    Everyone was brilliant in this movie! I cry everytime I see it and am reminded to live everyday to the fullest when I see it. I always felt when Rusty took after Rocky she saw what she felt like inside-messed up, sort of a reminder when they got into it.
    I don't know if she won any awards fro her performance-to me this was the performance of her lifetime. It is such a natural, real, and intelligent film-almost like watching real life unfold.

    When my cousin was about 7 years old, he watched this movie and got really sad. He felt so sorry for Rocky and always asked everyone what will happen to him, if he'll be ok. My aunt didn't want him to watch it, but he just sat there and watched the movie wide-eyed, nobody could do anything^^ Of course my cousin cried at the end, but after all, he was really impressed by the story.

    To me the saddest scene in this movie with the exception of Rocky Dennis passing away is the"funny mirrors" scene. It shows Rocky looking "normal".Hard to watch, but it proves life CAN make anyone or anything appear different from what it originally appears to be. This may be the reason these mirrors were no longer used in carnivals.A good life lesson to remember.

      Glad to see that someone else noticed that part when she thinks that he had overslept, going to the door of his room to wake him up, pausing when he doesn't stir at all when she calls out to him to wake up.
      The look on her face at the moment says it all, then in the background, the Grateful Dead's "Ripple" is playing, with the words "There's a road, no simple highway, in between the dawn and the dark of the night. And if you go, no one may follow. That path is for your steps alone."
      Incredibly poignant.

    This song ('Someone To Watch Over Me' by Katie Belle & The Belle Rangers - 2001) works better than the 'Mask' film end credits song "The Promised Land' by Springsteen on the Director's Cut of the film that they replaced Bob Seger's great song 'Roll Me Away' which was featured during the end credits in the original theatrical release of the film in 1985. This film has become almost obscure now because they took all of Seger's songs out and replaced them with Springsteen's and they stopped producing the original version of the film on DVD. It's now a very rare DVD! The Director's Cut didn't sell that well because they put a hefty price tag on it for a few minutes of 2 extra scenes. The truth is Bruce wanted way too much money to license his song 'Born To Run' and rightfully the studio balked and refused to pay that huge licensing fee. Seger's songs FIT the film because his music encapsulated the biker ethic and their philosophy - something Springroll has never represented or understood.

    • @kaylapreciousprincessarmst785
      @kaylapreciousprincessarmst785 Год назад

      Yes, but the real Rusty said Rocky had never listened to Segar or even knew who he was, so in terms of a tribute to Rocky, it would've been more appropriate to put in music that he, himself, enjoyed. Sometimes you have to spend money to make money, and this movie was successful, so it's not as if they would've gone broke over it. Not that I don't like Segar's music; I love it. Rocky was just a Springsteen fan, according to his mother.

    • @CiscoDuck
      @CiscoDuck Год назад

      @@kaylapreciousprincessarmst785 Yeah, I suppose you're right. It's just a movie and a lot of the story line in it and many of the events depicted in the film are pure fiction without any factual basis. The version with Springsteen's tunes doesn't have the punch or connection with the story at all like Bob Seger's tunes did. Maybe it would have had that been the 1st version we all saw when the film was released originally. When I tried to watch it with Springsteen's songs it was such a rub it was barely watchable. It just was not the same flick. I doubt that many people even care at this point.

    • @kaylapreciousprincessarmst785
      @kaylapreciousprincessarmst785 Год назад

      @@CiscoDuck Oh, I agree. I think Bob's songs fit the theme of the lifestyle perfectly. I enjoyed that soundtrack. But, again, I'm a fan of both singers, so it didn't matter to me who they used. I just think they should've been willing to spend a little money as a tribute to Rocky. After all, they were making money off of his life through this movie. But, I get what you're saying, though.

    • @CiscoDuck
      @CiscoDuck Год назад

      @@kaylapreciousprincessarmst785 That's show biz! When has Hollyweird ever really been interested in portraying the real truth and nothing but the facts? Never! Ha! They don't care about Rocky or his mom or any of their viewers. Their interest only lies in the bottom line and that's the almighty dollar. Like someone in the world of newspaper publishing said a hundred years ago, "Print the lie. Sell the myth. To hell with the facts or the truth!" ;>)

      Scuba Steve, I am not 100 percent sure but it sounds like the Flying Burrito Brothers from the 1960s or the late Gram Parsons. But I don't know for sure.

    This is the movie Cher should have won√ an Oscar for. Moonstruck was a good movie & THEY ~ the powers above~
    Tried to make it up to her.
    This movie cannot be described! Thanks Cher~ your music is good but not really my style. But you're a fantastic actor

      En España esta peli la repusieron muchas veces en la TV a finales de los 80 y principios de los 90. La ponian siempre de noche, o al menos asi lo recuerdo. Me apenaba ver como acababa y me motivaba ver el coraje que mostraba Cher con su personaje. Pelicula muy necesaria en mi opinión, se le ven mucho los mimbres en los que se sustenta de la historia real en la que se basa. No es nada ingenua a pesar del tiempo que tiene por pertenecer a una producción hollywoodiense ochentera.
