Sheen totally has ADHD. Libby literally asks him at one point “Sheen, did you take your medicine this morning?” after he started ranting about pets. And he has a ton of symptoms
With regards to Ms. Fowl's age, in "How to Sink a Sub" she says she's been teaching for 74 years. Since the episode came out in 2006, that means she's been teaching since 1932 and, assuming she got a degree from a 4-year college and started teaching immediately after (kind of a stretch since it was the height of the Great Depression, but it makes more sense that a person with a bachelor's degree would get a teaching job right away rather than a high-school graduate or someone with an associate's degree) she'd be 96, and born in 1910. Thus, she would've been 18 in 1928, allowing her to dance with Calvin Coolidge when he was still president and, in "Make Room for Daddy-O" she says she can remember the 1st Father's Day Folly. The episode came out in 2003, and it was the 82nd Father's Day Folly, meaning it would've first been held in 1921, when Ms. Fowl was 11 like the main cast is. It all makes perfect sense. Also there's a one-off line in "Journey to the Center of Carl" when she says "teaching is the only thing keeping me alive", sounds like an exaggeration, but based on her age, and how often very elderly people like routine, it may not be that exaggerated.
A little detail I liked is how it was implied that Jimmy's mom was even smarter than he was. He mentioned he was having trouble with that episode's invention and she offhandedly gave a very technical solution to it
Which confirms that being a genius is a recessive gene in this world This implies Judy has two recessive and thus there was a 75 out of 100 chance that Jimmy would be a genius (genes are way more complicated but we don't need to delve into them).the world said that he would likely be a little shit and that's just funny
@@LycanMOON if she has two and huge has 1 assuming just regular recessiveness it’s be 50% not 75? (And he’d definitely be a carrier) as the possible results are 50% Xx or 50% xx assuming xx means genius
That would have made a great subplot, like akin to parry the platypus where behind the scenes judy is some kind of government agent making adult level crazy inventions, going off to fight around the world in her own adventures, and coming back home in time to put the meatloaf in the oven and turn on her secret cleaning machine
You don’t know how SEEN I felt with Sheen. Being a kid who hyper fixated on random bullshit and who struggled with school and paying attention and had a habit of being loud and having no self awareness, it hit too close to home. Also, in Jimmy’s defense, while he’s a little shit, he is only smart academically and still has the emotional maturity and impulses of a regular child. Kids tend to be selfish and shortsighted, and Jimmy’s maturity has been heavily altered by his higher-than-average intelligence. This is why his inventions are all stuff a KID would want, like traveling bubblegum, rockets, and ice cream machines. His ideology of “everything will be okay in the end because I can just fix it” is seemingly based in the fact that, every time something goes wrong, he CAN eventually fix it. Therefore he sees his malfunctioning inventions as momentary disruptions and wrongly perceived that it’s the same way for everyone else, and therefore doesn’t see an issue with indulging in selfishness because he never has to deal with the long lasting consequences of his inventions. That’s not an excuse, but just an interpretation. It almost reminds me of Goliad from Adventure Time. Her sense of morality was heavily warped by her vast power and lack of empathy and comprehension of other people.
Yeah that's the thing about gifted kids, they're still kids. They can be very intelligent but still immature and often an unfortunate consequence of their intelligence is being privy to information or given privileges that would normally be deemed inappropriate for a child. Ultimately in adulthood this leads to a variety of social and emotional issues Edited to add: young children are, to some extent kind of sociopathic and anti social, it takes time for them to develop empathy and the ability to foresee consequences to their actions. They also often don't understand the permanence of death, if you've ever dealt with a grieving child they often ask when the deceased will come back or they can see them again
@@gregjayonnaise8314 I did loathe it as well, but there just wasn’t any of my other shows on, and it just played constantly. I’d still consider it tv rot, tho it was one of the rare shows I was able to keep up with for some reason.
this point reminds me of Joey Dixon from Better Call Saul. yeah he's a total piece of shit, he does excellent camera work for Jimmy and all of the commercials and videos he shoots achieve the goals Jimmy needed. In a weird way, it's justified for someone to be an asshole if they always deliver the top quality product they promise you, whether that be a good commercial or a complete nullification of a long term global scale problem
My favorite fan theory is actually about that episode where Jimmy and Cindy swap bodies. There's a joke about a the last trait they're sorting. "Dislikes boys who dislike girls who dislike show-offy boys..." or something like that. It's got a long name and they just want things over with, so they throw it away. Coincidentally, after this, the Jimmy and Cindy romance really starts to kick into gear. (Supposedly. i haven't verified this.) But the theory is that this trait, whoever it belonged to, is the main thing that was preventing them from getting together, and it's literally been deleted from existence.
Come to think of it, I wonder if that bit was a reference to the songs "Girls & Boys" by Blur. "Girls who want boys Who like boys to be girls Who do boys like they're girls Who do girls like they're boys"
That clearly was Cindy's, because if "Dislikes boys who dislike girls who dislike show-off boys" means Boys as in Jimmy and Girls as in Cindy it would be "Dislikes Jimmy because he dislikes Cindy, because she dislikes Jimmy for being Show-offy" so Jimmy doesn't like her because she doesn't like him for being a show-off, and she doesn't like him because of that, kinda complicated but that's what I take from that Basically a paradox loop or something 😂
Wait, I’m almost certain they explained this in an episode. Or maybe kid-me thought someone in the house being allergic to dogs was the obvious answer, especially since I was an ‘inventor’ back then and allergic to dogs too
Did anyone else feel like super depressed when Jimmy froze his clones? Like, the one droopy clone saying "I always knew this is how it would end." Jimmy, this is literal murder!
Jimmy Neutron just seems to be one of those shows where some scene or another gets stuck in your head for the rest of your life. Mine is the time Jimmy turned the neighborhood into a frigid winter hellscape and his dad and the other neighborhood dads immediately decide they need to go on a caribou hunt to provide meat for the family. their little 'caribou hunt hunt!' chant lives in my brain rent-free to this day
The great part about this seen is it somehow helped me get a trivia question right where the answer was caribou. Sang that scene in my head to remember the name of that animal.
the scene that's stuck in my head is that montage (???is that an accurate noun???) of all the kids in the neighborhood having the cold patches jimmy invented melt into their wrists giving them permanent colds.
From what I read, Jimmy Neutron's own creators barely know what happened. Time constraints were insane, especially for how advanced the animation was for the time. From the animators & writers' perspective, it was all one big fever dream where they hadn't slept in 3 days and were only running on red bell (this is an exaggeration but you get the idea). They knew there were plot holes and animations errors, they just gave no fucks and slapped it out as fast as possible. So it honestly makes sense for so many inconsistencies
@@ABoyNamedCharlotte I saw a comment on a Tumblr post claiming that their college professor was a part of the animation team and said that's how it was. I think that's legit the only source of that claim.
It does make sense considering how some of the episodes went (like the one where Carl was impregnated by an alien, something that is one of the weirdest childhood memories I have looking back at it). 0_0
7:53 The most terrifying part about Poultra is that she's just a _Baby,_ and she's like, five stories tall! Could you imagine how big she would be as an _adult?!_

As someone who writes fanfic for the Nicktoons Unite series I can confirm it’s really fun to just mesh these characters from different shows and see what random relationships can build. Nick characters just have that vibe.
@@fakeemail6815 Fun fact! GIR, ZIM, and Dib were all playable characters in the series. GIR was an unlockable character in Attack of The Toybots. ZIM and Dib were in the last game in the series Globs of Doom. ZIM was with the heroes of Jimmy, Danny, SpongeBob and Tak stating he wasn’t evil, just curious. Dib went over to the villains side with Beautiful Gorgeous, Technus, Plankton, and Tlaloc stating that if ZIM was over there then he would be over here.
@@robcartre5779 it’s called Nicktoons: Syndicate Rising on AO3. It’s sorta on hiatus right now as life is very busy but there is a planned ending for it.
@thelocalpot8to He would have to get jaundice from some offscreen experiment that made him have to hide out in the isles. Like you do when you’re crazy!
Jimmy Neutron has really cool subtle continuity sometimes. Libby changing her hairstyle to match her ancestor after the mummy temple episode was a nice touch.
Fun fact about me: I am still terrified of giving restaurants bad reviews because of that episode where the diner melts down all the other restaurants since Hugh kept talking about taco shack. Yes I am 26. No I don't get it either
And to think, Jimmy only created that AI restaurant because Skeet, the manager, didn't indulge his superiority complex and, in fact, actually called him out on it a bit.
In defense of the streaming platforms, they all seem to place Jimmy Neutron in official "airing order." It's not their fault if Nickelodeon decided to create a ton of plot holes from day one.
What's odd about Cindy's designs is that a lot of the Jimmy Neutron games used her film design even though most of them came out well after the show's premiere.
They did use her show design recently in nickelodeon kart racers 3: slime speedway. I guess nickelodeon and thq were just big fans of her film design lol.
She's no longer limited to education shows, she's too powerful, what's next? animaniacs lore?, Kim possible lore?, GRIM ADVENTURES OF BILLY AND MANDY LORE? (In all seriousness I love you and your videos).
I didn't realize how much of an effect Jimmy Neutron had on my subconscious. I legitimately say "Brain blast!" All the time, completely unironically, and had utterly forgotten that it came from this show. I thought I came up with it!
I haven’t seen or thought about Jimmy Neutron in more than a decade, and being reminded that Jimmy basically had an equivalent of that’s so Raven having a vision (brain blast) was truly a shock. Also, did you know that the voice of Jimmy Neutron is also the voice of Draculaura in the original Monster High.
Yes!! Debi Derryberry is an amazing voicr actor! She also voiced Clay, who was the face of Playhouse Disney before Ooh and Aah. Also, Ooh and Aah were created and voiced by the same person who created and voiced Mr. Meaty.
@@tipjrjr326 if you don't know what monster high is, you are probably too young to be on youtube. like your only excuse here is that you don't live in america
If I remember correctly with the Cindy and Jimmy body swap episode, that's when the crushing and romance with them started. I can't remember what the thought was, but Libbie, Sheen, and Carl deleted that one, not giving that trait to either of them, and I think that's when it starts becoming a bit more obvious of their feelings towards each other
not only that, but while their brains were merged together in the tube or whatever, they both had intrusive thoughts of the two of them kissing (for some reason), with neither of them confirming which one of them it was that was thinking that (though i think it was Cindy), and so that was also definitely the catalyst where BOTH of them started thinking about each other _that way._
jimmy neutron actually was visually incredible considering where the standard for 3D animated shows was at that time, but I've read that also made it incredibly expensive. This may have been another factor in addition to ant bully as to why the show didn't continue, and is also why you'll see so many reused assets when they think they can get away with it (ie: the lima bean monsters in space. its likely their model info was stored with other alien species for some reason and that the crew in charge of populating the audience forgot). Unfortunately due to Planet Sheen being an utter failure in every way, I fear for Jimmy's chances of ever coming back, even though planet sheen fully failed to grasp what made jimmy neutron great in the first place
One of the big things about Jimmy Neutron is that the show and movie were both done on commercially available software that the average person could buy
@@jorymo4964 many tools and software used in professional animation (specifically programs used in adult animation) are publicly available and have been for a while. the cost and time of 3D development was still high enough to prevent standard usage across the board (even shows like family guy can be seen using models to cut corners these days, but that wasn’t as feasible at the time). This is something I’ve definitely read about from people who worked on the show, I’ll have to see about digging up sources on it later as I’m not able to now
Poultra is a reference to Mothra from the original Japanese Godzilla franchise. Egg looks the same and Mothra is reborn everytime she dies. Also, she's seen as a god like Poultra.
3 things 1. My family calls my lil bro neutron because of his unnaturally large head 2. After dinosaur train lore could you do let's go Luna lore 3. Why is Jimmy's head like that 4. Why is Jimmy's head like that
Since we're going outside of edutainment and the like for these lore videos, I would honestly love to see a video like this for Kids Next Door. That show had some genuine worldbuilding and weird concepts I think would be fun for a deep dive.
37:28 Jimmy: “Carl I don’t know how to say this, so I’ll whisper it in Sheen’s ear and he’ll blurt it out in astonishment.” Jimmy: *whispering* Sheen: “CARL IS PREGNANT?!” Carl: “WHA-“
This episode is one that I completely forgot about (probably because it freaked me out as a kid), but as soon as it was mentioned in the episode, it came flooding back very vividly. I distinctly remember this line 😂
Random thought but I feel like Athena would at the very least like TMNT in the parts where they acknowledge the other reboots as different dimensions from their own, and have crossovers between them. (Happened at least once in the 2012 version)
Honestly would love to see her cover any cartoon iteration of tmnt. The core concept is so wacky but is pretty much always done well in a way I think she'd enjoy.
The first crossover was in 2009 with the Turtles Forever movie. Shredder kidnaps the 1987 turtles (also kidnaps the 1987 Shredder and Krang), and the 2003 turtles have to rescue them. That Shredder later on shows them this huge screen with pictures and videos of every single version of TMNT that existed until 2009, including the 2007 movie, the 1990s live action trilogy, the original Mirage run, the Usagi Yojimbo crossovers, etc.
legitimately, the whole thing with the evil earth clone freaked me out so bad as a child lmao. i distinctly remember being afraid of that actually happening somehow
Literally nothing would make me happier than Jimmy Neutron finally getting its fourth and final season. The show was so well-made, smart, funny, heartfelt, clever, imaginative, intense, and epic, and it STILL doesn't get the appreciation and love that it deserves. It's just been used for memes and random nostalgia for kids of the early-2000s like me, but there's SO MUCH more substance there than people realize. If the Hey Arnold fans can get their long-awaited closure with The Jungle Movie, then the Jimmy Neutron fans can get their even longer-awaited closure with season 4. GET ON IT, NICKELODEON/PARAMOUNT/VIACOM!
So when she talked about character’s singing that just brought me back to “Carl Makes A Lofi EP” and “Sheen Make An Emo Rap” which are both amazing pieces of music that you should go watch now.
Jon Lovitz was a cast member on Saturday Night Live in the late 80s. He's done a lot of voice work and guest appearances on sitcoms. He was the voice of Radio in The Brave Little Toaster.
Not only did they air Power Hour 2 out of order, they aired a lot of Season 3 either out of order or very late. League of Villains aired before the introduction of some of the villains. Even as a kid it was confusing.

Just wanna say that this video single-handedly dragged me into the Nicktoons Unite fandom. I’d never heard of the games or anything so was really curious, and well… I ended up on A03- It’s hilarious to me because I never had any interest in any of the individual shows, but I was genuinely very invested in this video and now Nicktoons Unite has taken over my life I'm also onboard with the JimmyTimmy ship. Thank you Athena I've spent 15 years periodically trying to stop "AIN'T NO LOVIN' MY MAAAN, SHOO-WHOP, SHOO-WHOP!" playing on loop in my brain and now it's back.
One bit of lore I found interesting was that Jimmy’s level of intelligence isn’t unique to him and some of his villains. In one episode, Jimmy gets to skip straight to college, and when he gets there, none of the other students are even remotely impressed by him. When he starts showing off his jetpack, he’s shown that all of the students have jetpacks, and his actually looks shoddier than all of theirs. There are apparently people just as smart as Jimmy all over the world, he’s just the only genius in Retroville.
I completely forgot about the peeing duck toy until you mentioned it then I remembered it very clearly. It was hiding in the recessives of my mind, and you have dug it up.
0:07 pluto wasn't reclassified as a dwarf planet until 2006 so pluto was still classified as a planet when jimmy neutron was airing (2002-2006) so... did jimmy predict that pluto would be demoted???????
Jimmy Neutron is one of those shows that are timeless. I love watching this wonderful show. Thanks for pointing out these lore elements. Also, just be careful not to make Jimmy mad anymore
46:22 I’m genuinely happy the nicktoons unite fanart was mentioned in your video. Battle for volcano island was my most played games on my ps2 so it makes me love the fan comics even more. Izbubbles and Choraa_’s nicktoon unite comics really highlight the chemistry with the characters and it makes me wished we had another nicktoons unite game with that amount of character interaction. Awesome video!
This video made me realize, it's not that I didn't watch Jimmy neutron that caused me not to remember much of this show. I'm 100% sure my brain locked away my memories of watching this show because it was so traumatic. Literally seeing and hearing about these episodes completely unlocked each of my locked away memories of these.
There's something you may have missed with Trading Faces: It never says if the initial switch is just memories or actual consciousness. If it's the latter, that means for the rest of the series technically a guy and a girl got stuck in each others' bodies and brainwashed themselves to cope with it.
I never saw this show because I wasn't allowed to watch nickelodeon as a child but honestly it seems like it would've been right up my alley. It looks absolutely bonkers. Love your videos!!
Yesss so happy you dove into this show fully. I also really appreciated that some of the characters got updated designs, it’s something that feels so obvious as a way to show either passage of time or character growth, and yet happens far less often than you’d imagine. Some of the inventions were very cool yet also terrifying if you considered the implications. You’re so right that everyone had a power trip. I absolutely loved Trading Faces specifically for the scene of Carl, Sheen, and Libby trying to reassign character traits to Jimmy and Cindy and then just giving up and choosing randomly. Really giving us another example of how fickle the friendships of ten year olds are. Also Win, Lose, Kaboom for being a fun parody of reality tv! I remember watching the movie in theaters and to this day I still absolutely love the camera tracking when Jimmy is bouncing around in his bubble, it made me feel like I was bouncing too and I love that.
Absolutely magnificent job on the outfit and makeup for this video! You put so much work and dedication into your analysis of these cartoons and are amazingly funny in your reaction content, book reviews, AND shorts! The doppelgänger situation and the character model who stuck around even after moving to another school, plus the animation errors can be explained very easily: Blackouts. They pumped out as much work as they could but studio blackouts would halt it. They would cut corners by reusing models and letting quality assurance fall to the wayside. I think they may have been slightly underpaid as well, but I don’t want to spread rumors.
You have no idea how hard I nodded when you called Sheen and Libby the superior ship. We don't get a lot of focus on them, but they really are sweet together.
I remember 6yo me in the theater on an emotional roller coaster being in love with Jimmy, then crying scared at Poultra, and then the end when he grows giant just stuck in my head for years and I never could explain why lol
I was obsessed with this show as a kid, but weirdly enough I don't actually remember that much from it. Excited to see what weird shit went over my head

I rewatch this from time to time and always forget the NU section. WHICH IS HILARIOUS BECAUSE THIS VIDEO ALWAYS GETS RECOMMENDED TO ME WHEN I GET BACK IN THE NU FANDOM. Anyways, gotta love the fandom that game spawned. It's so fun to simply have these characters interact. Honestly much better than a lot of shows I've seen.
See, the third Jimmy Timmy power hour movie had permanent effects on my interests with the idea of Shirly (The villain) making his own dimension and just taking the people and areas from other dimensions and placing them into his own. That's an idea that has stuck with me for almost 2 decades now and is something I love to think about with various games and anime universes.
It's so refreshing to see someone mention an obscure fandom phenomenon like the Nicktoons Unite thing and celebrating the love and creativity behind it instead of immediately going "Ewwww cringe"! You've gotten a new subcriber just for that, Athena!
I’m so glad you found the Nicktoons Unite fandom, I stumbled upon it recently and it’s literally became one of my favorite fandoms I’ve ever encountered. Plus I’ve always been a sucker for crossover fan work anyways.
Absolutely love Athena's reviews so I thought I'd recommend a pair of shows for her to check out 1. Just add magic: Cooking, and magic, two of my favorite things, and it beautifly ties cg and live acting, the plot is amazing (also on Amazon prime)
Stellar review! This and SpongeBob were two of the biggest shows from my childhood that weren't exclusively forgotten and for preschoolers (a couple of which you've covered). A show I would highly recommend for a future deep dive would be pre-2015 Bob the Builder. Everyone knows it but rarely talks about it. There's quite a lot of details from that show that are quite fascinating, like did you know Bob tried to teach Eminem how to use a chainsaw?

This video just reminds me of the meme of Skeet claps back. Where skeet just destroys Jimmy's social understanding of the world and just talks to him like an adult.
9:09 I like to think that Poltra is more akin to Cthulhu in those regards, a being that can control the universe but has the soul goal of overtaking it, so it was locked away and has to be given a sacrifice every so often in order to keep it contained or it’ll destroy anyone and everyone it sees fit
Nick Toons Unite!!!! I LOVE that collab! The fanart of everybody together, including the extended B-Team, is wonderful! I was thrilled to see you give them an enthusiastic shoutout!!
I love the musical references. "I Dream of Carl" sounds like "I Dream of Genie" tv theme for example. "Beach Party Mummy" sounds like a mash up of every tune by the Beach Boys and Cindy dances just like Annette Funicello. "Raise the Oozy Scab" sounds like "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea". Thanks for sharing this.
The Hypno-Ray and reoccurring of hypnosis in the show needed more attention in this. Since it was a great way to have the most grounded character (Judy Neutron) be wilder than Hugh without falling to just making two airheads, instead to put her in a different mindset with hypnosis (best running gag ever), Or how the hypno-ray is apparently the strongest thing in the universe it can totally rewrite your mind and cross universes as seen in that trident ad and is just as powerful on nonNeutronverse humans. Then is there that Granny Tater episode!
I can't wait for Athena to eventually cover the fairly OddParents. The massive Tesla coil is odd, but it is nothing compared to the Hall of infamy. I don't know this for sure, but I think one of the kids started WWI. How many other Fairys have carnage on that scale?

Ultimately in adulthood this leads to a variety of social and emotional issues
Edited to add: young children are, to some extent kind of sociopathic and anti social, it takes time for them to develop empathy and the ability to foresee consequences to their actions. They also often don't understand the permanence of death, if you've ever dealt with a grieving child they often ask when the deceased will come back or they can see them again
Even tho I really disliked butt comedy, I was glued to watching planet sheen.
@@crayonburry funnily enough, I loathed Planet Sheen, but it’s probably because he never mentioned Ultra Lord, not even ONCE

"Girls who want boys
Who like boys to be girls
Who do boys like they're girls
Who do girls like they're boys"
@@jorymo4964 So, the song implies that girls like gay boys?
It’s also possible some of their traits got mixed up
@@jorymo4964 Always should be someone you really love
That clearly was Cindy's, because if "Dislikes boys who dislike girls who dislike show-off boys" means Boys as in Jimmy and Girls as in Cindy it would be "Dislikes Jimmy because he dislikes Cindy, because she dislikes Jimmy for being Show-offy" so Jimmy doesn't like her because she doesn't like him for being a show-off, and she doesn't like him because of that, kinda complicated but that's what I take from that
Basically a paradox loop or something 😂
Headcannon: Jimmy made a robot dog because his parents wouldn't let him get a real dog
Definitely.
Wait, I’m almost certain they explained this in an episode. Or maybe kid-me thought someone in the house being allergic to dogs was the obvious answer, especially since I was an ‘inventor’ back then and allergic to dogs too

Huck cluck cluck yeah! Huck cluck cluck yeah! Ooooo caribou!
you just unearthed something deep and primordial in my brain
"oooooOOOOO CARIBOU!!
CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK

Every year my family watches the polar express. And every year I think of that episode
So it honestly makes sense for so many inconsistencies
weird question, but where did you read this? I'm way too invested in Jimmy Neutron and was trying to verify these types of claims

If I remember correctly with the Cindy and Jimmy body swap episode, that's when the crushing and romance with them started. @@sdg131 oh yeah, that’s definitely the thought that was deleted.
not only that, but while their brains were merged together in the tube or whatever, they both had intrusive thoughts of the two of them kissing (for some reason), with neither of them confirming which one of them it was that was thinking that (though i think it was Cindy), and so that was also definitely the catalyst where BOTH of them started thinking about each other _that way._
The part of the movie where they’re riding the theme park rides through space was so fricking cool to me
jimmy neutron actually was visually incredible considering where the standard for 3D animated shows was at that time, but I've read that also made it incredibly expensive.
One of the big things about Jimmy Neutron is that the show and movie were both done on commercially available software that the average person could buy
nah it looks like shit
@@jorymo4964 many tools and software used in professional animation (specifically programs used in adult animation) are publicly available and have been for a while. the cost and time of 3D development was still high enough to prevent standard usage across the board (even shows like family guy can be seen using models to cut corners these days, but that wasn’t as feasible at the time).

That Shredder later on shows them this huge screen with pictures and videos of every single version of TMNT that existed until 2009, including the 2007 movie, the 1990s live action trilogy, the original Mirage run, the Usagi Yojimbo crossovers, etc.

Somehow that makes him even more relatable because once I got to college I felt stupid by comparison too.

I didn't watch much of this series even though it looks very fun, so I'm glad that you made a lore video about it.
