Extraordinarily helpful in deciding whether to purchase the software. I’m currently learning/teaching myself and others to use 2 and 3 heddles on the rigid heddle, so I eagerly await your next exploration of IWeaveIt for that. Thank you also for the lovely homemade tensioner video - I’ve shared it around the Handweavers Spinners and Dyers Guild of Tasmania and send folks to your RUclips’s. We loved the patterns for the 12 days of Christmas - I used 6 geese a-laying for my first ever cotton weaving the other day. Again, much thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you so much! I’m so pleased that I’m helping! Two heddle adventures are coming! (Later in the year as my timetable has been put out of whack with my injury) including twill, doubleweave and other exciting things. I’m thrilled that you are enjoying my videos so much that you share them. It really warms my heart! 💕
Thank you! Takes so much of the guesswork out of getting a project going! Also helps to be able to test patterns for yarn I already own. Please do continue !
Thank you for such an in-depth tutorial. I had heard of iWeaveIt but haven't had the time to try it. As you mentioned, looks like it would take a lot of the guess work out of choosing colours and reduce sampling both of which would be a bonus to me. 😊
Thank you so much for this, I’m a very new weaver and have just started to try and create my own patterns, and trying to do it on paper or in excel was not easy. I had no idea there was weaving software and I am definitely going to look into to this. Love all your videos that I have watched so far (I’m working through them 😁), they are so clear and very helpful to a beginner like myself.
I purchased Project Calculator and compared it to my own calculations, and it's pretty close. Honestly, I don't have a yardage counter when warping, so I use the published quantity on the yarn itself. In one instance, with an Ashford yarn, the website quoted 30 yards more than the actual yarn cone I received, so there was a typo either on the website or on the printed label. Like that instance, if your calculations are too close for comfort, it's best to purchase extra yarn. Later on, I added Designer Tools, and I found this very helpful for my 8-shaft table loom. The iPad version is perfectly sufficient for a variety of projects, but especially for rigid heddle weaving. I find the desktop version helpful for 4 or 8-shaft projects, but the upgrade cost is $$$$$ in my opinion, and I am not convinced it's worth it. I do travel and use the iPad version, and then pull up the saved files on my desktop which has a decently sized monitor to better view the overall pattern. In Canada, as of January 2023 the iPad app costs $33 + tax, and the add-ons are $10.00 each, so this can be fully priced out Canadian $63 + tax. As of January 2024 the desktop version is $200 + tax CAD.
p.s. @RigidHeddleWeavinginBrisbane I love your videos and would like to send a donation to your channel / buy you a coffee. What is the best way to do that? With this video, you shared your knowledge and made a really comprehensible, detailed video that must have taken a decent amount of time. I'm going to share it with a few of my weaving friends to help them better understand the software too. Thank you!
Thank you! I’m so glad you are enjoying my videos! Your information was also really helpful for the 4 and 8 shaft looms. I didn’t know it was more expensive for the PC versions. I haven’t set up for donations on the channel as yet as the purpose for me is to share knowledge however I will think about adding this option for those who wish to contribute. Thank you so much!!😊
