The SLO 30 is a monster amp! I completed my search for that one amp for 80's classic rock and beyond when I picked one up! And for 30 watts, it easily competes with 50 watt amps.
And music-wise this amp gives you all the little steps between clean, clean with a little dirt, clean with more dirt, clean-crunch, evil clean-crunch, crunch and so on. And that is why I love this amp. It has such a smooth distortion due to the number of preamp tubes which each add overtones, I assume. And Soldano is NOT a pure metal amp ... :-)
The interesting thing about the Soldano is: It has 5 (!) preamp tubes. 3 are in the signal path, 1 is in the path for FX send/return, 1 is the phase inverter which does not sound as a tube but only splits the waves for the power amp tubes. But 3 preamp tubes in the signal path is like the old Hiwatts (e.g. David Gilmour of Pink Floyd). The Hiwatts and Hiwatt clones are around 3000 € today, the Soldanos as well. But they are great amps!!!
@Equal LeftRights He made special arrangements to meet me at his shop while I was in town for the holidays. They were closed that day, but he made a special trip down there and an appointment just for me. He also offered me a more than generous offer on the price of the amp I was interested in. He was generous with his time and with his discounted offer. Purportedly, Mike, never discounts his amps, not even to the stars. He says he didn't even give Eddie Van Halen a discount. I'm just a nobody, but he treated me VERY well and made me feel just as important as any of the biggest stars. He's a VERY VERY cool and humble dude!!!
@@-DILLIGAF Thats killer man. And he makes a killer product. Im strictly a home player and thats why I never bought an SLO100. I just picked up the SLO30 so we'll see how it goes. Hopefully its suitable for home playing. I have a Friedman BE100 Deluxe that's tough to beat and can be played at very low volume and still sound killer. It just has too many switches and I dont know what half of them do.
Tremendous display of over-the-top 'knobery'. I'm duly impressed with his incessant but pointless micro-adjustments of the volume and tone knobs every millisecond? A fanciful but unnecessary display of ineffectual multi-tasking.
That INTRO! From The Cradle, my favorite EC album.
Man, that intro took me back to Eric Clapton documentary " nothing but the blues" nailed that sound ! Great amp
That tone at 12:48 is perfect......such great 80's crunchy goodness. Soooo articulate. WOW.

I really don't say this often, but this man's playing is truly amazing. Dude could sell water to a drowning man with his playing.
Damn that sounds fantastic!!! Good work Dr. Evil. Best video yet!! Killer!!!
Boy o boy. Incredible tone. And playing. I’m in for one.
Killer Diller of an amp!
My bucket list is complete.

Amazing lead amp for rock and blues!!
it can even do metal
What about pop punk torn on this or the dual rectifier
Nice playing! Love the way that thing sings at around 15:40 mark. Sounds very early Eddie as well \m/
Not bad , only the tip of iceberg what those amps can do, nicely done

I want to try one so bad. Great tones
7:38 to 8:15
One just has to do that with a high-end strat and an awesome amp.
looks and sounds like a beast.......nice playing btw
very nice sound, what is the speaker?
I watched that far! Great video, guys :-)
Great playing, thank you very much...
The intro reminds of why Gary Moore and Eric Clapton used Soldano amps.
Pronounced Sol-DON-o, not DAN-o. (I've hung with him at his studio while auditioning amps) He's a very cool and generous dude! All class. Cheers!
How is he generous?

Oh ok
Would be good to know the degree to which you are attenuating the signal with the Ox. Thanks, Mark
He’s not attenuating with the Ox. He’s using the onboard cabinet/mic simulation.
Cant decide this or mark v?
Opening track way too good for a demo video!
That was great ,bluesy blues :-)
Will it do pop punk?!!
I'd buy one if I didn't already have a Friedman Smallbox 50.
Great sounding amp great plYing
I can hear Warren Haynes tones with that!
Great Lenny tones
Pretty SRV tone.

"Everything's on 10. Tone's on about 8." The hell?
