It seems to me you’re already decided. But, consider how different life could be if you chose for a long stay. You give me the impression that the uncertainties related to your visas are the biggest issue for you. Would all that be completely resolved once you would have settled permanently? I’m a Brazilian born, naturalized Dutch. I’ve had similar preoccupations for five years, until I could apply for the local citizenship. After that was over, life became a lot lighter, in fact, it became “normal”. I’m a happy Dutchman now for over 32 years. I’ll be following your saga, but I guess you’re going back.
Say "Hello" to Poland and Barbara Streisand, when you get home. On that note, they now speak polish too, in the planes from Berlin to Mallorca and Barbara really liked our Curry wurst, when she was here.
It is always the right decision if it comes from the heart. Seems like Germany has not made such an impression that you really are enticed to try by heart to stay here. Sometimes it needs some dedication and effort to become part of the society. If your internal compass is not set on it it won't come by itself. There are many reasons and you are not to blame for any of them. I hope you will make your way in the US and it will turn out as you envisioned it.
For what it's worth, I have two friends who returned after their children had grown up. (They had gone back to have family close by while raising their families) Do keep that in mind, and take the good memories back with you!
Hi ihr zwei, um eure Rückkehrpläne besser zu verstehen, fehlen mir noch einige Hintergrundinformationen: Lucas, was hast du überhaupt in den Jahren hier in Deutschland beruflich gemacht? Hast du einen Studienabschluss oder eine abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung? Wenn ja, worin? Als was möchtest du in den USA arbeiten? Hast du bereits einen Job oder fliegt ihr gewissermaßen " ins Blaue" zurück? Also erst mal wieder in der Heimat sein und erst dann nach einem Job suchen? Ellie, du hast jetzt einen deutschen Master für das Lehramt? Wird der in den USA anerkannt? In Deutschland müsstest du jetzt eigentlich deine Referendarzeit an einer Schule beginnen. Gibt es etwas Vergleichbares in den USA? Oder wie geht es weiter bei dir? Ich gehe mal nicht davon aus, dass du mit dem Masterabschluss schon einfach so an einer Schule unterrichten darfst. Das fände ich verantwortungslos. Aber ich kenne ja euer Bildungssystem nicht... Wann werdet ihr denn zurückfliegen?
Keine Ahnung wie das Leben in den USA ist ! Am Ende ist es ja eure Entscheidung ,und eine Rückkehr nach Deutschland 8st ja auch immer wieder möglich ! Wie auch immer ihr seid noch Jung ! Ich Wünsche wie immer die Entscheidung ausfällt euch alles gute ☘️☘️☘️
Es nützt Alles Nichts - wenn es nicht Deine Heimat ist - oder werden kann - dann geh(t) zurück. Nimm das Gute aus Deutschland mit. Viel Glück auf dem weiteren Lebensweg. Aber am Ende - arbeitest Du um zu Leben - oder lebst Du um zu Arbeiten? Geld ist doch nicht ALLES... warum ist das Geld immer an erster Stelle?
