  • Sorry if the gunshot scared you... But I'm loving this Faber Castell E-Motion Pure Black edition. This pen is made so well! Go to 15:55 to skip my extended writing sample & see the size comparison.
Bought from cult pens & the ink is Diamine Majestic Blue

I have the rollerball version of this pen, in the white aluminum finish. Love the weight of the pen, great in a street fight between calligraphers. One issue--when posting the cap, you must push firmly to join the cap to the pen. When I first used the pen, the cap fell off a few times before I calibrated the amount of force needed to post the cap.

Last word on this pen I promise!! Just really to say that writing with this pen gets better & better & better. A really really good fountain pen & an excellent buy. In a perfect world it would be good to sample the nibs before buying, as I feel certainly with the medium nib, that they tend to err on the fine side.

I’ve now placed an order for this pen in the black finish. I’m looking forward to receiving it. Even though I really don’t need any more pens right now. I anticipate that I’ll be delighted with it albeit it’s a straightforward medium nib. I normally veer towards italic/music nibs and my real weakness-Flexi nibs. Really good really useful video and great writing sample although the physics bamboozled me! lol

Hey Doodle Bug getting two nibs for this pen is. a really good call. Though I can’t help but feel that the broad nib option would to my mind be the equivalent of a regular medium nib, say with a different nib manufacturer. To my mind the Fabre-Castell medium nib is more like a fine nib but fabulous. Glad I didn’t pick the fine nib option. Really great pen & in my mind superb value for money.

Well not without drama, but I'm now the proud possessor of the SWAT Pen - Faber Castell E-Motion Pure Black. I hung out for the medium & am glad that I did. This seems to be a very fine medium, reminiscent in fact of the Lamy Extra Fine nib. Lovely writer and a great pen in the hand with lovely weight & tactile. Looks cool too. Very pleased but now need to concentrate when I'm ready, on that all elusive perfect flex nib.Perfect pen for anybody who likes a straightforward nib.

    Hi. Nice video review.
I have this pen and really enjoy using it daily.
I hope you can take a look at something I have noticed...
It seems that the inner liner of the cap has somewhat disengaged in that when the cap is secure, you can sort of rotate the main body of the cap back and forth about. 020". I sent my first one back for this "issue", got a replacement, after a couple of days, same thing. I guess this is the norm for this pen cap?
Thanks again for a nice review.

I found this review, and let me tell you, I think this is my what you fountain pen fanatics call "grail pen". I got into using fountain pens about six months ago, got couple of no name chinese ones, which I had to tinker with in order to make them usable.
Then I got some school pens that write beautifully (it's very broad when using them normally, but reverse writing is like extra fine, no skipping, you can literally go through whole cartridge without a skip. And they work on cheap paper of my notebooks).
Then I got some jinhaos, they are great for the price, but I had to do some nib tuning, polishing, even a little grinding on most of them to make them to my liking (which is a good thing for me, I like to tinker and fix stuff and it could come in handy).
Now I'm back in to university at ripe young age of 36, trying to get medical degree, so I do a lot of writing and fountain pens were a game changer in comparison to ball points. I wish there were more supplies here in Serbia, but I get by using Aliexpress and Ebay (especially for inks, there are almost no choices in my country, pelican 4001 sometimes can be found online, faber castell black and royal blue and that's it, and they are overinflated in price like 4-5 euros for 30 ml plus shipping). I have to pinch pennies now that I'm not working full time, so I have to make savings last until the end of studies. Therefore Karkos inks scratches the itch for that multicolored experience on the budget.
In the meantime, I'm thankful for channels like yours, they help me to stay motivated and keep pushing.
I know I'll never own Montblanc 149 because I'm not into that kind of stuff (own something expensive that is more status symbol than a tool), but pens like this Faber Castell are just up my alley. Hopefully one day I'll be able to afford them without feeling guilty.
Until then, keep doing great reviews and other types of videos, your engineering analyses are quite refreshing in the sea of other fp reviews.

it's the same for me in Greece, you can't easily find supplies, thankfully i have found a single store that has some decent stuff. But they are expensive! I keep saying one day Im gonna get a gold nib pen haha, i hope the same for you :D

@@loveyaclouds Thank you. I remember when I was in Greece I found a store that sold art supplies and it was pretty well equipped. I bought some Faber Castell Polychromos pencils, they were less than 1 euro per pencil while over here they were more like 1.5 EUR. I can't remember if it was in Athens or Loutraki, since I was on a group trip.
Unfortunately, I wasn't into fountain pens back then so I wasn't looking for them.

Ok. I'm going to be a pest.
I like posting my caps and this one is no exception.
Have you noticed any finish wear on the end? I have just noticed a wear ring as this seems to be where the cap engages the body when posted.
    Bit bummed.

    • @Doodlebud
      @Doodlebud  3 года назад +1

I haven't had mine long enough to see any wear yet. The body is anodized which is a hard coating, & there is a cap liner which is plastic. If it's designed properly, the cap liner should be sliding onto the body when posting. Put I also recal Faber saying it's a non posting pen, so the fact that is does post is a feature but not an specific design feature. Thanks for bringing it up 👍

I currently own the emotion in pear wood, medium nib.
Now, say that I wake up in the middle of the night and find a burglar loitering at the end of my bed. I fumble around on my bedside, looking frantically for a weapon to defend myself. My hand lands on the emotion in pear wood, medium nib. Assuming an overhand, full grip on the pen, what depth of puncture wound could I produce?
And more importantly, would the swat pen (assuming a bold nib on it) achieve a deeper wound because of its tactical advantage?
Or would I just look cooler wielding such a magnificent instrument?
    Um, hypothetically, of course!

That is true that you would want to use median instead of mean to help account for extremes at either end of the data set. Unfortunately, the only info I found was using the generic "average" term. I suspect that due to the extreme vastness of the universe, that even the extremely dense area, the mean & median are probably very close to each other.
