My grandfather loved his Town Cars and Grand Marquis'...he owned several of them over the years. The one I remember most vividly was his red '97 that he used like a farm truck. Had the spoke wheels just like this one. He would load the trunk up with tools and parts for our equipment, and wasn't afraid to take it offroad when he had to. It was also the first car I ever drove on a public road before getting my license. He ran that car about 240,000 miles before parking it, but it was super reliable. That door dinger sound brings back fond memories of him and the car....both of which are long gone.
I picked up my '97 almost 2 years ago with only 50k miles on it, now at 68k. My project today is the alternator and serpentine belt. Thanks for posting this.
I put a 200 amp alt in my 96 town car when I had it. It didn’t matter what load, that thing always maintained 13.8 volts. Also that anti shakey cam stuff you had going was super disorienting.
Had mine 15 years bought it with 30k and now I have 124k on my 2001 grand marquis, the alternator just went out , replacing it today 👍 love the car , can't let it go
Good video! I have a 2004 Town Car with only 62k miles and in very nice shape. Love it! I'll keep this video in mind for down the road if I have an issue with the alternator.
Nice work Daniel. Another issue with that alternator whether it is an F series, Mustang, or Crown Vic is for a while they were creating RFI on the cam signal. For a moment I thought that might be where you were going. There is an old TSB for it.
I hear ya! I have a dark red '01 mercury grand marquis gs! Same problem, need a new alternator! But I love this car! Would never part with it! Rides beautifully! Nice beige velour seats, nice interior! Has a slight rough idling problem when I first start the engine, lasts for a few minutes so l just lean on the accelerator until it runs smooth! Maybe the throttle body is clogged? Have you ever had this problem with yours?
My 2003 MGM is like new still, only 85k miles. No problems with it except fuel pumps, it eats those. Just got pump number 4 installed a few months ago.
@@DanielJaegerFilms I've been a lurker since the Kubota RTV900 video in what, 2009? I didn't even have a RUclips account then. I've always been a fan though. I remember the first Marquis video, the RTV 900 and the "that's why they call it Dex-Kill" I know it's the internet, but I did not have to go and re-watch anything
Hey my friend i love watch the 98 silverado videos runs awesome ans miss that truck on your channel but please make a update video on the 98 silverado i love that truckb
We are replacing the alternator on my 05 Mercury grand marquis. Everything was going well but when we went to hook the cable back it will not reach. The wire runs right on top of alternator to me this would cause a problem touching the alternator casing. What solution would you suggest?
Turn every load on and put it in gear and see how low it drops. Trucks normally have higher amperage rated alternators. The one in the Marquis might only be rated for 180 amps. The one in your f150 might be rated at 200 or higher. My 2003 F150 King Ranch has a 240 amp alternator.

My Great Aunt has a 1995 Grand Marquis LS in MINT condition. White coloured as well. 175,000 KM on it. She takes such good care of it.

Yeah those 4.6L engines are amazing, I have 307,000 on my 2001 f150 still running smooth. 145 miles daily six days a week

Yeah I didn’t realize how bad it was before I uploaded it. Won’t be using iMovie’s image stabilization for these types of videos again.

Looks like post production anti shakey stuff to me - not the camera doing it. Am I wrong?
I have a 200 amp alternator in my 2005 Police Interceptor. Always maintains 13.8 also 👍
I actually prefer that anti-shake to some others that distort everything. At least with this one everything looked they way it should still.

Gotta Love the Panther Platform
It’s been a while that the Grand Marquis has been on the channel
Exactly, I haven't seen a video on this car in at least 3 or 4 years... lol
Thanks alot for the content just had the those same issues and your video helped get things diagnosed very quick. Thanks again
Hey got all my lights on dash on what could it be? Alternator

We should see an update on the excursion
this car is the main reason i sub to your channel, at the time i had a 1994 crown vic

Love the 4.6 I have a 2010 f150 4.6 3v with 315k miles, still runs solid.
Ah, the 400 subscriber gift!!
Wow, you’ve either been watching for a while or you went back in time and watched that video! 😉

Great motor. Love the video. Don't try a power steering pump. And I hate the 1 piece fan shroud.
Hey! It's a panther! Woohoo. 03MM long live the Panthers
Thanks I have to replace mine today ty for the lesson
Should I switch out the belt even if it's a little over a year old?
Great video!
I accidentally cracked the hole where the serpentine belt tensioner is fastened. It's a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis. Can anything be done about that?
I’m wondering if this also pretense to a 1999 Mercury GM to
Well hello Daniels sister. 😗
Did it fix the problem.
12 volts with it running seems low. my 2001 f150 4.6L stays around 13.8 volts. 200,000 miles with the factory alternator.
I still find it strange, I stay at 13.8 maybe as low as 13.5 with the a/c on in gear at stop lights. Research says 13.8-14.2 is the sweet spot.

Supper annoying that camera moving thing going on
why you didnt teach us how to replace this):
Wait that has to be the only car I know of that will actually release the parking brake if you put it in gear. Most newer cars do the exact opposite 🤣
Good video..
Super simple but skipped the process on removal like belt tensioner
Built in St.Thomas, Ontario, Canada, eh.

A.K.A Crown Victoria

Too much talking in the video before he got to any repair work
Easy enough tho
