Not sure the pill system as a de-stresser really makes sense immersion-wise and just logically…Alex is just downing pills she finds anywhere without a care? Why are they there? How are they having such an immediate but short effect??
Yeah, pills take forever to kick in if taken normally cause they have to digest like food. Maybe she chews them... That speeds it up a little but for instant effect shed have to crush one up and snort it or something 😂
Why do you want game logic to have a one to one equivalency with the real world? It's a gameplay mechanic. It makes the game challenging. Plenty of games don't make sense if taken at face value. You can't parry a chainsaw with a knife but that doesn't make RE 4 remake a bad game. Do you think the developers weren't smart enough to figure this out? We don't need u to state the obvious, Captain Obvious. A video game should have fun mechanics first and realism second
@@sparshbansal6624 ah yes downing pills is a fun mechanic 😊. Not sure why you took this comment so personally, are you one of those devs? They could have easily tweaked it to have it make sense and also be a de-stresser mechanic! Have some rest bud you are way too high strung.
@@WoWfan78797 I didn't take the comment personally. I just pointed out the absurdity of the comment. Video game mechanics can't have 1 to 1 equivalency with reality as we know it or they won't be fun. And yes, downing pills, in and of itself, isn't fun but in conjunction with the rest of the mechanics, it's fun. It induces tension. If you won't take the pills, you will have an asthma attack and so the pills become a useful currency. I think it's fun and am absolutely okay with it being unrealistic
Oh yeah one of the most iconic things about the award-winning "A Quiet Place" franchise is how key the monetisation is to the whole thing. I love how neatly they tied it into the lore. Remember in the movie where the protagonists can buy a premium currency that they can spend to get the monsters to leave them alone?
I NEVER expected a black metal reference in this lmao. John's right, a LARGE percentage of Black metal fans are pretty insufferable. This comment is incredible to me because I absolutely remember writing smileys like that when I was passing notes with my friends in middle school a decade and a half ago!
What makes me sad is there are too much and often flashing lights in this game that isn't even necessary or atmospheric.. I have epilepsy and I always have to skip parts just to save my self from an episode. I do understand it adds to the atmosphere, etc but sometimes it's excessive. Or it wasn't needed at all.
I never think about it since I don't have epilepsy or any light sensitivity, but I don't feel like it adds a lot to atmosphere. Considering how dangerous it can be to some people, and how common the problem is, it's weird that there's not an accessibility option. Arachnophobia and colorblind modes are increasingly common, and subtitles are standard now. But I've never seen a "no flashing lights" option.
@@JWildberry Agreed! This is really an accessibility option all of us as gamers should be asking devs for. It sucks that so many horror games especially feature these kind of effects that make them basically unplayable for people with photosensitive epilepsy
Something that mildly annoys me about this franchise/universe is they don’t understand how sound works, a big noise doesn’t mean you can’t be heard making loud noises, it’s not cancelling out the sound you make so once it travels far enough away from the epicentre of the bigger sound like a waterfall the noise you made would be easily distinguished from the immediate background noise near you, rain would make you harder to pinpoint within limited frequency/decibel ranges but the idea that a big noise means you can’t be heard is just wrong, if the noise you make is loud and is not obstructed or absorbed it continues to travel until it dissipates, you would still want to be careful so that the noise you make blends in or fades quickly enough to avoid detection. But hey maybe I’m wrong.
if you are by a waterfall and make a noise quieter than a waterfall how does it travel farther than the sound of the waterfall to be picked up by something listening further away from both sounds.
@@yuwrenn if it’s quiet enough it will dissipate before it gets far but a loud noise quieter than the cover sound will still travel far enough that a creature with sufficient hearing would be able to distinguish it from the cover noise especially if the sounds are of great enough distinction, different frequencies, pitch and or decibels would effect this, there would be a range of sounds that would be close enough in signature to be covered well enough though not perfectly others wouldn’t travel far but some would simply not line up well and would be detected easily at sufficient distance where the cover sound begins to loose its effectiveness. A simple example would be blowing a distress whistle next to a waterfall, up close you may go unheard do to the background noise covering the sound but the whistles sound is designed to travel and do to the different frequencies of these sounds once far enough away the whistle would become more easily distinguished, a first hand experience would be standing in a temperature controlled trailer the kind that delivers stock to super centres, when the fan runs it can be difficult to hear yourself or others even while yelling, however the sound generated by yelling continues to travel and is quite easily heard by those outside as the noise of the fan while loud doesn’t travel as far as our yelling can, the waterfall technique may work in more immediate vicinity’s but would still draw farther threats if people got too comfortable and loud as a result. I believe Roanoke Gaming also touches on this in his examination of the Death Angels, essentially pointing out that sound isn’t being cancelled out and would still be detectable but I might be thinking of someone else
this game kinda feels like it fell out of an alternate timeline where we never stopped getting weird videogamey-ass videogames based on popular movies. The ~collectible~ shuttle toys in particular made me raise my eyebrows
I bet the constant tutorial pop-ups are designed to be as obstrusive as possible so the player will get frustated, make quippy remarks at their screen, which in turn makes it that much easier for the monsters to fnd you.
You'd think a can of WD40 would be the first thing you'd search for in a scenario like this, seeing as every door in this game thinks it's in a haunted house.😆
Splinter cell was the first game to do mouse scroll movement speed, its a very intuitive mechanic which should be in more games, at the moment Tarkov is the only one that pops in my head for modern iterations. Excited to see this game play out.
Is it me or does this game lack the ability to throw objects away to distract the monster? I swear there are a lot of cans i can just throw to make noise thats far from my positon 😂 and im pretty sure distracting enemies with throwables is stealth game 101 at this point
Why did they even do the tutorial run at the beginning if they were just going to plaster the whole screen with the same information again when you got into a real situation??
Great start! I'm working through the hospital section myself still! To respond to your comment of not knowing how long the game is, I heard this is going to be a 8-12 hour experience. Not bad tbh. I'm liking the game so far, having noise detection on is a good addition, or any game that uses your mic brings you a good challenge

@@sparshbansal6624 good for u then? Don’t see why you felt the need to blast me for my opinion
Aside from the abrupt tutorials the atmosphere in the hospital is pretty good so far I'm a fan
This game seems it was written by 40 year olds aimed at 16 year olds with a 25 year old chiming in with no, try this, style lines. Abysmal.
Trve black metal is recorded on a broken tape recorder in the coldest cave in Scandinavia. Dimmu Borgir reference is wild lol. Love it
I NEVER expected a black metal reference in this lmao. John's right, a LARGE percentage of Black metal fans are pretty insufferable. I'm not a big fan so I just listen to the few bands I like and ignore the fools lol.
For bands that avoid the whole "trve" shtick I'd recommend: Mare Cognitum, Panopticon, Alcest, DeathSpell Omega, and Dodecahedron.
Modern text lingo on what' appears to be written paper is so odd looking. I cant imagine someone writing a smiley face but side ways
I write regular smiley faces all the time :(
@@sphinyal8758 I said nothing about regular faces. I'm talking about text based smiley faces like with Semicolins
I don't think many other people have done this but I used to leave sideways smileys for my fiance on our shopping lists and stuff
This comment is incredible to me because I absolutely remember writing smileys like that when I was passing notes with my friends in middle school a decade and a half ago!
@@TzadkielsAutarchialEunuch huh, that's neat. Still weird to imagine imo
Never in my life have I been so entertained at a silent commentary of a guy just trying to creep around. Keep up the good work John lmao
It sucks that so many horror games especially feature these kind of effects that make them basically unplayable for people with photosensitive epilepsy
i dont even have epilepsy but i think its just super uncomfortable to look at and doesnt add anything
You should watch the last movie with Lupita Nyong'o, its really good, she nailed in the movie
I have a plan - Dutch probably
John can accept these teenage girls roleplaying as lesbian opera singers, but liking Blackmetal is TOO UNREALISTIC
It annoys me that every single door has a creaky hinge. Like, it should be a chance the door creaks, not literally every door.
Yup also the way to open a creaky door silently is to open them swiftly not slowly 😅
And how someone took the time to line up lots of empty cans in all the walkways so you can knock them over and die.
Like how they started yelling during a thunderstorm in the most recent movie. Bro any alien nearby will still here you!
First lines are wrong. Patches of white is piebald. Leucism would be fully white with blue or black eyes.
glad someone else noticed this!
is leucism like albino?
It's frustrating to see these people put a lot of effort on sound deadening but left many doors in the building unlubricated
I love the silent communication, John!
this game kinda feels like it fell out of an alternate timeline where we never stopped getting weird videogamey-ass videogames based on popular movies. The ~collectible~ shuttle toys in particular made me raise my eyebrows
I love the fact that even a lack of being able to make a sound can't restrict John's sass-levels 🤣
Omg!!! You had me holding my breath during this game lol
I bet the constant tutorial pop-ups are designed to be as obstrusive as possible so the player will get frustated, make quippy remarks at their screen, which in turn makes it that much easier for the monsters to fnd you.
I’ve been so psyched for this!! Can’t wait to watch my favorite RUclipsr play it 😊

This game looks really good! I didn't expect this video to be so funny haha John's face and silent animations were great! X"D
I really enjoyed this play through!Watching John’s expressions through the quiet parts was so funny 😂
God John... You should know WHATEVER you say... The wider metalheads will NOT be happy with you.
oh trust me I was very active in metal forums and chat rooms for years as a teenager, I know them well LOL
@@JohnTwolfe felt, lmfao! As always keep up the good work!
I’m so glad your SH2 playthrough isn’t finished yet. It’s been a highlight of my week! Even though you would say it’s too long 🤭
John, your video really cheered me up after a really stressful day. Loved seeing you play this game so far lmao
As a Martin, it was fun to watch me die.
As an Alex, I envy your fate
Welcome To the Game 2 flashback: John hiding in the pitch black shower, imitating Vincent while he takes his sweet ass time searching the apartment
Hey John, as an NFL fan, I appreciate that raiders joke.
the “wow! quick game” joke always gets me. never change
Lot of powerhouses behind this game, it looks really cool. im excited to watch!
I absolutely love when he does the being a snarky viewer impersonation
all the poor remains of the many asthmatic people lost to the monsters littered around the world, now yours to collect at leisure
my squeaky as chair wouldn't survive this game
Excellent timing! Just finished getting a tattoo and now time for this video and pizza
I don't know anyone who writes letters like that. The text reads like it was meant to be read from a device like a phone or something. Isn't it kinda jarring, having all the internet slang and acronyms on a handwritten paper letter? Why not just write the whole word if you're writing by hand?
Thank you John 😊 😊 😊 😊 life has been nuts and I'm catching up with all the recent uploads. Lol yeah i know it doesn't matter saying this but i appreciate you and I'm feeding the algorithm lol
As someone who always complains about horror games not having any build-up or story, man they overdone it here... 1h with nothing happening, they killed the game for me. Plus with monsters this aggressive and dangerous even a trained soldier would be at a disadvantage. Pregnant little woman with asthma? She would be dead in 10 min... I'm sorry even for a game standards this is ridiculous and emersion breaking.
John's mime prowess on full display here 😂
Love it lol definitely want more excited to see the whole series made of this!
It took me about 7 minutes to brush my teeth while watching this because I was afraid of brushing too loudly and would pause every time John paused or the microphone icon would flash onto the screen.
I think Mr. Twinkles could be a Black Metal fan's cat. It's more likely Mr. Twinkles than anything super dark. Metalheads are just the biggest softies in all reality.
I agree that regular metalheads would have a cat named Mr. Twinkles, but Black Metal musicians are built different and are an exception!
Fair point. I guess in my experience I don’t know a true black metal fan, just those that dabble.
What bothers me the most is that from what I can tell is that the couple has only been together for a month and he already got her pregnant? I mean I get there's probably not much else to do but he could have at least worn a condom or something??? Or like think about the consequences of his actions and about Alex's feelings???? Like, come on dude.
Not me brushing off my shoulders right b4 John did after getting that plane 😂 either i watch too many of your LPs or we have similar instincts lol
Im enjoying the mechanics of this a lot. I love the tension that opening things slowly and having a PC with asthma builds.
Getting your video notifications makes my day.😁
