- Hi friends! This week we look at the third Quarter Quell!
When Peeta claims Katniss is pregnant, he does so in the hopes that the 75th Hunger Games be cancelled. Cancelling the 3rd Quarter Quell would have had multiple repercussions both for the country and personally for Katniss and Peeta. So what would have happened had the 75th Hunger Games been cancelled?

Something that has always bothered me is the fact that they show Gloss and Cashmere being interviewed at the same time... I understand that they are siblings but if they were interviewed together Peeta and Katniss definitely would’ve been interviewed together as well since people would want to see them together... just inconsistent
In the books I believe they do it separately. It's just a movie thing lol.

I think if they pulled Katniss out, Snow would re-reap Prim in her place. Since he most def knew that Katniss is not actually pregnant, this would be a perfect way to punish her. Maybe he would let Katniss back in if she publically announced that she lost her baby. If not, she would have to watch her sister get slaughtered in the arena.
I don’t think that anyone would kill prim, she is only 13 so that’s a new low even for the careers for an adult to kill a 13 year old, plus the rebel pack would protect her
@@a-dog1125 yeah but as we saw, even Katniss barely survived and that was with protection. Prim is much more fragile. Also, Prim wouldn't even end up going since Katniss would comply and announce that she lost her baby, thus being allowed back into the Games
he other s would make sure Prim and Peeta win. The Careers would be pretty low if they just kill an innocent 13 year old girl.
The worst thing is that if Peeta was in the arena, she could't get pregnant with him. For sure Capitol has a way of finding out who the father is, even if she was pregnant and had a baby i think that they would punish her just for the fact, that she lied and Peeta was't the father.
I think it was mentioned in the books that Prim was exceptionally loved by the capital. I think it is very in character for snow to do this, but maybe, as some other commenters mentioned, people in the capital would be upset and the victors would believe it was a low for themselves as adults to hurt her.
I actually dont think they wouldve waited a year to do a quarter quell. They couldve just changed the tributes and said "The tributes are to be reaped from the previous victors' family members".

Or, even better, all victors will return to the arena and the districts that don't have enough victors, like 7, 11, and 12, would have the count offset with the victors family and the children of the head honchos in each district.
What if katniss died in the 74th hunger games? Will district 12 only have 1 tribute?

They’d have two because the victors weren’t originally supposed to go into it. The original twist would’ve happened and likely at least two tributes would’ve entered

I think the biggest twist would be if Snow changed the rule to revoke the privileges of former hunger games, so 74th HG children that were volunteer for would go with former victors. It seems like a dark reality if Katniss had to mentor Prim, and the biggest way for Snow to exact revenge on Katniss.
I also wondered this the first time I ever saw the film. I think they could have changed the quell to use 'regular' tributes and as long as there were no major shenanigans during this game, the rebellion could've been easily quashed and things would've gone on relatively normally.

i personally would have cahnged the quell. i rhink i would have done it that the number of the district is how many tributes goin to the arena for example District 1 = 1 tribute District 12 = 12 tributes
That’s a cool idea. Imagine the district twelve and eleven tributes banding together as like a tribe and just stampeding everyone lol. Then there would be about a full arena of just 11 and 12, which would suck cause in those districts it’s frowned upon to kill your district partner but it’s bound to happen.
More likely the careers would try and team up with more districts than usual, and the large alliances may break before the rest are dead, which makes the twisty twists more interesting, the capitol would likely bet on twelve or the careers in four because they outnumber the other careers and would be more likely to win as careers and as the largest group.
In order for the storm to work, they’d have to at least ally with ten or one other district for it to actually work.

No, I don't think so, I think they would use mutts or pods to make them fight
That’s a cool theory, but it probably wouldn’t be well executed.
That just doesn’t seem like something the capital would do, considering how they’re always able to find a way to push the tributes closer together. I’m sure they would be able to find more of an incentive for them to fight.
Video idea: the games are obviously the main form of entertainment for the capitol, but it only happens once a year. When the games aren't happening what would they do for entertainment? Would there be sports played by teams of capitol citizens kind of like how we watch sports today?

I would do as you suggested call it off, mention that there's going to be a focus on this development (Katniss's missed wedding and pregnancy) with the promise of a bigger, better games next year as an incentive for the Capitol citizens to go along with it.. It's like saying don't touch the cookie and I'll give you 2...
I came up with a quarter quell idea that I wanted to share.
To remind us that Panem had no outside help during the rebellion, the games will allow no mentors to be involved. This means that the tributes won’t get any tips from their mentors (or anyone else for that matter) before the games and there will be no gifts from the sponsors.
considering mentors where introduced for the 10th game that wouldn't be a big surprise because they had 9 hunger games without mentors (and it lasted only a couple hours)
Cool idea but that already happened for the first 9 games and it was not interesting and the quarter quell is supposed to be very interesting and unique
I feel like the uprising would have been delayed or even not have happened or it would show that Snow/ the game makers listen to the people showing that they will compromise on something. What do you guys think?

Touching on that last thing you said. I feel like If they would have taken Katniss out of the games they would try to punish or “get back” at Katniss for making them have to remove her from the games they wouldn’t put Haymitch in or have a separate repaint, instead they would make Prim go in there Idk it seems like something they would do
Is it possible that they would "accidentally" put Prim in if Katniss was taken out of the game? I think that Snow would know that this is the exact scenario that would break her the most. Also it would hurt Peeta-Snow may not care for him much but he WOULD be the one responsible for the outrage by Capitol the most.
Also, from the Gamemaker/TV perspective this is good drama. Katniss, who just barely avoided being back in the game has to choose between the two people she loves the most-Peeta and Prim. Imagine READING that. That would be a good story (as long as it's JUST a story of course). And that is kind of what the Capitol sees the tributes as-characters in a story, not real people.

I think for the 76th hunger games the special twist would be the tributes are to be reaped from the victors families to get back at Katniss. So I think for 12 it would be Prim and Gale. Yeah Gale isn’t Katniss’ family but they pretended Gale was her cousin and then she’d have to mentor the 2 people she loves most and watch them go into the games
they have to wait for the 4th quarter quell to have a new twist like this, so it would have been the 100th hunger games not the 76th
This 3rd Quarter Quell gave me an idea. What if the Second Rebellion was successful because of Snow's change to the Quarter Quell? At least the sponsors and people betting on the games would naturally be familiar with the rules of the competition and they would know that a victor does not return to the arena. By reaping from the pool of victors, I suspect many of the Capitol's citizens suddenly became aware of Snow's corruption.

If I was the game maker, I would order a pregnancy test on Katniss to ultimately determine whether she is pregnant or not.

At my English class we were told to create our own stories so I wrote a hunger games story about a victor named Lucious Goldclaw from district 1 he is a strong, smart, handsome, manipulative, cunning, arrogant, and cruel victor of the 53rd hunger games he's very popular in the capital and in district 1, he sees every district which isn't district 1 as inferior. He is killed by the rebels in the victors purge at the age 40
i think if they pulled katniss they would put prim in, creates drama, especially since katniss volunteered for prim in the first place

I’m not sure if you have done a video in this already, but I was wondering for the hunger games, what was meant to happen in catching fire/ what would have happened if katniss didn’t destroy the arena? Would more people have died and there only been one winner, or all the survivors still survived? - I’m also sorry if this is explained in the book, I haven’t got time to read it yet!

I think that if katniss was pulled out of the quarter quells they would bring in prim to take her place. Prim was meant to participate in the 74 hunger games and her being in the arena would be a form of punishment for katniss not being in the games anymore, prim most likely would not have any training or interviews and would immediately be thrown into the games as soon as she got to the capital
i think they could have switched it to “you are safe but your loved ones are not” and put them in the arena
Since age wasn't an issue, Snow could have given Katniss the choice--either she willingly and publicly consents to go in, or her mother (or maybe Prim) gets sent in her place. Knowing Snow's devious mind, that's what I think he would propose anyway.

If I were a gamemaker or Head-gamemaker I would make a quick Hunger Game with 12 females from District 12 with them having only 9 hours to be the last one standing, if there isn't 1 Victor by those 9 hours, I would randomly select one of the 12 tributes and either set free the other 11 or just kill them to replace Katniss' place.

I think since I would be a cruel gamemaker I would have Peeta and Haymitch go into the arena and katniss mentor them but I would also rig it so both of them died. So the capitol would still have their revenge on her.

I'd try to put rebellion involved people who have any relation to the victors into the games and swap them with the actual victors. But for 12, it would mean that Haymitch and Prim would have to go into the games so that Peeta and Katniss would have to flee. They also had to rescue them as well as many involved tributes as possible. Just like 13 did with Katniss, Finnick and Beetee.
If I'm right they were only able to rescue 2 of I guess 10 involved victors bc 7 died and Johanna got kidnapped by the capitol. If I was able to change the rules like discribed, then I would hope that Katniss would be able to rescue more of the good ones. I would try to convince Snow that we would kill Katniss and sell it as suicide bc it was to much to lose her sister and her baby. But just like Plutarch did, I'd flee with the mentors and try to rescue most of the victors, especially Prim and Haymitch.

Either way, if they had either cancelled the Games or taken Katniss out based on the outcry from the Capitol, it would’ve shown the districts that with enough outcry and violence, they could get their way. So I think either way Snow would’ve still went through with the Games
I think if they would have canceled this quell with the victors they would have just delayed the games by a week or so instead of cancelling the quell altogether. The arena was already built, the game plan was still in place. So it would make sense if instead of sending the previous victors and they had another reaping in which the children or family members of previous victors were to be chosen. That means Prim goes in, no one is there to save her this time, Peeta’s middle brother goes in assuming he’s still in the age range. And if a victor doesn’t have any family or children, like in Joannah’s case, send in one of their close friends. As for the whole baby situation part of my thinks they would pretend Katniss had a miscarriage, but another part of me thinks that snow would know they were lying and give Katniss an ultimatum to get pregnant now or I’ll kill your loved ones.
Not only ordering Katniss to get pregnant, but also telling her that her child will be reaped when at age.
In other words: The choice of loosing Prim OR loosing (later) her child. As for relatives and friends....remember the second book where Joanna tells : I'm not as you all.There is no one left who I love ....in fact the same as for Haymitch.

Like many previous comments have said, Prim or Haymitch in the games would be good revenge because they are family to her. I think if they cancelled the games the Capitol and the Districts would be happy but then they could start to rebel to stop the hunger games happening again. Some Capitol citizens could even stop watching the Hunger Games after seeing there favourite people die for entertainment. As said on a previous video I think Katniss wouldn’t be bad as a mentor. I think I’ve commented this before but if richer District 12 or other district citizens that had money had a good TV would there be anything else to watch aside from mandatory news or The Hunger Games? I hope someone knows. Also I love your lipstick; where did you get it? I love these videos. I know you said they weren’t really your thing but I’d consider reading Divergent. I used to prefer Divergent when I was younger to the Hunger games so it’s a tiny smidgy bit more childish and it’s a bit more snappy but it’s a good read. 😁

If I were a gamemaker I would delay the games, but only for a month or two instead of a full year. Come up with a new theme for the reaping and redo training and interviews, and use the same clock arena
Maybe the theme could be that instead of reaping from the existing pool of victors, it's a pool of citizens of any age that have been previously volunteered for, which would still get back at Katniss by sending Prim into the games without actually sending Katniss in.
There might not be enough eligible tributes for this in the noncareer districts though, so they might just have to skip forward to whatever the 100th Quell was supposed to be, or use the original Quell idea for the 75th before Snow changed it
Imagine everyone getting on their plates and rising into the arena, the countdown starts and when it finishes, the arena disappears and itturns out they were on a Capitol reality tv show "thats not the hunger games" called So You Think You Were In The Hunger Games

But Katniss isn't as close to her mom as she is to Prim, it would hurt her more to reap Prim.
@@josheydubs That’s a good point! My thought process was everyone was older than the age range of 12-18, so I guess sending in her mother wild somewhat balance it out if she wasn’t able to compete! Sad either way 😭

This is a super late reply, but the whole point of the games was to punish katniss. I think that if they took katniss out, they would have replaced her with Prim. Snow realizes her family is extremely important to her, especially her little sister. I think it would have been the most dramatic choice.

so if i were to be snow and a game maker i would deffenitely want katniss to suffer , sooooo i think i would be like ok katniss is not enetring this years games but, either her mom or prim have to go . and i would make it as a normal reaping just so see which one of them goes but, no one can volunteer for anyone , which kinda gives the thing that prim more likely would go to the games , and well prim going to the arena would destroy katniss. and well both peeta and prim would likely die but they do have things in favor , like everyone on the capitol likes both soooooo , yea probably i would do that.
and if they get cancelled i probably make a really deathly arena probably a maze but lets duplicate the tributes , no weapons( so thy would kill each other like hand to hand) or food. tons of mutts , no sponsor gifts(or the prices would be really reallly high) , lots of things and also probbaly put prim and probably one of gales brother or sister , and also someone from peetas family, and probably would not put a age range , so everyone from all ages would go . like imagne a 43 year old killing a 12 year old , tbh that would be so shokingto the viwers . this arena is going to be like one of the biggest . amd deathliest of all time and still would call them the quiarter quell 76. almost forgot if you want to win you have to be in the center of the maze , if you are the last one but you are not in the center you cannot win and if you are the last one and not in the center you will have a limited time to reach the center and win ,if not you are going to die. (probably there would no be a winner this year ) and the kills or murders would be brutal ,

I would guess that if they pulled katniss they would punish her by either replacing her with prim or her mother, but it’s more likely that if they cancelled it they would just reap for a different quarter quell theme a few weeks later

I think if the capital ended up pulling Katniss from the games they would put Prim in her place. I believe this because one of the reasons they wanted to put Katniss in it was so that she could die and having Katniss watch Prim likely die would have a strong effect on her. Also, Prim should’ve gone in the area the first time but Katniss obviously didn’t let that happen.
If I was gamemaker, I would have decided to change it so Katniss becomes a mentor, and change the reaping to her family and mentor. So, Peeta, Haymitch, Prim, their mother, Gale and his family (set up as cousins) would then be reaped, with Katniss exempt from the games. Id either rig it to get the most emotional response from Katniss (revenge) with Katniss's mother or Prim being reaped along with Peeta or Gale, or have her choose 2 herself. Either way, I win.
I do believe with the way Panem was at the time There will be no choice in the matter they would have to continue the hunger games just like they do in the movies with the way everyone sees the victors and the white everything is written in the box it didn’t matter to president snow even if she was eight months pregnant he wanted her dead and probably a lot of the victors dead Because as of the first hunger games book the two most problematic victors were in 12 both of them made the Capital look stupid
And when you find out how Haymitch was bound determined to find the edge of the arena it makes you wonder when Katniss split off and was very far from anyone around you understand they decided to set part of the arena on fire

they could just fake the birth and say that they're in bad condition, so the baby and katniss had to be kept in a special treatment place, to keep them away from people, im pretty sure snow would play along if it meant calming the districts down.

That was actually explained in the book! They are delivered back to their families after the games fully conclude in body bags. However they aren’t always put together so it wasn’t uncommon for a head or something else to be missing.
I think it's more likely the capitol would have changed the rules and simply used the rules for the next quarter quell (100th).
If they did get cansled, I think they would of used prim in her place
I would pull katniss away to avoid riot in the capitol, and take the last tribute 12 had before katniss's volunteering, so prim in the arena. But in case the pregnant wasn't katniss, but another victor, and there were no tributes from the year before I would get a male victor or, if not possible, a family member of a victor. So, instead of the pregnant tribute, her mother or sister.
For me I would have a Hunger Games and the rules would be the same however I would pull out Katniss in her place I would make Prim fight it makes sense she was chosen previously But Katniss took her place. This works well for 3 reasons.
1.There is still a girl/guy team dynamic
2.Prim has been Reaped previously so even though she didn’t complete she should be a viable(back up)candidate.
3. It a way to punish Katniss for denying the Capitol there wedding .
4. It keeps the capital in control .
5. It makes the capital happy and Snow in power.

I think if they did pull Katniss out of the games they would replace her with Prim, as she was the tribute she originally volunteered for as well as being a relative. Also Snow would know how much that would destroy her.
I think if they were to pull Katniss out of the arena, they would put Prim in her place, since she’s Katniss’s sister and in the age bracket for being reaped (12-18)
The third quarter quell was the worst idea they had
if they took Katniss out what if snow insisted they put prim in and make it so Katniss couldn't volunteer for her again? True Prim isn't a victor but she's Katniss's sister, and if Snow wanted to make sure Katniss wouldn't "get away" with not being in the games he would torment her by making her watch her little sister in the games unable to physically protect her. Prim would be totally at the capital's mercy. And if they found out during the games that Katniss and Petta lied about the pregnancy they could do something to Prim in the arena as punishment.
Honestly I think the easiest way for the Capitol to appease everyone would be to scrap the card used, and instead use the card designated for the next Quarter Quell. If they weren't written in advance like they were supposed to be, I'm sure the Gamemakers could've come up with some alternate twist to put on the 75th Games. That way they'd (presumably) calm everyone down enough to minimize the chances of rebellion those Games alone could've caused, and any dissent that the Capitol people could've expressed about losing their victors, especially a "pregnant" one.

Panem has this really cool technology and you have hovercrafts holograms and other things.
But why isn’t there any space travel ?
They should have the technology to do it?
Realistically, they are still recovering from the civil war that started the Hunger Games, they don’t have the infrastructure or time to start space travel
