This is sad.A same thing happened at an old RAF back near Manchester. Over 600 houses were built on it. But in the centre to remember it they placed a white Vulcan bomber and an Aircraft Hangar which you can go in and there are all sorts of old planes in there. Part of the runway is still there to. On the top bit it still says 05R. It was sad to see it go but good because they still left a few things which is nice to see. Anyway great video mate! Really well made!
A rather sad portrayal of the passing of yet another historically memorable wartime airfield, where I landed several times in Cessna 310Q G-BBXL and Taifun 17E G-OFUN. Thank you for taking the trouble to record the demise event. May I please know what the appropriately melancholy music was.
A very sad occasion. I grew up in Salisbury and flew from Old Sarum many, many, times, going solo in a T31 glider in 1969 and then becoming an instructor for the Air Cadets. I also flew many times with friends in the Bustard Flying Clubs Tiger Moth G-ALND.
Utter disgrace, closed due to the greed of a developer, who does not even live in this country. I live just across the road from Old Sarum and loved it there.

What a shame the airfield closed, was so nice!

It has since reopend with a parachute school operating only Cheers Ray7
Where are the two flying schools and associated activities going? So sad. This must hit the number of visitors to the museum.
Hangar 3 is seriously dilapidated. The local authority needs to step in.

It was a lovely place to visit
Very sad indeed! Is the hangar a listed building by any chance?
+Flight Image yes it’s grade 1 listed building
Yes it is listed, but the developer stopped all flying. because he was not permitted to build over 400 houses there. Pure greed.
So why are they closing down the airport? Did they build a new one?
Great video regardless 👍
+PHX Planespotter Jonathon Stafford I have added the need article in the description. Thank you for watching
@@aircraftandships thx
Pure spitefulness from the owners. Shame on them. Many good, decent, ordinary folk have lost their livelihoods. Where's caring gone?
The parachute centre statement are saying there flying next season so let’s wait and see
Such a shame :(
These hangers go back to the First World War the are Belfast Truss same as the Hangers at RAF Hendon Grad 2 listed
They are just so interesting to look at with all that wood on the roofs
