Googling the word "Virtal" it's a drug for "Irritable bowel syndrome" and "Heavy bleeding during periods". Maybe this config is designed for heavy flow? 😂
You need to invest in hair dye, not so much the beard, but why not, but the hair IMHO needs to be done. Saying this as a Man in a similar situation who doesn't dye, but I have watched you for years and watching you go grey hurts, doesn't bother me so much as I lost my hair years ago, and I am not a YT star.
We want buildzoid on this ASAP!
Why did you partly dismantle, reassemble, then test? Shouldn’t you fully test out of the box, then tear down? 💀
I still have my EVGA 980Ti Hybrid. Love that card. First time I was able to play PUBG at 4K 50 average FPS hahahahahah
The GN sub count was 1.6M a week or two ago, 1.7M 2 days ago and 1.8M now. I am so glad they continue to grow the way they do - they deserve it.

A GPU so hot that when liquid cooled, the bios got confused because it assumed it's suppose to be engulfed in flames.
I dont think there is a single 4090 that gets hot on the market
@@maegnificant hey my MSI Suprim almost reached 65°C once...
@@Ocastia Jesus Christ, you are playing with the sun there
Wow your so funny i laughed 😅
All 4090s run very cool. Coolers on them are built for 600W, so none need to blast their fans to stay really cool (
I have an older system with a 1080ti and 8086K, overclocked. Cooled with 2 280mm AIO's. One for cpu and one for gpu, both set to exhaust out of the case, GPU front and CPU top. I supply cold air from the rear of the case. No gpu or cpu heat enters the PC and i get great temps. The radiators/pumps are positioned correctly, and are still running great after more than 5 years. It is a viable option if closed loop cooling is too expensive, which it is here in Australia.
I wish we saw more 4090s etc with this colour scheme, everything is mostly black or dark grey.
Button on the back sounds nice, better than having to open the case if you want to change the BIOS. I know it shouldn't happen very frequently, but still.
It's also exposed this way, meaning someone can accidentally push it. Imagine a cat, a kid, or yourself fumbling at the back of the computer.
It's probably unlikely for the most part.
@@SlavolkoThat is so unlikely that it’s not even worth worrying about TBH
@@Slavolko oh no my cat is gonna make me lose 70mhz on my core clock what will i ever do
Yeah I was thinking that, not sure about a cat doing it, but I could imagine if you have to pull the machine out to connect a cable or something you could hit the switch, I don't know if the GPU would crash if you swapped the BIOS while it was on.
@@yakacm I don't know if it'd crash either. Hopefully not.
GN is so awesome to both the makers and users of these things. Intentionally holding back the review until it was finally patched and ready is awesome.
I like the fact that the bios switch is on the outside 👍🏻
Thank you Steve. Great review. Have not have a desktop in like 15 years, I will definitely come here when i am ready to build a new setup
Great video :) I suppose the benefit of having the push-button BIOS switch on the rear panel is that you don't have to remove the side panel of your case just to switch between BIOS's.
+ occasionally pushing by mistake when re-seating gpu on motherboard. ;)
I was just thinking that myself, worst case they just move the switch off that back plate and put it inside v0v. Its a good feature that should be optional on all 3rd party cards imo. Or at least the connector on the pcb like these guys have, can at least add a switch to it without being a master soldering expert.
@@cjm5002 On the back i would love to see 2 switches - one for LED, on for BIOS. But 2 small switches like we have now would be enough (with PCB behind PCI cover)
Exactly, it's a good idea I thought.
I love the design of this AIO cooler designed GPU by Colorful 💪🥰👍✊. I remembered using Colorful gpus back in the early 2000’s ….. they seem to disappear and reappear from our market here in Australia 🇦🇺……… yet have been seen for about the 5years or so from some retail stores.
Great video, but I would have liked to see comparison values for other watercooled or hybrid models like the Suprim in the charts.
That’s still 30% cheaper than what I paid for my 3090
Now that's a SUPRIM oof.
Only $100 more than my 6900XT 🤣
F
Yep.
Why did you pay that much?
I think this is the level of cooler needed to charge more then founders, white paintjob aswell as a full block gpu not a hybrid solution which doesn't provide the acoustic benefits
@GN, I like the button on the outside of the case, so one can switch and doesn't have to open the case for switching BIOS.
ngl I liked it too.
Great coverage, with the amount of AIO failures I’ve personally seen across different systems and brands in the past few years, I’d be hard pressed to trust my shiny new $1800 4090 with one
The "no tearing up" sticker was actually telling you not to cry
Definitely a beast of a cooler. Would be awesome to see an all white build thats top teir 4k performance and virtually silent
Good luck with the "virtually silent" part lol.
Excellent breakdown and thanks for doing this.
Seeing as how the GN team has been expanding the level of detail in testing for coolers, it would be fantastic to see a similar comparison to a custom loop with an EKWB on a 4090 and something like the Gigabyte Aorus AIO 4090 and ASUS's ROG STRIX AIO 4090 (when it becomes available).
I appretiate all your complains. Ive taken decisions based on them and im very happy with the result
I think the button approach is a very good troubleshooting feature! It allows you to switch out problematic vbios without needing to open up a panel on the case. This easily let's you test out problematic Vbios software - which neptune is definitely dealing with.
oh, loved the button on the backplate!
For liquid cooled, there is the Suprim Liquid X. Should be interesting to see how that performs against the FE.
Optimum tech has a video on fe and suprim liquid x
I remember the turbo button on old old computers that actually make it slower but I didn't know that at the time. Its a feature to make it work with even older software (mostly games) that's designed to run at a lower clock and will run the entire game, not just framerate, at double or more speed if "turbo" is not enabled/
Fantastic in depth work as usual steve, we really appreciate your level of detail in your reviews. Would love to see this compared to the AORUS 360mm radiator in thermals of the GPU and the memory and MOSFETs and other and performance as well. Also, with AIO cards like that, the best case scenario would be a front mount with the tubes at the bottom, correct? Or am I misunderstanding something?
Interested to know the answer as well… Steve?
Thank you Steve!
My Zotac Trinity, which is pretty much the founders edition with a huge cooler bunged on top is running at full load 54 degree C and 1820mhz at stock, im glad i did not pay the factory overclock tax.
Ah was excited to see the fins under the pump
Have an old 1080GTX from them (seem to have been shipping to the UK for a good while now). Has lasted ages with no issues.
@ラテちゃん got it just before crypto destroyed the market
thats some great cooling performance, i hope they sort out their vbios situation and allow more power to get pushed through it. at that price point and level of cooling, overclocking should've been more of a consideration from colorful.
Thanks for review
Quite the colourful review!
So glad you did a tear down. When I spend hard earned money on a so called top end GPU card, liquid cooled at that I expect a lot more. I am quite disappointed to the workmanship that they put into this. I am planning on upgrading my rig and have been researching for a while now. I can make this one off my list. Great video.
just started the video. I'm hoping to get an RTX 4090 soon, and also hoping to get a waterblock for it. Mostly for space, but hoping for some better performance, too. Somewhat funny/cool. Your sponsor was ThermalTake, and I just bought their The Tower 500, upgrading from my BeQuiet Quiet Base 801. Custom loop that has been such a pain to fit. I'm really liking The Tower 500.
Thanks, Steve
Dang you Steve!! I've been trying to get Neptune with no luck!!
for someone who has such a deep history with pc gaming hardware i really haven't seen steve play any video games but i'm sure he must be into some !
one of these days it would be really cool to see what games steve plays.
That's neat how y'all show your number of years of experience reviewing the product category
That big black sticker could also help dampen vibration of the plastic housing where it's right next to the pump.
Very true, that's a legit reason to use that instead of a cover directly on the pump. Physical clearance too. If it's tight enough for a sticker to work, there isn't much room at all in there.
Damned impressive machining on that cold plate. 😳 Maybe they should get into heat sink design!
It must also be mentioned that those AIO coolers the FAN/RGB cables run coiled up both tubes to the Radiator from the GPU block. So people get the wrong impression that their tubing ID is going to be wider when in reality its actually not. Those inner ID of those tubes are like 4.5mm/5mm. Thickness of the tubing is maybe just under 2mm thick. Giving your overall tubing OD being just under 10mm.
great guide video for a card ill never get and isnt even available in my country but i watch anyway
Great review! We would to see a Vulcan too! Let's see how Kingpin’s throne shakes! 😎 (just kidding, but curious).
Can confirm, coasters ARE awesome. Mine came last week.
It says no TEARING (tee-ring) up! You can't cry while removing it. Pretty solid advice.
About two dissimilar metals stuck together, they're brazed. Essentially, you're gluing one metal to the other using an intermediary metal that sticks to both.
Thanks Steve
Gracias Esteban
video cards are getting power intensive. Ive been watercooling since 2002.. but only cpu and it was fine with a 360 with silent levels or even full passive with just a 3900x. then i upgraded to a 5900x and i added a 6900xt and the gpu cooler noise it made was insane with the 90C temps to go with it. I couldn't take it. finally added gpu into loop and it dumped so much heat i had to upgrade to 2 420 rads to keep temps below 50c at silent noise levels.
i like the turbo button. hearkens back to the old 286 386 days. 😅
It looks like the heat pipes are connected where the coolest water comes out. Trying to cool that memory.
I heard you get bonus points if you pair it with Royal Trident Z.
6:58 "No tearing up" on that sticker instead of 'warranty void' may sound like a lost in translation error, but it is equally likely that they were on the receiving end of an FTC Action for violations of the Magnuson & Moss warranty and repair act, but still wanted to deter customers from servicing/modifying/fixing their cards and assumed most people would not read the text.
maybe it's just a tamper seal to indicate that it's been torn down at least to an extent, independent of how it affects the warranty status if there is one.
@@proCaylak What i want to do is buy 4 of these cards, and use a friction driver to pull all of these stickered drives out without damaging the sticker(or a heat gun to pull them off) then put them all on one card, and send it in for an intermittant problem that they're not going to be able to reproduce and say
'i'll pay for shipping and all that if you cant figure it out because its just as likely to be my motherboard/monitor'
I just want to see what they say seeing 4 tamper stickers when there should be only one.
@@denvera1g1 I admire such humorous acts.
I like the looks of this thing, blocky silver, looks very industrial, wouldn't thought that it is a GPU if not of the large model label.
looks like the extra money went into that custom aluminum casting and the custom machined pump block extensions
From a mechanical perspective I would design a card that simply has two coolant ports on the rear and keep all the pumps and radiators external. Then you have the option of running the lines through a pub beer line cooler 😊
I would hook up a car cooling system through the pc to be safe
I would just extend the hoses and place the radiator outside in the snow. Then I would move to a colder climate for the summer.
I would hook it up to the freezing cold heart of my ex
@@Crow-EHOuch! 😢
I've always wanted to see more race car theme pcs with real parts, like have an actual race car radiator, turbo, and nos can as part of the case, would be amazing if it actually helped cool lol
Their wiring solution for the fans is super clever, the other AIO companies should take note.
Come on people! Give Gamers nexus more thumbs ups! You know you’re loving this content!
White PC color scheme is so 37 minutes ago. New age is to build as big and empty a PC as possible, keeping the primary components inside an all-glass case, while having your cooling system ported to the AC compressor outside. Also, your case can be beige. All your parts can be beige.
Reject modernity, return to beige.
4:10
Also the teflon line tubes can have the teflon flake off and clog the Block, either from poor manufacturing and/or the tubes getting slightly too bent during installation.
permeation any day of the week over that.
I saw neptune numbers from other hardware channels also coming to the same conclusion that the neptune doesn't provide much, if any, extra clock speeds under stock conditions. I'm happy to see gains from the newly updated/flashed turbo mode but it's a shame that the performance boost isn't that great for this water-cooled gpu.
That totally makes sense though since the air cooler 4090s are not temperature constrained and even at stock voltages you're at the far end of the efficiency curve.
At a 75% power limit it already supplies almost 90% of the clockspeed.
Meaning adding 33% power from there gives you +12% performance. Already not impressive, and still, at these stock settings, it's only 60-something degrees on air.
Realistically adding another 33% power gives you the 600W limit but less than 10% in clockspeed as you'd expect efficiency to worsen further as it's a curve.
So liquid is more about space in your case here.
the space savings are still 100% worth it. If space saving is important, that is
@@marcogenovesi8570 for me yeah… I hate those 3-3.5 slots GPUs
If I were building/selling GPUs, I'd do dual vBIOS, one is baseline (basically reference) the other being the power hungry (limited to whatever the power plug can handle, without needing software changes), potentially a little loud, vBIOS.
THANKS STEVE!
Would be interesting to see GN test the Acer a770 16gb card. Using a blower fan & a high pressure blow though fan is a novel design.
That is literally how every server has been cooled for 30+ years...
Which is why servers are SO loud.
@@Prophes0r They are not in series but in parallel. Server are also only now moving to PWM variable speed fans verses extremely high speed/pressure constant rate fans. It entirely different from blower only cards. Take a look at the card it's a interesting option at $400 MSRP.
As which the colorful sale in Korea, actually the RTX 4090 NB EX-V got a name “Tomahawk” as like Neptune and Vulcan.
Thanks Steve, now can you do a case review on the azza overdrive case?
Thanks Steve
My car cost about the same as this card so theoretically I could straight trade a 1999 Volvo S70 for this beast of a GPU. Mental.
Thx Steve !!!
The Vbios switch is a better idea if you are needing to switch often as you don't have to open your case. Love to see this compared to MSI SUPRIM Liquid X.
who switchews it at all? if i paid 1800 for a GPU i want max performance all the time lol
I completely agree. I don't get the negative tone towards it. If I'm debugging a potential OC issue or I'm in the process of overclocking - why do I need to open up the case in order to switch bioses back and forth. This seems like a much better idea.
@@stavencapp the real reason for dual bios chips is because you can flash a modded bios for overclocking, and you still have a "factory bios" you can switch to if the bios mod does not work (which is very possible). If your bios mod fails the card does not boot up and you need to use hardware flashing tools to rewrite the bios chip. Which is very inconvenient.
They obviously can't market it directly as such because it voids warranty, in theory, in some regions.
@ラテちゃん the "official" marketing reason is to have two card modes from factory, one for performance and one for silent mode with slower fan and less performance.
This is really an obvious lie for many years. You can set power targets and fan speed settings with GUI software since years ago.
The real reason is bios modding to overclock the card. Bios modding is ""not officially allowed"" by AMD/NVIDIA so they can't say "hey we made this special feature so you can do safe bios mod" in the marketing. They need to lie about that.
I’m not 100% certain, but I swear you are describing and overall talking slower, cus I’m able to follow you ALOT better which is awesome. Started with you back in January, but didn’t know nothing and couldn’t follow. Switched to LTT who were easier to understand to where I got a slowly increase grasp on all this, and I seem to be able to follow you which I’m loving.
Looks pretty good. Hopefully they increase the power limit.
more like price
Back in my day, I used to receive unfinished software to test. Back in my day, those were also sent for free.
In 2022, people seem way too happy to shell over a grand for the privilege (?) of testing products.
A fool and his money...
This is pretty cool, More psu tests plssss
I don't understand the critiques of the dual bios switch on the back of the GPU. It's a good feature because I can change it without opening the pc.
Colorful is making some noise.. good one

I was thinking of buying an air cooled one to heat my house. My gas bills are already 4x higher than last year, to combat the cold i normally game in bed using the TV connected to my PC. Perhaps if i get a 4090 i can heat my home enough to sit at the desk and game during the colder months of the year. They need to start making watercooled GPU's with a quick disconnect on the card end and selling the radiator/fans/tube as optional extras. This way its easy to just hook them up to existing loop.
my 4090 heats the place up less than my old 3080 10gb...
@@MenkoDany ah, so maybe not a good option then. I need an upgrade from my 2060 (none super). Maybe the 4060ti/super or 4070. I dont actually game much in summer so the heating of the card would be genuine.
In the desert winter of Oregon I really do use my OLED tv + pc as heaters; they are about 4-5ft from me and I will turn my heat down so that it does not come on while I'm gaming. When you play a game like Cyberpunk on an LG c1 oled shit gets hot!
@@xtxschmidt yep, with the costs here in the UK of gas its allot to pay for heating + electric + gaming. It might genuinely work out better to get a hotter card with better performance and save some gas, pay a little extra electric and still live in warmth but only with the benefit of a better gaming experience.
how do u still pay 4x as much
im paying 2,5x as much as the normal level from the last seasons which was around 7 cents and electricity is now 2x the cost of gas so absolutely dumb idea to heat my place with electricity because gas is cheaper
your pc warming the ambient air up is just a side effect
Would love to see you do comparison of all 4090s with AIOs.
@epicgames1792wrong name lmfao
So good to see that your card wasn't replaced with Metal, Rocks or Anti-Static Bags......that were empty.
Since I have been seeing GN I bought another case and changed the position of my Nzxt x63 from the front to the top. The pump didn't make any noise during the start and it works optimal. I will never install such radiator in the bottom or in the front. The pump must be in a lower position.
Who is Colorful to tell me where and where not to not "tear it up"? 💃
"No tearing it up" goddamn it burke XD
No tearing up had me dying lol
I haven't tuned in for a minute and holy crap Steve has some gray hairs coming in! I feel old
Nice of them to leave a decent amount of cable slack for that vBIOS switch.
This cooler is nice on this 4090!
Never thought I'd see a turbo button on a modern GPU.
Maybe it can help get 'cinematic' FPS on demand!
I bet it's actually cos there's a 486 chip running the pump, lol
I'm new to computers, and your channel has been invaluable to my research. It's UNBELIEVABLE how many tests you guys have run. The data. The data. THE MF DATA. You always provide the numbers. Seconding this. I'm the kind of person who gets excited over a good spreadsheet. I don't really care about opinions (unless it's a trusted one, like this channel), I want objective hard numbers that I can analyze and draw my own conclusions from. GN does an exceptional job with that.

7:04 Thou shalt NOT be tearing up!
That button for bios switch has style imo, but having it on the outside bears the risk of pushing it while the PC is on.
@@BlackhatAudio true, but never underestimate the stupidity of the user.
Those heatpipes dont do much. They could've easily just had a copper tube with water flowing through it going over the VRM/memory. Fury X had that.
Looks kinda slapped together.
Finally, someone puts the Dual V-BIOS switch external so you don't have to open your case to switch it
I like the bios button placement. Very practical
Any idea what the empty P5 connects to? Looks like maybe a place for a JST connector? Possibly to connect I2C to the uP9512U? Curious to see what a volt mod on this card could do. Still waiting for mine to arrive (will hopefully be making a video as well)
Now we need a GN mug that looks like a LN2 pot!
Had a couple of cards from them, all Vulkan cause it comes with a small LCD screen on the side
Having a bios button near the the display outputs, lets you switch modes without removing case panel
That's a neat feature imo
