Awesome Scotty!!!! Never heard of these so educating me yet again, but super appealing to us 80s kids lol. Some lovely bits of new editing to man, love your production, brilliant watch as always 👍
I appreciate that Luke! A fair bit of internet sleuthing went into this one, so I''m glad it made for a fun vid! Cheers for the support as always mate🍻
Man that was crazy 🤪 I had no idea there were so many different ones in the collection, thankyou for sharing your toy knowledge on this toyline mate well done 👍🏻
I can't help wondering why they felt that these were so unacceptable where those that were the adults at the time grew up with Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, Popeye, etc. Maybe if these figures were of animals or cartoon characters they would have paid them no mind. I kinda wish they had done these for BMXs as I was more of a BMXer than skater, those I would have and would want!! Great video Scott!!! Thanks! 🍻
Very true! The toys seem pretty inappropriate when you look at them in isolation, but cartoons were rife with slapstick and cartoony violence and physical humour. Hell yeah, BMX Bangers, now we're talking!🤔😮 Cheers for watching and supporting mate!🍻
I still have these I love them they are my pride and joy. And I love the looks on peoples faces when they see them some people remember them and some don’t believe me they ever existed
🔥Great overview of the line. They all seem like 80s fun to me. I like the Carrie car door the most. We all liked weird stuff back then and still do! 😂 Thanks Scott.
Your best work yet, Scotty. Great mix of dark humour and information, and your enjoyment for this line really shows. I suppose these toys walk a fine line - every toy company wants to have that hit line that is banned from the schoolyard, because that's just a badge of coolness and guarantees sales. But they don't want the toy line banned from a whole country! Also looking at some of these toys reminds me of watching those skateboard injury videos - they're funny, but at the same time somewhat appalling...
Thanks mate, I really appreciate that! Oh exactly, there's definitely some schoolyard credibility that comes with certain toys being banned in schools or certain homes, but it all counts for nothing if they can't be sold at all! Thanks again for the positive feedback mate🍻
Great video Scott! Man these playtime smack ups are sick and insane! So awesome and congrats on getting the whole collection! What a unique toyline to add to your collection! At first glance they seem like they would be made kind of cheaply, but actually look to be quite well done and detailed 😄
Thanks heaps Jon, I appreciate that! Yeah, that's a good point, I kinda want to find a carded example now so I can try to figure out what these were going for at retail back in the day, and if they ended up in the discount dump bin!🤔😄
It hilariously ironic that the people protesting this line grew up watching the three stooges…. eye pokes, slaps to the face, the use of many implements to hit one and other with but THIS is unacceptable. great scripting, i got real lols multiple times.
Very true, plenty of parents clutching their pearls in response at certain kids products back in the day while shows depicted similar levels of slapstick and cartoony violence! Glad you got a laugh out of this one mate, I appreciate the support as always🤜🤛
Great toy history mate, I didnt realise they were so big, never had them but man i would have been all over them in my skateboarding day. another awesome video my friend.
Cheers Deano, a fair bit of internet detective work went into tracking down the clips and documents, I thought you'd appreciate the history! Oh yeah, as skater kids we would be been all over it!🛹
I dont remember these at all. Im a big GPK fan so IM loving these smack ups! Crazy these even hit the market in the US. If I come across these I might have to pick some up lol. Great history and review of these figures!
Thanks mate, I appreciate that! Yeah if you love GPK, these will be right up your alley. I definitely recommend picking up a few if you see them, they don't take up much space on the shelf and they display great!
G'day Scott, I can see your super excited for this toy line. Congratulation on completing the line up and beating the Australian ban.....Finally on today's video topic, I'll leave you with a famous Quote from one of my highly respected Mentor's "YOU SICK LITTLE MONKEY" Ren Hoek.......LOL 😆 AHA😅 LOL🤣 . Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Thanks heaps mate, I appreciate that! "Sick Little Monkey" is a fair description for whoever was the driving force behind these toys at Playtime Products!🤣🤣 Cheers for the support as always!
Great job Scott and I can’t help but laugh at how ridiculous these figures are I’m not hating on them I find them very funny and keep up the amazing work
An absolutely brilliant video Scott. I'd never seen these toys before you started posting them on Instagram, so this is a really interesting history lesson. I always enjoy learning about different lines from the 80s and 90s that I wasn't aware of before. They are really cool to look at as well with all the grotesque detailing. 😄 Will this segment be the start of some "Crusher After Hours" style content? Slightly edgier videos like you and Deano getting into a scrap with some Breakers fans at a Sydney Kings game? Or hunting for Slimed Heroes at a vintage toy store in a dodgy part of town? Whatever direction this goes, I'll be watching. 🧐
Thanks dude, I really appreciate the positive feedback. I thought the wackiness of this toyline called for a more edgy style, so I'm glad you enjoyed, and I'm always happy to shine a light on the more weird and obscure! Hahaha "this toy hunt is rate MA15+ for violence and course language"🤣
This is so great man! Garbage Pail Kids!!!!! Dont say I Don't..uh you know lol. Breath Blasters look interesting. The Skate Boards look cool to me lol. That Toys R Us vatalong pic is pure gold! Nice Mr Migreg tie in!!!! LOL Great haul and really digged this man. Keep up the great work!
Absolutely Smash, GPK, Madballs, Skateboard Smack-ups and all the other gross-out products for kids really capture a moment in time! Appreciate the kind words and support as always Smash!
Thanks heaps mate, glad you guys enjoyed!😆 True, there's not too many floating around in Australia, but on the plus side, there's not many people chasing them (maybe just one☝️😅)
I’m pretty sure Skateboard smack up were not never sold in the UK, certainly don’t remember seeing them around etc - look cool to me and I know for a fact my parents wouldn’t have cared, they brought GPK stickers for me lol
Yeah likewise Adam, I can't imagine my parents having much objection to letting me have them! Maybe they never made it to the UK either, if they did you'd think they'd pop up at toy fairs🤔
Cool. Never knew these where arround back in the day.👍
Glad I could shine a light on these oddities, cheers Chris!🍻
Awesome Scotty!!!! Never heard of these so educating me yet again, but super appealing to us 80s kids lol.

I still have my skateboard smackups. I loved em I bought em back in the 80s. I have my childhood Amy asphalt on display.
That's awesome! Display them proudly!🛹💥🍻
Man that was crazy 🤪 I had no idea there were so many different ones in the collection, thankyou for sharing your toy knowledge on this toyline mate well done 👍🏻
Haha cheers Ryan, they're definitely one of the more wacky and obscure 80s toy lines out there! Thanks for watching mate, glad you enjoyed!😄

Literal Boomer moments, because the parents were actual Baby Boomers.
I still have these I love them they are my pride and joy. And I love the looks on peoples faces when they see them some people remember them and some don’t believe me they ever existed
That's awesome dude, they're all the more special when they're childhood survivors!! Haha they definitely elicit some weird looks😄
Haha amazing! Never heard of these. Laughing my head off when you mention the names. 😂 The C-SPAN cut aways are great as well. 👌
Haha cheers dude, glad you enjoyed! The designers who came up with these figures definitely had a great sense of humour!😂
🔥Great overview of the line. They all seem like 80s fun to me. I like the Carrie car door the most. We all liked weird stuff back then and still do! 😂 Thanks Scott.
Cheers dude, peak 80s hilarity for me as well! Yeah Carrie is one of my favs as well. Appreciate the support mate!🍻
Nice one mate! Love seeing stuff that I had no idea existed. And loved all the verbs you came up with to describe all the accidents!
Thanks heaps Simon, I had a lot of fun putting this one together, glad you enjoyed mate!!
This line is incredible, I actually don't remember these, but I need some. 💪🤩
It's a fun obscure line for sure Deano, I hope you can score some for your collection!💪😎

Holy hell!! These things are incredible!!! I loved the archival footage of the activists talking about the toys! Ha ha ha brilliant!!
Haha cheers brother!! I came across that footage in my research on the line and I just had to include it! Glad you enjoyed it dude!👊😁
