You saved my printer today, with the last 10 seconds of your video. Cover was not properly closed, causing issuse scanning double sided. Once I closed it properly, it fixed the issues. Thank you!

Hallelujah! It was such a simple fix. A nut had fallen inside the scanner feeder. Not sure where that nut came from, but all the HP Support articles never once mentioned opening the scanner feeder. I had no idea it could be opened so simply. Thank you! You saved me from having to run out and purchase a new printer.

I had 2 little grey rubber bands fall out from the ADF unit area after blowing out with compressed air and I'm not able to find what they are or if they're important. Any idea on what those could go to? They were old like when a rubber band just cracks and is old. I know I'm having problems grabbing paper after losing those.

I tried this and my document feeder is still not working. I also tried a hard reset. I keep getting a message that says "Job canceled...Scanner lid or document feeder open" when I try to copy using the doc feeder. But, nothing is open. Do you know how I might fix this problem?

  • @lauraelliott7441

Well, my HP OfficeJet 6958 All-in-One says it can't pick up the document but it is actually picking up the document and moving it through the printer. And, even when the document is all the way through, it keeps running. No copying takes place. If I put in 3 sheets of paper, it will pull through 2.5 of the sheets and I will have to open the ADF to remove the 3rd page that is sitting half way through the printer. No jam, just sitting there like the ADF times out. I'm stuck! All I can find are videos for printers that actually don't move paper through the system. My printer just says it's not moving the document when it actually is. Help!

I have an hp officejet 8630. I have done all these steps and I still get the error.
I believe the rollers on the open lid are the problem. They no longer "float" like the printer in the presentation. Any suggestions?

  • @mosaical99
    @mosaical99 4 года назад +4

I looked online and watched many videos about cleaning the rollers, however, it didn't seem to fit the problem I was having. It turns out that my HP 7520 All-in-one Printer had a broken hinge on the right side in the back, yet the error showed up as an ADF problem.
Another commenter on the HP website said that she noticed the lid with the ADF wasn't closing all the way down, so she put weight on it and that solved the problem.
I tried that when sending a fax--I put weight on the lid on the left and right sides, and the pages would feed through the ADF.
I'm wondering how to secure the wayward hinge or replace it to keep from getting the error about the ADF, and to not have to put both forearms down on the lid to prevent the error message.

It would be soooo helpful if in your “printer repair and mantenamce” playlist, you make a playlist for HP, another playlist for Cannon and another for Epson, etc. And even better would be to clump together like printers, ie. All HP Photosmart. Maybe alphabetize groups in one manufacturer’s playlist. 189 videos is a lot to sort through when you need help.

Will this fix the print quality? Everything else is working fine when I print from phone or use scanner but when I use the adf the color quality does not come out well. It’s very blurred. It’s not the ink it’s new and I cleaned the print head witch gave it better quality

    • @303electronics

Clean the glass. Also, make sure copy setting quality is set to "good" or "normal". If it is set to "quick" or "draft", the copies will be very light. Just cleaning the rollers will not make the copies darker.

I have been scouring the internet and i have not been able to find anything like what i'm dealing with with my ADF. I have the Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M479fdn. The feed through is fine until it spits the original document back out. its like the document doesn't get laid down until the next page is through and my pages get out of order and shoved up or off the machine. Sometimes the shoving will cause a jam. I have cleaned the rollers, i have taken the lid off the ADF and cleaned down inside there, but i am still having this issue. It's time consuming to have to babysit the scanner and remove page by page of the original document when making copies for a client of their 30+ page lease so it doesn't get mixed up or jammed. Any tips since customer service is useless? (i hope i explained my issue clearly)

Good video presentation. I don't think using alcohol is the best solution since it will dry out the roller over time. Perhaps a mild cleaner on a lint free cloth would be a better choice.

If the problem persists, the scanner has become damaged and cannot copy or scan. For more information, call HP Support." Upon printer startup, the scanning bar tries to go exceptionally left causing a grinding noise. I have tried powering on/off the printer several times which did not work. Only function i am able to do is print saved documents. I am no longer able to scan from the glass or document feeder. I am also not currently able to make a copy of a paper through the glass.

Hi. Is it only blurry when you scan or when you make a copy too? If only when scanning, you will need to check scan settings on your computer and increase resolution there. If both when scanning and copying, You may want to check to make sure the scanner cord is not loose at the connection to main board.

I've cleaned all my rollers but what's happening and I can't find it anywhere else is it my ADF is jumping or skipping as it pulls the first page in and then it stops and says "jam".
The rollers are clean and it's not a paper gripping problem.
It's very annoying. I think it might be a software problem but I don't know. I don't understand why it won't feed in slowly but instead it hops and jumps as it pulls the paper in and then it stops there's no jams.

Why does my Officejetpro 8600try to feed three pages at once??? :-(
I had no problem scanning with my Officejetpro 8600 on Friday. On Monday it's another animal and wouldn't scan at all, so I tried to run the "HP Print and Scan Doctor." It got stuck. I tried again. Again, it got stuck and wouldn't run the program completely. So, I then tried to get hold of HP Support, where they don't like talking to people. I tried their virtual assistant and they said to unplug the printer and plug it back in. WTH? But it seemed to work. I was able to start scanning my documents. Then the last three pages all tried to feed at once, jambing the damn thing! With this video, I was able to unjamb it (thank you!), cleaned the roller, and tried to scan again. Again, it won't scan! I guess now I have to unplug and plug the printer back in, every time I want to scan something. What a POS.
HP is a joke. I don't think I will EVER get another HP printer. I'm done with them.

HP 4500 often have this issue, which is usually fixed quickly by cleaning the pick up roller. In the video that I have attached below, I show how to check and clean the pick up roller. In the HP 4500 printers, it is hard to get to with fingers, so just staple the alcohol pad or thin cloth with window cleaning solution, staple it to a business card or a piece of carton and press ok a few times to have rollers run over the cleaning solution. I will post a vidoe later if I get a similar model.

False errors for document feed. No documents have been loaded at power up false jam error appears . The stop bail next to the rollers you cleaned is stuck in the down position. Suspect spring tension on front side of the feeder. It really sucks that no service manuals or parts catalogs are available. Might have to trash this printer.
