You always do Stig, ALWAYS ❤
Absolutely! Thank you Stig 👋👋❤
Yep!
We need a compilation of all of the good mornings
People love to hate the MAX and Boeing definitely has a lot to answer for as a company, but people like our dude Stig are why you have nothing to worry about and don't have to cancel your flight if it's a Boeing. Some planes might not have left the assembly line in perfect form, but give em a few cycles in the hands of mechanics like this and they will be as safe as anything else in the sky. Probably more so given all the extra scrutiny. Even if you don't trust the manufacturer you can definitely trust the guys like Stig looking after the birds.
Why you making me cry West. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for these beautiful words.
@@StigAviationthe whole "if it's Boeing I ain't going" thing is getting outta hand especially on RUclips comments so I try and push back when I can. I'm just some random idiot that loves geeking out on tech and aviation content and videos like yours help me see thru all the bull-ish.
And as a truck/bus driver you inspire me to take an aviation level of detail on my inspections and safety procedures. Keep being awesome!
@@WestCoastWheelman well boeing should upgrade some things.failures like losing a door are not acetable
You are delusional "give them a few cycles"? Seriously? They did and people died. What table did you crawl from under.....and stig is a maintenance guy not a mechanic those are in the hangars doing real work.
As amazing as maintenance is, the issues with the MAX are not things that can be picked up by maintenance inspections - but rather seem to be quality/design flaws.
Hey, I finished my 2nd week of AMT school, thank you for inspiring me to take this incredible journey.
You ain’t done yet brother. I’m gonna keep pushing you till you finish. Your only objective is forward. You don’t get to stop. Not an option.
Kitties! Retro American! I'm not even halfway through and loving all the nuggets. Maybe I'm easy to entertain, but I never get tired of what you share or the views of the planes pushing back.
Gotta echo everyone who loves the, "Goooooood morning everybody!"
I’m so happy you’re enjoying it all, the little segment with the fur babies was a last minute change up 😅🐱
The videos keep rolling and rolling! So first of two things, the Porsches you were looking at were the flagship EVs, the Taycans. Beautiful cars, I love them so much! Second, I finished my second week of AMT school, it was a great week! Still talking notes in both my classes, but in my shop class, we got to measure different parts’s diameters and thicknesses (pistons, crankshafts, etc.), with micrometers and dial calipers. I’m slowly learning the different components and tools, and your videos are such a help showing what the knowledge is like in action. Keep up on the videos, and I’ll still keep you posted on my journey 😁
Keep up the good studies, learning how to use micrometers and specialty tools are very important facet with an aircraft maintenance. One thing I’ll tell you is make sure you learn how to use a multimeter properly. That’s going to come in very handy when you start working
Thank you for the night footage. My grandfather worked at our local airport, and I spent many summer evenings with him on the apron. Great memories. Also, great to see your cat. :)
I’m very happy it brought back. Good memories.
How wonderful that you found a job that you would continue even if you won the lottery.
That is a blessing I would wish on everyone, for them to find their true purpose on this little blue dot.
And thank you for sharing that love and your wisdom with us trough your videos.
Thank you so much for the kind words, and I appreciate you being here and watching
We wait for this gooooooooooodmorningeverybody all week!

It’s a pleasure to have you here, I’m glad you’re enjoying the adventures Simons
Yesss, just this morning was thinking I needed some more Stig Shift in my life lol. Popcorn time. 👌
Enjoy!
One of the reasons I really enjoy watching your content is because you truly are so passionate and genuine about what you do. It is so refreshing to see someone who is a shining example of loving the work they do! Thank you for that!
Thank you so much for the kind words sir
I just graduated and received my certifications 🎉 thank you for uploading watching you just makes me feel more excited to start working for an airline 😊
Congratulations to you, you have achieved something amazing. It’s a very proud moment.
Just made me strive even harder to get my A&P every video makes me push harder learn everything i possibly can. The thought of working a fault and fixing problems so passengers can get home or fly to start their vacation safely and your videos are helping tremendously. Keep up the good work and hopefully I run into you once done. Aviation is a small world my teachers say.
Your teachers are absolutely correct. Aviation is a very, very small world, keep up the good studies.
Brother don’t every worry about something being boring. I patiently wait for your next video, and I personally thank you for sharing all of them. I am a commercial pilot with both fixed wing and rotor wing ratings. I have flown a ton of different aircraft from Lear Jets, to the P-3 Orion, and multiple types of helicopters. I love watching your videos.
I was curious, because as required, I done all of my preflight walk around, physically touching and wiping things down to inspect the aircraft. On the Navigation Lights, do the aircraft you maintain have sensors on them to let you or the pilot know they are malfunctioning or how or who is responsible.
Thank you for your time my friend. Jeff
There’s no sensors on the navigational lights, but the new ones, the LED navigational lights do have an internal light that starts flashing when the unit is close to failure, it’s called a near end of life NEOL.
Excellent bit of info on the 787 gear doors. I've learnt something new and cool. Thanks Stig, see never boring!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Yep, I sure did. Awesome bit of info!!
i really enjoy when you showcase and document life as a airport worker, not just as a aircraft mechanic. Especially showing what it's like even the small things like getting your lunch from the terminals just shows how the airport never sleeps and it's a mini-city.
You said it perfectly, it genuinely is a mini city
Never was really interested in Aviation until Stig came along, that has since changed, my favorite channel on RUclips 😊
That means a lot to me Sean. Thank you very much for being here and enjoying aviation and these adventures
Great video stig! Keep up the great work out here in these birds!
Thanks, will do!
Welcome to school everyone, Stig is gonna teach us! I love how you show us extreme close up's, easier to see the details, of these magnificent birds! I get a kick when pilots leave the beacon on, I think they do it for our viewing pleasure. When the two fingers come out, I know were switching to guns hehe. I love this job as much as you Stig, I watch every nano second of it. Awww, I love your adorable cat. ♥ You know I love your break riding too Stig, your amazing you know. That last plane came in fast, pilot was speed racer there lol.
As always, thank you so much. I’m so happy that you’re enjoying all of this.

i really like your videos, the way you explai all the systems, how some parts of an airplane work, the diference between some mufacturers, the music you put in the video, and how calm you teach us. you always make my day and i appreaciate it. thanks and have a good day.😁👏
Thank you so much for the incredible compliments George. I appreciate you being here and watching.
I’m transitioning to the 737 from the Airbus starting next month, and it’s nice to be able to see some of the systems that are harder see, or systems where the pilot references don’t have as much info. You do a great job, and I wonder if I didn’t see you in the jet bridge a couple of months ago when we came into LAX.
Hope the transition goes smoothly, let me know how you are enjoying it so far. And if you do fly to LAX and if it’s the weekend, most likely I’m there. I’m sure we will run into each other one of these days.

Thank you so much Tyler, that means a lot to me
I share your view of line work and aircraft maintenance in general, line is lots of the same tasks with moments of high excitement when you get a defect that must be rectified. For those outside aircraft maintenance the hard part is to maintaining inspection standards on repeated inspections when you find nothing most of the time. The tendency in humans is to see what you expect not what is actually there, an example is a rear end accident on a freeway where the driver expects to see the traffic moving so doesn’t see the traffic slow or stop therefor runs into the back of the line of cars. The tape you used on the hose is known as amalgamating tape in Qantas. I have seen it used on cannon plugs for extra protection from liquid ingress on engines and in wheel wells, it is very effective. Line work is great, I worked mostly line in the first 25 years of my career, “the great big hangar with the leaky roof”. The last 23 years were in Base (Heavy) Maintenance, highlights were being involved in major reconfigurations on B767, B747 and A330 aircraft, challenging and fun. Well done sir.
It’s a lot of fun, both sides, Line and Hanger, I too, have participated and worked in both environments. That tape works great even in hot environments, it has a very high temperature value.
Wow first time watching your channel. You’re awesome! What a happy and positive attitude you have. It’s clear you love your job! What access you have to these amazing machines! Every day must be an adventure! Subscribed sir! Cute cats too :)
Thank you so much for being here, I appreciate you watching and I am glad you are enjoying the adventures

Regarding the 737 max
I talked to pilots of Ryanair who fly 737-800 and 737-8200 (737-8-200).
They told me that they like the 737 max, but the flight attendants dont like them.
The reason is that they have to work more, because the 737-8200 has around 200 pax.
The numbers of flightattendants on the flights are mostly the same like on the 738, except that they need to serve more passengers.
13 months ago I experienced for the first time in my life an autoland CAT II in the 737-8200.
Thanks for your educating videos!
Pretty much all flight attendants don’t like the 737 because it is very cramped inside of the galley
Cute little kitty, ah got distracted.. 😂 So wonderful, thank you for another great video. Greetings from LSZH
Thank you too! Cheers from LAX
Hey there! I have just finished the AMT program and I am currently studying for my O&P’s which will be in 2 weeks. I’m a little nervous, but I think I will be ok. Stumbled onto your videos a few days ago and I have watched a number of them already! Fun and educational! Thanks for the content and keep them coming!
Don’t be nervous at all, you are going to pass your O&P test. One word of advice is to remember the basics. If the instructor gives you a question that you don’t understand, ask the instructor to rephrase that question and give you an example. Instructors want you to pass, the information is all in your head. It’s just accessing it is the hard part. I’m wishing you nothing but success, let me know how it goes.
Thanks once again Stig for another informative & enjoyable video. Love seeing your cats…..meow😂😂
Glad you enjoyed it

Hey stig, My parents are having to put the family dog down today and we are all not in the best of mindset and I'm using ypur content to help me escape emotions and I just have to say I appreciate you for not only teaching but being the one who is teaching and making aviation maintenance super enjoyable to watch. I am a Ramp agent, and it's super interesting to see the parts of the aircraft and tell people what it does and just nerd out. Thank you so much for the awesome content, and keep going man it's really helping, not just me but all of us!
I’m so sorry to hear about your family dog, I can understand how difficult this is, they become family and it’s hard to let go. I’m glad these videos can help get your mind off of things.
Amazing info video Stig! Keep it up. Thanks❤

In the brake riding timelapse, from about 51:45... It's just mesmerizing. Two planes in parallel taxiways moving along, then a bit later after the turn you see two planes criss-crossing the taxiway in opposite ways, and then the line of approaching landing lights - Ground operations are such a ballet of people and machinery moving around. As is aviation as a whole.
Thanks for the content!
I call it, the ballet of metal, always moving. The airport is like a living breathing creature.
Another great video Stig....this former ramp agent appreciates these videos....brings back memories.

I used to be an AirForce crew chief and then an A&P mechanic for a while after I got out. Thanks for sharing this brings back memories. Incredible machines. The smell of burnt jet fuel and the sound of the compressor spooling down, nice! When I hear people speak of how powerful their car is and how much horsepower it has I kind of snicker. If you've never been in aviation like this, you just don't know the feeling it gives you. Great job man! What is your job title?

Goooooood morning. 😂
I just came back from work where we had our first A 330-900. Only for a tire change but hey. It was the green Condor D - ANRD. She was even in L.A at your airport. What i discovered was that the engines are much cooler after shut down than on the A 330-300. Here we had RR Trent 7000. They were buildt here in Brandenburg near Berlin. That's a really nice touch because we don't have that much industry and good payed jobs here in the former GDR. Well. I had goosebumps when i saw that bird. A 50% German engeneered & build plane. The fuselage has a different sound when you knock on it due to the composite material. Inside it looks fantastic. Much much better than the old - 300 version. The best thing is the noise footprint. When they switched on the engines they were so quiet that we didn't even had to wear our earprotectors. When they accelerated on the runway and disapeared in the black night i felt this is a new century in aviation that had began. I am an old school plane lover. I grew up with the 747-200, DC 10 and the Tristar L 1011. But this technology here is nuts. Delta made the right decision to set on Airbus and we are damned proud here in Germany that they fly our jets. We now have a poster in our hangar with their LA 28 sticker on one of their A 350's. So every time when you are on the table ( we call it so ) and see that A 350 rolling by you can think of one of your subscribers. And when the Condor when with the green stripes lands. Of course.....😂
I’ll do my best to capture that condor bird next time it rolls through LAX. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful story with me. Wishing you all the best in Germany. Cheers 🤙

You brought back memories Stig. I’ve used that orange tape on wire bundles as well as hydraulic/oil lines. For some reason, I don’t know why we called it Ice Box Tape. Very useful product.
Incredibly useful and very versatile tape. Used so many places.
Stig, again I want to thank you for taking your time to record these videos for us. Every video that you have done never get boring and sometimes my wife and I re-watch some of them because they had a part that was very interesting. I have a couple of questions for you. Do the wide body aircraft still have below deck galley storage areas for example the L1011 and 747, and if so if you have a chance can you video one? Also, I'm pretty sure you probably have done a video on this topic, what is the best avenue to become an aircraft mechanic to work for one of the major airlines like AA? And would you recommend someone that is in their mid-40's to go to school and finish the rest of their career working as an aircraft mechanic. I am very much an aviation geek, and have been since I was a little one. I worked several years as a ramp agent and absolutely loved it, being around aircraft all day is amazing especially for someone that has loved aviation his entire life. Watching your videos inspire me to try and finish out my last 20+ years as a mechanic. Thank you again for the videos and thanks in advance for your reply. Stay safe out there
The modern widebody aircraft no longer have a lower deck galley. Although there are some aircraft configurations that do have lower deck lavatories as well as lower deck crew quarters. The best avenue of becoming a aircraft technician is to simply find the school that is nearest to you. The FAA website has a list of every single school within the United States. 40 years old is not that old, I have seen men and women in that age going to school for this profession. If it’s truly something that you wanna do and you’re passionate about it, I highly recommend you go check a school and take a tour. Look at the curriculum ask the questions and see if it’s something that you want to do. There is one thing that I will warn you about, when you start in Aviation, it’s all seniority based. You will be starting at the bottom, which means you will be working graveyard shift and probably no weekends off or holidays off. Take that into consideration, if you have more questions message me on Instagram and we can have a one on one conversation.
I was watching a youtube video that a guy films of Christchurch International Airport over here in NZ and in it there was a Jetstar A320 that had landed and when it was at the gate he commented on the sound that came from it as the APU. I felt so proud of myself to let him know that what he was hearing was the fan brake and told him about your videos that you put up. All that because of what I learned from you, Stig. 👍👍
Absolutely phenomenal Mark. I’m so happy that you learned and can share the knowledge as well. Cheers to you. 🤙

Well said! Everyday is a school day. 👍
Glad you posted tonight. Now I have something to watch on my flight to Phoenix tomorrow morning which is sadly on United as AA no longer flies out of our airport. Wish they'd come back now that travel is booming post 'rona. I much preferred AA over United namely because I loathe the devil's chariot and the 1-2 of the E145 wasn't that bad on short flights. I pray the weather gods are in a good mood tomorrow as my connection is at my most favorite airport in the world, O'Hare.
I wish you a good flight, and I hope the weather is good in Chicago.
Oh the irony. The plane that normally overnights here went mx and so did its replacement so I had 15 minutes to run to my gate so apologies to anyone who had to see that. Honestly not sure how they got us here in time. I didn’t know a devil’s chariot could do almost 600 over the ground.

It definitely was a much needed break. Thank you so much.
I personally love the Max! It's my favorite airplane. But I do hear you on the Airbus. When I was on the ramp, the A320s were much easier to handle than the 737s. I could actually stand up in the cargo pits! XD The 737, I'm a Boeing girl through and through but I gotta admit, that early morning Alaska flight to ANC: throwing 50lbs fish boxes in that cargo hold, ugh!

Waking up to another Stig Shift, happy days 😁
I have been binge watching your previous videos and was wondering what safety rules (either official, or just your own) that you follow when engines are running? Seeing your closeups of the engines as aircraft arrive, and then also watching you hand-start an engine blew my mind!
We follow rules and regulations in regards to safety when being around engines, there is a minimum distance that we should be standing when the engine is running. That’s usually 20 to 25 feet away from it. I actually made a dedicated video talking about this, check it out when you get a chance it’s one of the old ones.
@@StigAviation Thanks for the reply! Keep up the good work man!
Always it's a great opportunity to watch your videos and learn fantastic stuffs!!
I appreciate that! Thank you for being here
Hey, first of all great video as always. I love every single minute of stig shift adventures cus they ceep me up to date, entertaned and challenge me to refresh my knowledge.
Here I have a question for you: when towing the aircraft you always switch on the APU and hydraulic electrical pumps (for brakes I guess). Is that a absolut necessary procedure to follow everytime?
Im asking because I have learned to tow the aircraft without APU and hydraulics running. For braking we always used the green hydraulic accumulator wich can provide enough pressure for one breaking event. In the end aviation is all about cost efficienty but letting the APU run at every towing event will result in quite high fuel consumption. I would love to hear from you.
With love from germany ❤
It might not be fuel, efficient, but safety standards come first. That’s why we keep the APU running so we have electrical power for navigational lights as well as the beacon and we want the hydraulics running and not simply rely on the accumulator.
YT offered up this video today. So a first timer to your channel. Really enjoyed. And have subscribed. One thing I could not workout when you moved the aircraft were you being towed or actually taxiing it ?
@@caggius42 I was being towed. And thank you for being here and enjoying the adventures.

I’ll definitely do a segment for that in the future. Thank you so much for watching.
It was only the other week at work where we changed a spoiler mixer quadrant …. And yes you weren’t kidding when you said it’s a frustrating job to perform
It took about 3 days off rigging cables going across the NLG to each wing tip…. We had taken all primary wing flight cables off during a wing spar repair so then involved having to also change the spoiler mixer
I told you, it is a nightmare to change 🤣
I've grabbed my coffee! Let's go!

38:50 FYI the XLR isn't any longer than a standard A321; it's just higher MTOW and more fuel. There's perpetual rumours of an A322 but nothing official.
