- Walkthrough of two basic knots, the clove hitch and the truckers' hitch, that allow you to install and tighten a clothesline. Also use for installing a ridgeline for a rent between two trees.
I legit have come back to this specific video for 4 years running, during the summer, MULTIPLE TIMES each of those summers, when I need to hang a clothesline to dry out the inflatable pool I chill in during the Texas summer heat! Thank you for creating such an easy to follow and to the point video, Rusty! Now, if only I could actually retain the knowledge of how to tie this knot!
I have a bad memory. 😅
My roommate and I were so impressed by the truckers knot, we waited patiently for you to tie it tightly. We started crying once the video ended out of nowhere. We hope someone hurts you today as much as you hurt us :,(
Finish it off with a tautline hitch, that will allow you to tighten without it loosening from weight.
Wtf
All you have to do is tighten and do a half hitch like how you secured the other end?
Guess the joke it they were chairs so he couldn't really tighten it
The chairs would just move
I know this is 6 years old but you save my life with your easy description. Alright, maybe you didn't save my life, but you save me a lot of trouble tying my clothes line up. 😂
Thank you for making a video that is easy to follow and understand I have had the toughest time and struggled trying to get this info.TY
man, works great
Thank you very much! My husband won't do anything around the house so this really helps.
You're welcome! My mom is single, and she made this video for herself. She told me years later how much it has helped her, which is why I shared it online. I'm so happy you commented.
I think you need to fix the husband not the clothesline lol
Yay you Tina for taking charge!
Good video. I have found that since rope stretches a taught line on one end helps me quickly tighten it.
It just... ends. What a suspenseful and unhelpful end. 😂
Pole Tooke Yeah man, my old mom recorded this for herself and said it helped so I shared it. I didn’t even have the slightest suspicion the video would become so popular. Basically the only thing you missed after the cut off is make a couple half hitches or a stopper knot around the whole thing to hold it in place. That knot is a basic truckers hitch; if you need a little more detail there is plenty of reference material out there.
I've been looking for this tutorial for some time. Thank you
Sorry it cut out. AND THEN!? You tie 1-2 half hitches (stopper knot) around the truckers’ hitch to hold it in place.
Haha!! I was just going to ask... too funny! Thanks!
That was anti-climax man. 😂 Thanks for the tutorial. Might I suggest pinning this comment to the top?
Greets from India 👍🏾
I don't know how to. Any videos?
Awesome
We did it
Ty🎉
Thank you for this video, very helpful.
thanks for this
Thank you for this. I had to free style the end but I think it works now. E
I can't thank you enough for this
Thank you so much! I finished it off with a Tautline Hitch and my Clothesline is nice and tight.
Thankyou. I was able to do my clothesline 💛🌞
Thanks for this!
Worked well!!!!
Thank you for sharing!
You are a good teacher!!
Glad I could help! You make me feel better, because so many people commented that I did a terrible job explaining what I was doing.
I love clothes lines 🎉
go clotheslines THE BIG SHOW
Thanks mate!
great video but i wish you would had included how to secure/end the knot on the 2nd post
So how about a tightening knott that ties two ends of same rope together that can slide through a pully but can still tighten? No tie off post...it's a full loop but the ends connected and I need to tighten it so it'll still go through the pully...I maybe over thinking this, I'm obsessed with knotts and know a ton but sometimes in situations a little different than usual I get stuck and try every knott I know and sorta get myself confused and flustered...wondering if my problem has a simple solution other than buying the stupid clothes line tightener that's on amazon for 9$ or the clothes line hitch on amazon does basically same thing...I know there's a way to do this and idk why it's so far from my mind right now..anyone help me here? It's like 7pm and I've got like 6 blankets I need to hang up regardless it being dark now.
Great shout that mudh
AND THEN?!
Alucard Sorry it cut out. AND THEN!? You tie 1-2 half hitches (stopper knot) around the truckers’ hitch to hold it in place.
Super Mario Bros sound at 1:35 !!!
I tried to do this so many times and just lost my cool you can't even see him crossing it over
I'm so sorry. Many people were able to do it from watching, so perhaps try on a larger screen, like a laptop. Practice indoors on a chair like I did, and send me a message if you still can't get it.
I cannot see what you are doing at 1:55
John Stern It’s a truckers hitch. I mention in the video it creates a double pulley.
why did you cut out the ending?
raiden derp LOL. My mom made this video for herself, and she is not exactly very good at using iPhones.
@@RustyJem Thats too funny! Thats cool though. Hey to your mom!
In the 1st not he doesn't tell you whether you loop over the top or underneath when you come round tuckett through both parts of the loop or do you come through the centre not very clear at all
I'm not really sure what you're asking...that's the thing. Explaining a knot is tricky. If you can't figure it out from watching closely, try another tutorial for that same knot, which is called a CLOVE HITCH. Best wishes.
Didnt get this at all; your bloody arms are in the way.
Exactly
OMG worst movie ever - a brilliantly clear explanation, then right before the money shot - it cuts out!! I guess you just pull tight at the end and that's it....
Please check my comment above - it's just 2 half hitches (typical overhand knot) just to hold the trucker hitch together.
