hello!! forgot to mention explicitly in the video, but I'm an international student! the international cutoff this year was a whopping 95%, and i got in thanks to my high position on the waitlist!!
You did so great. 😮Good job! Can I ask you a couple of questions regarding application process? When did application open and when did it close? Do they pay attention to gpa and english test requirements? ( I have Ielts 6.5 and I am not sure if I have a chance to get accepted). I would love to apply to fall 2024
@user-mb4fm4rw8s apps opened around late October and closed late February!! GPA really only comes into play if you're put on the wait list, but there is a minimum GPA which I believe is 2.0 or 60%. If you have more questions, I'd email an advisor or ask in the 2024 hopefuls discord!!
If you dont mind my asking, what GPA did you have? Im planning on applying as an international student, and I want to see what the range for a good GPA is if i happen to be wait-listed
Hello, if you don’t mind me asking, how long did this take to create? The portfolio. I really want to get into animation, and I feel like it would be my dream, but I have not taken an art class since freeshman year of community college. I fear my drawing skills have been stagnant from the past years since I used to draw a slot in middle school.
Hi there!! So for me, I started my portfolio in earnest in July of 2022 and worked on it slowly until February 2023! I'd start working as soon as you'd like, but taking a gap year to practice or taking art fundamentals at sheridan is a great way to buff your skills back up after a long break!! Good luck to you!!
Congrats!! Beautiful artwork! I got curious to see the full portfolio PDF but the link on the description is incomplete. Could you edit that, please? :)
Hi! thats an issue with youtube im afraid, im not able to make clickable links yet ;; you can find my portfolio here! docs.google.com/presentation/d/1FE9XlaAe7aRbTdUvJj_WNL8SY8jkykaC-9UXpvOTVCE/edit?usp=sharing
Your work is amazing! I'm so impressed. By the way, I don't think your link to your portfolio as a PDF is working, but that might just be a me problem.

Congrats on getting in! All your stuff is amazing!! For personal work, I know they ask for 5-7 pieces. Do they expect each of those pieces to consist of multiple drawings, as you did, or are they okay with some of the pieces consisting of just one or two drawings?
Hi!! Thank you sm!! So for personal work, it's sort of up to you. You can submit 7 individual pieces, however I and quite a few other people submitted PDF's with multiple pieces each instead. Be wary on including TOO much work, as instructors are looking at hundreds of portfolios and may skip through your work quite fast if there's too much of it. I submitted 3 single pieces, and 4 PDF's, one of which was my sketchbook drawings!
Hi if you don't mind me asking what software do you use for the character rotation section? I'm currently working on my portfolio and struggling at that part
hi thank you!! sheridan offers a lot of scholarships and bursaries through their program but unfortunately i didn't qualify for any ;;; i did apply to the spinmaster creativity scholarship but wasn't picked unfortuntely ;;;
hello, i have a question. so i want to apply for fall 2024 and right now im trying to find out the 2024 requirements but no luck. so when werre the 2023 req. released for you or where did you register to get the requirements before hand? because im freaking out and really dont want to miss the specific 2024 portfolio req
i'm in the same position. I found the requirements last weekend (Oct. 14, 2023). www.sheridancollege.ca/-/media/project/sheridan/shared/files/programs/admission-requirements/faad/app-pbaaa.pdf?rev=36531822bc314d89a480fe6043cc738c&hash=351CC90A0AADD0D8DAEA3DEC0DCF02D0 I also emailed the address on the top of the pdf and got a response back in days; according to the Contact Centre for Post-secondary Studies, the additional admission requirements will be sent out after Sheridan receives their appliction.
I know this question sounds really dumb, but do you need to be really experienced in animation to apply? Or do you need to achieve just the basics to get accepted?
not a dumb question at all!! i had the same one when i started, but honestly before i animated the juicebox i had very little to no animating experience. although, i will say, i've loved animation for a long time and have watched so many movies and shows that a lot of it kind of came naturally. but if you have determination and motivation, learning the basics is all you really need!!
i loved watching ur portfolio, i was just wondering if you knew why u got 18/20 on ur sotryboard? i have trouble understanding why ppl got marks taken off in that portion
it really depends!! we're not told why certain things will lose us marks, it's just the marks we get. looking at it now a semester into the program, i can tell my story was a bit weak, the setting has some inconsistencies, and the angles are not as exciting or engaging as they could be!
from vimeo: "The 180-degree rule states that two characters (or more) in a scene should always have the same left/right relationship with each other. The rule dictates that you draw an imaginary line between these two characters (or subjects) and try to keep your camera(s) on the same side of this 180-degree line." i recommend looking up some visual examples!!
I actually applied while I was in a post secondary school already!! So technically I going to college a second time, but throughout my first college I had lots of time to hone my skills!!
thats a big question!! I've been drawing for about 15 years and about 6 years professionally, the traditional art shown at 3:06 was created in my community college studio art program so i had quite a bit of teaching on that front! but there's really no time frame on how long it "takes to learn how to draw", cause it differs from person to person. the best time to start is right now!
2027? Do they register for school four years in advance? How does it work?? I also want to register for that college but I still have things to learn and I dont want to rush things😭😭
thats the graduating year, most colleges denote classes that way!! currently im in the class of 2027 because that's the year i'll finish the program :p

Hii! Amazing portfolio!
Sorry to ask but i really need to know. Can you tell me how much is your tuition fee as an international student?
The first semester was around 15k CAD, and the second was around 14k CAD :(

its best to submit things as single pngs or pdfs!! i dont believe videos are accepted
