Here it is 2014 and I am just now viewing your upload. Probably some newer apps by now but this is a good start and you have helped save me time. Thanks to you Musicarta.
Excellent excellent excellent video tutorial. I seldom comment on videos, but you did a great job with clear explanations and so much info. Before finding this video I had been reading bits and pieces about portable apps on many different websites. You put it all in one place, thanks!
I use portable apps as main programs and always try to leave my c:\ (or system/windows partition) untouctched so it won't fragment contantly. I use other drives to put my files and try not to put any files on the desktop. Well I create shortcuts in it but that's it. And it works in the way I don't see speed lags over the time. I don't do updates as well. Once in a while I check for viruses but have no AV installed as well. I also have it imaged/cloned for once in a while. Portableapps rule!
I thought once in having virtualbox as a main OS over my XP but then I don't know what happened and I just stick to use PA as a laucher for exes outside my system drive and stopped doing it or maybe because there was this update on VBox or something and since that something went wrong I dunno. I use Papps in another partition not another type of drive like in a usb. (tho I have papps in some stick around here somewhere as well).
@pawelweb1 Well you can only put a given number or programs on the SD card until the capacity is full. Mind you, SD cards are nowhere near as usable or reliable as USB Flash Drives when it comes to portable apps; some computers don't even have an SD card slot! I would advise investing in a USB Flash drive of a more considerable size if you want to to this process properly. Have a great day!

I think you forgot two mega good apps to add: portable Putty and portable Norton Ghost.
@Musicarta Yeah I Know That's Why I Have To Get A Pen Drive Right Now!
Hi mate, my computer keeps on flagging this as a virus. How can I still search for apps without getting flagged?
It only flaggs when i go on portable apps
