Your console needs to be cleaned inside sounds like a dust build up. Look for a video explaining how to clean your ps5 console. My console was doing the exact same thing

Can someone help, I dropped my controller and after I picked it up the r2 button didn’t work but after that I restarted my ps5 and then I could open games in the menu but when I tried to start them the x button didn’t work even though it worked outside the game, I had this happen before but with a ps4 and it was unfixable and is what made me need to get a new ps so now I’m scared that this is happening again, can someone please help me but then I tried another controller and everything worked absolutely fine so I don’t know what’s wrong
Had this too my Ps5 controller didnt worked inside a game but outside a game it worked perfectly.
Just smack the controler a few times on smt hard and it will work again... sounds really weird but worked for me.
Or get it repaired.

You didn't follow directions and did it wrong. You reset your console instead of doing as the video suggested to (Restore Default Settings). It worked perfectly fine for myself and I lost nothing.

That's a hard reset, not a soft reset. Very misleading.
A hard reset is wiping the entire console to factory settings, which this doesn't.
