very very well played i am learning this sonata currently and my piano teacher (who conducted the choir when the Queen of England visited San Francisco ) recommended i watch this video to understand how it should be player
kevlu8 It is very unlikely that either of the two Opus 49 sonatas will impress in any competition (neither would the three juvenile works WoO 47); indeed they are often specifically excluded from auditions and competitions. The other thirty, from Opus 2 No 1 (which should be your first attempt at a Beethoven sonata), represent quite simply, one of the greatest achievements in western classical music.
Juan Villanueva okay u dont really wanna use pedal in this piece . Only time u wanna use pedal is when ur trying to connect the octaves in the last page . So basically use pedal when trying to connect notes that are hard to connect
I know pretty well who barenboim is, the only thing i wanted to express with this post is that i am going to try hard to play it as well as i am able to But nevertheless thanks for this 'useful' information
Just because it's easy to play the notes does not mean it's easy to play the piece. Many people forget that piano isn't just notes. It's a whole world of expression, and there are many different ways you can interpret a piece, but if you play nothing but notes without emotion or passion, you are playing it WRONG
Yes piano is probably the hardest instrument to play, it's so easy to make sound out of it, not true music with emotions. Only musicians can understand how hard it is to play despite how easy it looks
Mazze Rabeneck If you describe the two facile sonatas Opus 49 as ‘...brilliant’, then it leaves you pretty much nowhere to go with the other thirty which are quite simply one of the greatest achievements in the history of western classical music. Beethoven did not want Opus 49 included in the canon of his piano sonatas.
+Daniel Jiang maybe it was the always the same guy, started with Bach, then he died and reincarnated in Beethoven, then reincarnated in Chopin and so on..
So narrow-minded!. It probably sounds plain and "easy" when you are playing it, but by no means, in the lively and astonishing way as master Baremboim did. Just open your mind...and listen carefully!
Kevin Huang it's actually not. There are voices, pedal, and the music that needs to be added into this piece. The notes my be relatively simple but it is in, no way, easy.
He's just pure genius. Absolutely amazing. Beethoven is his trademark after all.
His trills are amazing :( :O
I absolutely love his interpretation!!!
Also I love his beautiful fingers!!!!!!
You played this song so good, it was the the best performance I have seen so far.
You would never have imagined the quality of the interpretation (and recording)...
*He reminds us that we’re playing it wrong*
Beautiful! 🥰😊💜
I think its wonderful
After listening to this wonderful person, I felt as if Beethoven was in front of me. One of the most brilliant performances I have ever seen!
Amazing!

Muy hermoso, me gusta mucho su interpretación!!
Beautiful touch, alluring tone, nice long musical lines ... what's not to like :--) ?
He's like how Rubinstein was for Chopin, but for Beethoven.
I think your playing was fantastic!

I am currently practicing this song (Movement 1) for the Canadian Music Competition. Any suggestions?
No. Just play it the way YOU feel like it should go.
If its for a competition i would go with a harder sonata

Mazze Rabeneck not easy. So much thought and practice goes into this piece.

haha what the heck man? life is so boring there's nothing good to do, huh?
Why in such a rush, Mr. Barenboim?
so easy
sssssh
This may sound easy, but is one heck of a job to master musically. Just my humble opinion.
So narrow-minded!. It probably sounds plain and "easy" when you are playing it, but by no means, in the lively and astonishing way as master Baremboim did. Just open your mind...and listen carefully!
it might sound easy, but to play this piece correctly is really really hard. specially like Barenboim play it.
