I've never dissambled or assembled one other than a synchronzer but fuck it i want to give it a shot. I have a donor 10 speed and I'm going for it. Thank you for this video
Also when you take the reverse internal snap ring out you can than just pull the key way and the main shaft will come apart in the trans makes it a lot easier than picking it up as one assembly.
Can you help with a hint pls. Ive the same box in Hino tipper and experience grinding on 5th and 7th. been quoted 10k Australian to recondition box only. Does this seem reasonable? Seems like a lot of money to me. The truck cost me 50k Australian with less than 150 000kms on clock. Any advice would help . Your work is impressive.
G&W tool company sells these tools you can call them and tell them what model transmission you are working on and they will set you up with the correct tooling.
What’s the difference between the fro 15210c and the fro 16210c will the same counter shaft bearing puller work for the fro 15210c and fro 16210c on the front and back bearings what if the bearings are destroyed is there a puller to pull the cone race on the shaft only what puller did you use to remove the rear axilary shafts Left/right bearings did you make that counter shaft hook please help I found many tools on line just don’t know what to get thank you
If it’s a FR or FRO those transmissions all take the same tooling. As far as the broke bearing on the countershaft you need to cut it with a cutoff wheel or just carefully knock it off with a hammer and chisel. I have 2 hooks the red one is a hay hook from tractor supply the silver one a friend made for me.
Hey just little FYI when you take that reverse idler out you can bang on the back side of the pin it will take the pressure off the spiral snap ring and you can just pick it out so much easier.
Video is great but the shop is a real shit hole! Take some pride in the place you work! Clean it up and organize it! I would lose my shit if my place started looking like that.
Sorry about the floor. Yeah it’s a little rough but we don’t repair anything on the floor so we’re not too worried about it. We use tables and stands here at our shop. We would probably have cleaner floors if we “lost or shit” every time we got some oil or grease on it. But we deal in high work volumes here and focus more on getting the customer fixed and out in a timely manner.
@@etrtruckcenterenginedrivet8918 3:00 Takes only 5 min a day to take the trash of the floor. Really great video, but clean up before Mama comes home. 😉 Especially cause xou expose yourself on RUclips and have time for RUclips comments. 😁
This is all good but it's dying out fast. The automobile started mass producing automatic transmissions in 1949. City and tour buses went automatic in 1956. In the 1960s manuals were not produced and many cars were offered as an option saying they were for performance but not anymore. Here in 2022 going forward even the corvette doesn't offer any corvette with a manual transmission period. Now we see all new semi trucks being produced with automatic transmission, even CDL schools are training new drivers of tractors on automatics. Why it took commercial vehicles to change over to automatic transmission is beyond me but the cost was a factor as well as old school thinking.
If something breaks it gets fixed if it gets lost I find it in my drawer with a million others when they leave the shop there tip top units ready for years and years of reliable service
The way you snap open the circlips is astonishing

What is the long term reliability after the rebuild. I heard they don’t last long. I have no clue about transmissions and need an honest opinion

Gostei 👏
Glad you liked the video sir.
This would never happen if we never had diesel mechanics lol so good bye the hospitals in SA 😆
🤷♂️ don’t understand
You should watch the video of me showing you how to build one of these units. This is just a video of me disassembling one of these units.
I share everything in that video it’s an hour and 50 minutes long
Watch the assembly video of the 10 speed for step by step instructions
