You ca n never trust people to go and save the fish, because telling everyone the location is bound to attract some people who just want to catch and harvest the fish, all it takes is one group of people with nets to completely wipe out the fish populations in the local area.
The fish are gonna die sooner or later in those unfortunate conditions however you should consider letting those who have good heart go out and save whats left.
Great videos and great efforts. Just remember that mother nature does what she does for reasons. We may not like the look of it sometimes but it could be her way of feeding other species. ✌
I noticed ponds like this just behind/beside dunes on Mustang Island on a scout outing in 1967. Never occurred to me that there might be fish in them. Darn it!
Props to you! It's obvious you love our fishery & are trying to save some from certain death as the ponds dry out. Seems a larger holding tank is needed.. may be a kiddie pool in a pickup bed. I am surprised these fish survived the freeze.
durn i knew somebody was gonna say it first. lol, like, inwas thinking dude just cast net it. Oh wait but then we wouldn’t have slickly produced cool Thresher videos!
it’s good to save the fish when you find em and this is a fantastic video but it’s not a tragedy that the shifting tides make and remake these stranded ponds ad infinitum. It’s just nature. Just like the freeze, we humans tend to think we have more control over nature and natural cycles than we actually do. Them ponds is fantastic food for gators, coons, coyotes, bobcats, and ocelots! and birds!
@@nozrep haha we’re actually on the same page here. Fish getting stuck in pockets like this has been happening since life. Nature gon do nature shit 🤷♂️ Just thought it’d be good for content . Probably would’ve named the video “SAVING HUNDREDS OF FISH FROM THEIR DEATH 😱😱😱😱” or something silly along those lines 😂
One of my favorite RUclips anglers for awhile now . Crazy how the frozen winter killed off a lot of the Texas fishery now these naturally formed ponds and mini body of water are soon to evaporate to an extent . I definitely would contact local wildlife commission . I would think after that winter you guys had they would probably be the ones to want save what fishery you have left . Not saying there is not an abundant amount but I see all the dead fish during the winter . It was insane . Reminded me of red tide here in south west Florida . Way to make an impact Coop! This is not a small feat or win . What you are doing is major !
Bro that is so sick! That drone footage of all the reds cruising was amazing! Never knew there were isolated landlocked little saltwater lakes like this is texas! I live in Florida have only driven through texas
Depending on the distance between those cut off ponds and flowing water id be throwing a net and running them over to the water or dumping them in a giant tank, you can get a giant 100-300 gallon water tank pretty cheap, fits in my truck bed and id ferry fish back and fourth.
I would love to do the same thing that you’re doing. If you could drop the location or email me it. Me and my older brother have big tanks we could use to help transport them
also hopefully it’ll get a real high tide plus extra east southeast winds and that’ll fill em back real nice with bait and what not and/or allow ones to go back out and others to go back in.
Threasher a lot of times fertilized eggs get stuck on the seagulls feathers and they will go to those ponds for easy bait fish & the eggs get dropped then hatch.
It's a seasonal situation with winter and spring tide movement. Big tides roll in and bait fish try to escape pelgeic fish. The tide drops in a matter of hours the fish are trapped. The tides won't return regularly until after the full moon in April. There's been zero rain to boot and that is the real culprit. No rain.
I live around the area going on days off soon I wouldn’t mind getting some buddies together and try to save them or maybe getting ahold of tx game n wildlife maybe they can help
Your awesome man. But I wouldn't have thrown fish back into those ponds. Specially when you knew they were gonna die and you captured my view because the title of your video was saving fish. You saved 2 fish....
I remember when I lived in Singapore and there was a reclamation of land for the second set of runways. There were several fish/skates/rays stuck in the "ponds" as there was no exit. Talk about fish in a barrel.
If saving them is an option, using seine nets and relatively large holding tanks for transport makes much more sense. Tanks could be filled with water from the ponds using a small pump, then the water could be oxygenated for transporting the fish. I'm guessing the oxygen will run out in the ponds before they starve to death. I don't know how far the ponds are from water which isn't land-locked, but I would think it's not far. I presume this is a normal situation which happens without us noticing; maybe it's more of an issue with the latest freeze, but I doubt it will have much impact on the population.
You should had posted this to your location so that more ppl was able to help you out.. and big truck would had been good to use just full up the truck bed with about of water.. keep up the wonderful work... take what ever you can to take home
Man !! U are doing a good deed. I would have done the same. Safe one fish one at a time . But honestly, this is part of mother nature’s creation. Will take all anglers together or local officials to safe every single fish that is trapped in the pond.
A seine net would work great for pulling out all the smaller fish. There are legalities for bigger fish with them. Hey cooper if you want help or need people to harvest these fish so they don't go to waste give out the location.
freeze was over a month ago by now. Been lots of high tides and low tides since then. Although I certainly couldn’t say for sure, it is likely they came into that pond after the freeze on a high tide and all the different tides shifted the sands and closed off the pond.
Have you notified TPW about this situation? After the freeze, I'm sure they would help move those fish

My guess is that he's somewhere east of Alazan Bay near Corpus Christi, but I could be wrong.
You ca n never trust people to go and save the fish, because telling everyone the location is bound to attract some people who just want to catch and harvest the fish, all it takes is one group of people with nets to completely wipe out the fish populations in the local area.
Dude people keep fish for dumb reasons, and eat fish they shouldn't I wouldn't tell anyone either.
@@Greeev looked at the imagery I think you are correct.

Stepped out the box with this one.🔥🔥
Nice to see you here, F&T. Hope you’re doing well!
Fish has no idea how close to death it is but still eating lures like it’s another day
They are starving gotta eat so they wont skip any chance they get
This is just ONE reason why you are my favorite RUclips fisherman, you have genuine care and consideration for these fish. Much respect thresher
"Saving fish from puddles"
** Throws fish back into puddle **
Lmao
Fax. He not even really Savin em at all😩
he did save a fish tho
The only good fish he should should if saves that beautiful red he just throw back into the puddle i instantly clicked off
Totally.
You should have brought a 12ft cast net to throw in those small ponds you would have gotten everything out of that small pond
Was thinking the same thing
I freaking love your videos and your overall attitude towards fishing. You are such a good person
its been so long since ive found your channel, im happy to be back!
the expression "shooting fish in a barrel" has been taken to a whole new level!
Dang Coop! This is a great video man! You took it to the next level man! What a great man or Fisherman I should say you are. God bless you man!

Just a thought. You should do a whole series on catching and moving fish out of the smaller ponds to larger one.
I love vicariously through Coop. Fishing saltwater all the time....what a dream!

Don’t often comment on your videos but this is a compassionate thing to do. Does this happen every year or in certain seasons?
Have you tried contacting TAMUCC about trying to do some sort is sain net retrieval and transport?
Threasher a lot of times fertilized eggs get stuck on the seagulls feathers and they will go to those ponds for easy bait fish & the eggs get dropped then hatch.
Gosh...it's crazy to see so many saltwater fish in those tiny little puddles.
You're a noble man Coop. We need more like you. Builders and preservers, not consumers and destroyers.
that tiny red was the perfect one to save..
Creating some of the best fishing content on RUclips, for sure. Aspiring to do the same someday
Thresher, how do they get trapped in those ponds?
High tide periods, hurricanes.

Cast net as many mullet as you can and go feed those fish in the bigger pond

So you are saving them by catching them and putting them right back in the pond?
Get a few buckets of finger mullets or another type of bait fish to put in the pond .just feed them put loads of bait fish in the ponds
I hope you can save those fish buddy. I know you are gonna try your best 🤙🏽
You should give this location so other people can go out and help save some fish

I found a spot like this near Panama City was FULL of blue crabs. I pulled 4 doz out of it. Tasty!
That was awesome! Thanks for sharing
What you did was admirable to say the least.
Them fish are super hungry. Already ate all the bait out of there.
Bad situation but awesome bite.
Should have brought a Castleton to see if you could get all the fish out fo the small lake
What kind of little trailer is that. Look awesome
Great video and amazing work, keep it up bro

In the future line your truck bed with a heavy duty tarp. Fill it with water, should do the trick.
