yeah if they were ordinary pet indoor birds taken out randomly they definitely wouldn't come back and not because they wouldn't want to but more because they don't have the skill base and confidence to do so. These birds are properly free flight trained which means their brains have developed differently to pet indoor birds, this is where people don't realise why some are lost etc. www.adventuresofroku.com has more detailed info on it if you wanted to check it out in the educational section :D glad you liked the video :)
throwing birds should never ever be a practice, main reason being is flight should be a choice. If a bird chooses not to fly it's because of a reason, there may possibly be dangers that the owners are unaware of and casting them can put them in danger and damage the relationship. Or they may prefer to just be with you in the moment, the focus should always be on the bird and what they want, and if thats to chill out with you then so be it :P
Great video, to be honest thought people clipped their wings so they couldn't fly. But obviously not, great to see them flying and coming back, but how do you get them to come back on their very first flight? Sue uk. Would love one
I would be so scared the birds would fly away. Those birds are beautiful and I hope they have long happy lives with each other and their owners. I wan't a bird really badly but my mom says we can't have any pets and she doesn't want a bird because she doesn't want to keep it in a cage all its life. I told her birds don't have to live in cages and they can have a kind of open cage in our house but she still says no.

As a side note to this topic. NEVER , NEVER , EVER have cooking pots or pans in your house that are coated with TEFLON. If by chance you overheat these pots/pans and the TEFLON burns off, you will kill every bird in your house. I know, I lost two birds that way. Rainbow was a Scarlet McCaw. The most loving creature I have ever had the pleasure to have in my house. And Pepper who was a neglicted Patogonia that I rescued from a workshop, where everybody threw things at her cage. I was never able to get Pepper to not attack me but I can say she was never harmed in my care. Best I ever got was her on my hand with a pair of welders gloves. Damn I miss those Birds. But i digress NEVER EVER HAVE TELFON COATED POTS, PANS, SKILLETS IN YOUR HOUSE IF YOU OWN BIRDS.
*Today my Red ring necked flew for the first time & its been 9 hours or so he is'nt coming back now, I know that but the weather its raining. He was just like a family. 😧😥*
Have you had birds before? Because I can almost guarantee most people don’t want these birds once they get them. They are so loud you can’t even imagine. If one bit you with the intention of harming you it would hurt like hell. So as a bird person I don’t recommend these to beginner parrot owners. But one can dream! I still want a Macaw some day.
My brother (that doesn’t live with me) had an eclectus parrot. He got it as a 1 month old baby but after a few months he couldn’t care for it anymore so he gave it to us and now it’s ours but we are trying to teach it how to free fly.(my brother cut it’s wings ): so it never got to fly or anything) so do you think it will learn how to free fly? (It’s been a year now so it has grown some wings)❤️🌸 I’ve been trying to teach it to fly to me but it doesn’t even listen :(
I can kiss all them birds hold them in my hands if their owners doesn't mind so cute I'm a bird lover everyone I got 5 birds at home 4 budgies one love bird.💞
I wouldn't want to jump into the seat of a flying plane as it would scare the shit out of me too not to mention be extremely high risk. This is because I have zero to no understanding of the processes involved in flying the plane nor the brain development/knowledge to know the ins and outs. Free flying a parrot is the same concept, it's not a random decision to let your birds fly or rely on recall training/relationship (this is Not free flight training) doing that is exactly what you said a risk that Should never ever ever be made. for more detailed information www.adventuresofroku.com/Educational.php has the answers.
Adventures of Roku I know, I also know there is a lot of training the birds to do something like this, it would just scare me to let my bird into an area where it could potentially fly away, get attacked etc.
Is it easy to learn a parrot fly and then come back? Dont you afraid of them being away and "free"?? Do they know that they cant manage to survive out there maybe?? Great thing that you are doing to them! Really great! Congrats!
we have far more hawks and raptors here in australia I can assure you, they are out every day we are out. If your thinking is that you need a location free of raptors to free fly then it shows you have the wrong understanding of what is actually involved in free flight and the factors influencing natural behaviours of both raptors and parrots. Raptors are not the highest risk in free flight, in fact its incredibly low on the list in terms of risk (when done correctly) for detailed info please visit www.adventuresofroku.com/Educational.php
How did you do that? In Asia, specific in my country, people often use the way to train falconry to apply to them, or you just treat them like a close friend and they can fly freely when they get ready. How do they not leave us? Thanks
they are too young at the moment but yes they can, they would make a hybrid macaw called a Harlequin. However it's only by their choice, I don't believe in forcing them or expecting them to pair and have babies. Its always their choice.
Seeing larger parrots free flight is just a whole different feeling.
It’s so nice when you start free flying the macow
Roku and korra are very lucky😘you're taking good care of each birds👌👌

MrAnthism i wrote a bit more in detail here explaining your questions :) facebook.com/Roku2013/posts/1207976912629954:0
What makes macaws want to stay and not keep flying away?
I would like to see a hyacinth and catalina macaw around so the macaw family would be complete
Where I live there are a lot of hawks. If I owned birds I don’t know if I would be confident enough to let them free fly...
we have far more hawks and raptors here in australia I can assure you, they are out every day we are out.
