RIP DAVID STERN. Lost but never forgotten
Stern is the best commissioner in sports. When you look at where the nba was before his tenure and now it's not even close. He transformed the association into a global show that is fun to watch. He orchestrated countless TV deals to enhance viewing globally which in turn exposed other countries to this beautiful game. Under Stern's tenure the league has gained traction globally as so many foreign players are playing and starring in this league. Did he make mistakes and could he have handles things better? Of course but the fact that the clippers sold for 2 billion dollars just goes to show what Stern has done for this league and hopefully Adam silver can continue that going forward.
he also turned every NBA player into Oscar worthy actors.
wolf7elite7
Don't even get me started on football.
No, the players did. If it wasnt for jordan, bird,
Magic, and several other players from the 80-90s basketball wouldnt be where it is. These players REVOLUTIONIZED it
+dante hyndman they had a significant part in popularizing the nba no doubt. But don't be ignorant and just think the players had everything to do with how popular the nba is. Stern made the nba global so people across the world could witness how great these players are. That and the fact that all those players you mentioned all thanked Stern for his part in making the nba what it is today.
***** me butthurt? Please! I was just telling the truth.
The man who gave the NBA the most entertaining sport in the world, but also introduced us to Michael Jordan. Undeniably one of the greatest iconic players in all of sports and the slam dunk contest. He will be missed. Thank you, Mr. David Stern. Hearts are still sorrowing by the entire NBA family.
R.I.P., even with vetoing the Chris Paul trade, he still shaped the league into what it is today.
Thank you David Stern. Without you, there wouldn't be an NBA
Technically, there actually would be an "NBA" without him but it wouldn't have grown so much to what it is today. That's why his term as commission is respected so much. Other than the "behind closed curtains" things he did for financial purposes.
Its24x Actually the NBA probably would've been bankrupt/taken down by drugs and player strikes. That is all the stuff Stern prevented in the early years on his tenure. It explains all that in the video though. But yes your right, If it was still around it wouldn't be near as big.
Its24x if it wasn't for Stern then the NBA would've been driven straight to the ground
What do think Adam Sliver will do to the NBA?
He is a well respected commissioner unlike roger godell. And I hope Adam silver doesn't screw the nba up
why is david stern being hated. he made the nba what is it today. if he didnt basketball woudnt be popular, so be thankful.
more the players such as micheal, bird, magic, kobe and lebron have made the game more popular, u cant make any sport popular without great players.
he was pretty bad towards the end of his career that's why people hate him so much
just here, rest in peace david stern, you will be missed
David Stern will never be forgotten for the 02 Kings vs Lakers rigged game. Some people were mad cause he vetoed that one trade. The NBA owned the Hornets so he had the rights to do so
David Stern did a great job. He made the NBA. Without him i don't know what would happen. The only thing i don't like is the refs being so soft.
R.i.p Stern 😢
Rest In Peace 🙏🏼🙌🏼
Damn russell, magic, bird, michael, duncan, kobe, and bron in the same video. Pullin out all the stops for david stern
And still some of us still find something about David Stern to hate about..
RIP David Stern
From fans of basketball all over the world, thank you David Stern for all your services and sacrifices for a tremendous league. I wish all the best for you. I hope that Commissioner Adam Silver will continue to improve the best league in sports by following your great footsteps. Thank You.
David Stern is the NBA champion. He will always will be. He changed the game for all the hard work he did. He took pride in it. He may had some controversial moments, but that's normal for a commissioner in sports. But if there is the greatest sports commissioner of all time, it's him. I have never been more proud to be NBA fan because of him. If it was it for him, I would never enjoy being an NBA fan. I say this to all the NBA fans from all over the world. As a Celtics fan, no matter what fan you are, no matter where you from, we are all one NBA family because of David Stern.
Love him or hate him he did a lot for both the NBA and the sport of basketball. This guy is a serious legend and many of us may not have even heard of the NBA may it not have been for this man.
come back after knowing the death of David Stern. RIP for a legend who never played but made a huge impact in NBA and basketball sport
Thank you David Stern! Congratulations and thank you for everything you did for the NBA!
All great leaders become corrupt toward the end of their reign. But people sometimes forget everything they've done prior
Glad they gave him his flowers while he was living. 🌸
David Stern did an amazing job but I still hate him for blocking that CP3 trade to LAL.
Most memorable thing David Stern did was Veto a Laker Trade helping making them shit for years to come
***** If you were a Lakers fan you probably would've been mad too. But anyways lets just appreciate the game and love it for years to come.
fortunately i'm not a lakers fan so when Chris paul trade was veto'd i really didn't care also Referees been rigging games before the rules of basketball was even conceived
If you're 13 years old maybe
dannywpt been following basketball faithfully for little over 15yrs
I could really use some fried chicken right about now.
David did so much for this league, huge respect to him.
R.I.P. DAVID STERN 😔
David Stern is the reason why the NBA is still going till today. He's the reason for the financial success of the association. It's enough to say that he was the commissioner during the careers of Michael Jordan and Phill Jackson.
Its people who started watching NBA recently and only know about the mainstream players that are hating on David Stern.. Anybody who has been watching NBA for a while would know the great things this man did to this league..
Rip David stern
Stern did what he had to. He is the reason the league is so great. I'm hoping silver exceeds what stern has done.
4:18 THE MOTHERFUCKIN KING!!
Don't you mean at 3:17
na man 4:17 !!
MvzZAinc at least duncan doesnt have to leave a team to win rings XD
***** Duncan never played for cleveland, theres a reason they have had 4 1# picks in the last 11 years. Terrible franchise.
MvzZAinc lol I know tim duncan never played for clevland XD what im saying is when tim duncan had trouble in sa and they werent winning he still stuck with there team when lebron had trouble in clevland the first time and in miami he split he cant win a ring without like 5 other all stars on the same team
I Guess 1984 was a year that will be instilled in NBA History as the best year and the beginning of things to come.
Thank You David Stern
NBA CHAMPINE!
👏👏😎 STERN!!!! The MAN!!!!
R.I.P
It's not a career, but a legend's path
He made the history and the dream.
Man where Allen Iverson!!! I wanna hear him talk about Stern
Thank you David stern coming from a kings fan
I love this video
he is the greatest commissioner of all time
The goat at 4:17
The Slim Reaper . This is undeniably100 percent true.
You all spelled 3:46 wrong
***** i do agree with you, bill russell is the GOAT, but ive always been watching kobe and the lakers play ever since i was young
Ummm did u mean 3:43
***** well when bill played there were only two rounds of playoffs so its not that difficult to do
RIP 🙏🏻
thanks David
RIP
You can really tell who the casual fans are by those ensinuating that "magic and bird" did all the work in revitalizing the league
ok that why he was a Knicks fan growing up. Worked in NYC
I know that some people don't like him very much. I imagine that there were moments like the Chris Paul fiasco that may have hurt your view of him (especially if you happen to be a Lakers fan). But I want to formally recognize his achievements right here because he made so many dreams come true while promoting the best sport in the world to people around the world. Lets take a moment to thank David Stern for what he brought to the NBA. (This comment wasn't rigged) ;) :D
Keep going Bill! I know this is about Stern but c'mon Bill! :D
RIP 🙏 🙏
2002 Western Conference Finals
You the real MVP!
R.I.P True Legend
Dope vid
1. Moving "franchises" between cities was sometimes criminal (Seattle)
2. Blocking trades was also criminal (CP3)
It has been 8 years since you commented this, and Chris Paul still dosen't have a ring 🤣
I like how they used every star from each Era to give a speech. Only one that might have been missing is Doctor J and obviously Wilt but cant really do anything about him
David Stern is the real MVP
Show some respect to David Stern he's one of the founding fathers of nba, just like the hokages in konoha.
I feel like I'm watching a fucking History Channel documentary.
Giant shoes that can't be filled but maybe someone or a few will carry his ideas into the future
He may have been an asshole but you cannot deny the amazing things Stern did to take the NBA to a new level. And Adam Silver is a great predecessor - he seems more in tune with the themes of today and progressive enough to take things into the new era.
noticed all the HOF players giving their imput, including future ones Timmy Mamba amd King
the goat of all CEO.
2:38 is that Gus Fring on the top left of David stern???!
Yeah and Carlton Banks is on his top right.
there should be a David-Stern-Trophy
Great commissioner
David Stern rigging of the bulls, lakers is over now Silver must restore the system
David Stern Career Retrospective : Shit.
Old Sacramento fan?
Its24x Probably just a Seattle fan. They'll get over it.
Its24x
Believe me, a lot more people than just Sacramento fans think 2002 was rigged.. In fact, BASICALLY EVERYONE EXCEPT LAKER TARDS.
Actually a Raptors Fan.
SLBaller23
Dawg, you're making us Raptors fans look bad. If it weren't for stern, we wouldn't even have a franchise.
Basketball one of the best sports next to football(soccer).
whats the name of the music in the background?

It's nice to see that they brought in Morgan Freeman to talk.
LET'S GO CAVS!!!!!!!!
Rip

Jordan needs a tailor and LeBron needs a fashion consultant. Now Kobe, he knows how to dress.
21
I won't get into was he good or bad, or his ethics, or any other questions about his tenure, or if he even deserves the hall of fame...all I want to know is why didn't he have to wait like the players (isn't if 5ish years?) to get inducted?
This is from:
www.hoophall.com/enshrinement-process/
Guidelines For Nomination and Election Into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame
ELIGIBILITY
Candidates must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible for Enshrinement into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (hereafter BHOF):
Player: A player must be fully retired for five years before being eligible for Enshrinement. He/she may then be considered for Enshrinement in the sixth year of retirement. Should a player come out of retirement for a short period of time, as defined by the BHOF, his/her case and eligibility for Enshrinement shall be reviewed on an individual basis.
Coach: A coach must be either fully retired for five years or, if still an active coach, have coached as either a fulltime assistant or head coach on the high school and/or college and/or professional level for a minimum of 25 years. That person will then be considered for Enshrinement in the sixth year of retirement or 26th year of active coaching.
Referee: A referee must be fully retired for five years or, if still an active referee, have been an active referee for a minimum of 25 years. That person will then be considered for Enshrinement in the sixth year of retirement or 26th year of refereeing.
Contributor: A person is eligible for Enshrinement as a contributor at any time for significant contributions to the game of basketball. What constitutes a "significant contribution" shall be determined by the BHOF, its Screening Committee(s) or Honors Committee(s).
David Stern probably counts as a Contributor.
He even said he failed vancouver (my home). He Screwed seattle, and he fail due one there in canada, Memphis's attendance is no where compared to Vancouvers until this year in 6 seasons we averaged at least 15,000 people a game and we were still the worst team ever, it shows you vancouver loved Basketball, and now its gone I don't even are about the NBA. Raptors lured me in to watch the playoffs, and that was it.
Let's not forget he killed The Sonics!
Music on 4:30 to 5:15?
Damn.... no matter how great defender you are.... if u mess with jordan, he will keep coming back at you.
Damn, someone in MJ’s inner circle has got to tell him his suits are terrible. Like he’s wearing Yao Ming’s suit or something.
All David Stern does is make rules to rig the game of basketball
Kobe look class
Still gets no credit. It's cool how the NBA got the some of greatest to ever play the game have a few words about his impact.
Why Was Kareem Not In The Video
I cant be the only one who thought Bill Russell said "passion for the gay" at the beginning.
The machine actually has some people believing Stern did something. LoL. 'Adults' ... they're so entertaining, and so gullible.
THE MACHINE GUYS
They forgot rigging the draft
Look the Michael Jordan Shoes.
Jordan's suit looked really weird. Kobe's looked the best.
Hi Lebron
what the hell is lebron wearing, but shiee i look fresh as FFFFF
