My aquarium is in a room with no air conditioner, and the room can easily reach 90° during the hottest parts of the summer. My water temps were reaching high-80's. The advice I received was to remove the glass top (replaced with a mesh top) & set up a small fan to blow across the water, as the evaporation keeps the water cool. I didn't think this would work very well, but my temps stayed mid-70's all summer. Of course, the water evaporates much faster, but adding water more often is preferable to the high temps. I also set the fan on a timer, as in my case, it only needs to be on for half the day. Believe it or not, if I left the fan on all night, the temps would drop to the mid-60's.
here in india, mine are at 91 degree F for most part of the day! but i have got plants such as java fern, anubias, dwarf lilly, hydrophilia polysperma, cobamba klienbar swords growing quite well, luckly. great video and i love those plant sepcific ones of yours. thanks
Hey Jacob I love your channel! You seem to be one of the most knowledgeable guys on RUclips about aquarium plants and I've seen loads of your videos. I run a discus tank with plants but the tank has to be kept at 29C (84F) which I get is warm for most plants. Can you please recommend plants that will thrive at those temperatures and in particular any red ones? Would love it if you made a video about warm planted tanks if possible!
Maybe the light is too close or it is in a window receiving direct sunlight. If the room temp is staying below 75 then he shouldn’t have a problem keeping the temp down.
well I didn't know that temps were best at 70-75. I have all my tanks running between 75-80 and most my plants are surviving and a few are thriving...but some are also melting...might very well be the temp. Going to dial some of my temps back and see what happens.
Most helpful video ever. I couldn’t figure out why my plants keep dying. My water is set to 79 degrees. Now I know 😊 now to research what will do good in my temps
Hello, I was wounded if if you could help me. I have two black gold fish. The one of the fish seems to be dying the bigger fish has been attacking her, she has lost most of her fins now over the last 24hours, it seems that he is nipping her fins off. She hasn’t eaten today and has no interest in eating. She isn’t swimming much only when she has to escape billy big fish. She become very still and tilts then try’s to swim when she tilts too much. I don’t know what to do. She is clearly suffering. HELP Please....(If you can). Thanks.
Are there ANY plants that can survive higher temperatures? I have Discus and I HAVE to keep my tanks at 84-88. I have tried numerous types of plants and as stated in this video they die due to the high temps. Thanks!
The pond typically stays around 70 to 75 degrees. The hottest it gets during the summer is about 78. Pretty much everything I said in the video. Thanks for watching my friend.
My tanks temp is at a constant 79 degree. I have all S America fish. Moneywort, java moss, and sag are doing great. This tank has been planted for 13 months.
Oh sorry. Well. You can use sand or gravel. Thats pretty cheap. But you’re just limited to the species of plants you could grow out to their full potential. Thanks for watching.
Keep these types of videos coming! Stick to your roots brotha. Just an Idea but maybe try to pre record some footage of what the topic for that video is and then use your new AV setup to actually talk about the content. So basically this type of video with the Podcast setup. That way the podcast stays on topic and you have quality videos were everyone can learn. I miss these videos and I’m tired of the (Joe Rogan) style videos that everyone is now doing. Either way I’m a huge supporter and will watch whatever you put out Man!!

You can just leave the undergravel filter and disconnect the tubes. You would now have a plenum. I have plants grow with and without.
Tom will ...just added an ungravel filter (disconnected) to my aquarium 2 days ago to try with plants.
Stop begging man 😂😂😂😂, your videos are excellent and very informative.
Sir what do you recommend as cheapest substrates soil for aquatic plants?
