mac songs, but I would still like for these songs to get officially released. Hopefully they will be in the future. But only time will tell.
That thumbalina hook is wild to listen to riding around in the car. I enjoy the new production so much more than I did originally. The extra reverb and clarity just makes it almost sparkle.
I have been LOVING this and listening to it nonstop 👌 Very glad to be able to enjoy Mac's discography. Favorite tracks have been Therapy, Diablo, Happy Birthday, Here We Go, but i just feel so comfortable with the whole mixtape. God bless Mac, definitely give this a listen if you haven't already 🙏
It’s a rough album to digest if you really listen to it. It’s hard to ignore the honesty. And can serve as a pretty strong warning for those that chose to go down that path... So truthful it seems genius.

It's only a matter of time until he gives Swimming an 8/10
I'd give it and circles a 10 but then again I could never be a non-biased reviewer
Hopefully not
Circles is a 9 and swimming is in my opinion a 5, and Faces is a 10/10, GOOD AM macs most underrated work is a 8/10 so god damn gold
@@Cat_main_apex agree with all of those scores
@@Cat_main_apex Watching Movies is a 10
Faces is my favorite music project of all time. It got me through some really hard times in college. RIP to a great man and a legend.
Not to mention how fantastic the cover is for this mixtape.
Man, I remember waiting for the email to download this tape. Happy it's abled to be streamed now. miss you Mac!
i remember the hype regarding him dropping it on mother's day. a lot of people overlook at fact
faces the best mixtape ever
Macs creativity and uniqueness was really taken for granted, his legacy will always be one of the greatest imo.
Seeing how much you had to say about the album, I'm kinda disappointed you didn't do a redux. Still happy you talked about it but would've been cool to see a number rating
check description he gave it an 8 :,)
@@user-qo1xi3fr9n OH SHIT
Lol this is my favorite string in this comment section
This project was ahead of his time. absolutely great and super sharp project.
I really slept on this tape back in the day. Found myself listening to it earlier this year and found I could relate more and now since it dropped again I've been listening nonstop.
The organization of the album was top tier, I love how his last 3 albums embody his view on the circles of life in a different way absolutely beautiful and morbid
Each time I listen to Diablo is like the first time I heard it 7 years ago. I love it
Fr.
same
I don’t get why people praising this release? The entire mixtape front to back was already on RUclips and SoundCloud, yet they choose to TAKE THESE DOWN and copyright strike if you post, so they can alter his work (remove samples, remixing *see Diablo🤮*) all to PROFIT.
Awesome seeing Mac get the love he deserves on this project.
i found mac literally like 6 months ago and hes already one of my favorite artists of all time
at the time of its release, faces kind of showed the paths mac would take on future projects. when i listen to this again, i find myself wondering how many of these styles he could have further explored. its incredible how a large mainstream artist released clearly jazz influenced songs like Friends, Happy Birthday or Colors And Shapes, and managed to show it to a large mainstream audience.
Melon, we deserve a REDUX of Swimming now that you have seen even more of Mac's music, maybe you'll change your opinion
its not re released why does he need to do that just to satisfy the core fans?? faces was re released thats why he did this. faces is my favorite project ever made but didn't flip out when he gave it a 6. its not for everyone especially how much of a journey that tape was
@@cit0110 he does redux reviews even if albums aren’t rereleased and swimming definitely deserves it.
It makes me feel good knowing soo many people still bump Mack. I've never seen support for an artist Posthumous like this. And I'm glad he's the one we chose.
Every single day
I have an idea that this re-issue was hard on his family. IMO it was a tasteful move for his legacy, although the darkness and references on this mixtape may be very sad to hear for ones closest to Mac. Specially being that it dropped on Mother’s Day. ❤️
A cool little fact, Mac Miller’s brother did the art for most of the albums and mixtapes
Tape is timeless frfr, was crying for help
Faces finally getting its (invisible) yellow flannel.
Fantano: so what did you think about the release of faces? Did you love it, did you leave it, are you nothin without it?
I'm so glad Fantano came back to give props to swimming and faces. Really shows how much fantano is trying to respect Mac's memory and legacy.
Rain with vince staples is one of my favourite songs ever.
When it takes like six years and the guys death for melon to say he likes the album. Lol he never completely hated the album but he made fun of it back in the day on his og review. Still shocks me how melon hated every Mac Miller project and made fun of his singing until he died… like how can one hate swimming but like circles when they are like the exact same😂
Facts. This guy is fake af🤣🤡
EXACTLY . This guy a clown. Fake as hell. GARBAGE . Terrible for music.
They hate when you’re a live and love you when you’re dead.
Honestly, thank you melon. The respect that you’ve shown this guy is admirable. He was my favorite artist since watching movies and I’m glad more people get to here one of his best works now
He shit on Mac for most of his career while
He was alive. This guy is TRASH . And does the music world no justice with his click bait criticism.
Faces is Hunter S Thompson esque
ahh so any album that gets a 6 will get an 8 in redux version, now i get it thanks melon
Liked this album the first time. I heard it. It has a special place in my heart. We miss you bro🎉
I’m glad you got the review right this time around
the fact that Mac was only 22 when he realeased faces is no other than insane
have a faces poster on my wall and i have a swimming tattoo on my ribs. My favorite artist of all time.
New faces V2 is the best song on the project
Walk-in like Hershel is a reference to Hershel Walker, legendary running back & Heisman trophy winner.
Oh thanks dude. I always wondered what he meant.i actually thought he was referring to Hershel from the walking dead after he lost his leg. “Im walking like hershel” because the Angel dust made it impossible to walk lol
@@ale_x263 I think they’re probably both true
No redux review?:(
this tape’s reissue has strongly reminded me of why it’s one of my favorites ever.
I’m so happy you rerated it in the description
UPDATE YOUR THOUGHTS ON SWIMMING
i miss mac so much man. he was such a talented artist. really one of the greatest artists to do it
Hopefully this means we will see some other mixtapes and obscure projects of Mac's released formally
Yea. Ticonderogas, The Network, Are We There Yet. Fire tracks
I can’t wait for my vinyl to show up. I’ll just set it on the table and lay on I an couch and consume it all. I miss Mac.
It’s a rough album to digest if you really listen to it. It’s hard to ignore the honesty. And can serve as a pretty strong warning for those that chose to go down that path... So truthful it seems genius.
This is my favorite Mac piece. Use to sit in the basement high as shit with the homies blasting it. I always go back to it. It never gets old.
The Mike Jones ad-lib on Uber is my favorite part of the project
" Yeah " clearly blowed my mind. What a pleasure to discover this mixtape in 2021. RIP Mac
I just want a formal reissue of the Delusional Thomas mixtape.
I remember downloading this tape on DatPiff, always thought it was a gem of a project
I love this mixtape first time I listened to it was about a year after Mac passed and it truly felt like Mac was talking to me from beyond
Didn't melon give faces a 6 when it dropped. For me this thing is probably my favorite album
Yeah this guy is a garbage critic .
The track with Rick Ross hit harder than I remember tbh
INSOMNIAK is a major highlight on the album .
"Yeah" breaks my heart every time I listen it 🥺…
Always thought you massively underrated this mixtape! Faces is great
anyone else remember how fantano disliked everything mac released until he died?
anyone else remember how fantano gave both Faces and Watching Movies With the Sound Off a 6 and GO:OD AM a 7?
@@PhilFoal i hear you but why tf did he give swimming a 3 but circles a 10 when circles is literally a sequel/extension to swimming
@@xiscaw he didnt give circles a 10 lmao
Yep, pretty annoying
bull.
Glad about the formal reissue. Anyone who didn’t listen back in 2014 deserves a chance to listen to this album now that it’s on major streaming platforms. Rip nd love you Mac
My absolute FAVORITE piece of art from Mac Miller "R.I.P"
