Most of people grocery shopping think it’s just a normal place where you go shopping, but the entire place’s purpose is to get you to spend money. And this video is a perfect example of it.
Ok boomer, btw when are you giving me that piece of land, bc you said that the purpose of grocery shopping is just getting you to spend money. I'm planning of planting some potatoes.
So, a price used to be, say, $10.00. Increase the price by 30% - we'll get $13.00. Give 25% discount - the result is going to be 75% OF THE $13.00 - the end result is $9.75, meaning you now save 25 cents. So I suppose you wanted to say that manufacturers try to make their discounts look bigger than they actually are?
@@satyampandey662 ya but keep that in mind also that manufacturers also put something on sale if they find that that item is struggling to sell or is going too close to expiry date that consumer may not want to buy old stuff
I got wise to manufacturer's tricks back in 1969, when I was 12 years old. That was the last year that nickel candy bars were available. To replace them, manufacturers started offering dime candy bars. But when I compared the dime ones to the nickel candy bars - by setting two five-cent ones and placing them against a single dime bar, I discovered that the two nickels offered more than one dime - both measuring longer and thicker than the single one. From that day onward, I was always suspicious of "new and improved."
@@Normal1855 I didn't say they were cheating me. But it is still a trick. The 10-cent candy bar was bigger than one five-cent candy bar, but not the same size as two. Which meant you were getting less of a product - about 25 percent less - for twice the money. Same thing as using air in a bag of potato chips to make it appear bigger. Even though the weight is clearly marked on the package, it deceives the eye into thinking you're getting more of a product.
Well I already knew one thing, if you see “organic” on a fruit package, it doesn’t mean anything. Same as the regular fruit, they just make it seem healthy and all so people buy the more expensive version. How do I know all of this? I used to work in a fruit farm and saw the way they package everything. Two versions, a regular package and one that says “organic” they don’t do anything to the fruit, only to the bag or whatever you’re buying.
