Keep them eyes peeled for Cherry keyboards... they can be worth decent money, and tend to be pretty damn good too.Been ages since I went to a boot sale, even since I started getting some retro computers - should really find a good one close enough - it is the season after all :D
There is a car boot equivalent at most American Flea Markets, or at least some smaller vendors. I do miss traipsing around in a muddy field for a few hours, though.
The US does have flea markets, which seem to be similar to Car Boots, though I never see flea markets around here anymore. Also my area has several town wide yard sales at the beginning and end of the yard sale seasons, which would be even more similar to car boot sales.
+Kandi Gloss I'm from the UK but did travel out to San Jose and they had a good flea market - I got some Genesis games and a PSone for a couple of dollars. But I have to say Car Boots over here are far more awesome.
BrooksterMax That is why I used the example of town wide yard sales instead, I'm thinking they are probably more similar to car boots. Where flea markets are more just a bunch of sleazy fly by night second hand good sellers, and a car boot is just a bunch of normal people selling their stuff at one spot. I really don't know why something like that isn't more common over here outside of one or two times a year events.
I know you are Norwich lad, bit further down the a11 near Barton Mills there is a big boot sale there that I frequent. As there are several US airbases nearby, often see US sellers and some funky US stuff including games that are worth a go. Anyway most impressed with your Amiga Their Finest Hour pickup, wow would love that one. Great series by the way, looking forward to the next episodes.
I think Mouse Trap first appeared in the 1960s. That's well done getting your hands on an 1960s version of the game. At some point in the 1980s my next door neighbour gave me and my sister a brand new Mouse Trap, being that it was a 1980s built whose whole trap was made of cheap plastic and once you set the ball rolling you would have to give it a little nudge with your finger to keep it rolling, you would often have to to this several times per releasing the trap. I've heard that the 1960s originals are far less prone to the marble getting stuck. If it's in good playable condition I'd be keeping, as kids we loved Mouse Trap, that was if the bloody trap would work properly.
Those wireless keyboards you looked at briefly; I'd be willing to bet that none of them had the receivers with them, making them all useless. Well, for Microsoft and Logitech, you can usually buy the receivers separately, but that kind of negates the bargain of buying a used one. I see wireless keyboards all the time in Goodwill and other thrift stores and they NEVER have the receiver with them. Sometimes I see wireless mice with the same problem. I've pointed it out to the employees, but they don't care.
America has swap meets but usually are done more rogue style and not as advertised. Sometimes they include some seedy stuff most often its electronics and auto parts. The problem is a legal one. Often they need to be done on private property or without letting the authorities know that a large group of people are selling stuff in a public space which is somewhat illegal. But I know that police surplus says used items and still charges tax so it really feels like they can make up whatever rules they want.
0:47 Of course, I myself would have made a Wander joke... 1:13 I remember the primary school I went to had a number of JVC boomboxes, and the primary school I was studying at before that had those Panasonic flat style boomboxes. 1:33 Wait, are those books inside those paper protector things I would stick inside a file I had in my school days? 6:53 Pretty sure that album's called "Now That's What I Call Music 5" 10:08 Oh wow that end screen where you didn't even use the correct MS Sans Serif font...
we have these in america, we don't call them booty sales or what have you but we have them. In my area they're called swap meets. you got a lot of stuffs though, I imagine you resale most of it beast thats a lot of tat.
the only thing I hate about these videos is that they make me want to go to a yard sale or thrift shop (or an annual local event called hamfest which is like a massive yard sale all about electronics) SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad, problem is, I'm 13 and broke.
Wimbledon market is probably the best for this type of thing. At least you don't pop up and way your hands around in an exaggerated manner like Pat Contri does (wink).
Looks like a good boot mate, lots of stuff :) I like the late start time. My local one has gotten out of hand its supposed to be sellers at 8am buyers at 9am however in reality its sellers 5am and buyers 6am. So if I want to go then its up at 5am on a Sunday !!! I would be interested to hear about you best gaming and non gaming related finds ? For myself I got a Dreamcast for 50p that after a little work looks like new, video on my channel if you are interested. For non video games I picked up a lot of games workshop stuff for a £5 turns out it was worth £300+ :)
+Izzie many more sellers know the value of stuff now than compared to the early to mid 2000s where I would walk away with consoles and games for next to nothing among other great finds. However if you are patient and arrive early, there are still some gems to be unearthed.
Nice! Man, I wish I lived in my home city... We had a huge market every Sunday... Nothing as awesome as Amiga games there, but still... Lots of old toys ;)
I dunno where you keep putting all this stuff while you're carrying it out, must be a lot of trips back to the car. That, or you have a Tardis-like inventory system like a video game character who seems to be able to produce an an entire suit of armor from his pockets, while wearing another heavier suit of armor and carrying a variety of swords, bows, and the odd club for things that cannot be shot or stabbed. You seen to find some cool stuff at these things, I usually gravitate towards electronics though ,old stereos and such. We do have these kinds of sales in the US though we call them flea markets, even if it's just a bunch of people selling stuff out of the back of their car, they set up in various places. One that closed that was both an indoor thrift type store with various private businesses and an outdoor flea market / "Boot sale" was known as Happy's here in Roanoke, VA. I miss that place, one guy in there specialized in nothing but 70's and 80's video games. You could find some really obscure stuff in there, shame that place closed up, dunno what happened to most of the long term tenants running businesses out of there.
You're right; we definitely don't have car trunk sales in the USA. I mean, we do, but they're called flea markets and they usually take place indoors. A car boot sale seems like it's very informal and outside.
not trying 2 b funny but your loading screen intro is just wrong the black n white loads first then the colour and its every eight lines zx roolz pc droolz!
ah james last albums, common in every salvation army chairty shop, and at every carboot sale, good old mirco machines, brought a set a while ago super auto world was missing bits but at the time i grabbed it as it was in the box chairty shop it came from oxfam, i think 30+ pounds ouchie might of been more if complete! ooh, old monoploy set, those are easy sells if complete, normally the dice are missing or one of the metal pieces is gone but there fast sellers no matter what age, wireless keyboards aren't that good unless they have the usb thingy and the mouse, that's actily pritty good, only slight tape damage but if complete then darm bargin, why didn't you bring the whole lot then? if you hav more then bring the lot! not a few in hopes they sell but then if someone buys them and you bring more they might not, stupid person, wow that's a lot of old 80's maybe 70's scale eletrics sadly like most things either knows what there worth or has been looking on this ere internety thing and seen why ppl buy them and keep comming back now at his prices they stop selling, WHAT CASSETTES?!?! ARGH I WANTED TO SEE THEM! oh man billy bass, wish i'd grabbed those ones from the skip years ago, hmm later 90's or late 80's as the orgnial ones had some guy and chinse/japnise girl on the box they even had word master mind for the ppl that were just brainy, odd looking pool balls look to be marble in which case there ones for display if that's a thing? oh classical stuff not for me, best to dounate to a chiarty shop (that still takes casettes lol)
Is your daughter fond of legacy computer stuff too? I like it and I think my daughter finds it amusing lol but I think most legacy computer enthusiasts are men.
BAAANJOOOO !!!
it's a banjo/mandoline hybrid . been hoping to find one actually :D
Keep them eyes peeled for Cherry keyboards... they can be worth decent money, and tend to be pretty damn good too.Been ages since I went to a boot sale, even since I started getting some retro computers - should really find a good one close enough - it is the season after all :D
Hahaha love the "bargain hunt" reference!
Glad someone noticed XD
That is some excellent daytime on BBC1 knowledge right there
Cheap as chips.
There is a car boot equivalent at most American Flea Markets, or at least some smaller vendors. I do miss traipsing around in a muddy field for a few hours, though.
Also Garage sales i guess would count, but much smaller on scale.
what about swap meats
@@ciaranfarley Well "meets" but yeah that is what we call them here.
We also have these in the states , they're called "flea markets" or "swap meets".
"there's lots of grass at these places"
Lucky you! In the north, we usually get mud and cow shit ;)
Nice find on the Amiga games.
The US does have flea markets, which seem to be similar to Car Boots, though I never see flea markets around here anymore. Also my area has several town wide yard sales at the beginning and end of the yard sale seasons, which would be even more similar to car boot sales.

aww. america has got good sales like that, they're called swap meets or hamfests, i got my first zx81 at one.
I know you are Norwich lad, bit further down the a11 near Barton Mills there is a big boot sale there that I frequent. As there are several US airbases nearby, often see US sellers and some funky US stuff including games that are worth a go.

In america we have flea markets.... They are the same as car boots. people come pay $ to set up behind they're cars and sell random crap and tat.

What camera were you using? it looks like the ratio is 4:3? Unusual to see today...
Those tape storage boxes are also great for storing Famicom carts, the size is pretty much exactly the same
I had an arcadia. really good toy although you needed A room darker than a black hole to see it sometimes lol
hahaha....its like half 1 in the morning but that bit with the arse i loled so much haha
the other late car boot is at Stalham, I saw a AK47 carbine there for £200 in 2004 wish I'd bought it now
Great stuff! Are you still doing this series? Cause I enjoyed it and I think the humor started coming along more naturally in this latest episode.
I really wish we had these kinds of sales where I live in Canada. I'm sure they do have something similar in the big cities but not Thunderbay .

north America doesn't have car boot sales but does have a very similar thing called a swap meet
Warlords: Battlecry
Boy, that one brings back memories. Good game.

that girls face on the alien nations cover looks like the cgi guy in def leppards lets get rocked music video
We call car boot sales Flea markets. Pat nespunk does a flea market series.
The video was worth it for Colonization alone.
I had that transformers book. It came with a cassette.
they looked more like charts than maps.
great stuff
around 5:30 ish minutes in sports direct bag ! lol
We have "Flea Markets" it's essentially the same shit. Usually comparable prices.
Oh I'd get all those scalectrix if I could afford them.
Not only did you find cool stuff at the boot sale, you found your own mother! :O
we have these in america, we don't call them booty sales or what have you but we have them. In my area they're called swap meets.

How many copies of mouse trap do you own?
CrAzYgIrL one from each notable era.
I thought in america a car boot sale is called a "swap meat"

I notice each time you do this you spend more and more. :)
God, I haven't been to a car boot sale in years. A British institution! I'm guessing they're a goldmine for retro gamers though!
+Izzie many more sellers know the value of stuff now than compared to the early to mid 2000s where I would walk away with consoles and games for next to nothing among other great finds. However if you are patient and arrive early, there are still some gems to be unearthed.
I hope you're buying your wee lass plenty of crap there too ;) Poor girl would be dead jealous otherwise haha
+Yosef Selim She got some loom bands, happy as larry
Nice! Man, I wish I lived in my home city... We had a huge market every Sunday... Nothing as awesome as Amiga games there, but still... Lots of old toys ;)
Bloody loom bands - a vacuum cleaner's (hoover) worst nightmare.

How dare different dialects of English be spoken.

Too many "I"s in your pronunciation of Invictious.
Gaaaah I hate the way you pronounce Invictus, like "IN VI CU TUS" it's actually "IN VIC TUS". Sorry I had to get that out.
