they are both single survivor chapters that are licensed. it seems right to compare them. mikaela too since she was also a single survivor chapter. the thing is that mikaela brought a new mechanic (boons). nick cage brought fun perks. alan wake is cool and all but his perks are nothing special. i guess champion of light is the only perk that can consistently hinder.
With Champion of Light and Fixated, a surviror should be able to walk 70% faster while using a flashlight. It means they can walk at 3.8m/s which is almost running speed. So you lose almost no distance while blinding the killer at a pallet and they get slown down meaning you can make even more distance.
Champion of light fixated background player and vigil sounds like a killers hell. Imagine a swf running a build like that in conjunction with buckle up so if you don’t pick up you’re punished and if you do pick up you’re punished.
Yeah you basically lose no distance while blinding them, it’s also has a separate cooldown from exhaustion perks Champion of light, fixated, sprint burst, and vigil will become a very strong chase build unless the killer is running lightborn to counter CoL then you have a useless perk but so does he so you still get value out of the perk regardless
Deadline is gonna be nice with hyperfocus, stakeout, & resilience. Champions seems like it can be strong in some situations. 20% hindered is a LOT. I won’t use the other boon to be honest
It's counterproductive though because it makes skillchecks significantly harder for only 10% more of them. You get more skillchecks with hyperfocus already, so what is the value?
Let's not forget Champion of Light will also trigger the Hindered on things like Flashbang blinds, so you don't even need to slow yourself down or anything. Also, I see people failing to realize Deadline will probably make Autodidact actually usable. I foresee them removing the injured requirement for Deadline aswell, cus frankly it seems like it has no real reason to be there.
But the perk wouldn't be active if you're holding a flashbang, right? Since you have to be holding a flashlight to use it? It probably _would_ work with Blast Mine, though, as long are you're holding a flashlight to activate it.
ive been using autodidact for eternity and i get 5 stacks regularly. this perk is only going to make auto even easier. never understood the hatred for the perk and thinking it's weak. extremely strong against sloppy butcher and antiheal in general.

I think illumination should show windows or pallets, if it’s in a limited area it should do more personally. Think that would personally make it a perk worth running
i agree 100%, honestly i don't see a reason why it shouldn't show everything you can interact with (with the exception being lit totems, since i think that would be a little too crazy) since boon perks are SUPPOSED to be stronger than just "see chest and generator." i think it should also be added to a map if you have one equipped (the current version, not the one i suggested) since it fits with the alan wake vibe
It would be too littered. The Boon allows you to see all the gens on the map, as well as all chests. If the vaults are there as well it's too much, hence the restricted amount of items appearing
Maybe just make it so the it’s just the vaults/pallets in the boon range. So just Windows in the boon only while it’s all gens and chests outside the range

Don't forget Deadline with Autodidact. It's still niche but it's nice the autodidact gamers got something. Happy for them. Everything else is meh and I'd say the Boon is straight garbage. Even in solo queue I don't really see the use. Light is gonna cause people to get mad which will be hilarious. People get annoyed as is with pallet blinding and now survivors have a perk to buff it. Can't wait to see the forum posts on that.
Killer mains will bitch to the end of the earth about it enough that it’s gutted before it even leaves PTB. Meanwhile, those same killer players are gonna queue up playing chucky, with UW, pain res, etc
The only other use for deadline I thought of is if you are using both the needle add ons for medkit with stake out to get an even faster self heal than before
Deadline seems like it could pair well with Autodidact. Also the reduced penalty for missed skillchecks on deadline just seems like a counter to Hunter’s Lullaby, if anything.
I think you're understating how impactful and frankly punishing Champion of Light is going to make flashlights. Even 3 seconds of a 20 second hinder is significant, especially after what a massive setback losing a survivor pickup often already is, and it's likely going to make the window of forgiveness survivors get on their blind timing in current day even more aggravating to fall victim to. Also, I think Deadline will likely be decent even just in combo with Resilience and no Hyperfocus or This is Not Happening. Resilience is already really good value on your gen speeds, and extra skill checks are a welcome and potent bonus (assuming you hit them lol). Of course either or both of those other two perks and/or additonally Stakeout improve the potency even more, but I don't think they're necessary to make Deadline justifiable or worthwhile. I would maybe just only use it with at least ONE other synergistic perk.

So...if it makes eveything visible it should trigger markings for every map... so set it once with a map and then have permanent marks that you can then share with the whole team if you need to find totems or gens
The boon is more like clairvoyance than dejavu. Dejavu is permanent anywhere on map and gives gen speed boost. Deadline would also be good with autodidact (if it allows).
As a flash squad player I will say that champion of light could still have good uses in getting flashlight saves especially if the killer is just trying to tunnel one person out, having the killer slowed after the save could give the survivor in danger some much needed distance.

Blind the killer when they go to break a pallet, and the person getting tunneled should be able to get away for basically free. I know people would prefer to go for flash light saves, but I believe applying Champion the way I mentioned will be more valuable.
Was super excited to try the new shadow born and now this perk just feels like it kills all the excitement. At least it has a cool down but still. I guess things have to be balanced out in the end
One thing I think is important to take note of, is that Champion Of Light doubles up as anti tunnel. Blind at pallet, run away. Killer wastes a lot of time catching up which means you'll be long gone. If the hinder stacks with Chem trap, it may also push Chem trap into a strong anti tunnel perk for the synergy
The Hinder doesn't stack with other Champion of Light Hinders, but it does stack with Chem Trap. When a Killer is hit by both they'll be walking about as fast as a walking Survivor until the Chem Trap wears off.
Honestly makes me want to run Lightborn . Getting blinded at pallets is annoying but doesn’t give survivors much of an advantage . Getting slowed to a crawl for 6 seconds once a minute with 4 survivors running it though ? Yuck . At least the frost bomb one they have to do 50% of a gen and I have to kick the pallet which I can see is trapped .
All the perks are lackluster and should be buffed in some numbers. The boon should linger, the skill check perk is only common usable while running aautodiadact.
Is 10% increased skillcheck chance really worth an entire perk slot with the downside of being injured and random placement ?? For instance if on average you get 20 skillchecks a game you spend a perk slot for 2 extra skill checks in a game, only if you’re injured, and they have a chance to be random lmao (Okay so I’ve learned it’s additive not multiplicative, so it’s like 15% + 10% which is a bigger deal but like many have pointed out really only good with autodidact)
I can see Champion Of Light being good for helping out a buddy getting chased. Interrupt someone mid chase while killer is vaulting or breaking a pallet by blinding them to help your friends escape chase.
I saw Zubat testing the perks and all of them are useless. The hindered from the blind is only going to be used while blinding the killer, but that’s when the killer is not moving so by the time hindered starts to take effect it already goes away when you start moving, but the movement speed is nice. The other 2 perks I mean…. There is no reason to use them, one wastes your time to give info to teammates but rely on teammates is the worst thing you can do in DBD. Less penalty for missed skill checks is something to laugh at

New meme build: Juiced flashlight + CoL + Fixated/Self-Aware + Chemical Trap + Flex (Lightweight/Streetwise/BtL?). Predrop a pallet and plop that CT bad boy on it and then destroy the killer's retinas while they break the pallet, breaking their ankles in the process.
Illumination is trash. Extremely surprised to see Scott rate it well. Just take Deja'Vu (adds 5% repair speed too) or a map with Purple addon so everybody can see gens. Combos well with Deja'Vu as well. It's so underpowered and it needs something else to be even worth considering. Perhaps it could also act as a boon trap and a killer that goes to snuff the boon gets "illuminated" or has their aura revealed for 15 seconds to all survivors. That would make it still a tech perk, but actually useful like Wiretap or Kindred. For a boon build you want Circle, Shadowstep, *maybe* exponential and 1 exhaustion perk. Illumination doesn't fit unless you're memeing 4 boons, and even then, Dark Theory is a better meme and actually somewhat useful.
We finally have another perk to increase skill check chances besides Spine Chill which requires the killer to be facing your direction. Even though it requires you being injured, I’m mostly excited to pair it with Autodidact.
Why is no one adressing the fact that there are 134 survivor perks in the game and only 4 slots meaning unless new perks are busted (which would be p2w for licensed characters), they will not see any meaningful play. They need to truncate the pool - combine effects and update useless perks or make more than 4 slots. It's getting ridiculous!
i personally don't think it'll be too big of a deal, especially since the perk specifically states it doesn't stack, so if you have a frontal lobe you'll just look down to avoid it
I don’t like the fact the bless speed bonus on the new boom has a condition to activate there are only 2 other perks that affect blessing speed and one is spine chill with 6% which is terrible and resilience with 9% which saves you a second. I wish the devs would add the blessing speeds to leader and counterforce

From my experience jut because 1 perk can be countered that doesnt mean it has any less value. Thr killer needs to waste 1 SLOT TO COUNTER IT.... While the survivor has many other great options in its place and has my chances to use it freely. Plus Paring that with Pallet Saves, Back ground player, chemical Trap and top that off with Windows that perk will have so much annoying Fre form behind it. Especially good times using this to really mess with killers who already struggle.
Champion of light I don't see going live at 6 seconds and 20%. It's going to get nerfed to something like 3 seconds and like 5% or 10%. It sounds too decent as it is now, so no chance it lasts longer than the next big patch without a nerf.

Combos well with Deja'Vu as well. It's so underpowered and it needs something else to be even worth considering. Perhaps it could also act as a boon trap and a killer that goes to snuff the boon gets "illuminated" or has their aura revealed for 15 seconds to all survivors. That would make it still a tech perk, but actually useful like Wiretap or Kindred.
For a boon build you want Circle, Shadowstep, *maybe* exponential and 1 exhaustion perk. Illumination doesn't fit unless you're memeing 4 boons, and even then, Dark Theory is a better meme and actually somewhat useful.

We finally have another perk to increase skill check chances besides Spine Chill which requires the killer to be facing your direction. Even though it requires you being injured, I’m mostly excited to pair it with Autodidact.
But what if I'm holding a flashlight and the killer kicks a Blast Mine?

Now it makes sense why Shadowborn is giving haste.
Why is no one adressing the fact that there are 134 survivor perks in the game and only 4 slots meaning unless new perks are busted (which would be p2w for licensed characters), they will not see any meaningful play. They need to truncate the pool - combine effects and update useless perks or make more than 4 slots. It's getting ridiculous!
CoL will actually be insane especially in SWFs with chain blinds.

i personally don't think it'll be too big of a deal, especially since the perk specifically states it doesn't stack, so if you have a frontal lobe you'll just look down to avoid it
Autodidact with an addon for the medkit giving more skill checks has potential. Could get some value with deadline
autodidact doesn't work with medkits.

I don’t like the fact the bless speed bonus on the new boom has a condition to activate there are only 2 other perks that affect blessing speed and one is spine chill with 6% which is terrible and resilience with 9% which saves you a second. I wish the devs would add the blessing speeds to leader and counterforce

Use that last perk with smash hit and you will get a ton of distance

i would use Deadline for a skill check challenge, since holding m1 is so boring
i do not like champion of light for the same reason that i dont like residual manifest: guaranteed blinds exist (yes ofc you can technically not break a pallet and go around but cmon, also god pallets exist)

I guess Deadline would add more skill checks to the needle add ons on med kits, triggering even more Skill Checks and Bonuses 🤷
As someone who uses Autodidact every game, I see deadline as an absolute win.

However, they don’t call them Paragraphs anymore.
Idk why, I think a different naming scheme made sense for smaller content drops.
But ever since Ghost Face every content drop is a Chapter and they retired the Paragraph.
From my experience jut because 1 perk can be countered that doesnt mean it has any less value.
Thr killer needs to waste 1 SLOT TO COUNTER IT.... While the survivor has many other great options in its place and has my chances to use it freely.
Plus Paring that with Pallet Saves, Back ground player, chemical Trap and top that off with Windows that perk will have so much annoying Fre form behind it. Especially good times using this to really mess with killers who already struggle.
Fun interaction, deadline and technician will make missed skill checks not as bad of a reduction.
Champion of Light means continued use of Lightborn over giving Shadowborn a try.

Imo self care, botany, deadline and hyper focus would be really good cuz you can have value on healing urself,, teammates and doing gens
Champion of light I don't see going live at 6 seconds and 20%. It's going to get nerfed to something like 3 seconds and like 5% or 10%. It sounds too decent as it is now, so no chance it lasts longer than the next big patch without a nerf.

Do you mean Shadowborn? Two Can Play with Lightborn would be redundant since Lightborn prevents you from being blinded altogether, preventing you from getting the synergy I imagine you're implying from the build.

After all, the reason they changed Shadowborn was because they're adding an FOV slider to the menu, and increasing your FOV is all Shadowborn did :P
