I love how matpat is is the first one to know the lore of the mini games as soon as he sees them. He even predicted the Elenor mini game as soon as he saw it. That’s why he the goat, he doesn’t hesitate to spend hours of his life reading books about possessed bears.
I wasn’t surprised abt the Elenor one, that one was pretty obvious. What was surprising was the To Be Beautiful one. It’s less noticeable until the Funtime Freddy arm appears. Fetch was also not as noticeable.
I've never read the books and i still knew it was Eleanor. That's not exactly obscure knowledge. Knowing they are based off the stories makes it pretty simple.
I think Oswald does end up as foxy in the last bit-- They had a reference to the Wizard of OZ in relation to Oswald's nickname being OZ- and the wizard is the man behind the curtain : Foxy is the animatronic behind the curtain of pirate's cove

did yall notice that if you try to leave after already completing the "leave dad behind" ending, Oswald says "Nope. You saw what happened last time." and then if you try again "seriously?". also, another interesting detail is that you can put down a Paper Pal on the wall next to the other ones. The ones that are there before you place anything are blue, yellow/brown, and purple, and you put down a red one. idk if that matters to the whole "foxy seems really relevant here" thing but yeah. also the environmental storytelling of "you change something in the past, it changes in the future" like with the Paper Pals and the door being broken is nice

It's close to the top so). The one weird thing abt both his and your theories are why represent Chica as blue or purple (depending on which Bonnie is) instead of yellow/orange?
Those colors seem to correspond to their eye colors. And notice how the blue and red ones have something that resembles bowties on their torso portion and the purple one has "girly" eyes.
Is anyone else getting some Midnight Motorist vibes from this? The whole kid getting locked in the bedroom over and over again, going back to "that place" again (which may not be Jr's but also isn't technically Freddy's either). Something nobody ever seems to bring up is that FNAF keeps telling the same story time and time again with different characters each time. I feel like we're going to get hit with "everything you've seen has been different takes of the true events, but not the whole truth" It would be lazy writing otherwise. Too many characters have too many parallels but never end up being related to one another at all. Like Vanessa and Elizabeth.

So this is a game that involves a kid sneaking out of his house every night to go to a pizza place and his dad, with a connection to Spring trap, blocks off those exits (boarding up window and taking ladder) because he doesn’t want him going to “that place”. HMMMMMMMM
I keep seeing people say this but it's not true. In midnight motorist, the bedroom door was locked from the inside. That is a detail included for a reason. Plus the footprints, it implies someone broke in through the window, locked the door and kidnapped the kid The kid is not locking the door and sneaking out before nighttime hits (his mom's still up watching tv, how late can it be?). And if he was, why break the window instead of just opening the window normally. Midnight motorist is all but confirmed to be a kidnapping if you use logic. Not a kid sneaking away. Thats just what the dad thinks

@@Parallelocam The footprints do not imply that... there's one set of robot footprints which never even approach the window, and then there's a set that leads from the windows to the bushes. There's also only one set going from the windows to the bushes, not one going in and another going out. Definitely a kid sneaking out because he saw an animatronic - why he wanted to follow it is definitely up in the air though. And to answer the broken window question, presumably the dad knew he wanted to escape, so the window was locked, hence the need to break it.
In the 3-star ending there is slightly different dialogue where Dad apologizes for making Oz feel like he had to hide in the ball pit for attention and instead of deciding to move, Dad says there will be some changes around here and they just decide to go home and watch their favorite movie before the hug.

i like the idea of Oswald eventually turning into Foxy. In the game, theres a freddy mask, which supposedly belongs to Oswalds dad. did anyone else notice that the Foxy mask is in the prize machine? i take that as in there is children/spirits inside the main 3, but foxy hasnt had a soul reserved for him. PS. i’m not a book reader so this is just my immediate thought off the game :)

Also i'm pretty sure in this ball pit world/past/whatever you wanna call it or think that it is, the souls of the actual animatronics arent possessed at this point. I mean we literally see the mci unfold, and it would have to be the mci not the dci because of the timeline. I also personally don't even think the animatronics are real in this game universe/ballpit area whatever. So Oswald turning into "foxy" is very possible. Also keep in mind itlf this were the same universe the yellow rabbit would just be william, which havibg multiple layers of sharp teeth and robot eyes it most definitely is not, and is more likely just an agony creature.

It's crazy and at the same time sad see how people have deluded themselves to think the books aren't canon when there's no proof they arent.

This is such a weird way to go. Like; Dad's gonna know something's up when he gets home and his wife goes "Oh you're finally feeling talkative again huh?" and then he finds out it's been a week??? BonBomb So did they just forget about the whole secret room thing then?
Watching that intro, it's funny how often a secret can be missed just simply because you tried to be creative before the devs intended you to, game flags are weird like that.
I do think it's a failure on the devs part though. If they thought of making "call mom in the past" an easter egg, why not change the dialogue when you do it on other nights? This problem could've been solved by slightly changing the dialogue you get from calling every night, making the player think to try it again. Since the game doesn't change the dialogue the first time the player tries doing it, the player is just gonna assume that the devs didn't think about the paradox they've created.
I do think MatPat is overlooking the dialogue in the Robot ending. "Why does my voice sound different?" (emphasized with the first name change or "Oswald?"),l "Who do they think I am?" (I mean....come on!) The "What am I?!?" and the "Why are the being...friendly?" could be interpreted as him as a robot kid but with the other two, it doesn't seem to be right. If he is a robot kid, why would his voice be different? Shouldn't he be a perfect copy, like we've seen with other robot kids (like the story with To Be Beautiful). And why would the animatronics be more friendly? Because he's one of them? They are either friendly to kids or not, they haven't really picked and chose before. Plus, HE STARTS ON THE STAGE! CENTER STAGE! Also, the only time we've actually SEEN the dead kids (like not in a vague form or whatever, like actually see them like Oswald) is in the movie (not including the times and the Silver Eyes trilogy when they meet the souls). We never see the kids side by side with the animatronics. We have a BRIEF glimpse of Golden Freddy in the house (with the spirit of the kid next to him) but its brief and quick (and Golden Freddy always has his own rules). I think, like others, that the kids don't see themselves as the animatronics (not when they are more lucid at least) which is why we would see Oswald as Oswald and not Foxy. He is slowly losing himself and turning into the more animalistic animatronic ("the others are like animals..."). When his eyes lit up, he fully lost himself and became Foxy.
I am slightly upset that he missed the dialogue for the hug ending. I realized it was different when I saw how much dialogue the Dad had so I had to go to .25 speed and pause/unpause/pause to read it. It was really sweet and emotional and made the hug and ending so much better. Sad MatPat missed it (as a Dad I think he would've really loved it)

54:18 the laugh sounds so much like a Foxy laugh in 8bit. And that would make sens in an SNES style game. So I personally would say, at least in this game and that specific ending, Oswald IS foxy. So we either have to revisit the Gravestones, say this game isn't canon, or start to accept that Fnaf became a Multiverse starting with the books. And this game took a lot of items from games, books and film... so welcome to the FNaF Multiverse, buckle up this will get even more messy.
This location is new. It's not fnaf 1 or 2. And the original MCI victims weren't killed all at once. This is a new location,meaning Foxy may very well be open to being possessed

It starts blending with the actual missing children's agony and you get to go to experience what they've experienced through Oz. That's why you can't consider much of what happened in the "past" as to be the actual canon, like the children all being killed at once, because it isn't the actual past. The location is not new, it's supposed to be the FNAF1 location, however the layout of the building is different, and that inconsistency can be blamed on how it's a book canon game, not a game canon game.

In the end, I believe Oswald's eyes lit up like Springbonnie had his eyes light up when he made himself look like Oswald's dad from the beginning. Rather than seeing him as Foxy, we see him as himself, yet he's not himself. It's kind of like Oswald seeing Springbonnie while no one else did
I personally also think that Oz is supposed to be Foxy in the failed quick time event ending because- first of all Foxy is missing throughout the whole game- but something i didn't see anyone mention is the fact that Spring Trap as an animatronic can turn into Oz's dad. He is the only one that can turn into a human throughout the game so i think its specifically linked to the animatronic suit, Maybe the reason why Oz didnt turn into Foxy at the end is bcz he doesnt realise yet he's an animatronic.
Having worked on a (currently shelved) pixelart game myself, I can attest to just how much work goes into creating animations and environments. Anything that is interactable can add so much to the workload as you expand the spritesheets and add detail to things. I can only imagine just how much work and how many artists had to grind at this game to get it out looking as excellent as it does. Really big kudos to the studio for this game. And good job to Mat&Ash for the playthrough!

i feel like Oz is foxie. Matpat brought up his eyes lighting up like the dads- however, think back. What Oz saw wasn't dad with his eyes lit up- he saw springtrap like 90% of the time instead of his father. Because springtrap was the one inside of his father's body in the future. Meanwhile, trapped in the past, trapped inside of foxy, ozwald thinks he is still himself and his eyes light up. He is still shown as Oz because that is who he is- its the identity of the child trapped inside of the animatronic. Foxy was gone the entire game- it is a pretty cinematic thing if ozwald's eyes lighting up right in front of pirates cove was implying that he became foxy, the missing animatronic. foxy is the only one not shown in the notebook, the stickers, nothing. Perhaps Foxy's entry only appears after ozwald's unfortunate death, since after being possessed is when the animatronics gain strange habits and personalities? It makes sense to have the animatronic hiding on standby if the whole time Springtrap was trying to find a child to put inside of him? The final animatronic to have a dead child.
THE MURAL NEXT TO THE BALL PIT! the entirety of the game it’s there and you can click on it whenever you want, i knew it must’ve meant something. Foxy didn’t exist until after that bad ending because the entire time Afton is chasing you around, he was probably trying to find a child to stuff into his new creation. i also think he stole oswald’s dad as some sort of revenge but didn’t think his soul, bc of him being an adult, would suit his plans very well and then changed his target but kept his dad hostage so that he could lure oswald into his trap…into the pit. keep him coming back because he can travel through time and see what others can’t so why not use that to his advantage? bc oswald also didnt say anything about what he was able to do and see so that was good leverage, and a good opportunity to take the place of his dad. this seems all over the place and im typing in circles at this point but i get it!
YES! Also to add to this even though you probably said this in there somewhere lol, it's very important to note that when we get grabbed in that ending, we're still in the past. Maybe Dad survived, but we got snatched while we were still in the PAST. We didnt make it through to the future. And I'm pretty sure it has been canonically proven that Foxy was the last animatronic to get possessed. So the fact that the only traces we see of Foxy don't seem to be in any real promotional material of the pizzaria in that specific time, Oswald stops directly in front of pirate's cove for his eyes to start glowing, as well as the classroom scene where he's sitting in the place that Foxy would ideally show up in the hallucination, AND the mask in the prize machine... I think Mat even said how weird it was that there are six missing children in the incident and only five ever really appear in this game, except for Oswald himself. Even with how convoluted time paradoxes can get, I don't think it's a far leap to assume that Oswald did indeed die in the past and go on to possess Foxy to then trigger the rest of the events of FNAF in this ending. Or at the very least it's meant to be a simple reflection of other events and its not even actually canon at all :)
1:00:34 I'm one of the 4 developers (actually the main developer) on an upcoming horror game. It has this style of pixelated graphics and I'm very happy that MatPat said to give these games a chance.
I interpreted the ending at the end of the video not him being turned into a robot but him being turned into foxy. He starts off at the stage, where we have only seen animatronics placed and he walks to pirate cove with all the animatronics waving to him because he is one of them. He sees himself as a kid, meaning the other animatronics probably see themselves as the children versions of themselves too (if they have a kid in them).
Isn't Fritz or one of those kids the one in foxy? Yet another reason I don't trust this game as canon. We've never heard the name Oswald mentioned once when discussing missing children

I'm fairly certain that despite Oswald's eyes glowing the same color as his dad's Oswald becomes Foxy at 54:07. You literally see him walk past Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica only for him to stop right in front of Pirate's Cove. I don't think the curtains need to be open for one to make the connection that Oswald potentially ends up becoming Foxy. Plus, you never get to see Foxy at all throughout the entire game. So if there were to be any implication that Oswald becomes Foxy, it'd be in this one cutscene. Additionally, one could say that Oswald's clothes are the same colors as Captain Foxy from Help Wanted 1 and 2 where Foxy wears the blue pirate outfit just like how Oswald wears a blue sweater, the yellow stripes on Oswald's shirt could refer to Foxy's yellow eyes and golden teeth, and the red stripes on Oswald's shirt could represent Foxy himself being a red fox. That may sound like a bit of a stretch, but I thought it was an interesting connection.
Even as someone who only vicariously experiences FNAF through MattPat, this game really impressed me with its game design and reminds me a lot of how the original Clock Tower video game might have looked if it was made today. I might even buy a copy of Into the Pit and give it a play in anticipation of Clock Tower Rewind coming out later this year. ❤
Can we even consider it canon though, that's the question. Some things flat out conflict with what we know from other games. Like GGY being on the arcade machines. To me this is a one and done story not canon in the game universe. It doesn't fit all that well with the rest of what we know
There are a few questions I have left over: 1) Why did Oswald see animatronics, in place of his teachers and classmates, at school? 2) If the dad didn't remember anything from his capture, then does that mean he was knocked out that whole time? 3) A follow-up to #2, does that imply that time operates different in the past? So while 5 days passed in the present, it was that same night in the past? 4) Was the Springtrap, who patrolled the pizzeria in the past, the same entity as Dad-trap or was it another version? 5) If it isn't the same entity, then does that mean that Ozwald's dad is now going to have to fight Dad-trap when they get back home? 6) If it was the same entity, then why doesn't it just wait at the ballpit, in the past, and just grab Ozwald when he came out of it? 7) What was the deal with that robot dog (apart from it just being a reference to one of the other books)? 8) Where exactly did that robot dog go? It just kinda...vanished from the story altogether. 9) Where was Foxy? We saw the stage, but we never saw them. 10) In the teaser trailer we saw there was a poster that advertised Baby, but it's not in the actual game. What was the deal with that? 11) Why was Bonnie flossing in the teaser trailer and not in the game?!
1) PTSD. 2&3) I believe you're right that it's the same night, otherwise the kids should be able to escape without Oz as soon as it's day. 4) The final night seems to imply they are the same, as it chases you down into the past, and there is only one there. 6) It's not an intellectual or cunning creature. It doesn't use strategy or lay traps. 7 & 8) It is just references to the story. The more interesting question is why they chose to reference that story. Many seem to think that the next game will be about C U. 9) It's mentioned on the first night by some kids that apparently Foxy is away. They think it's because he's a pirate adventuring, but it seems more likely he's away for maintenance or something similar. In his absence though, Oz gets many parallels to Foxy which is very interesting. 10) Good question. I have no clue for this. 11) GREAT QUESTION. I ALSO HAVE NO CLUE FOR THIS 😂
For any curious: there are four (that I know of) ways to leave the house and you can use any of three of them the first night (just not the one that needs a screwdriver). On subsequent nights any method that you've already used becomes unusable in one way or another, but you only end up needing three of the four because on days 4 and 5 you leave before nightfall.

Honestly, I wish more games did pixel style presentation. Like, you can make some amazing things with the pixels that look sometimes even better than the realistic rendering of models. I love all forms of art styles, but more love needs to go to creativity you can draw from pixel art. This game did phenomenally with its art and animation, creating great atomosphere and genuinely being horrifying to see and I hope we get to see more of that in other games.

1:00:00 "Pixelated stuff or retro aesthetic don't get as many clicks as stuff with more modern 3D graphics" That's really unfortunate, not only because graphics don't make a game (gameplay and story are the core elements), but also because there are good-looking art styles outside of ultra realistic 3D graphics (Animal Well is a pretty recent example of that).
As someone who quite literally grew up in the FNAF generation, this game's references and the game itself brought me so much childlike innate joy! And the robot child ending had me up in my seat it was so awesome!!
I will hold that getting Claytoned is the family friendly version of that. and I will love seeing Oswald explain why it's 5 days later he still was in the pizzeria and Mom remember Dad being around.
Well, the trend actually started with Foxy Bro, before he was determined to be Young Mike Afton. It's just a pleasant coincidence the subsequent Bonnie Bro ended up being so important years later.
Maybe thats the point of the entire Story. Maybe Oswald is a stand in for Michael and the pit symbolizes the descent into the animatronic madness his father succumbed to (cause he literally turns into springtrap) and he now as well has to Deal with it. Maybe its the perspective of a child whos father turns out to be a serial killer and him not recognizing the Person he once knew
A few things I question: 1) The Hidden Door revealed in the past would then be there in the future. 2) The "Always watching" Binary is odd because who exactly is watching? 3) i get Adrenaline but are you telling me a kid in 6th grade has the power to punch an adult (or machine) and make it drop when we know its padded. 4) If Oswald is changing the past and saving the children from the "missing children" incident in the books, where's the 6th child? (Kid in the animatronic, Mike in Kitchen, Chip in Arcade, Kid in Monitor Room and Kid in Party Room. IS Dad supposed to be kid 6?) 5) If the 3 hidden games are just the 3 other stories (Fetch, To Be Beautiful, Let Me Count The Ways) then what's the point of the hidden part of the "Collect The Hats" game? Afton wasn't one to passively let his victims die. 6) Even if Phone Guys information was correct (That the other Animatronics only see movement) then why is he telling somebody that, in theory, should know this already? 7) What was with the random "Ghost Attacks: you'd get randomly on the last night?

A rebuttal to mats rebuttal of the foxy oz situation is that the father keeps swapping places with spring which suggests that the father robot isn't an actual robot but more of like a cloak for spring, also foxy died running Oswald died running to the pit
I have to say that I'm really surprised Matt never said anything about the kids' names beyond the obvious Mike association. Like Chip. Being short for (probably) Charles or Charlie, you know, like Charlotte. Or Gabrielle, being *very not subtly* what feels like a reference to Gabriel, the boy possessing Freddy. It's been bothering me the entire playthrough. It's also very funny to see Matt just vehemently deny everything this game has been transcribing about Foxy. He's been *notably* absent and Oswald's eyes lit up RIGHT in front of his curtain. The Foxy mask in the prize machine. The way that Oswald is usually present in front of the other three, but Foxy never is, and is always the odd one out just like Foxy. This entire game, the whole time, has been all but screaming Oswald = Foxy, yet Matt's consistent thought is "ROBOT KIDS!!!!!". Like this whole game doesn't feel like Oswald possibly going through his death all over again and his spirit's possession of Foxy, especially with Spring Bonnie as a consistent threat.
*Clear up some confusion about exiting the house:* There are *4* house exits, Front door, Bedroom Window, Basement Window, Attic Window. You only need to escape a 4th time if you don't get the firecracker early, and wait until night 4 where Freddy won't let you in, so you go to the library where you get the firecracker but then Gabrielle comes out of the library when your Dad comes and picks you up and drags you home. At that point Matpat would have had to use the rope to escape the Attic. He escaped from the front door 3rd (and last time) last episode, and at the start here he's just leaving in the morning (not night) and skipping school to go to the Ballpit, that's why it appeared like the front door was open again, but really if he had to escape a 4th night the front door would stop him from leaving.

I wasn’t surprised abt the Elenor one, that one was pretty obvious. What was surprising was the To Be Beautiful one. It’s less noticeable until the Funtime Freddy arm appears. Fetch was also not as noticeable.

I think Oswald does end up as foxy in the last bit-- They had a reference to the Wizard of OZ in relation to Oswald's nickname being OZ- and the wizard is the man behind the curtain : Foxy is the animatronic behind the curtain of pirate's cove

The ones that are there before you place anything are blue, yellow/brown, and purple, and you put down a red one. idk if that matters to the whole "foxy seems really relevant here" thing but yeah. also the environmental storytelling of "you change something in the past, it changes in the future" like with the Paper Pals and the door being broken is nice

So this is a game that involves a kid sneaking out of his house every night to go to a pizza place and his dad, with a connection to Spring trap, blocks off those exits (boarding up window and taking ladder) because he doesn’t want him going to “that place”.

I keep seeing people say this but it's not true. In midnight motorist, the bedroom door was locked from the inside. That is a detail included for a reason. Plus the footprints, it implies someone broke in through the window, locked the door and kidnapped the kid
The kid is not locking the door and sneaking out before nighttime hits (his mom's still up watching tv, how late can it be?). And if he was, why break the window instead of just opening the window normally.

@@Parallelocam The footprints do not imply that... there's one set of robot footprints which never even approach the window, and then there's a set that leads from the windows to the bushes. There's also only one set going from the windows to the bushes, not one going in and another going out. Definitely a kid sneaking out because he saw an animatronic - why he wanted to follow it is definitely up in the air though.
And to answer the broken window question, presumably the dad knew he wanted to escape, so the window was locked, hence the need to break it.

i like the idea of Oswald eventually turning into Foxy. In the game, theres a freddy mask, which supposedly belongs to Oswalds dad. did anyone else notice that the Foxy mask is in the prize machine? i take that as in there is children/spirits inside the main 3, but foxy hasnt had a soul reserved for him.

Watching that intro, it's funny how often a secret can be missed just simply because you tried to be creative before the devs intended you to, game flags are weird like that.
I do think it's a failure on the devs part though. If they thought of making "call mom in the past" an easter egg, why not change the dialogue when you do it on other nights? This problem could've been solved by slightly changing the dialogue you get from calling every night, making the player think to try it again. Since the game doesn't change the dialogue the first time the player tries doing it, the player is just gonna assume that the devs didn't think about the paradox they've created.
The implication is 100% that you were stuffed in Foxy.

I do think MatPat is overlooking the dialogue in the Robot ending. "Why does my voice sound different?" (emphasized with the first name change or "Oswald?"),l "Who do they think I am?" (I mean....come on!)
The "What am I?!?" and the "Why are the being...friendly?" could be interpreted as him as a robot kid but with the other two, it doesn't seem to be right. If he is a robot kid, why would his voice be different? Shouldn't he be a perfect copy, like we've seen with other robot kids (like the story with To Be Beautiful). And why would the animatronics be more friendly? Because he's one of them? They are either friendly to kids or not, they haven't really picked and chose before. Plus, HE STARTS ON THE STAGE! CENTER STAGE!
Also, the only time we've actually SEEN the dead kids (like not in a vague form or whatever, like actually see them like Oswald) is in the movie (not including the times and the Silver Eyes trilogy when they meet the souls). We never see the kids side by side with the animatronics. We have a BRIEF glimpse of Golden Freddy in the house (with the spirit of the kid next to him) but its brief and quick (and Golden Freddy always has his own rules). I think, like others, that the kids don't see themselves as the animatronics (not when they are more lucid at least) which is why we would see Oswald as Oswald and not Foxy. He is slowly losing himself and turning into the more animalistic animatronic ("the others are like animals..."). When his eyes lit up, he fully lost himself and became Foxy.

I am slightly upset that he missed the dialogue for the hug ending. I realized it was different when I saw how much dialogue the Dad had so I had to go to .25 speed and pause/unpause/pause to read it. It was really sweet and emotional and made the hug and ending so much better. Sad MatPat missed it (as a Dad I think he would've really loved it)

It starts blending with the actual missing children's agony and you get to go to experience what they've experienced through Oz. That's why you can't consider much of what happened in the "past" as to be the actual canon, like the children all being killed at once, because it isn't the actual past. The location is not new, it's supposed to be the FNAF1 location, however the layout of the building is different, and that inconsistency can be blamed on how it's a book canon game, not a game canon game.

In the end, I believe Oswald's eyes lit up like Springbonnie had his eyes light up when he made himself look like Oswald's dad from the beginning. Rather than seeing him as Foxy, we see him as himself, yet he's not himself. It's kind of like Oswald seeing Springbonnie while no one else did
I personally also think that Oz is supposed to be Foxy in the failed quick time event ending because- first of all Foxy is missing throughout the whole game- but something i didn't see anyone mention is the fact that Spring Trap as an animatronic can turn into Oz's dad. He is the only one that can turn into a human throughout the game so i think its specifically linked to the animatronic suit, Maybe the reason why Oz didnt turn into Foxy at the end is bcz he doesnt realise yet he's an animatronic.
Having worked on a (currently shelved) pixelart game myself, I can attest to just how much work goes into creating animations and environments. Anything that is interactable can add so much to the workload as you expand the spritesheets and add detail to things. I can only imagine just how much work and how many artists had to grind at this game to get it out looking as excellent as it does. Really big kudos to the studio for this game. And good job to Mat&Ash for the playthrough!
With Eleanor being in this game, it would make sense that spring trap is using the sound illusion disks to make him look like Oswald's dad

In the books Oswald jumps in the pit and then counts to 100 to go to the past
i feel like Oz is foxie. Matpat brought up his eyes lighting up like the dads- however, think back. What Oz saw wasn't dad with his eyes lit up- he saw springtrap like 90% of the time instead of his father. Because springtrap was the one inside of his father's body in the future. Meanwhile, trapped in the past, trapped inside of foxy, ozwald thinks he is still himself and his eyes light up. He is still shown as Oz because that is who he is- its the identity of the child trapped inside of the animatronic. Foxy was gone the entire game- it is a pretty cinematic thing if ozwald's eyes lighting up right in front of pirates cove was implying that he became foxy, the missing animatronic. foxy is the only one not shown in the notebook, the stickers, nothing. Perhaps Foxy's entry only appears after ozwald's unfortunate death, since after being possessed is when the animatronics gain strange habits and personalities? It makes sense to have the animatronic hiding on standby if the whole time Springtrap was trying to find a child to put inside of him? The final animatronic to have a dead child.
THE MURAL NEXT TO THE BALL PIT! the entirety of the game it’s there and you can click on it whenever you want, i knew it must’ve meant something. Foxy didn’t exist until after that bad ending because the entire time Afton is chasing you around, he was probably trying to find a child to stuff into his new creation. i also think he stole oswald’s dad as some sort of revenge but didn’t think his soul, bc of him being an adult, would suit his plans very well and then changed his target but kept his dad hostage so that he could lure oswald into his trap…into the pit. keep him coming back because he can travel through time and see what others can’t so why not use that to his advantage? bc oswald also didnt say anything about what he was able to do and see so that was good leverage, and a good opportunity to take the place of his dad. this seems all over the place and im typing in circles at this point but i get it!

YES! Also to add to this even though you probably said this in there somewhere lol, it's very important to note that when we get grabbed in that ending, we're still in the past. Maybe Dad survived, but we got snatched while we were still in the PAST. We didnt make it through to the future. And I'm pretty sure it has been canonically proven that Foxy was the last animatronic to get possessed. So the fact that the only traces we see of Foxy don't seem to be in any real promotional material of the pizzaria in that specific time, Oswald stops directly in front of pirate's cove for his eyes to start glowing, as well as the classroom scene where he's sitting in the place that Foxy would ideally show up in the hallucination, AND the mask in the prize machine... I think Mat even said how weird it was that there are six missing children in the incident and only five ever really appear in this game, except for Oswald himself. Even with how convoluted time paradoxes can get, I don't think it's a far leap to assume that Oswald did indeed die in the past and go on to possess Foxy to then trigger the rest of the events of FNAF in this ending. Or at the very least it's meant to be a simple reflection of other events and its not even actually canon at all :)

I interpreted the ending at the end of the video not him being turned into a robot but him being turned into foxy. He starts off at the stage, where we have only seen animatronics placed and he walks to pirate cove with all the animatronics waving to him because he is one of them. He sees himself as a kid, meaning the other animatronics probably see themselves as the children versions of themselves too (if they have a kid in them).

I'm fairly certain that despite Oswald's eyes glowing the same color as his dad's Oswald becomes Foxy at 54:07. You literally see him walk past Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica only for him to stop right in front of Pirate's Cove. I don't think the curtains need to be open for one to make the connection that Oswald potentially ends up becoming Foxy. Plus, you never get to see Foxy at all throughout the entire game. So if there were to be any implication that Oswald becomes Foxy, it'd be in this one cutscene. Additionally, one could say that Oswald's clothes are the same colors as Captain Foxy from Help Wanted 1 and 2 where Foxy wears the blue pirate outfit just like how Oswald wears a blue sweater, the yellow stripes on Oswald's shirt could refer to Foxy's yellow eyes and golden teeth, and the red stripes on Oswald's shirt could represent Foxy himself being a red fox. That may sound like a bit of a stretch, but I thought it was an interesting connection.

Even as someone who only vicariously experiences FNAF through MattPat, this game really impressed me with its game design and reminds me a lot of how the original Clock Tower video game might have looked if it was made today.
I might even buy a copy of Into the Pit and give it a play in anticipation of Clock Tower Rewind coming out later this year. ❤

Can we even consider it canon though, that's the question. Some things flat out conflict with what we know from other games. Like GGY being on the arcade machines.
To me this is a one and done story not canon in the game universe. It doesn't fit all that well with the rest of what we know

There are a few questions I have left over:
1) Why did Oswald see animatronics, in place of his teachers and classmates, at school?
2) If the dad didn't remember anything from his capture, then does that mean he was knocked out that whole time?
3) A follow-up to #2, does that imply that time operates different in the past? So while 5 days passed in the present, it was that same night in the past?
4) Was the Springtrap, who patrolled the pizzeria in the past, the same entity as Dad-trap or was it another version?
5) If it isn't the same entity, then does that mean that Ozwald's dad is now going to have to fight Dad-trap when they get back home?
6) If it was the same entity, then why doesn't it just wait at the ballpit, in the past, and just grab Ozwald when he came out of it?
7) What was the deal with that robot dog (apart from it just being a reference to one of the other books)?
8) Where exactly did that robot dog go? It just kinda...vanished from the story altogether.
9) Where was Foxy? We saw the stage, but we never saw them.
10) In the teaser trailer we saw there was a poster that advertised Baby, but it's not in the actual game. What was the deal with that?
11) Why was Bonnie flossing in the teaser trailer and not in the game?!
Oswald becomes Foxy (most likely). I'll leave this here just in case the rest are answered.
1) PTSD.
2&3) I believe you're right that it's the same night, otherwise the kids should be able to escape without Oz as soon as it's day.
4) The final night seems to imply they are the same, as it chases you down into the past, and there is only one there.
6) It's not an intellectual or cunning creature. It doesn't use strategy or lay traps.
7 & 8) It is just references to the story. The more interesting question is why they chose to reference that story. Many seem to think that the next game will be about C U.
9) It's mentioned on the first night by some kids that apparently Foxy is away. They think it's because he's a pirate adventuring, but it seems more likely he's away for maintenance or something similar. In his absence though, Oz gets many parallels to Foxy which is very interesting.
10) Good question. I have no clue for this.

For any curious: there are four (that I know of) ways to leave the house and you can use any of three of them the first night (just not the one that needs a screwdriver). On subsequent nights any method that you've already used becomes unusable in one way or another, but you only end up needing three of the four because on days 4 and 5 you leave before nightfall.
I like how the segment for one of the last bits is "Will the real dad please stand up" Slim shady reference.

Honestly, I wish more games did pixel style presentation. Like, you can make some amazing things with the pixels that look sometimes even better than the realistic rendering of models. I love all forms of art styles, but more love needs to go to creativity you can draw from pixel art. This game did phenomenally with its art and animation, creating great atomosphere and genuinely being horrifying to see and I hope we get to see more of that in other games.

On the note of Oswald maybe NOT being foxy based on Mat’s reasoning in the wrap up: Oswald’s dad’s eyes glow in front of his mom but when the mom isn’t around he appears as Springtrap
Also, Oswald’s dad with the glowing eyes is shown in-game to NOT be Oswald’s dad because he’s tied up in the pizzeria all week so if only robots have glowing eyes then…
The fact Oswald goes through a life changing ball pit that could change the world as he knows it, and decided not to tell his dad is crazy

1:00:00 "Pixelated stuff or retro aesthetic don't get as many clicks as stuff with more modern 3D graphics" That's really unfortunate, not only because graphics don't make a game (gameplay and story are the core elements), but also because there are good-looking art styles outside of ultra realistic 3D graphics (Animal Well is a pretty recent example of that).
As someone who quite literally grew up in the FNAF generation, this game's references and the game itself brought me so much childlike innate joy! And the robot child ending had me up in my seat it was so awesome!!

Well, the trend actually started with Foxy Bro, before he was determined to be Young Mike Afton. It's just a pleasant coincidence the subsequent Bonnie Bro ended up being so important years later.
Maybe thats the point of the entire Story. Maybe Oswald is a stand in for Michael and the pit symbolizes the descent into the animatronic madness his father succumbed to (cause he literally turns into springtrap) and he now as well has to Deal with it. Maybe its the perspective of a child whos father turns out to be a serial killer and him not recognizing the Person he once knew

A few things I question:
1) The Hidden Door revealed in the past would then be there in the future.
2) The "Always watching" Binary is odd because who exactly is watching?
3) i get Adrenaline but are you telling me a kid in 6th grade has the power to punch an adult (or machine) and make it drop when we know its padded.
4) If Oswald is changing the past and saving the children from the "missing children" incident in the books, where's the 6th child? (Kid in the animatronic, Mike in Kitchen, Chip in Arcade, Kid in Monitor Room and Kid in Party Room. IS Dad supposed to be kid 6?)
5) If the 3 hidden games are just the 3 other stories (Fetch, To Be Beautiful, Let Me Count The Ways) then what's the point of the hidden part of the "Collect The Hats" game? Afton wasn't one to passively let his victims die.
6) Even if Phone Guys information was correct (That the other Animatronics only see movement) then why is he telling somebody that, in theory, should know this already?
7) What was with the random "Ghost Attacks: you'd get randomly on the last night?
You forgot to show him the audio that plays if you type in SPRINGT (for Springtrap) as a phone number using the phone keypad letters.

A rebuttal to mats rebuttal of the foxy oz situation is that the father keeps swapping places with spring which suggests that the father robot isn't an actual robot but more of like a cloak for spring, also foxy died running Oswald died running to the pit
mat being given explicit clues that oswald is turned into foxy yet his fixation on robot kids is blinding him 😭
I have to say that I'm really surprised Matt never said anything about the kids' names beyond the obvious Mike association.
Like Chip. Being short for (probably) Charles or Charlie, you know, like Charlotte. Or Gabrielle, being *very not subtly* what feels like a reference to Gabriel, the boy possessing Freddy. It's been bothering me the entire playthrough.
It's also very funny to see Matt just vehemently deny everything this game has been transcribing about Foxy. He's been *notably* absent and Oswald's eyes lit up RIGHT in front of his curtain. The Foxy mask in the prize machine. The way that Oswald is usually present in front of the other three, but Foxy never is, and is always the odd one out just like Foxy. This entire game, the whole time, has been all but screaming Oswald = Foxy, yet Matt's consistent thought is "ROBOT KIDS!!!!!". Like this whole game doesn't feel like Oswald possibly going through his death all over again and his spirit's possession of Foxy, especially with Spring Bonnie as a consistent threat.
You can take the man out of fnaf, but you can’t take fnaf out of the man.
Oz and his dad having matching hairstyles is so cute; the art in this game is amazing

*Clear up some confusion about exiting the house:*
There are *4* house exits, Front door, Bedroom Window, Basement Window, Attic Window.
You only need to escape a 4th time if you don't get the firecracker early, and wait until night 4 where Freddy won't let you in, so you go to the library where you get the firecracker but then Gabrielle comes out of the library when your Dad comes and picks you up and drags you home. At that point Matpat would have had to use the rope to escape the Attic.
He escaped from the front door 3rd (and last time) last episode, and at the start here he's just leaving in the morning (not night) and skipping school to go to the Ballpit, that's why it appeared like the front door was open again, but really if he had to escape a 4th night the front door would stop him from leaving.
For 38:58 I would like to respond with a direct quote from Sir Matthew Patrick from earlier in this franchise "Oh look, here's a wall. Let me just dial in my phone number!"

That's why the setting for GTLive changed (again and so soon after they moved it from the basement of his house to the attic) and the logo changed with the intro. No reason for an intro with him in it since he is leaving
