- In our first drive video, we tell you all the big positives and negatives of the brand new Mahindra Thar Roxx 5-Door, which is based on a heavily revised Scorpio N/Thar Platform. It has also received the penta suspensions that we have seen on the Scorpio N, but that too has gone through some changes to offer the Roxx a more stable ride & handling balance. In fact, the Roxx also gets more powerful version of the 2.0-litre mStallion Petrol and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engines. Both the engines now produce 173bhp and 370Nm. Besides mechanical changes, it also gets a new cabin and an extra row of seats to accommodate 4 adults and a child. The boot space too has gone up at 440-litres thus making the Thar Roxx a more practical vehicle than its 3-door counterpart. While it has received several changes, it still misses out on a few things that would make the experience even more wholesome.

One thing I love about Mahindra that they are at least keeping the authenticity of SUVs alive. Be it 700,Thar,Scorpio,Roxx; all the models are having 4x4 or AWD. And second thing they're not disrupting power,torque,feel of the vehicle in the sake of mileage.

I never understood why people are crazy about the Thar 3 doors but now I fall in love with this one, apart from it's name Roxx, this Thar really rocks in every practical sense.

Most sensible thar. 4*2 versions under 20L on road make great sense, it will definitely full fill dreams of many 30-40 yrs olds to own a thar, a thar that be used as a regular car to drop ur kids to school too.
But this type of suv are made for adventure. It's design for adventure. So, it won't give you comfortable ride quality like Xuv700, Harrier or other crossover SUVs. Even ScorpioN is more comfortable than this suv.
No one other than driver will enjoy the ride...😊.. so if only driver wants to enjoy why not the 3 door thar. Anyways back seat passengers going to puke in long distance.
@@avinash2_ yes i know but owning a thar is a different feeling altogether. It might not be most comfortable but who cares its a thar 😂 and it seats 5. First time suv buyers will not feel the lack of comfort, experienced one's like us will definitely feel that.
@@souravhalder4420 come on it's not gonna be that bad,ladder frame SUVs have bouncy ride but remember scorpio n is also a ladder frame suv but has got a very plush ride and thar uses the same platform. Driver for sure is going to have some fun 😀

4) I'd ike to add my bit as a current Thar owner, I switched from an ML350 diesel and didnt buy a Merc again when I drove this. And I didnt have the heart to waste money buying an expensive car as the 10 year diesel car scrapping policy came in even for the super cars, which is unfair.
I Changed the tyres to POR (RADAR) the thick rubber made my drive super smooth. As the CEAT ones I got only top model petrol, were worse than the ones used on my road cycle.
Changed the Headlights to LED's
The insulation is something I didnt add, but will add the sound dampeners to the doors this time surely.
Glad to know the speaker system is changed as music is life for me.
The bluetooth music / phone connectivity doesn't work in the 3 door for me despite repeated attempts by Mahindra, on software etc, so my bluetooth only connects 20 days out of 30 days in a month. So I have to listen to FM in those days. Kishore Da zindabad.
The maximum mileage I got for my petrol, is 5.5 to 6 on 95 octane (regular use).
Boot Space was a big concern as I keep my road cycle in my thar for my early morning cycling. Was a 2 door for all purposes.
Hope I can fit my cycle in the boot space and use the rear seats for my family.

I think Mahindra did a great job because its not just partical and looks are to good just think if 3 door sales are good now by this 5 door , all 15 to 30 lakhs car segments will be disruptived specialy tata hyundai and skoda

They have Suzuki Sierra to be launch soon in sand climbing Jimny win against Thar Jimny is a world market car but Thar is limited in Indian market

Yogi bhai, problem is they've given the 173bhp tune for only the 4x4 Diesels.
Even the AX7L D AT comes with sadly the lower state of 15Xbhp state of tune. It's really discriminatory in spite of paying almost 25+ lakhs on road for a fully loaded variant.
Who gives that much power for 25 lakhs in diesel other than mahindra itself 😂

For many young at heart Thar is aspirational & also the most desirable Lifestyle vehicle after Bullet 350 motorcycle.
It's an accepted fact that people hardly don't bother about pricing for Lifestyle vehicles. Bus Vehicle Pasand aana chaiye.
Now it's going to be slightly easier for the young buyers to convince parents now it has been offered doors at the rear for comfortable Ingress-Egress for seniors + bootspace to carry our luggage on long trips.
Boss Thar Roxx will be blessings in disguise for many young affordable buyers.
Buying a Car till date 90+% it's a family decision & since parents were unable to get in easily it was Rejected outright. No question asked unless you could convince them hard for 3 door THAR.

Is the 4x2 capable enough to go to reasonably tough conditions like say upper himachal, ladakh etc. or light snow or slushy conditions? Given increasing restrictions on diesel and higher cost for 4x4, when should one consider it?

One question.. i own jeep compass with no complaints, can you please suggest if i am looking for change with Thar roxx,, then it will give same drive comfort as compass provide, because as i know compass has very good suspension system and steering system is awesome, due to that drive quality is awesome, also no doubt on engine performance with good milage, is thar roxx give me same benefits…

The new Mahindra Thar Roxx 4×4 has received positive reviews, but there's little mention of the absence of a petrol 4×4 option in the top model. Given its adventurous design, the diesel model may face challenges in extreme conditions, such as -10°C temperatures, due to the higher flash point of diesel fuel, which can cause difficult cold starts. Has the automaker introduced any new technology in this model to address the serious cold start issues experienced in older versions?

U can...if u have no other liabilities like Home loan, children, or any other loans. If u have enough cash then it's good otherwise check ur loan approval.
