I’m simply thankful the classic comics are available so readily with the TPB’s, omnibus’, etc….there is nothing today that interests me. Great video as always, and I appreciate the two of you speaking for the overwhelming majority of us. PS: I just started Dazzler: it isn’t bad. And, I started as a three year old because I loved Batman. In elementary school I got into GI Joe - their Bullpen Bulletins got me heavily into Marvel - and their history - as I went into junior high. I LOVE Marvel’s history: as Eric said, I could live to be 99 and never catch up….so, even without reading today’s material, there are a wealth of stories from the past - readily available - just waiting to be read.

Yup! Glad you enjoyed it. You’re totally right! Why read anything new when we couldn’t read all the great stuff from the past in our lifetime.

I want to add something else: politically I am conservative. I don’t like either of the two parties, but I definitely lean conservative. I just heard Eric mention the X-Men were lead by a black woman: I had never even given this a second thought until now. As a pre-teen, this didn’t shock or surprise me at all. Yet, people who lean conservative are always branded as “racist and homophobic” by the media and woke corporate America, and I’m sick of it.

I agree my friend… subtlety is the best way to go with diversity and social justice.. I think readers just feel their intelligence is being insulted when it is thrown in their faces

Not sure if you've read my comment Dante, but why many collect comics? Well, Its because of the stories, the characters and art. Comics are the perfect escape that can be for any Genre and any age! I am an artist, and I'm always inspired to create because of comics!

I honestly enjoy a lot of the Peter Parker/character scenes in comics more than the superhero scenes, that's why I have a love/hate relationship with Nightwing, the guy is a total heartbreaker😂

People like me prefer the older comics because the current ones are blatantly pushing SJW narratives. Unoriginal stories. Gay characters that only exist because they are gay and have to push that self identification sometimes multiple times in a single issue. Recon of solid origin stories(Static is a perfect example). Sexuality changing characters like Iceman. Creating Miles Morales who is a race swap of Peter Parker. Using likenesses in the shows or movies that do not match what we KNOW from the comics(Starfire in the Titans show). The personalities in the comics and shows and movies that do not match the historical versions. The writers being hired because of their sexuality or gender rather than their skill. The Black Widow movie leadership admitting they aren't aware of their comics and wanted to push a feminist movie. The WandaVision creators not even knowing who Mephisto was but using Wanda's kids in the show. Basically not knowing the actual info about the characters they are being handed. Too many examples to give.

Man I didn’t realize my mere existence was political. Guess I don’t deserve representation now

I don’t know if that’s what he’s saying. I think he’s just expressing frustration over particular types of rhetoric being force fed to the reader as opposed to making it more subtle. In the past it was subtle and no one said anything about the diversity. Thanks for commenting

Not completely sure about the Miles comparison as they did give him a backstory with his folks and tied in Prowler. Also I'm sure they wanted a younger Spiderman anyway- however your comment Definately holds true on alot of whats wrong with comics!

I dont think you have to look far for representation for a LGBT. Coagula, Wiccan, hulkling, northstar, midnighter, apollo, and even miss america. My favorite would be Northstar. My issue is when you take a Character like Iceman who has been straight for over half a century then a new writer comes along and magically retcons his whole life or the current run which has Star Lord as into guys now.....its about stealing a successful identity and repurposing it. It should actually be an insult to you as it is blatant pandering rather than creating an original character that you can go and support.

Marvel and DC ruined each of their companies by getting rid of character evolution and actual story telling in lieu of even/reboot of the month/year.

Excellent point! I was so annoyed with that. One of the reasons I stopped buying modern comics in 2016
