Hi friends! A quick reminder not to post spoilers for "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes". The book isn't out in many countries yet, and won't be for another few weeks, so it's incredibly inconsiderate. Also, many of you have been asking when I'll make videos about it. I won't be making videos about it until the movie adaptation is released, as this firstly gives everyone time to buy and read the book, and secondly will allow us to use the secondary canon that is a movie to base ideas off of. Thank you and happy bubbles!
wow, you now have a whole new book to make videos about but out of compassion for your viewers you are holding off until the next movie is made - i really respect that, thanks for being so considerate however if you wanted too i'm sure you could make videos about specific topics in the new book with a clear title, spoiler warnings and ambiguous thumbnails, and then change the thumbnail and title after the movie is released? perhaps you didn't want too do it, which is fine too. regardless, i hope you like the new book!
Story Diver you should read the books they go into great detail ab how all three of them train and get into shape and I do believe hamich quits drinking so by u saying he would have been a bad choice for this is wrong but other words decent video keep up the good work- sorry for spelling I’m drunk 🥴.
Imagine if Haymich won the quarter quell then he be the first tribute to win two quarter quells Yes every other tribute will be famous because of winning two games but Haymich would win two games with big a twist
I think that Haymitch rather than being paralysed by his PTSD would become more determined and would turn his attention to keeping Katniss alive meaning he would have gone with her when they put the coil of wire in the beach and would’ve come to District 13 with her
In his original hunger games the second quarter quell, Haymitch was fast, agile, strong, skilled with a knife, and intelligent as he outsmarted one of the district 1 females that year with the forcefield+axe stunt that got his family and girlfriend killed because he made the Capitol look like idiots. Yeah Haymitch still retains that intelligence and possibly that dormant strength, but Katniss states that he's out of shape when the the three of them were training for the third quarter quell. And since Haymitch has been a drunkard for 25 years, how would that affect his performance in the arena? would that cause him to think irrationally? Alcohol withdrawal might be a major weakness for Haymitch, especially against the career tributes Cashmere, Gloss, Brutus and Enobaria. But he'd have the help of Katniss, Finnick, Johanna, who are skilled fighters and maybe Blight if he hadn't died by hitting the forcefield. And destroying the arena's forcefield would be major de ja vu for him because that forcefield was both a blessing and a curse for him 25 years earlier. But in the end, the rebel victors' plan would probably still come to pass
@@ranvirgrewal316 I agree with the fact that Haymitch secretly trained for the games prior to the second quarter quell. But another more likely reason why Haymitch was a formidable tribute is probably because he, like Katniss and Gale, illegally hunted in the woods outside of 12 to feed his mother and younger brother. Why wouldn't he when he's from the Seam like them and Seam people would do anything to get food? And all his exertion from trying to put food on the table earned Haymitch his fighting prowess just like how Katniss became a skilled archer from so much time in the woods as with Gale with his snares and overall resourcefulness. That's why even though Haymitch and Katniss weren't careers, they still possessed the fighting attributes of one. Cuz if Gale was reaped, he'd be a formidable opponent for even Cato to handle just like Thresh was and the careers would try to recruit Gale into their pack.
@@korie4198 who knows? Maybe the Capitol made sure that whichever liquor bottle Haymitch specifically bought from Ripper, that woman from the Hob who sells that substance, had that drug in his bottles and told her to keep quiet on the penalty of death.
being in an arena with double the amount of people is different from being in an arena with very experienced killers and victors. so no haymitch wouldn’t necessarily have the skills.
Hi friends! A lot of you will notice that today's video is filmed in the old set. This is because I am now officially on maternity leave! So what does this mean exactly? No I have not had the baby yet (and please don't ask repeatedly if I've given birth, I will post on Instagram etc once the baby is born). All of the videos posted for the next 6 weeks to two months were filmed over the last 6 months, so a lot of them are filmed in the old house. I will still be answering your comments as much as possible, and will still be active on social media (Discord, Instagram, Twitter etc). However I may be less active! Thank you all for your understanding, and happy bubbles!
There’s one major thing that hasn’t been mentioned: Brutus. Brutus would still kill Chaff, but Haymitch most likely wouldn’t be able too kill Brutus. This would lead too Brutus most likely getting out of the arena with Enobaria. If Haymitch had been at the same place Peeta had been, I still don’t believe Haymitch would’ve been able to kill Brutus, even if he was weakened by Chaff. He would most likely be going through withdrawal and unable to fight. This means he’d either be killed be Brutus or spared. If killed, this would be very traumatising too Katniss and would affect the story in huge amounts. What do you guys think?
With different people in the arena the Games would take place differently. We don’t know wether Brutus and Haymitch would ever encounter each other, let alone how that would go
Personally I don't think she have been as unhinged by Haymitch's death/capture. Definetely she'd have been upset but her mission in the second games was to protect Peeta and she had been hoping Haymitch could volunteer in his place. While Haymitch had saved Katniss's life as well, she was falling in love with Peeta and had formed a more intimate bond with him when they were in the first games.
There is also the fact that the only reason Peeta left Beetee was because he thought Katniss was in trouble, even though Beetee told him to stay with him he ignored him. Haymitch knew that Katniss was with Joanna and that she would do whatever necessary to protect Katniss so he wouldnt have a real reason to leave the lightning tree to find Katniss then unintentionally running into Brutus. If he did he would be leaving Beetee unprotected with 2 careers on the loose and as we all know, Beetee was a big part of the rebellion. So it wouldnt make sense for him to leave especially when Finnick had already left to go find them. That's just my thought process lmao
He would have to use code language to Peeta to explain the rebel plan and send him messages in the arena, He would try his best to protect Katniss but due to his addictions and old age, it would be unlikely he would survive this event or be rescued as district 13 would find him useless in the rebellion
Ethan NO Then change your comment to “You and Movieflame are the the only theory channels I watch for The Hunger Games lol. No hate nor annoyed. Just bored. Really bored. 😐
Ironically: I think the 'power' of choice should be given to the one reaped, they should be able to choose consent for the volunteers to take their place. After all, wouldn't the Capitol want their tributes to initially see the games as more of a lucky honor, than a hopeless damnation?
I think Haymitch is one of the greatest because he is the only alive survivor of a quarter quell. He won the games with 48 tributes.I think the games would have been interesting too.I find Haymitch a great entertaining character. Btw live your vids
Since Haymitch knew, he would have had to be saved. If he let out that information, it would be game over for the rebels. It would be likely that Snow would keep an eye on Haymitch, as he had upset him before in the 2nd Quater Quell.
It is interesting but I don't think he would survive to the point he could be rescued I think he would have died since I don't think he would be a great swimmer so he could have drowned while getting to the cornucopia, If he did survive the bloodbath he could have died in the same spot Mags died or since he is an easy target be killed instead of Wiress or with Wiress. But I really don't think he would have survived the games.
That would have been risky for haymitch to be in the games knowing what he knew. I think he he would have found a way to be killed or kill himself before the capitol would get anything out of him.
I think she was relieved that haymitch way pulled because she knew Peeta would volunteer, making the rebel plan more likely to happen. (This of course is only if Effie knew the rebel plan, if not then she was relieved it wasn’t Peeta)
If you watch carfuly she was less enthusiastic in catching fire than in the first one cause she loved katniss and peet's she was already upset she knew no matter what katniss had to go in but she still had hope there was a possibility peeta would not going making at least one of them live she was sad she had to do it cause she was saying it almost crying but in the first one she was smiling and happy cause she did not know any of them and do not care for them as much as she cares for them In catching fire
Story Diver, I am one of the only girls that loves the hunger games in my school. I think the same questions that you answer! I am so glad I have free time to watch your videos!
I believe if Haymitch competed, he would likely turn to suicide. If that weren't an option, he might turn to other addictions, such as urine consumption, or ask, possibly even force, another tribute to kill him. Or maybe he might trick the Capitol into killing him, such as in a situation like Titus, a tribute mentioned in the first novel, who started eating the tributes he killed. It is thought by Katniss that the avalanche that killed him was manufactured by the Capitol.
casually watching all your videos now I watched the songbird and snakes movies hahahahaha. Personally I think MOVIE Haymitch would have a good shot at winning another quarter quell, like the addiction withdrawal and PTSD he would definitely be able to annihilate a bunch of people before someone like Brutus would kill him. Considering everything Haymitch has gone through, that darkness and violence within him would help a lot for the movie version of him. A lot of people want to see his games and his story written and adapted and I am one of those people!!!!!!
The lore was always so intriguing to me. The writing, let’s face it, is good enough for the basic subject matter. It leaves a lot to be desired. I love this channel for the lore behind it all.
“Remember who the real enemy is.” “I’m not the enemy...” Cmon. This should’ve been a series of mini series and it would’ve redefined story telling for the masses.
In the movies sooo much hangs upon Katniss just figuring it all out, sort of? It’s cheap and lazy. The movies did a great job in general for the time constraints they had.
I was under the impression that they couldn’t save Peeta and Johanna because they still had their trackers in their arms. Johanna cut Katniss’s out shortly before the end, but no one was around to do the same for Peeta, and perhaps Johanna didn’t have time to cut out her own before being knocked out. Unless there’s more context in the books, which I wouldn’t know about. I’d love to know!
Great Video. My friends think I'm strange that Haymitch is my favourite character but he has such a interesting character. Very interesting theory to think about. PS. I,m glad that this video came out today as its my bday and it was very enjoyable to watch. 🎂🎉🎈
It is also likely that if Peeta’s name was called at the reaping, Haymitch May not have volunteered for him. Haymitch has a critical role in the rebel plan and if he would go into the arena, Peeta would have to absorb a lot of information in a very short amount of time. Also Peeta has absolutely no mentoring experience or experience dealing with sponsors. That said, by Haymitch going back on his word to Katniss to volunteer for Peeta, it could have certainly changed the dynamic of their relationship much earlier on where she never trusts him again.
I know that Peeta and katniss had to go to the quarter quell together because of the star crossed lovers, etc but it would've been so interesting to see haymitch in the games.
Thanks for the video hope you enjoy your time off you’ve earned it and thanks for filming all these videos for us well you have your time away hope you and your baby are doing well :)
I think if Haymitch was in the Games with Katniss, D13 would NEED to prioritize getting him or Peeta out with Katniss, because she would need one to help her cope with not having the other. Haymitch helped Katniss be the Mockingjay by holding the meeting to show how Katniss moved people, and later was the only one she went to when she broke down for Peeta. Next to Peeta, he is arguably her biggest source of comfort and security (aside from Gale) And if they got Peeta instead of Katniss, he could give her the strength she needed to be the Mockingjay. He could even be with her on camera, and if the Star Crossed Lovers supported the same side, they could even get Capitolites to rebel. And, Peeta could comfort Katniss when it came to missing Haymitch, as he was the one she was closest to out of the captured Victors. So if Katniss didn't have either, she would have fallen apart. D13 would need to prioritize getting at least one of them out.
You should do a Lyme character spotlight as little is know about her and when you are doing the character Spotlights you should name their appearance difference as finnick is described as olive skinned and green eyes but in the movie blue eyed and tanned skinned so you should name their differences
I do name differences in the Character Spotlights, that’s the main reason behind them. As for Lyme, there’s not enough information about her to warrant a video unfortunately
Heres how I think it would play out: Katniss is the first to the Cornucopia, followed quickly by Finnick. Haymitch didn't manage to give Finnick the bracelet so Katniss nearly kills him before Haymitch gets between them and quickly explains. They kill a handful of tributes before running from the island. Unfortunately feel that this delay might lead to Mags' death, so their alliance is down to three. Somehow they meet Chaff in the jungle and they team up with him (I wish Cedar was their too but I think she died in the bloodbath). Johanna, Beetee, Blight and Wiress meet up with the other four on the beach. They find out about the arena being a clock and I think that Wiress would die again, however it's possible that the careers wouldn't attack due to the fact that the Rebel Alliance has double the amount of people compared to the career alliance. Chaff would go after Brutus and maybe drown him under the water, nearly dying himself. Cashmere and Gloss are killed by Katniss and Johanna, leaving Enobaria as the last career. Also dont forget that Haymitch is very good with knives, so its possible that he gets a few kills as well. Without both of the careers to stop the plan, the team all gets to the lightning tree and is rescued. Another Hover craft gets Peeta, Annie and Effie. With her time away from Peeta I think Katniss would realize that she only wants to be friends, and in the end she never gets married. After the war there would be 11 living Victors: Enobaria, Beetee, Wiress, Finnick, Annie, Johanna, Blight, Chaff, Katniss, Peeta and Haymitch. When it comes to the vote for the final games with the capitols children. the votes are as follows. For the games: - Katniss (rue still dies) - Haymitch (with the mockinjay) - Johanna (badass) - Enobaria (badass) - Blight (with Johanna and also PTSD and revenge) - Chaff (same as Blight) - Wiress (probably the first time that she disagrees with Beetee, the trauma that she faces and the everyday struggles of her disability are both from her games, she wants revenge.) Against the games: - Finnick (sees hope in his child and just how savage the games are) - Annie (same as Finnick) - Peeta (hes tired of the conflict) -Beetee "we need to stop seeing each other as enemies" So yeah, the 76th Hunger Games take place with the Capitols children. The children are reaped from a singular ball in the City Centre in the Capitol, and they are all the children of Snows accomplices, sort of switching the roles for why the games happened in the first place. Your parents did something bad so you have to suffer. I have a feeling that these games would be interesting because the Capitol children had access to the older games like the careers, possibly making them even more deadly than their district counterparts.
I don't think Katniss actually planned to have a 76th hunger games. I believe the only reason she says yes, is to gain the trust of Coin. So that way Coin will allow her to be the one to "kill Snow" but then she can actually kill Coin. She says "Yes for Prim" but she has just spoken with Snow who said that it was really Coins doing, that got her killed.
I really love your videos on THG!!! I hope your baby will be a nice healthy boy/girl :) Also I would love to see a video on Gale (If there isn't one already) Enjoy maternity leave
hey girl, insightful takes you've put together., im a psychologist from eastern africa i think haymitch would have been fine. when people face extreme trauma repetitively as haymitch has done due to being in and out of the arena he would have a unique insight of getting 1 more sponsers from friends that survived but also from his expericene of killing twice as many people than the rest of the victors. also trauma resistance is a funny thing, enough of the same trauma can cause someone to bounce back so much fast as they live in constant survival mode, their dreams them how to avoid certain new traps daily so it he would have had more being the only district 12 mentor, typically it daily activities like bathing jobs eating well that they truly struggle with, as we see haymitch struggles with. a bouncy ball doesnt know how not to bounce, haymitch is that.
Peeta would have still been captured if Haymitch volunteered as tribute for Peeta, just like Annie was captured by the capitol and she didn't participate in the quarter quell. Finnicks weakness is his love for Annie. Just like Katniss's weakness is her love for Peeta. Haymitch volunteering for Peeta wouldn't make a difference as I think Peeta would have still been captured by the capitol.
Thank you for this video! What would’ve happened if Plutarch wasn’t the Head Gamemaker of the Games? If the gamemaker was just like Seneca Crain (not a part of the rebels) do you think Katniss would’ve survived?
It’s hard to say. Another gamemaker may have killed her off immediately, or let things play out “naturally” in the arena giving her a chance of surviving
It’d be cool to see Peeta and Katniss to mentoring the tributes of the next hunger games. Too bad that the uprising happened before the next hunger games
I think that he would struggle quite a bit in the beginning but the fact that he is crucial to the larger plan would motivate him to keep going, for the rebels and the rebellion
One little Thing...as an American who has lived in London for nearly a Decade & can understand any Amount of Cockney,...& has read the Trilogy more than once in English & in Translation in 2 other Languages I would have greatly appreciated English Subtitles to your Video so I could figure out what you were saying...(which sounded really interesting).
I will be adding subtitles when I have time (hopefully in the next coming months). Interesting that you bring up a cockney accent, considering mine is not cockney at all 😂
Awesome video! I have a video suggestion that I’ve been thinking about quite a lot recently, who would have won the 75th Hunger Games if the rebel plan never ended up happening? (If the games were played as normal games, without all of the rebels teaming up). Just a suggestion, thank you!
In the books it was stated that Haymitch was winded easily when running for a short period of time. Not only would he be out of shape his withdrawal symptoms with him being in a hostile environment would make him on edge rather quickly which would often get himself hurt or perhaps even killed in the arena despite Katniss and Finnick doing their best to save him.
First of all excuse me, for I have only seen the movies (although my books are already shipping so don't worry I WILL read them), but I always felt that Effie was involved in the reaping. It just seemed extremely coincidental to me that it was Haymitch who was reaped and it passed exactly as he and Katniss had already talked about, Peeta would volunteer. It wouldn't have mattered, in my opinion, if Peeta's name was the one reaped, after all Effie had the last word, and it would always be Haymitch regardless of what was written on the paper.
I think that you forgot that in the book, Haymitch swore off drinking until after everything in the hunger games took place. He also trained with Katniss and Peeta for months before the reaping too to the point where he regained a lot of his fighting skills.
Though he did stop drinking, the effects of that type of alcoholism stay for years, especially when you're faced with your triggers again. And though he was stronger, Katniss does point out that he was not nearly as strong or skilled as her and Peeta were, even after the months of training
hey can you make a video about what would have happened if the rule of the first movie, you know the one that says that if thw two members of the same district are alive they can team up. because if that wouldn´t have happened most of the love action wouldn't have happened and maybe they would not be alive
You should do a video about what if Katniss was taken by the capitol at that point instead of Peeta and what whould have happened to the rebel plan. How would have Peeta reacted to this? Would Katniss have been Hijacked like he was?
In either case, he's dead, because he would have died in the arena to protect Katniss, if necessary, but then, when the rescue happens, if 13 didn't pick him up, he'd die in the Capitol to guard all the information he had. Other than Plutarch, Haymitch was probably the only other person who knew the entire plan.
First in the books it shows peeta taking on the mentorship role by having them all 3 train. Also it is clearly started that Haymitch had stopped drinking. I think he started again after peeta was for sure going to go into the games. Also is would not beed to be recused because he would know the plan cut out his own tracker. A reminded they didnt save peeta and joanna because the capital could fallow them. So all 3 oh them would end up in district 13 peeta, Katniss, and Haymitch. The change now would be that non of the victories would be saved until after the war was over because there is no point in saving them before.
Just an idea (once you start making new videos again) what if thresh hadnt died like he had killed cato so it would be Katniss, peeta, thresh and fox face you dont have to just an idea
As much as I would’ve loved to see Haymitch in the 75th Games, I think he had much lower survival odds than Peeta so it wouldn’t have worked storywise. He’s a longtime alcoholic in withdrawal who’s much older and less fit. Probably not going to make it very far. Would’ve been interesting though that he would’ve been the only tribute to be in two quarter quells. I think if it had been him in the games, he most likely would’ve died protecting Katniss somehow. And it also would’ve been a total mess briefing Peeta on the whole thing in the span of a week and having him play mentor for the first time. He would’ve been spared the whole hijacking torture situation, but I don’t know if he would’ve been able to pull off the plan to get Katniss out. So it’s probably best that it was Peeta in the 75th, at least for the rebellion.
Obliviously this is based off the movie instead of the book, because in the book Peeta finds Katniss and Haymitch passed out drunk and gets angry with them. However the 3 come up with a plan that Peeta and Katniss would train like careers to go into the arena and if Haymitch was reaped (which he was) then Peeta would go in. I kinda like the idea that Haymitch and Katniss had a secret plan though, that Haymitch (like in the movie) would volunteer as tribute if Peeta was called. We know from the book that Haymitch stopped drinking in order to focus on Katniss and Peeta's training and to be a good mentor, so the issue of him going through withdrawal wouldn't be as bad as you describe. He will still suffer, especially with the PTSD, however I don't think it would be as devastating. I also think since Haymitch was aware of the rebel plan to escape, he would have accompanied Katniss with the coil to the beach instead of Johanna. The other victors wouldn't have to worry about Katniss splitting off with Haymitch because he would know to stick with the group until the rescue. I do believe Haymitch would have attempted to remove Katniss's tracker if he realised their plan was about to fail. I then believe he would have sacrificed himself to the career tributes in order for her to be saved. Would be extremely interesting.
@@StoryDiver I must have missed parts that were more based off the book. I didn't mean any disrespect, I just thought there was more evidence from the movie. But then again, "What ifs?" can never be perfect since they are all based of "what if such and such happened instead?" I do love your What if videos! My Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes hasn't arrived yet so I'm watching all these videos to get excited
Haymich has his problems but he was smart and harsh. He’d be like releasing a shrewd but wild animal. He’d plot and attack. I don’t think he’d ignore Beetee and Wiress like some of the others. Maybe he’d deteriorate over time, but he’d go in strong. If rescued he might not be too much worse for wear. The alcoholism and PTSD would be intense and horrible problems, so they could pull him down but he’d have some plans in place before ever entered the arena.
I believe that Haymitch would actually thrive in the Third Quarter Quell. He is the only person EVER to be in two of the three Quells, and from his first Games, he would have the knowledge that not everything is at it seems because we know that the 50th Games was a Poison Paradise. I think that he would have been the one to realize the clock, either because of him figuring it out or by listening to everyone in the group, which includes Wiress. With this in mind, Wiress wouldn't have died because he'd have a guard system laid out so that no one is left behind. Mags would survived as well because Peeta wouldn't have needed to be carried by Finnick. Even though he and Beetee aren't the closest of friends in the last book, I think that they and Finnick would soon form a close friendship because of their gender and the fact that they all won a significant games. Finnick was the youngest, Haymtich with the force field and the Second QQ, and Beetee by using his Districts industry against his fellow tributes by shocking them. Then of course the girls would have a closer bond as well because Johanna would learn to put up with Wiress by watching Katniss take care of her. I would hope that by the Alliance being cut in two that everyone would safely get out of the arena because there's less people to think about. (The girls worry abut the girls and vice versa). I also hope that D13's technology would be advanced enough to restore Wiress to her less skittish state and to help Mags get her speech back. As for Brutus and Enobarria, based on their actions, we can assume that they weren't two of those few tributes that knew about the plan, so the same outcome for them.
There is an amazing fanfiction series by deathmallow on AO3 that goes into this concept. Anyone who wants to read an in-depth exploration of Haymitch as a character and an AU where Haymitch goes into the arena in the Quell should check it out.
i feel like it's just such a weird thing that they intentionally set up the fact that the year haymitch won was a quarter quell and then just not have him go in for the second one?? like in the canon case he could have won any old year. i feel like it would have been much more interesting if he went just to see how he would react to everything. a whole thing with catching fire that made it interesting was seeing how past victors won and how they dealed after how they're reacting to everything now and it would've developed him so much.. hes an example of a victor who couldn't healthily cope w the psychological events of the games and seeing how that might affect him in the arena. it just makes so much more sense thematically. I'm probably biased just because i want to see more of him and Katniss and Peeta's love story is more important, but peeta was pretty much incapacitated half the time anyway so its not like we'd lose much of that. i bet they could even keep peeta's baby comment bc the capitol would want to get peeta's thoughts to help pacify the districts and sell the story so he can say that just not as a player, they get a clip from him earlier.
In my opinion it was already set up for Haymitch name to be picked first in the reaping probably by rigging the ballots. Plutarch had it already planned for Haymitch to be helping on the sidelines recruiting the victors to assist Katniss in the arena..which wouldn't be possible if Peeta wasn't reaped because Peeta would be useless in recruiting the past victors because he didn't know them in that way in which Haymitch did.So Haymitch knew he couldn't be reaped..so the plan was for him to be picked first ,knowing Peeta would volunteer..which allowed for Haymitch to help behind the scenes.Everthing was set up by Plutarch and Haymitch...the games and the reaping...to initiate the rebellion....it didn't make sense that the reaping wouldn't be set up either
It would've been interesting to see Haymitch as a tribute, but I would've been more interested to see what would've happened with Peeta being the mentor. The rebels would have to loop him in on enough info so that he could assist with their plans, but how much would they actually have told him? And how would he respond to their plan? I'm sure he'd be onboard with the rescue mission, but since he's not into war, would he really become a rebel, or just play along until Katniss was safe? That's what I've always wondered. Also, love your vids 👍
I think Haymitch would do fine in the arena, actually. In the book, he stays sober for several weeks until the reaping so he most likely wouldn't have problems with withdrawal. Personally, I think his alcoholism is somewhat exaggerated by Katniss. He stays at least mostly sober throughout both of their Games without going into major withdrawal and copes pretty well with the withdrawal in the second book. He's clear headed through all of it, able to mentor them extremely well, while also secretely planning a revolution. He couldn't do that if his addiction was as bad as Katniss makes it out to be. I really like your point about PTSD. However, I think survival instinct would probably kick in big time once they got into the arena and he simply wouldn't have the time to think about anything else but survival. Unless he'd get trapped with the birds, that would probably not be pretty. In terms of what he brings to the arena: Just like Betee and Wiress, it would be his intelligence. While he lacks physical strength, there are tributes (like Betee and the camouflage-guys) who didn't need pyhsical strength to win. Haymitch won his Games based on his intelligence in the end, not because of his strength (even though he did use it), and he'd be able to again use that to his advantage. I actually think his biggest weakness would be Katniss. He'd go out of his way to protect her, just like Finnick does with Megs, and he could make mistakes because of that. I could also definitely see him sacrificing himself for Katniss in some way.
I'd love to see a video about what would have happened if there was no rebellion after the 75th games. What would Katniss and Peeta be like as mentors etc.?
I think that Effie was a part of the plan, and that the reaping was rigged. Either both papers had Haymitches' name because Plutarch made sure Haymitch was on both or Effie read Haymitch even if she had drawn Peeta because she was in on the plan. Peeta was in the dark, while Haymitch knew the plan. Peeta had to go in.
I think haymitch would probably be rescued by district 13. One of the only reasons they didn't rescue peeta was because his tracker wasn't removed, because he didn't know that it should be. Because haymitch was part of the rebel plan, he would know to cut his tracker out so the Capitol can't track him, meaning he could be rescued by the district 13 hovercraft
I think that Haymitch will face a withdrawal but as we saw in the Mockingjay part 1 & 2, he was able to overcome that withdrawal, He has Katniss in which he consider his real friend. He will be able to fight well, he might still have the skill to fight.
Hey!! As far as I remember, in the movies, Haymich and Effie end up together at the end? At least I like to believe they actually do❤️ I'd be interested to hear your opinion on this, maybe even a whole video :)
They do kiss at the end, though wether this leads to a relationship or not is up to interpretation! I personally ship them together so would like to think they do actually end up together!
Hi friends! A quick reminder not to post spoilers for "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes". The book isn't out in many countries yet, and won't be for another few weeks, so it's incredibly inconsiderate.
Also, many of you have been asking when I'll make videos about it. I won't be making videos about it until the movie adaptation is released, as this firstly gives everyone time to buy and read the book, and secondly will allow us to use the secondary canon that is a movie to base ideas off of. wow, you now have a whole new book to make videos about but out of compassion for your viewers you are holding off until the next movie is made - i really respect that, thanks for being so considerate
however if you wanted too i'm sure you could make videos about specific topics in the new book with a clear title, spoiler warnings and ambiguous thumbnails, and then change the thumbnail and title after the movie is released? perhaps you didn't want too do it, which is fine too. regardless, i hope you like the new book!
Story Diver you should read the books they go into great detail ab how all three of them train and get into shape and I do believe hamich quits drinking so by u saying he would have been a bad choice for this is wrong but other words decent video keep up the good work- sorry for spelling I’m drunk 🥴.
Imagine if Haymich won the quarter quell then he be the first tribute to win two quarter quells
Yes every other tribute will be famous because of winning two games but Haymich would win two games with big a twist
Mark Darmody yeh that would be cool
I agree that would be cool
Mark Darmody omg yes
a tribute can't win 2 games unless at least 1 is a quarter quell
@@jjgarcia7593 He meant any of the winners of the 75th Hunger Games would be extra famous, not every tribute....
I think that Haymitch rather than being paralysed by his PTSD would become more determined and would turn his attention to keeping Katniss alive meaning he would have gone with her when they put the coil of wire in the beach and would’ve come to District 13 with her
It's very possible!
But haymitch was swift footed so Beeta would let him go
In his original hunger games the second quarter quell, Haymitch was fast, agile, strong, skilled with a knife, and intelligent as he outsmarted one of the district 1 females that year with the forcefield+axe stunt that got his family and girlfriend killed because he made the Capitol look like idiots.
That makes sense!
Haymitch probably trained for the games since there is no way he could be so skilled, fast, and agile with a knife
I imagine the Capital has some kind of rapid withdrawal drug that Haymitch could take in order to avoid that aspect in the arena.
@@korie4198 who knows? Maybe the Capitol made sure that whichever liquor bottle Haymitch specifically bought from Ripper, that woman from the Hob who sells that substance, had that drug in his bottles and told her to keep quiet on the penalty of death.
Ok but just imagine Haymitch and Katniss in the tribute parade .......-.-
Edit: Thanks for the likes guys 😃
Yea ಠ_ಠ
😆
It would be so funny and awkward
NOEL WARD yes
OOF
Hamitch would be good in the quarter quell because he won the quarter quell will double the amount of tributes
It’s possible!
He’s also 25 years older tho
being in an arena with double the amount of people is different from being in an arena with very experienced killers and victors. so no haymitch wouldn’t necessarily have the skills.
@@nathan2552 but remember brutus and chaff were like 40 to 50 and still did very well
@@cindithompson856 but haymitch was an unhealthy alcoholic

Secondly haymitch would be very important and I can't think of anything extra to what you said

Jones Family I am!

Jones Family thank you ☺️
@@StoryDiver Good luck
Cjaff was Haymitch's best friend amongst the Victor's (at least I think so), so he could be encouraged to kill him to avenge Chaff.
Haymitch is smart and probably would kill brutus with his tricks
He would have to use code language to Peeta to explain the rebel plan and send him messages in the arena, He would try his best to protect Katniss but due to his addictions and old age, it would be unlikely he would survive this event or be rescued as district 13 would find him useless in the rebellion
Very true!
You and Movieflame are the only channels I watch for Hunger Games lol.
Try watching Christian Blanco, he makes up his own games!
Ananya Ghose yeah I also watch him. But I’m talking about theories lol.
Ethan NO Then change your comment to “You and Movieflame are the the only theory channels I watch for The Hunger Games lol. No hate nor annoyed. Just bored. Really bored. 😐
@Ananya Ghose I love this videos
Same
Ironically: I think the 'power' of choice should be given to the one reaped, they should be able to choose consent for the volunteers to take their place. After all, wouldn't the Capitol want their tributes to initially see the games as more of a lucky honor, than a hopeless damnation?
That’s a good idea!
I think Haymitch is one of the greatest because he is the only alive survivor of a quarter quell. He won the games with 48 tributes.I think the games would have been interesting too.I find Haymitch a great entertaining character. Btw live your vids
Haymitch is great!
Thanks for taking my mind off of the uncertainty in our world for a few minutes!
Happy to help! It’s important to find ways to relax and reduce our anxiety. Stay safe, and perhaps more importantly, stay calm 💚
Since Haymitch knew, he would have had to be saved. If he let out that information, it would be game over for the rebels. It would be likely that Snow would keep an eye on Haymitch, as he had upset him before in the 2nd Quater Quell.
Very true!
That makes a lot of sense!
He wouldnt drown actually. In the books it’s mentioned that they have these flotation things around their hips that prevents them from drowning
That would have been risky for haymitch to be in the games knowing what he knew. I think he he would have found a way to be killed or kill himself before the capitol would get anything out of him.
That seems likely!
Okay but why did Effie sound relieved when she called Haymitch. Did she know Peeta would volunteer? Was she glad it *wasn't* Peeta? *I DON'T KNOW*
I think she was relieved it wasn’t Peeta

He would sacrifice himself.
It’s possible!
Honestly I’m more invested in your amazing lipstick😝

The lore was always so intriguing to me. The writing, let’s face it, is good enough for the basic subject matter. It leaves a lot to be desired. I love this channel for the lore behind it all.
“Remember who the real enemy is.”
“I’m not the enemy...”
Cmon. This should’ve been a series of mini series and it would’ve redefined story telling for the masses.
“DUCK!?” Finn is the boss mode outta the gate.
In the movies sooo much hangs upon Katniss just figuring it all out, sort of? It’s cheap and lazy. The movies did a great job in general for the time constraints they had.
Wouldn’t Haymitch be the first and only victor to have been part of two quarter quells?
Yes he would have
Such a special character. Wish they had enough time for his past in the movies. But that’s why I read the books, and why they’re better.
Matthew Berry very true!
That would only happen if the invasion never happened because it caused the games to end with no victor.
I’ve binged watch all your videos and I love them it really makes you think what if all this happened
Thank you, I’m glad you liked them!
What a great video! Have fun with your little baby once He/She is delivered! Im very proud of you! Keep up the great work!

PS. I,m glad that this video came out today as its my bday and it was very enjoyable to watch. 🎂🎉🎈
Happy birthday! I personally love Haymitch, so I wouldn’t say you’re strange at all!!!
These videos are literally the only thing getting me through quarantine thank u😭

Next to Peeta, he is arguably her biggest source of comfort and security (aside from Gale)
And if they got Peeta instead of Katniss, he could give her the strength she needed to be the Mockingjay.
What if Tresh had killed Katniss after he killed Clove?
I’ll look into it!
Thank you :)
i love your channel and congratulations on the baby!

Ok thank you
Wait what if there was no living victors in one district
I suppose tributes would be reaped normally, as if there was no twist
an interesting topic, and a nice video!
Thank you!
I love your channel!! I love Hunger Games!
Thank you!
ok but imagine Haymitch in the fire suit and actually burning because he drank something before. That gives "catching fire" a whole new meaning...
Heres how I think it would play out:
Katniss is the first to the Cornucopia, followed quickly by Finnick.
For the games:
- Katniss (rue still dies)
- Haymitch (with the mockinjay)
- Johanna (badass)
- Enobaria (badass)
- Blight (with Johanna and also PTSD and revenge)
- Chaff (same as Blight)
- Wiress (probably the first time that she disagrees with Beetee, the trauma that she faces and the everyday struggles of her disability are both from her games, she wants revenge.)
Against the games:
- Finnick (sees hope in his child and just how savage the games are)
- Annie (same as Finnick)
- Peeta (hes tired of the conflict)
-Beetee "we need to stop seeing each other as enemies"
So yeah, the 76th Hunger Games take place with the Capitols children.
What if you are born 1 to 6 years after a quarter quell and never get reaped? Sounds very, very lucky

hey girl, insightful takes you've put together., im a psychologist from eastern africa i think haymitch would have been fine. when people face extreme trauma repetitively as haymitch has done due to being in and out of the arena he would have a unique insight of getting 1 more sponsers from friends that survived but also from his expericene of killing twice as many people than the rest of the victors. also trauma resistance is a funny thing, enough of the same trauma can cause someone to bounce back so much fast as they live in constant survival mode, their dreams them how to avoid certain new traps daily so it he would have had more being the only district 12 mentor, typically it daily activities like bathing jobs eating well that they truly struggle with, as we see haymitch struggles with. a bouncy ball doesnt know how not to bounce, haymitch is that.
Awesome vid!
Thank you!
I this Woody Harris is the perfect person to play the drunk, lonely, and tired Haymitch
It’d be cool to see Peeta and Katniss to mentoring the tributes of the next hunger games. Too bad that the uprising happened before the next hunger games
I think that he would struggle quite a bit in the beginning but the fact that he is crucial to the larger plan would motivate him to keep going, for the rebels and the rebellion
imagine if haymitch went into 2 quarter quells

Awesome video! I have a video suggestion that I’ve been thinking about quite a lot recently, who would have won the 75th Hunger Games if the rebel plan never ended up happening? (If the games were played as normal games, without all of the rebels teaming up). Just a suggestion, thank you!
I've done a video that covers this 😉
In the books it was stated that Haymitch was winded easily when running for a short period of time. Not only would he be out of shape his withdrawal symptoms with him being in a hostile environment would make him on edge rather quickly which would often get himself hurt or perhaps even killed in the arena despite Katniss and Finnick doing their best to save him.
Did you know that out of Effie, Katniss, Haymitch, and Peeta, their last names spell team? Trinket, Everdeen, Abernathy, Mellark. T-E-A-M.
It's very possible that the reaping was rigged!
Doubt it was rigged pretty risky for the Capitol to assume peeta would volunteer for haymitch katniss is the main target
Can you please do:what if Katniss never pulled out those berries

@@StoryDiver your welcome
Haymitch would probably be the only one who has done the Quater Quell twice.
Story Diver Oh OK. Anyways your videos are really great and I subscribed.
Never underestimate the life long alcoholic in the hunger games XD
If Haymitch was in the 3rd quarter quell he would be the first tribute to be in two quarter quells.

hey can you make a video about what would have happened if the rule of the first movie, you know the one that says that if thw two members of the same district are alive they can team up.
because if that wouldn´t have happened most of the love action wouldn't have happened and maybe they would not be alive

You should do a video about what if Katniss was taken by the capitol at that point instead of Peeta and what whould have happened to the rebel plan. How would have Peeta reacted to this? Would Katniss have been Hijacked like he was?
I'll look into it!
It would be interesting to have one video about the first quarter quell
In either case, he's dead, because he would have died in the arena to protect Katniss, if necessary, but then, when the rescue happens, if 13 didn't pick him up, he'd die in the Capitol to guard all the information he had. Other than Plutarch, Haymitch was probably the only other person who knew the entire plan.
Very true!
I think you should do what if Katniss Peeta and Rue were the last tribute standing
I’ll look into it!
Can you make a video about what would happen if Brutus killed Peeta
I’ll look into it!
Just an idea (once you start making new videos again) what if thresh hadnt died like he had killed cato so it would be Katniss, peeta, thresh and fox face you dont have to just an idea
I'll look into it!
Katniss would kill thresh and katniss may or may not lose popularity with the districts the events Would mostly unfold the same
As much as I would’ve loved to see Haymitch in the 75th Games, I think he had much lower survival odds than Peeta so it wouldn’t have worked storywise.
This is based on both the book and the movie
It’s possible!
Haymitch is fast and killed three careers coming at him he is fast and has good survival knowledge
Can you do a video about other arenas and there possibilities katniss and peeta could’ve had
I'll look into it!
I’d also love if you could say your top 10 or top 20 hunger games characters
hey, have you read the books caraval, legendary and finale, btw love the hunger games vids and i love you
I have not!
I believe that Haymitch would end up not volunteering because he knows the plan and Katniss would hate him I think that would be a good twist I think
I'd love to see a video about what would have happened if there was no rebellion after the 75th games. What would Katniss and Peeta be like as mentors etc.?
I’ll look into it!
Also great video I forgot to mension
Thank you!
