"With just a few days left until the new year, 2022 has already set a grim record: so far at least 6,036 children across the United States have been killed or injured by gunfire, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
As of Tuesday, 306 children under age 12 were killed by guns and another 668 were injured nationwide. For those ages 12-17, 1,328 were killed and 3,734 were injured.
Those figures include the 19 kids-but not the two adults-killed in the May 24 mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and come just a few weeks after the nation marked the 10th anniversary of the massacre of 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

It says everything that "gunshot wounds" isn't even the leading cause of child death in places like Ukraine or Yemen (actual war zones), but it is in America.
Leading cause of death is capitalism. Guns are often the medium, as well as the best medium of defense against it.
Too many people believe the right to own a gun is more important than the life of a child.
And they will sadly blame the victim for not having a gun.
I moved from the US to Japan 20 years ago. It wasn't because of guns. But guns are a big reason I will likely never move back there.
How is it moving there is the culture shock large?
Your lax gun laws are a major problem here in Canada. Many of our gun crimes are committed with weapons smuggled from the US.
How is possible that you can be 18 to buy a gun but you have to be 21 to buy alcohol?
I think lawmakers flipped a coin when deciding which one you need to be more familiar with before getting the other.
Hopefully because te concept if an 18yr old drunk gun owner is seen be a lethal combination.
Corruption and politicians taking bribes from the gun industry. Not that they don't do that from the alcohol industry as well, but apparently the gun industry offers better bribes.
Let us pause to honour those children who gave their lives to protect your god given Second Amendment rights
freedom isnt free. or some other nonsense buzzword cliche that conservatives say to justify monstrosities.
And when will it be too many??…… the USA is not prepared to stop this slaughter
Republicans: "Yeah that's sad, but.....money."
That's literally the democrats as well. That's just capitalism. Lol
The Uvalde parents have not gotten justice yet.
Everyone agrees that is insane.
No parents past, present, or future ever will. True justice would be the removal of firearms from society.
@@globalwarmhugs7741 This would just be the government massacring citizens... Not justice.
@@globalwarmhugs7741 Not necessarily.🙅 We want to make it harder for terrible and immoral people to get the guns and have laws that punish them for getting the guns illegally.😤 Japan, for example, has very strict gun control laws, but law abiding citizens can still get them when they go through and pass the process.🧐
@@bloodsheder99 Same with Canada, hon. But Americans aren't mature enough to bear the responsibility, and they loathe safety regulations.
@@userunknown1578 I'm talking all guns.
In Norway 29 people were killed by violence in 2021. The perpetrators are of course almost all men. None of the victims were less than 10 years of age, and 2 were 10-17. In 7 of the cases guns were used, and no children were victims. The population was 5.4 million. For the years 2011-2021, in such cases the use of knives as a weapon is on top of the stats at 52%, and guns are at 30%. As far as I know from news coverage, there were no cases in 2021 that could be classified as terrorism. The incident in Kongsberg where 5 people were killed by an archer, was clearly a psychiatric case, and can probably be considered somewhat of an anomaly or an outlier in the stats. If we exclude this particular case, in almost all cases the victim and the perpetrator knew each other. The public in Norway has little reason to worry about their safety, even in the capital Oslo. But violence is on the rise, slowly.
I wonder if it's on the rise because a tiny minority of its citizens are buying into US fuckery about guns.
R@pe gangs, beheadings, no-go zones, trucks of peace, acid attacks, etc

You know how we have to pay for car insurance and yearly registration? This should be applied to weapons as well.
I bet you that’ll lower the number of guns out there. That’s when you know that law of demand is pure fabrication, how many people own guns vs how affordable they actually are. Since apparently all republicans and rural folks want a gun, they should be more expensive, no? Cars are expensive, homes are expensive and all we are told is the demand is high… something to think about for sure.
@@Pb-rw7gs my thinking behind that is mostly to help cover the cost of these crimes. Yes, people should have to pay to have deadly weapons. There should also be mandatory, recurring training to be able to own weapons.

We’re a laughing stock. Other countries literally make jokes about how children die from gun violence and we do nothing about it.

"Ban abortions so that we have enough children to shoot" appears to be the message. Here in western Europe, I've not found even one case of a child being shot this year. Could our strict gun laws be the reason? I think so.
The abortion bans are insane especially when those same people supporting it are usually against sex education as well. It's all about profit and control. Children born into poverty help fuel the system. They want a new larger generation of cheap labor, loyal consumers, future prisoners to be profited from, and soldiers.

I’m actually surprised Ana is a gun owner. Wow. I won’t have one in my house and I could pass any background. My fear is my firearm falling into someone else’s hands. If someone broke into my house and took my firearm and killed a child would be too much to bear.
That wouldnt be your fault in any way. That would be the fault of the criminal who broke in, stole the item and then either gave it to someone else or used it to harm someone illegally.
@@youknow9092 I feel it would. We need to find a way to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. If they can’t buy them, they steal them. I don’t want to be another reason that someone gets hurt. I also don’t want to have a firearm and shoot the wrong person.
@@razman4240 its wouldnt. Someone stealing your item and committing a crime with it would not be your fault.
How do you suppose we prevent crimes from taking place?
@@youknow9092 We need less criminals. However, the punishments and consequences for people getting caught are lenient. The laws are designed to protect the criminals, so we must take away the temptations from them.
@@razman4240 that is an issue with the criminal justice system reducing charges, reducing sentences and just dropping charges. This has nothing to do with firearms or firearm laws.
Hey Republicans, What happened to “If you have nothing to hide, you have knowing to fear”? If you are a, as you say, “law abiding gun owner”, why would you need an unregistered firearm? Why would you need to jump through loopholes if your weapons are legal and your actions/intentions lawful?
The original purpose of the populace having guns Is to prevent any clan destined groups from taking over the government , It was to create a balance a power between the government and the populace . They were not supposed to know where all the guns are Are who has them because they would be the 1st ones on the list to be rounded up . The right to bear arms is about self protection but it's primary purpose was a series of checks and balances . America is the furthest thing from a homogeneous or Monotheistic nation, There are so many different groups of people who could conflict with each other. This is why the matrix for gun control in the United States and the UK have nothing in common with each other. I think it's great that they have the liberty or the luxury of being able to have cops that don't have guns . They probably care more about their common citizen than we do. America is always looking for a group of people to throw into the bus and blame for all the problems And scape Goat then. And there is already insane corruption and their Always has been . I would love to live in hippy land , But that is far from the land we live in . As much as the temptation there is to get rid of all the guns It could lead to dynamic that is much much worse . Regardless of what the political parties are telling us with the current instability I suspect that maybe they all feel safer Knowing that the populace is armed . Although they appear to be targeting certain groups Did they find the most threatening. Particularly all this season to ex military far right wing . Remember it was the seasoned World War I vets in Germany that formed The third rike They had already learned how to kill
Because when your sensible "Assault Wepon Ban" has literally zero effect on gun crimes, you'll ban handguns next. Just like Canada just did. Your endgame is to ban all firearms, and with a registry, they'll know exactly where they are. I'm a Democrat BTW..
Republicans: "🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗."😏
i think it has something to do with the fact that a firearm registry is how hitler disarmed the jew before he killed them
@@falconpunch6792 You don’t sound convinced.

Right!!🤷🏾♀️
Just the inner cities.
Here is the thing with the UK, you can own a gun for legitimate reasons, for sports shooting, for hunting, or for farmers with pest control. You cannot own what you would classify as Assualt weapons, or as we refer to them Dick Extensions. There is absolutely no need for that level of firepower even in home defence.
The process is rigorous, criminals cannot own a gun legally, you have background check at a local and national level.
The argument Americans aways drone on about is home defence, you know what, we have home invasions too, nobody gets shot. You can confront the robber if you wish and have the right to defend your home, thieves don't carry guns because they are not breaking into a place where they will be shot.
It's a vicious circle.
Sadly for the US Pandora's box is already open and you are just going to see more and more deaths in an increasingly divided paranoid society.
But like most things, Europe does it better, Gun control, (where we do own guns and very few people are shot) to Education, Healthcare, Benefits, tolerance of others, Even poverty.
MultiCULTuralism seems to be the issue in Europe....
Beheadings, bombs, trucks of peace, mass shootings, etc etc
So when ya gonna ban that, tinkerbell?

'A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.'
Anyone using the second amendment has to adhere to ALL of the amendment.
JFC
This was covered in the 2008 supreme court ruling DC V. Heller.
The ruling Held:
1. The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. Pp. 2-53.
(a) The Amendment’s prefatory clause announces a purpose, but does not limit or expand the scope of the second part, the operative clause. The operative clause’s text and history demonstrate that it connotes an individual right to keep and bear arms. Pp. 2-22.
(b) The prefatory clause comports with the Court’s interpretation of the operative clause. The “militia” comprised all males physically capable of acting in concert for the common defense. The Antifederalists feared that the Federal Government would disarm the people in order to disable this citizens’ militia, enabling a politicized standing army or a select militia to rule. The response was to deny Congress power to abridge the ancient right of individuals to keep and bear arms, so that the ideal of a citizens’ militia would be preserved. Pp. 22-28.
-(Cornell Law School)
So if you were wondering why no one cares about the 'militia' part of the 2nd anymore, that is why. It was legally analyzed and decoupled from it some years ago now.
@@thinkharder9332 Decoupled was probably a poor choice of words. It has always been the way it has been. The Heller case just looked into the history and context of the 2nd. They didn't change it.
For those looking to make a case about the militia, who runs it, and who is in it, and who can own guns because of it. It's all a non-starter. It's been very clearly looked into. And now we don't have to go back and look at all the context of the 2nd ourselves ( a lot of reading) we can just rely on the ruling that did it for us. :D
Saying that someone is against the 2nd Amendment simply because that person wants more safety regulations to prevent needless deaths, is like saying that someone is against cars and other motor vehicles, since that person believes in seatbelts and strict traffic laws. If you want to stop drunk drivers by pulling over drivers who seem unsteady on the road, then you are attacked for trying to take away a citizen's right to drive a motor vehicle. Every other first world country does NOT have mass shootings every day, or have babies killed from guns, because they REGULATE who is allowed to have the adult responsibility to own lethal weaponry. Canadian and Mexican criminals cannot buy guns in their own countries because they need a License to own them, and have lengthy backgrounds checks done. So they get their guns from the USA who sells guns to anyone with the cash to buy them. Money is all that matters to the "right" wing. Way back when I was little, the main things we had to worry about were polio and nuclear annihilation (fortunately, the latter never happened). Most children had no access to firearms and most parents took great care to see to it that their children were never in a position to be shot. It was incomprehensible that we could be shot in our school because no sane person would bring a gun into a school. In those "good old days" that Republicans always yearn for, they would be run/laughed out of town or tossed in the hoosegow for their behavior. Racial and social injustices aside, they were in many ways, much better days.
@@thinkharder9332 I don't know what planet or time period you're talking about but as a child of the 50's and 60's I grew up in a mountain community where pretty much every household had guns but they were never just readily available to young children. NOBODY ever brought them to school and kids didn't just go off hunting on their own after school. No responsible parent of the day would let young children use a firearm unsupervised and kids were never allowed to just "go out and hunt rabbits" on their own until they were old enough and could show that they knew how to properly handle a gun.
If what you say was your experience during that time period, you lived in a very strange and dangerous community.

If guns were malfunctioning and killing the users, they would be sued and shut down immediately. Since they function as intended by killing the person in the bullet's path, the manufacturers are safe from any prosecution. 2A

I wonder what would happen if people who sold firearms shared responsibility for the violent crimes that the firearms they sold are involved in? Someone who sold a gun used in a violent crime would share a prison sentence with an offender? I personally have mixed feelings about the concept and doubts about it's viability, but it would certainly encourage people who sell guns to actually pay attention to who they are selling to. It would affect personal sales too. Even family members would have to think real hard about trusting other family members with their guns.
