It makes absolutely no sense that I live in the US, saved up say $166k and come in to buy a property in an economy that runs on generators with very poor infrastructure. Oh! I went to Lekki phase 1 when I visited Nigeria, the hood that I used to live in the US that is considered neglected has far better infrastructure than Lekki phase 1. It still floods so badly during rainy season. It's a nice to have if you have excess money from a windfall gain or via connection to the corrupt government, but using a meticulously saved money to buy a property in Nigeria is a dumb investment.

Way better in Nigeria! Average personal debt in the West is inter-generational. People actually own nothing, the banks do. It never used to be that way, it was actually like Nigeria before fractional reserve banking went into overdrive. Meanwhile in Nigeria in a year (if you can afforsd it) the property's yours! A real asset, not a fake one.
