when u said about the C shortages at 4:50, its a bit WTF now in 2024.
Such a good 2nd hand mobile workstation if you can find one.

Would you have to disconnect the battery before removing old ssd, or can I just remove it. I have a gen 5 by the way.

Strangely, on my X1 Extreme G4, the NVME had a heatsink and the heatsink itself was in the sleeve.

How do you like the machine? Especially interested about thermals and noise.

Depends what you use it for, the machine is great, keyboard is best in class, if you’re gaming or heavily utilizing the GPU the laptop does get very hot in some areas.

@@305TechOfficial I don't plan on gaming. Just everyday business use and adobe suite sometimes. I just like the screen, weight and the ability to upgrade ram and ssd.

@@TheOxraid I think you’ll be happy with this model.

is the SSD upgrade just replacing by the empty one? do you have do install OS before replacing it?

Yes, you can re-install the OS or clone the data over using Acronis.

Hi, I have quite peculiar question regarding speaker grills. How are the grills built? Do they have real holes on the whole grill surface? Or maybe there are holes just over (small) area of speakers and the rest are "blind" holes (not really going through chassis)? I'm asking because I have one old ThinkPad with such partly "blind" speakers grills and they gather dirt really awfully and there is practically no way to clean them up. Right now I'm thinking about buying X1 g4 and I really wouldn't want to run into the same problem. Thank you.

Speaker holes are real, I can’t remember whether all the way or just over the speaker area, I’ve since shipped the laptop to my client.

My motherboard looks the same. Are there two slots for SSDs? I only found one slot on the right side, I can't find anything on the left side under the sheet metal cover. According to the Lenovo manual, there should be a second slot for another SSD, but there is nothing. I'm confused, is that so?

I believe it depends on what graphics card you have. The higher ones need that space for heat sinks.

@@reov777 Thanks. I don't know, maybe you're right. There is an Nvidia RTX3080. If that's the reason, however, then Lenovo should state it very clearly on its spec list, which they don't.

@@aquamir I have two X1s, one has the Nvidia graphics card and 1 x SSD slot. The other doesn't have the Nvidia graphics card and does have the two SSD slots. I agree when ordering I thought both would have two SSD slots.

@@aquamir I agree, I tore down a customer's laptop fairly extensively looking for the second slot.
