It’s interesting how in this middle/psychedelic/65-67 period, when George was more interested in sitar, that Paul played a lot more of the intricate solos.
Paul’s lead playing was a little more flashy, but George had a lot of classic solos too, I love the way they all played. They worked so hard, so much dedication. A real band.
@@Mandrake591 definitely not knocking George, he was clearly the better guitarist. Just an observation. Because once the White Album came around, George was back as a rock guitarist
It’s because Paul wrote the song. And he didn’t want George to screw it up. So if George couldn’t play the solo Like Paul wanted or as good as Paul could. Paul would do it himself. What do you think the Beatles broke up. Because Paul was writing all the music. Kind of like the man in charge. And the Beatles were sick of it. And Ringo was just sitting there thinking and saying you know me fellas. I’M JUST HAPPY TO BE HERE. PRETTY MUCH STONED ALL THE TIME
@David Beckey In the Beatles repertoire George had much more great solos to his credit. Paul and John only had a few. If you take George's best lead work in the Beatles compared to the other two, well ... there's no comparison.
Good job! Looking at it this way, there are many invasions of Paul's guitar at this time. George's feelings would not have been calm. Of course they are both good players. Thank you.
@@erictrafalgar5021 George started to get into Indian music, I think he even had aspirations of becoming a recording artist over there. Also with the case of Taxman, George couldn't play the solo so Paul had to fill in. This was also the case with And Your Bird Can Sing with Paul playing the second guitar (not sure if George couldn't play the whole solo on one guitar) but either way you don't need a random comment to tell you what a phenomenal guitarist George was
"Good Morning" is so Paul. I'm amazed I never realized that. "The Night Before" being Paul and George? Brilliant. Sort of foreshadowing the astonishing work the two did on "And Your Bird Can Sing"... As for "Nowhere Man", I've heard it was John for years, but George and John playing it simultaneously is a new twist (for me) that makes sense, and would explain the unique texture it has.
@ No, John is playing the same solo with George. They are both playing their newly acquired Sonic Blue Fender Stratocasters that Mal Evans bought them.
George wrote the solo on "Nowhere Man" but the doubling was achieved by John playing it alongside him on the second of two strats hired especially for the occasion. George picked his favourite and John played the other one.
Mal Evans went out and bought both of those Stratocasters for George and John. In fact, the "Rocky Strat" is the actual Strat that we hear on Nowhere Man. George painted over the Sonic Blue finish turning it into the "Rocky Strat."
The two other parts are just great, but this is my favourite. It´s just like listening to the records. I didn´t know that the Night Before was a duette, but I thought Nowhere Man was. I also didn´t know that Paul played on and Your Bird Can Sing. Thanks for all the there great videos.
“Strawberry Fields Forever” has a great George guitar solo It’s short, yes but completely right and adds a certain ominous tone to the song I’m surprised it’s not here
Holy shit your playing is amazing and I love your Paul style Casino and your Rocky Strat. They're beautiful, and they sound even better through your vox tube amp mate! I don't know if Rubber Soul is your favorite album too, or if you just thought it'd make a neat Beatles channel name, but cheers either way
Really outstanding! Interesting to me tho, that many of the solos probably weren't played through AC30's. But your sounds are spot on! Is that an older Casino? Or one of the newer imports with the Bigsby added? Sounds killer!
The solos Paul played are, IMO, better than the ones John or George played. They are more adventurous, livelier, and more creative. Taxman and Fixing a Hole really demonstrate this well.
You missed I've Just Seen A Face, which has an acoustic guitar solo, and of course the iconic backwards guitar solo's of I'm Only Sleeping and Tomorrow Never Knows. Other than that, very well played!
On act naturally George Harrison used his Gretsch G6119 Tennessean. For drive my car Paul used a slide for the WHOLE solo and used it for the "bends" that you tried to hit.

Agreed, and I'd also argue that Lennon's playing was very underrated. Particularly his rhythm/chordal/fingerstyle playing.

Revolver has the most impressive guitar riffs on beatle catalog.
Revolver has the most impressive everything in the Beatles catalog.
That is, of course, in my always thoroughly humble opinion.
@2v_5r Abbey Road only had I Want You and Here Comes The Sun
@@Noah-dy8ii where does that opinion even come from and how does somebody explain it
And then Abbey Road IMO
Paul’s tone on the Sgt Peppers opening track is just so crunchy and heavy I love it 😫
I am guessing he was using a Sola Sound Tone Bender or a Maestro Fuzz (which is what Kieth Richards used on "Satisfaction").
@@beatlesrgearI think it could have been the built-in fuzz on their Vox Conqueror amps that they used during Revolver-Sgt Pepper
Love those jangly guitar sounds for life.
never realized why i like fixing a hole so much until i saw you play it
The last solo was my favorite
Dig a pony
I could listen to these all day . Excellent playing !
Man that Epi Casino sounds sweet!
The solo in ‘nowhere man’ was played by both George and John.
Wow .... a real stroll down memory lane. I remember trying to play alot of these passages back in the day. "Thanks for the memories".
