This video is for people who are actually interested in making a custom figure. If you don't want to cut the figure apart that is perfectly fine and you don't have to like this video.
They need to make more godzilla figures that are articulated and dont cost a arm and a leg, this is the exact reason i switched fandoms, however i do still have a soft spot
Honestly, I think ruining a figure like that is silly, but looking at it from the other side, it's a good way to make an articulated figure if you don't have enough money for a Sh Monsterarts. Good tutorial dude.
Tip: also have some white clay in the middle where the ball joint is to cover up it and get some paint and paint it over the clay with the cover of the skin of the figure cut a tiny little line like a circle over the painted clay like s h monster arts figures repeate it for all body limbs so it doesn't look like every part that the ball joint is look like it's just stretched limbs this is for the people that want it to more look like a hiya toys or sh monsterarts or neca figure
To make the ball joints less obvious, would it be better to cover them up with thin clay and making them deeper? While yes this would limit the ball joints articulation a bit, this would all around benefit the look of the figure, right?
extremely useful vid! i was looking on RUclips seeing anyone had a tutorial to make kaiju figures have more articulation because i was customize a Godzilla minus one figure. I don't care if how many likes this video has make it viral!!
Finally found a helpful video!! I’ve been searching for hours cause I really want to articulate my Bandai Anguirus but having trouble what parts to cut and stuff
I reccomend you to use epoxy clay it will work better and it doesn't require any glue but it may be heavy when it dries so i reccomend to use just enough for the joint to stick on the clay!
I did this with a shin godzilla Bandai figure i had and didn’t have the clay but it came out good I used hot glue but I like it thanks for sharing on how to do this very helpful!
the problem is that the joints are pretty far out, so when you connect them there are these awkward gaps in between the joints, this can be easily fixed be putting some kind of cloth to cover it up though.
lol I bought those same joints for a different project. Didn't work out. Might have to try this. Last year I was planning on adding articulation to mine, and giving him actual spinning blades. Heh.. Dunno If I'll still do that, probably not. If I do this I'm definitely gonna try filling the gaps.
Now i could make cheap action figure without buy it for a overprice :> TY FOR THE TOTURIAL, I WILL MAKE ULTIMA, DESTOROYAH, SKULL CRAWLER, and maybe minus one? To be this cool cheap budget!
I think ima try doing this to a small kiryu vinyl i have Its soft and already has decent articulation, however i feel i could add to it It only has: swivel at head, swivel at both arms, waste swivel.and tail swivel No legs Ima try giving it elbow, knee, top of leg,and maybe a ball joint at the middle of the tail Perhaps a hinge at the jaw via chopping it off, adding a bit of clay inside, then feeding a wire through to mimic a hinge Thanks for the tutorial dude :D
Okay, solid idea but it needs some work. The putty needs sanding and painting, the joints also need insetting more cus at the moment our cyborg chicken looks a bit like a giraffe. It's not idea but sometimes when making customs, you do have to sacrifice some articulation for aesthetics. Unless you really want to get in deep with the customizations.
Be very persice with the glue. You don't want it going on your fingers. And also don't spend to much money on this type of stuff. I've spent over 3000 dollars probably on just godzilla stuff😭
@@Atomic_Mellow_Official thank you for the tip it was helpful and I have a question do you think of buying the hiya toys Godzilla 2019 ver anytime soon?
This is great because I want to make a custom Bandai movie monster series custom anguirus, but what would you use to cut of the parts that you would put joints in???
Just push the ball joints deeper with less clay inside the limbs. I made a figure like this about 2 years ago and it hasn't fallen apart or became dirty. Just make sure you dust it off once in a while
I actually have a way,I did this with my kiryu If the figures mouth is tiny, just carefully chop the lower jaw off and stick it back on with blue tack to allow movement If the figures mouth is large, chop the lower jaw off however this time, stick some clay to the roof of the mouth, poke a hole on each side 9f the jaw and stick a thin stick of something through like a wire or plastic rod, then wrap the clay around the rod and your done.
I really like the idea, it’s just… to get all the stuff and pay for all of it is pretty expensive. Not to be mean to your creation, but I found that making it out of some clay and wire didn’t cost as much. A good starting point for people who want these fast though
Is there a way to make the joints not too exposed? I see your gigan’s neck is exposed and I don’t want it to happen to my figure (your figure is not bad i like it)
Yo i bought the same ball joints from that before this video was made prob lol although i dont think i used them that much to make customs Edit: just my experience but when i bought these ball joints from amazon a while ago i decided to actually use them and and they broke lol if you see this again was yours fine?

Can you like paint the clay to make it better
I am only doing it for the mecha Kaijus only and some of duplicates I might get.
@danarkh makes it hints that good so he’s going to make something that’s probably good then ones before
Mlcan you use hot glue?
THANKS BRO IM GONNA MAKE MY BOOTLEG LOOK LIKE A GODZILLA FROM NECA
Not a foolproof idea but a good starting point for anyone wanting to customize a figure for more articulation
Pretty much this.
Finally someone who shows what you need to make a custom

I mean playmates are DECENT
Hiya toys is only 50 bucks ig

@thegreentrex599 lol
They have those

Good tutorial dude.
This man about to end Sh figurearts whole carrier
This helps me out SO much! Now I don't have to look for overpriced shma figures anymore, instead I can just make my own figures! 😁

Dude! This helped me so much with a bootleg kong figure! Thank you so much for the tutorial its super good for adding articulation
I wanna see an articulation video on that figure, it looks GREAT
To make the ball joints less obvious, would it be better to cover them up with thin clay and making them deeper? While yes this would limit the ball joints articulation a bit, this would all around benefit the look of the figure, right?
Yeah just push the ball joints down deeper.
I want to do this but I will probably use actual model kit ball joints because I don’t want the large gaps, thanks so much!
Idk though, cuz the Lego ones are stronger and model kit joints break when I used em
Yup
Yep nevermind, i tried this with my kiryu and it completely failed and it’s all cut up now :/
what kiryu did u use
I did it with a kiryu and it worked very well (even though it gave em some weird legs)
extremely useful vid! i was looking on RUclips seeing anyone had a tutorial to make kaiju figures have more articulation because i was customize a Godzilla minus one figure. I don't care if how many likes this video has make it viral!!
This might actually help me make a custom E 102 gamma thx for the vid, I appreciate it!
Thanks dude, can really use this for making custom as well
Finally found a helpful video!! I’ve been searching for hours cause I really want to articulate my Bandai Anguirus but having trouble what parts to cut and stuff
Now I know how to articulate figures that can’t articulate
Thanks for the tutorial!
definitely gonna use this on those ripoff godzilla amphibia and terretris figures
Now I don’t have to spend $500 for some Sh monsterarts figure. Thank you for saving my wallet
This is amazing, it works amazingly
Bro this helped a lot thanks I made my own gigan but it was the final wars one.
It looks like mecha gigan,I love it
gigan is already a robot

That's awesome
Thanks for this vid I made my own vid how to customize and did the same way as you and it was very successful thank you 😊
I own 2 shma the 2004 and 1989 and in the articulation department i approve of this also gonna try with the burning Godzilla bandai vinyl
the problem is that the joints are pretty far out, so when you connect them there are these awkward gaps in between the joints, this can be easily fixed be putting some kind of cloth to cover it up though.
All you have to do is push the joints down deeper into the clay
@@Atomic_Mellow_Officialhow can I add articulate to the mouth? Like it to be able to open
Cool man
I think one more thing you could do is put ruber where you can see the joints just to make it look a bit more realistic but nice job either way
Also you should make a tutorial on how to make the buildings
Can I ask what you used to get such clean cuts in the figures parts?
2:29 well looks like I'm going to wear some nice boots
I want gigan boots now.
are there any alternative's besides the Bandai movie monster figures?
Now I will use this on the Ride Goji custom that I mentioned on your Skar King short

Last year I was planning on adding articulation to mine, and giving him actual spinning blades. Heh.. Dunno If I'll still do that, probably not.

Filling the gaps help a lot with the outcome. It helps the ball joint stay in place so when you try to connect it, it will not move
when i saw gigan, i immedietly heard "hey guys" inside my head.
Lol monster island buddies
I mostly just needed to know what ball joints to use for my destroyah thx
Now i could make cheap action figure without buy it for a overprice :> TY FOR THE TOTURIAL, I WILL MAKE ULTIMA, DESTOROYAH, SKULL CRAWLER, and maybe minus one? To be this cool cheap budget!
I recommend putting the joints deeper so it will hide more of the joint
While lego joints work, I recommend handling them with care as they can break easily
NICE but do I fill the hole body or not? And THANK YOU FOR TUTORIAL!
I just made mine now I have to let it dry😎 wish me luck!
ive been thinking about doing this but with megalon since we dont have good megalon figures lol
AWESOME
SO USEFULL
Fantastic
Cool. Next question, after doing all of this work, how do you get the joints to not look like crap?
Idk just don't mess with them I guess. Try not to get glue on them
to make the joints less obvious should i make the clay and joint go a bit deeper?
Yes
For me id rather keep the limited posability than have a ton of cracks in him
How to make mouth articulations for the custom figures?

ima try this on a king ghidorah figure

I could also paint the white clay aswell
Update:alr so I did this and it turned out well, however it gave them some goofy ah legs
@atomic mellow do you know if how msny clay do you have to use like the whole thing or buy two or three?
Usually around 2. Depends on the figure
Thanks a lot! Im gonna modify my 2004 mechagodzilla kiryu, i wanted its legs to move.
Good job bro💪 I got a question tho what did you use to cut the figures
Scissors. But be careful with them. For the figure and yourself
@@Atomic_Mellow_Official thanks man
I like it and all but I find the joints really revealing could you maybe tell me a way to show them off a little less?
They are nice but the only problem is the gaps they leave, you can make something there if you want to tho
Okay, solid idea but it needs some work. The putty needs sanding and painting, the joints also need insetting more cus at the moment our cyborg chicken looks a bit like a giraffe. if your a lego fan like me the ball joints he used were the lego ball joint
No,they weren't,they are knock offs, and can break easier
Lego mixed joints never came in black, ever
They were always shades of grey.
This is why I used official lego ball joints for my custom.
@@Trollboi_farded69420 true but lego only has copyright to the name not the bricks so they can’t be called ripoffs

How would you add articulation on the jaw? Would you use another ball joint for it also would it be fine using a wire for the jaw too?
You could try to use a white to articulate the jaw but sometimes the outcome is usually bad for me
Add some clay too the roof of the mouth, put 2 holes on either side, then put the wire through the clay and jaw

That specific brand is air dry, so it’s good

I feel like getting a 2nd best playmates godzilla 2024 and adding articulation to the elbows and knees
How do you make the ball joints hidden?
@Atomicmellow How can you make the limbs the same length? Say for example the legs. How do you make it even so it stands correctly?

Repainting the with clay should make it better
Yeah
so, the thing that join toghether articulations are called "BALL JOINTS"?

How do you cut off the parts? What tools do you need?
Plain old siccors. The Bandai material in soft enough
