What’s interesting is that Jack never had a dad in the original story, so if we assume that Wyatt was born AFTER Jack defeated the giant, that must mean the dad we see in Super Whys is not Jacks. That means Wyatt and Jack are potentially half brothers!

Not only does Wyatt have a brother who is Jack Beanstalk but he also has a sister name Baby Joy who turns into a giant whenever she has a tantrum! I’m a teacher and I tried to put on SuperWhy. Huge mistake because every second a student would pipe up, “I’m Wyatt.” “I’m Princess Pea!” “No I want to be Princess Pea!” “I’m Red.” (No one wanted to be the pig.) I finally had to turn it off because they weren’t even watching the show at that point smh
I loved this show. Princess pea was my favorite growing up! Her dress was peek fashion to me, I loved her voice, and I could not stop saying "peas and carrots carrots and peas" CONSTANTLY!
The only thing i remember about this show was that time an Indian antivirus made a bootleg version of Super Why as their mascot. They just straight up made his costume orange, replaced the SW logo with their own, and called him "proto"
It seems stupid to an adult, but I suspect Pig is intended to teach letter recognition and Princess Pea is supposed to teach phonics. Not that I think they did this perfectly, but I do suspect they're meant to be teaching different skills.
I don't think so but he definitely also gets the English effect when eating alphabet soup, like I commented on the Martha Speaks video "what if all talking pet dogs were the result of the magic cans of alphabet soup"
Super Why wasn't a huge part of my childhood, but it was there, like a parent that works so much that they're never in the house. They have no reason to go this hard on lore, just because it's kids show doesn't mean they can lay back on stuff like this, if anything, because it's for kids it should be encouraged.
It's quite an odd feeling I've reached the point that shows from MY childhood are being covered as "nostalgia". Normally it's Ed Edd and Eddy, Dexter's Lab, and the like; but here we have things like Rolie Polie Olie and now Super Why. Neat.
I remember making a joke theory about Once Upon a Time and Super Why take place in the same universe because they both have fairytale people living there and the main place is called Storybrooke. Not to mention, some of the fairytale characters acting strangely out of character.
@@ArnLPs Wyatt: "What's going on here? Why can't I change the story?" Henry: **clutching the Book** Mr. Gold: "It doesn't seem as though either you understand what's going on here, dearies. And Secondly, that price goes up _substantially_ when you're in a "Land Without Magic," like our little Storybrooke here. I imagine it still could since the in the universe of the animated segments, there’s a bit of lore stuff that’s only there and isn’t actually in the Kraft bros real life, namely stuff with the villains.
@@anthonyboodram608 as well as Avida's inventions with emphasis on the really weird way the creature power suits actually work and what stuff is actually getting transformed versus just them wearing suits (like the whale power). Oh my gosh, I remember being in third grade and getting _so_ upset when I realized Pea's powers were prioritized over Red's. idk, she was my favorite character and it sucked to see her get sidelined by my _second_ favorite
They kinda wrote themselves into a corner with her by having her word powers all require six instances of one-syllable rhymes. But yes, justice for WonderRed.
Oh my gosh I LITERALLY THOUGHT THE EXACT SAME THING!!! And when I was young I loved Red as a character so much that as a CHILD, I picked up the season 1 trend of "if Red has the problem, than she does NOTHING", the only exception being in "Dr Dolittle" I loved her so much that I feel like my parents would probably have to make me FORGET about her, because occasionally I'd ACTUALLY freak out if she was thrown to the side Looking back I feel like young me was like Nora from ICarly, obsessed to the point of wanting them in my life forever, I was a cringey stupid kid Red is still my favorite character to this day, but it's not as intense Edit: I do still defend her saying she deserves better though, and seeing this comment makes me feel like we could make a "Wonder Red Appreciation Club" #JusticeForWonderRed
No idea if anyone else talks about the Princess Pea and AlphaPig having similar powers problem in another comment, but the way I see it is this: Alpha Pig shows kids what the letters look like and where they're located, while Princess Pea teaches kids how letters are pronounced and how they sound. One helps kids when reading words and letters and identifying them when written, the other helps with words and letters spoken aloud, and being able to spell things they hear and pronounce things they read.
Not going to lie, I had a MASSIVE crush on Whyatt and wanted to be Princess Pea when I was kid. But from the heart, I couldn't read well so I actually really enjoyed this show. It helped me a lot as a kid.
The comment about the reused animation transformations being burned into your brain is so real. I haven't watched Super Why in YEARS but I used to be obsessed with it and as soon as you introduced each hero, I could hear the exact cadence of dialogue in my mind. It's been years and the power to help still sucks ass. Godspeed.
I NEED a Go Diego Go lore (just Diego, not Dora), like why tf do the main characters hate the puma so much yet they’re friends with the jaguars?? Poor guy probably never gets to eat because they’re always “rescuing” animals from him
Remembering that one comic where Diego is rescuing an animal from the puma and it literally goes "CHILD THANKS TO YOU I'M FUCKIN STARVING" and Diego is just flabbergasted
I feel like the The Frog Prince kinda makes sense in that context, considering how the Princess playing with a golden ball and the Frog giving it back to her is how the story starts... And there is a theme of the princess not wanting to share her shit in the rest of the story too.
@@genericname2747 I know, that is the version I grew up with. There are even other Versions, like the english one by Joseph Jacobs in which the Frog instead get's his head chopped of, but before that he also sings about how he wants that to happen.

4:22 To be honest when I first saw that show as a kid, whenever Mrs Presto said the rhyme I was like "What does vegetables have to do with the book shes pulling down with her wand?"
One thing I couldn't help but notice is in the Frog Prince episode, when they brought up the story "The princess and frog played jumping or wands" when Super Why suggested they do both, they were about to leave each other, which also wouldn't work since the sentence would also mean they can't do neither
Just to let you know, in the Captain Underpants lore, the universe was canonically created when a hamster and a pterodactyl sent a giant in a robotic pair of pants back in time and he blew up.

Fun Fact: There is a set of advertisements that have a knock off version of Super Why advertising an anti virus software called Protogent, and one of them is a rap which is the greatest thing to grace this earth
Man, I always look forward to lore videos every month. They never disappoint! I loved Super Why, but even when I was little I hated how they butchered Beauty and the Beast. I remember Belle being a total brat when the Beast kept trying to be her friend, yet he was still the one who had to apologize because…getting angry is worse than being a jerk to someone for mishaps that were out of their control. Wtf?
I watched this as a kid and I always found that the episodes covering the MCs' stories seemed like a special treat. I'm not sure why, they just felt more important
Another example of Super Why changing a fairytale story is The Boy who Cried Wolf (Season 1, Episode 7) it was where the boy who calling, "There's A Wolf! There's A Wolf!. The problem was he said he actually saw the Wolf, but every time nobody saw one but him. Then they made this party so people would see the wolf and the Super Story Answer was “trust”. In the original story, the boy was a shepherd who pretended that his sheep were being attacked by a wolf just to prank the people in his village. When they found out he was pranking them they said they would stop beveling him every time he called. But when one day a wolf did come, the boy cried out for the people but they didn't believe him cause they thought he was tricking them, so they never came. The OG Boy who cried wolf is about how lying is bad. Them changing in into trust made no sense to me, the boy who cried wolf could've been a good use IF the message was how lying has consequences. It could've been where Whyatt kept tricking his family about his sister talking as a prank to his family, which started to annoy them. They could've went into the Boy Who Cried Wolf and Whyatt could've learn how if he keeps lying they won't believe him because they would think he's playing a trick on them. (idk why I ranted on about it that much, I just thought about it when the topic was changing of fairy tales, lol)
While we're talking about Super Why, there's a lot of things I wanna mention. 1: I feel like Wonder Red got screwed over the worst. Mainly due to the fact that she gets to use her powers the least compared to the other four. Sucks too, because she has my favorite design out of all the Super Readers. 2: One person said the songs at the end are better than the ones in the actual show, and I strongly agree. Cause like, who remembers any of the songs in the show? Name me one song you remember from the show that's not at the end, I dare you. 3: Since she brought up season 3, did you know that Whyatt was voiced by Johnny Orlando before he was a famous singer? 4: One more thing about season 3. I know the animation wasn't all that great before, but it somehow got worse. 5: I don't like the way it uses the interactive style. It's probably not as bad as Dora (I haven't seen that show, so I can't say anything about how THEY use it) But the way Super Why uses it is kinda awkward. Though, I will give credit that this show has kids voices that respond to the characters.
For 5, you are right since Dora does it way worse than Super Why. Dora constantly asks and tells the viewers what to do multiple times and her voice gets louder each time she tells the viewer when they don’t respond.
Idk about 2 it's been a while since I've seen the show but I remember some song there that went smth like "Super Why!! Super Why!! He's the guy" and the lyrics are lost into oblivion from then on
Ok. After watching the video, I have a few comments / theories. 1. I’m guessing that time literally *FREEZES* when they go inside the book club. 2. I’m guessing that the Super Readers’ Styles don’t change cuz like you said, THEY’RE TOO POWERFUL. 3. WHYATT DIDNT HAVE TO GO INTO HIS OWN COMIC TO CHANGE THE STORY. HE COULD’VE EDITED HIS COMIC WITHOUT HIS POWERS. 4. I have no idea why Super Why was struggling to put a word into the sentence in that same episode. I mean, ITS HIS OWN COMIC. Edits: 5. I’m OSO (see what I did there, Athena?) surprised that in the origin episode, their parents were NOT surprised about their kids just wandering off, OR the big bad wolf attempting to blow down Storybook Village. 6. I’m wondering if their powers work without having to go into a book. If the origin story shows them getting their powers outside of a book, do they still work outside of a book? 7. I’m wondering if some of the books from Season 1 are just recorded events of past, or as shown in Cinderella, maybe even FUTURE EVENT PREDICTIONS. 8. In Season 3 Episode 9, when Whyatt’s sister shook a book, somehow, *THE WORDS FELL OUT.* I repeat, THE WORDS. FELL. OUT. WHERE DOES THAT MAKE SENSE IN CARTOON LOGIC!? And when Goldilocks tried to put them in, they were mixed up. And what’s even crazier, after Whyatt said that the book was mixed up, Pig said, and I quote, “I hate it when that happens.” HAS THIS HAPPENED WITH BOOKS BEFORE!? HOW IN THE WORLD WERE THEY FIXED BEFORE THE SUPER READERS GOT THEIR POWERS!?
I always thought of the 2D/ 3D characters as a handy visual cue to highlight the 'storybook' characters vs. the 'real' characters, for whatever worth either of those terms have in Super Why. Also, I have to love Super Why for making Princess Pea not only a badass magic princess, but also a POC, when I show this cartoon to kids, the girls always want to be Princess Pea more than Wonder Red.
I only seen season 1 and when I first found out about Woofster and the difference in animation I was like "WHAT THE FUCK 😠, WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS 😡, NO, THIS ISN'T THE SUPER WHY I KNOW AND LOVE 🤬"
This was the first toddler show i was a stickler for the lore on cause the characters are based on well known stuff. Yes, i was just a bit too old for it even when it was new, but it was on before i had to catch the bus, and it had that "fairy tales/nursery rhymes as heroes" hook. Plus it turned riding hood into a roller blading tomboy, which was my jam since i was aware of my own sentience.
If you're getting that confused with these fairy tales then think about Ever After High. I mean thw story itself invites you to think about the logistics of repeating the story but not how long and intertwined the stories are. Like with the three little pigs they don't think that the current Snow White and Cinderella are probably killed in a ritualistic manner in order to not break the story and how Cinderella is constantly demoted from her position as a crown princess Edit: Princess Pea was my everything as a little black girl obsessed with princesses. She was before Tiana so she was all I had
5:23 “…and Super Why, with the power to read!” If reading is a superpower, does that mean everyone else is illiterate?! In STORYBOOK village? Which is in a LIBRARY?
I'm so happy I'm not the only one who hated when Wyatt calls his friends while they're standing NEXT TO HIM, and never followed him to the book club >:( I hated that so much when i was little.
My sisters found out I was a fan of yours, so every day this week they asked me “ARE YOU EXCITED FOR SUPERWHY LORE!!” And every time I went “YESSS!!” (My older sister wanted me to send it to her, too. I thought I should clarify they seemed just as excited as me)
I feel your pain. I'm 27 and teach Preschool, and the kids ask me all the time what I want to be when I grow up, and it always low-key sends me into a downward spiral of existential dread. Btw, love your channel, glad to see another adult who takes these shows so seriously and asks the important questions.

Now this was my entire childhood! My favorite episode was the one when they jumped into Red's story, cause she looked so done throughout all of it. I only watched Season 1, when my little sister started watching during S2 I was like "Who is this dog, why is it talking, how dare you mess with the main cast," With animation like that I'm glad I ignored S3 entirely. I'm actually rewatching the series and to be honest other than a couple of episodes I'll ignore those seasons entirely
Core childhood memory of being annoyed at the show's structure unlocked. Like, why was Whyatt always the one to save the day? I also really wanted a touch screen slide phone like his when I was a kid and honestly still kind of do
I've always wondered how the original show was because I grew up with the french version where they teach kids english spelling and grammar. Now realizing that the translators made a totally different approach of the show just because they were lazy to reanimate the letters and all is beyond me, like I don't know if they're geniuses or complete procrastinators.

princess pea sounds like a name for a parody character of princess peach. never realized that as a kid. literally could not remember what this show was for years until a saw a dvd of the show in Walmart or something lol
When I first started watching the show I was in purgatory seeing the episode "The Big Game", OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND SO ON I GOT SICK OF IT But I recently decided to give it another watch since it's been long enough and I understand why I didn't get annoyed until like the 6th time
I remember the episode about Hansel and Gretel where it got the story wrong. In the episode the witch is upset that the kids were eating her house and wouldnt let them in. Thats not the problem in any version of the story, the problem was that the witch wanted to eat the kids! And then at the end they have the witch let them in, which is bad!
Super Why is a literal toddler show. Nothing wrong with toddler shows but you wouldn't have the true story in a toddler show. If it were for kids over 6, it could. But that ain't Super Why lol
Omg, that makes sense-- I guess if someone ripped apart a book (3 Little Pigs, Princess and the Pea, Little Red Riding Hood), the Super Readers could be erased.
This show stuck with me because it was what me and my youngest brother bonded over when we were younger. And the songs were catchy. Def glad I waited for this one
I'm ready for the ramblings!! I'm ready to hear about who's got the power- the power to read! Amazing video as always, I remember my little brother making me watch this with him.
This show has to be the most nostalgic for me. Also I think I have watched Creative Galaxy a super long time ago because I don’t exactly remember it but I definitely recognize the alien baby and the little purple creature.
This makes me think of D20 Neverafter, a DnD show where all the characters from different stories learn how their stories interact and what they can do to rewrite their own tales. Even down to paper vs “real” and time-loop shenanigans
(22:16) I should use that terminology about wind blowing out of one's nose! I somehow never thought of that before even though that's a common way to react to a joke and even though it contrasts laughing.
i dunno if there's a lot of Lore for this show, i feel like there'd be some cool stuff, but one of my favorite pbs kids shows when i was younger was called "between the lions" and it was also about reading, i think it'd be a cool thing to cover
I love how some of the more common comments involve people saying how much they HATED this show as a kid, wanting Justice for Red, and talking about either their former or current crushes on Jack.
This is amazing stuff. Now I really wish I could see such a video on Dora. And Wonderpets. And Team Umizoomi. There is just so much potential for content like this.
Agreed, Team OomiZoomi has so many holes in it, why are they tiny, why are they animated, why is every animal animated no matter what, why does the car have a face
Whenever the characters did their super hero transformation and it was "your" turn my older brother (who was like in High School at the time, I was in like Middle School) would do fun hero poses.
When I first started watching the show on Netflix or something, it kept throwing the same episode at me (the episode was The Big Game), it eventually got to the point where if I was watching Super Why on there, and that episode showed up, I'd go watch The Care Bears Movie 2 instead
To me the multiple stories thing is more like a multiverse, when they go to the future or go back in time they’re actually traveling to a parallel universe. Beings like the tooth fairy seem to exist simultaneously in multiple realities at once.
12:10 My hypothesis is that the storybook 2D characters are "clones" in the sense that they are a second version of a person that exists at the same time, I believe that they are psychically linked to their 3D counterparts, but the memories that the 3D characters gain are more like remembering a dream which is why the Tooth Fairy needed a note to remind her. I think that while the 2D clones have free will, they still share the same soul and identity as their 3D counterparts, which is why they use I/Me pronouns and "merge" when they're in the same place at the same time

When Hamilton was asking "Who lives, Who dies, Who tells your story" I'm pretty certain he is talking about Super Why
I got an answer to 2. I remember Red's rhyming song and Alpha Pig's ABC song. Also the Super Readers to the Rescue
For 1, I agree, Red in my opinion is the best character and it feels like the writers HATE her sometimes
Super Why!! He's the guy" and the lyrics are lost into oblivion from then on
RED IS AN ICON AND SHES THE ONLY CHARACTER (aside from Whyatt) TO HAVE BEEN AROUND SINCE THE BEGINNING (at least she’s second in command)
Edits:
On #8 perhaps the words getting mixed up in the book are a consequence of the powers.
Book repair stores. They’ve got people taking the words out of the book and rearranging them.
What if the 3 little pigs are a dynasty
The utter restraint it must have taken to not mention Protogent at any point.
I guess I'm not a normal girl than because Red is my favorite

This was the first toddler show i was a stickler for the lore on cause the characters are based on well known stuff. Yes, i was just a bit too old for it even when it was new, but it was on before i had to catch the bus, and it had that "fairy tales/nursery rhymes as heroes" hook. Plus it turned riding hood into a roller blading tomboy, which was my jam since i was aware of my own sentience.
Roller Rink Red ftw
If you're getting that confused with these fairy tales then think about Ever After High. I mean thw story itself invites you to think about the logistics of repeating the story but not how long and intertwined the stories are. Like with the three little pigs they don't think that the current Snow White and Cinderella are probably killed in a ritualistic manner in order to not break the story and how Cinderella is constantly demoted from her position as a crown princess
Edit: Princess Pea was my everything as a little black girl obsessed with princesses. She was before Tiana so she was all I had

When I first started watching the show I was in purgatory seeing the episode "The Big Game", OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND SO ON I GOT SICK OF IT
But I recently decided to give it another watch since it's been long enough and I understand why I didn't get annoyed until like the 6th time
I remember the episode about Hansel and Gretel where it got the story wrong. In the episode the witch is upset that the kids were eating her house and wouldnt let them in. Thats not the problem in any version of the story, the problem was that the witch wanted to eat the kids! And then at the end they have the witch let them in, which is bad!
That is true but I doubt PBS Kids would allow the true version of the wicked witch who wanted to fatten them up and eat them
Super Why is a literal toddler show. Nothing wrong with toddler shows but you wouldn't have the true story in a toddler show. If it were for kids over 6, it could. But that ain't Super Why lol
@@cridly I knew what the normal version was though as a little kid, and I'm sure lots of other kids did too
@@Shadamyfan-rs8xc Same as me. But a 5 year old is different from a 3 year old so there's that lol
That picture of Woofster holding the dictionary got me 😂. I think he jumped a kid for the powers and we're just an unfortunate witness.
Even as a kid, I hated Wyatts family, I wanted their books to torn to shreds
Wait, what would happen if a book got disassembled
What if someone ripped apart the Little Red Riding Hood book, would Red be Thanos snapped away 😨
Wait, what would happen if a book got disassembled

Omg, that makes sense--
I guess if someone ripped apart a book (3 Little Pigs, Princess and the Pea, Little Red Riding Hood), the Super Readers could be erased.
Agreed, Team OomiZoomi has so many holes in it, why are they tiny, why are they animated, why is every animal animated no matter what, why does the car have a face
and how does that Door Mouse or whatever work.
there is an Wonderpets Lore video coming out this month
Whenever the characters did their super hero transformation and it was "your" turn my older brother (who was like in High School at the time, I was in like Middle School) would do fun hero poses.
5:18 THANK YOUUUU ive been thinking this for YEARS
I watched 'Super Why' so many times I got sick of it even as a child LOL this video is so fun
This show came out when I was five and I hated it because of how formulaic and repetitive it was, but I still watched it anyways.
I think that while the 2D clones have free will, they still share the same soul and identity as their 3D counterparts, which is why they use I/Me pronouns and "merge" when they're in the same place at the same time
I have had "peas and carrots, carrots and peas, book come out, please please please" playing on loop in my head for eleven years and i think this is the source of most of my problems
