Dear judges. We are probably many who are tired of watching a kohaku become Grand Champion again and again.
At least I am - there are so many other beautiful koi fish all over the world and I don't actually have a single kohaku in my pond.
The judges forget that it is the wide variety of diversity that makes koi fish to something special and in a way the judges force the breeders to focus first and foremost at kohaku but also showa and sanke.
The many wins in shows also force the holders of koi to have those three types of koi fish in their ponds; otherwise they are nothing special in some people’s opinion. IMO it’s an evil circle that only the judges can get us out of again.

I have noticed over the years the prevalence of wins for the "big three". Astonishing when I see nishikigoi that are absolutely breathtaking of many other varieties. I think that the breeders are the only ones that can force this change. Protest one year and do not enter a single Kohaku, Sanke, or Showa. But they won't do it. That would be making a fuss.

I agree with you, I would love it if they pick other kinds :)
