One thing I love about this channel is that you're able to tread the line between making something look both impressive AND doable. It's one thing to watch a tutorial and think, "Pfft, I could to that," and then fail miserably. With these videos, it's more like, "Wow, it looks interesting, and I might just have a shot." You really have a gift for this! Thank you so much. :)
I mean you remember the black plague right? that didn't turn out so well .... but at least we all learned the only thing wrong with rats Was Not that they just needed more food and opportunity. did I mention that the end world hunger campaign transformed about two feet of American topsoil into a sub-saharan methane plume ? I mean who would have guessed african heroin would have gotten into the paleo-anthropological sciences ??? wow, how did anyone miss that? anyway, there was a species invasive breach about 2 million years ago, so now we know why sub-saharans breed faster than the food grows.....but guess what, they can't Un-learn that, and we do not want it to spread.
I love everything about your channel, but, as a Greek woman, this video makes me feel proud of the styling of my ancenstors! And they all look awesome on you! Cheers and keep up the great work! 💖
When i was a child i had this thing that i did "weird" hairstyles, word used by my mom to describe it. The one that i used the most was the exact first hairstyle in this video, i vividly remember picking more and more lace to decorate the crown of my hair, when i saw the image of this video i was actually surprised not by the coincidence but also about your excelent work on this video and others that i saw, you just got one more sub 😁
I love your historical hair tutorials! Do you have any recommendations for Celtic hair? I know the term “Celtic” is a bit debated by historians as it applies to a lot of different people over different times and place with out a strong connecting force other than they liked swirly art and fighting, but I’d still love to see what youd do with hair of asked to create a “Celtic” look and compare it to a historical Iron Age look of a “celtic” region.
"they liked swirly art and fighting" omg I love it. More to your point though, I'm working on it - I don't yet have enough archeological evidence with detailed hair depictions in order to make a full video, but just know that it's on my radar!
I second silvousplait. "They liked swirly art and fighting" omg haha you made my day. XD .Also I'm British but love historic fashion and hairstyles but I actually look a LOT like you miss silvousplaits so it's very interesting to see another red head with such an interest in historic hairstyles and I have low self esteem so think in time these videos may help me feel better about myself and give me something to relate to. (I hope) ha I've always loved doing fancy things with my hair I've experimented on and off for years :D
I really like that you don't speed things up. It helps me watch what you're doing more closely and really grasp what's going on with the motions of the hair and hands. Makes it seem easier to accomplish without haven't to watch the video 10000000000000x.
This video is amazing - such a well-done mini-history and absolutely phenomenal multi-dimensional historical recreation! I'm so impressed and will definitely be showing this in my ancient cultural history classes! Thank you!! Classicist approved!
This video along with all your others is making me love have my hair long! I tried my hand at the Arden woman crown braid and I loved it! Definitely gonna try these soon!
You are the only channel I've found that provides accurate historical information and beautiful hair-ups with clear tutorials. You're the best! Thank you!
Great video! I was just learning about the history of Greece. It’s cool to see someone recreate all these unique hairstyles. I bet you could publish another book that’s just filled with all these historical hairstyles! That’d be so cool!
Do you have a historical hair book? I love doing peoples hair at sca and other historical re-enactments having a book that people could reference to choose their hair styles would be very useful.
As partial Lumbee and Cherokee I’ve never really had the chance to see American Indian cultures or really hairstyles they wore.I would love to see a video on this in the future as it is a topic I have difficulty finding information on.
I LOVE this! Especially the sources! Thank you for sharing, your channel makes me think that I might be able to do something fancier than just tied back.
Just saying thanks for the great video! As a bald black man I doubt I’m the target audience haha, but I was doing research for Ancient Greek hair for an art project I’m working on & this was very helpful with the historical context you added.
You just helped me end my internal debate about chopping my hair off or actually growing it out; I can't wait to try these hairstyles out in a few months!
Is there a chance you might do a video on fancy hairstyles for really thin, straight, blonde hair that, when combed back, makes the wearer look bald? Cause I really struggle to come up with anything.
I just came across your channel and I love how original it is I much prefer those hairstyles over nowadays hairstyles hope I'm not the only one lol anyway I love your channel
Very nice video with interest content and very detailed information! We try also as a music team to do a detailed research on the ancient Greek music! We're glad that we found another one who works with passion on the ancient Greek culture!
I’d love to see a few looks on shorter hair if you got someone in to model. Especially various warrior braids when shorter hair might pose challenges with hair round the temples not being so long.
I loved watching this! I have pretty long hair so I'm always looking for different ideas... plus learning anything about hair is just "fun" to me! 👍😀💕 thank you for putting so much energy and effort into these 💟
I just discovered your channel and although I am not particularly interested in Hairstyle videos (maybe because I never really gave a damn about my image), I really like your historical videos and that you seem to cite sources for them. I subbed you now in the hopes of you making more videos of this kind :D
Beautiful. My hair is thick & wavy & even when only shoulder length won't stay up in a bun. I might have to try that lacing technique. Your hair is gorgeous btw 👍
Using this for a monologue from Midsummer Night’s Dream because I kinda forgot that it’s not in England and in Greece. Haha this is gonna be a challenge with my short undercut hair.
Thank you for this! My great-grandfather immigrated from Greece, and when they did they completely Amercanized themselves. I have started learning Greek, and trying to learn more about the cultural that was lost in my family, I want to learn it an pass it along before the care is lost from my family.
I enjoyed seeing these hairstyles form ancient Greece. The one at 8:25 was especially gorgeous. Is there any information on what they used to curl their hair? I was just curious how they did it.
these historical recreations are great, but I gotta be honest and tell you I subbed exclusively for the pun. You're doing the work of Providence, friend u_u u_u u_u
Just found your channel and I LOVE it!! I have had long hair my whole life ( till my butt) and I love doing intricate things with it. I sm not of the ponytails and messy buns. So love your hairstyles. When I started my sewing channek I also wanted to incorporate hairstyles but my hair is so dark that it is very difficult to make intricate hairstyles visible on camera. But certainly love to do it with my hair !! Thanks for the inspiration!
If you curl those bangs and place the head wrap/diadem on top of them, that’s exactly the Mycenaean religious processional look! I couldn’t replicate that because I don’t have bangs but you can.
Oh wow, really?! That... okay I might start doing my hair that way, then, for festival days. I'm Hellenic and I worship the Greek Gods so this is so exciting for me! I always struggle on how to bind my hair for the ceremonies cause I'm terrible with hair.
This is awesome! I stumbled upon your channel recently and found your video on doing Katara's hair styles. Your channel is so cool! Can you do any hair styles from the show The Adventures Of Merlin or The Dragon Prince? That'd be amazing! Thank you!❤😄💇♀️
Did you know that in ancient Greece living your hair down it was a sign of freedom and they were allowed to let them down only in front of their husbands (if the husband allow that)
be careful about saying "in ancient Greece" because each city-state was quite different in terms of social norms, and that term covers several distinct periods of time. Also, that wasn't a rule anywhere but rather a poetic motif, and it was hardly unique to Greece. Kind of the same idea as the leg pop, or the blowing-curtain shot in old movies. Hair, for both men and women, was associated with sexuality: so the motif of the letting hair down was meant to suggest the act of sex (or interest in it). It was not only applied to women either, since a lot of times men wore their hair long. We still say "let your hair down" to mean "stop being prudish". Of course, given that most women's hairstyles were sewn in the era before before bobby pins: it's likely women didn't take them down very often. Additionally, as soon as your hair reaches below your shoulder blades, a braid becomes more convenient than wearing it loose because that prevents it getting caught in your clothes and jewelry (and on other stuff, like random household objects). Doubly so, since women spent a lot more time around open fires than most people today do. So women probably never wore their hair loose except in their bedrooms, not a place where anyone except the woman's husband or children had any reason to be.
This is really cool! I love researching the Minoans, I also love seeing her do styles on curly hair. I feel like a lot of styles don't look good on my hair because of its texture
Would you consider doing the hairstyles from the Drew Barrymore film, Ever After? There are some beautiful ones in there, and I’ve never been able to figure out how Danielle’s hair in the last scene was done..!

Can you do authentic Slavic hairstyles? Not a lot of people mention those
Seconded!
Yes, please!
Yes please
yesss
Oh, yes please!
I had short hair and actually started growing it out because of this channel lol.
Same!
Nice! Welcome to the long hair club!
Same.
thanks! I never used to like doing my hair but you inspired me =)
This channel is the only thing that stopped me from cutting my long hair :)
I like that these styles pertain well to big curly/wavy hair, most tutorials are very difficult if you don't have straight hair.
Yes!!
You can definitely see where Padme’s hairstyles in the second movie came from. So much Greek influence.
Ha I originally bought these hairnets to do her "picnic in the fields" hairstyle
I knew I recognized that hair net!
I love everything about your channel, but, as a Greek woman, this video makes me feel proud of the styling of my ancenstors! And they all look awesome on you! Cheers and keep up the great work! 💖

Maybe your past life was as a Greek?
I LOVE that you research the topic in this way and include so much historical background in your videos.
I love your videos! I'm falling in love with growing my hair long and braiding it more.
I love your historical hair tutorials! Do you have any recommendations for Celtic hair? Love these little history lessons ! They add a whole new context to the hairstyles
Thank you so much for doing these videos. I love your work. I got waaay too excited when I saw you put up a new video.
I love your historical vids! Egypt hairstyles would be awesome or Aya from Assassins Creed Origins.
I got soooo excited when I saw this tutorial! Ancient Greece is one of my favorite time periods ever!
Can you make a video about native american hair styles? That'd be very interesting. 😊
She already have one, I believe(:
There is one about native South American hairstyles ruclips.net/video/gvz8QM-wrdU/видео.html
I was thinking about the same thing! I'm Greek by the way, arkadian! We still have the same hairstyles! At least a large percentage of Greek women!
This video is amazing - such a well-done mini-history and absolutely phenomenal multi-dimensional historical recreation! I'm so impressed and will definitely be showing this in my ancient cultural history classes! Thank you!! Classicist approved!

I'll subscribe.

You are one of my favorite RUclipsrs!! I adore your videos. And, Girl, that silk wrap! ❤️❤️

Love the last one on this video! Thank you for all your research and diy historical styles. Very interesting and unlike anything I've seen on RUclips.
Yesssss a new video! So happy! I'm gonna try these out next week-end

These look almost exactly like the hairstyles that the Boticellis women have in his paintings, I’ve always wanted to recreate them thanks
I’d love to see a few looks on shorter hair if you got someone in to model. Especially various warrior braids when shorter hair might pose challenges with hair round the temples not being so long.
I have a playlist on my channel home page of styles for shorter hair!

They may have already had curly hair, or worn hair curled using something similar to the cylinder velcro like ones (I don't know how to describe them)
@@lisahenry20 Thanks, it's all very interesting.
i believe they mostly had natural curly hair, just like today, but they also wrapped damp hair around sticks to get corkscrew curls.

i love her skin ❤️😍
The Mycean hair style is ADORABLE! It just suck that I have blunt bangs; I can't really do the diadem-like bit.
If you curl those bangs and place the head wrap/diadem on top of them, that’s exactly the Mycenaean religious processional look! I couldn’t replicate that because I don’t have bangs but you can.

I wanted this! Thank you! 🙏🏽
This is awesome!

Definitely!

As a multiracial woman who has very long naturally curly hair these are great! I especially like the first one.
i am from Greece! and this video rocks!!! she seems to love Hellenes, more than we love ourselves.
This is really cool. I have to ask, though: how do you get the thread out of your hair?
very good Information - and looks beautiful!
Thank you so much you have helped me so much. Before I watched your channel the only braid that I could do was an English braid. Thank you so much!
Love these
I've gone down the RUclips rabbit hole of recreating ancient fashion and here I am. Neat video
You look so beautiful and elegant in these hairstyles 😍😍
you should do a video on Celtic or Germanic peoples hairstyles!

I just love your videos, thank you so much
You are just sweet :) The ancient ones applaud and say thank you for the honour ;) Love
