- Deep Purple from September 21st 1993 in Bregenz, Austria with rare footage of the band rehearsing for The Battle Rages On Tour with the following tracks:
01. Anya
02. A Twist In The Tale
03. The Battle Rages On Видеоклипы
What a chemistry. Absolutely amazing lineup. Even when Ian Gillan is not in his prime they are absolutely incredible. What a musicianship. Every musician has a strong identity. You can easily recognise them. Bow down! Best band ever.
Ian Paice is absolutely brilliant!
Blackmore makes such fantastic talent look,so,easy. Love Ian Paige's drumming and Jon Lord's Organ as always is,a,treasure missed so much, He was amazing. Purple can never be replaced. Too bad all the ego,BS broke them up. They could have produced so much more. They were one of the only bands I ever slept over night to get tickets for. I,was so glad I saw them with the original line up.
mk2?
I repeat "Too bad all the ego, broke them up.They could have produced so much more."You are totally true.
This is fantastic 👍
So 100% true. Mrk2 was FAR above Led Sabbath and other bands
Remember this is a rehearsal. They´re not performing, but finding their feet with new material. And they still kick ass. What a group, what amazing talent. Sad they´re gone their separate ways now.
Absolutely right. It doesn't sound like Ian is singing full out; it sounds like he's saving his voice for the show. TBRO tour had some brilliant performances and Gillan was always spot on. Just check out Stuttgart official recording as an example, or last show with Ritchie in Helsinki.
Well one is in heaven, the other is in fantasy land renaissance and the other three are still kicking ass Purple
Band playing so well here. Ian Paice !!!! Love the last minute of The battle rages on. Paice is so at the heart of this song. Ritchie even makes an effort ... despite contemplating his departure.
Great! Best line-up deep purple ever had!
Deep Purple are sort of relatives to me...I grew up listening to Purple Family bands for years and years and I saw DP live in my hometown during this tour. Nowadays I'm into a gazillion of different bands and I don't listen to their music as often as I used to, but when it happens it feels like going home, returning to a fantastic place I left so long ago...and still their songs sound fresh and inspired...it must mean something
This is precisely my feeling, too.
I feel you.
this period early 90's Ritchie was playing his best. His playing on the Stranger in Us All album is phenomenal
I agree with you totally
His playing on Slaves and Masters was brilliant too
@@garyunsworth726 Slaves and Masters is superb!
Yes, I concur too! He was on fire!
Ok, but what a angry face he had!
Ian Paice .... the absolute best rock drummer in the business
robert shanks 😂😂😂😂😂
by far....
Absolutely correct
Agreed. Fabulous player. (But what is that on his head? Must be glued on!!!) Seriously, what an incredible drummer.
So exciting! I saw mkII for the first and last time in Forlì, same 1993 tour. I consider myself a lucky man to have attended one of their concerts. Even if we'll never see them together again, their music and performances will never die.
Ritchie's never satisfied. Harmful? Perfectionist! :D
Battle Rages On is a great underrated album, one of the best post 1984 reunion!
Smile Ritchie. Legendary band.
Ritchie enjoying every minute of it.
😂
I saw them live last time at this period... great MKII bis bis..? Tris? Thanks, Nice to see my favorite band dressed like a 10 years child LOL.. Seriously, Thanks, I love Deep Purple
For me Ian Paice is Deep Purple. Only he stays in band all times long.
A great vid! DP sounded really good. I have to say Ian Paice is just so smooth...the nuance in his playing comes out well in the video. Nice to see the band having a jam without all the frills.
Love the raw sound on this one!
They sound incredible! I’ve always loved this band.
Fantastic
Paice is absolutely killing it!
I think The Battle Rages On was a solid LP and very underrated.
The title track is so Djenty as far as the riff is concernd.
Blackmore called that album " The cattle grazes on"
"Solid" is not good enough. It's among Top 5
Battle Rages On is much better than Masters & Slaves. M&S was a very uninspired record. Everyone blamed JL Turner, but I think Blackmore is to blame.
Its good but the recycled rainbow riffs…
Anya is such a great song.
So they start right off with one of my favorite songs on the album. Great material here, matched with great performance. Gonna have to play this video a lot. Thank you for the post.
Regardless of all the customary tantrums/strops etc., Ian Paice always remains a consummate pro - a truly magnificent drummer/musician! \m/
Ian Paice on the drums...YES!
Agree. Paice is one of the drumming greats of that era. To me, he definitely seems to be the guy here that is really pushing the band and working very hard to keep the energy levels high. His fast snare riff at the end of Battle Rages On (around 14.00) is just so "Paice" - superb. Perhaps he was just trying to push past how much Gillan and Blackmore hated each other at that point.

LORD and PAICE carried deep purple....
the gillan - blackmore tantrums....
the hughes - bolin drug blowouts....
I really enjoyed seeing those production rehearsals, that version they played of The Battle Rages on was brilliant, Blackie's solos in that song were so on point, and yet during the tour, he'd often throw to Jon to do phrase each back and forth, totally impromtu whereas here ,he just plays the solo all the way, his playing is so realxed and inventive, his guitar work here is what I would have liked to have heard in the shows, but hes a complex guy, there is a reason he does these unpredictable things, and maybe we will never understand why, but at the end of the day he is a phenominal guitarist, one I have so much respect for, high standards, always pushing the boundaries........These guys were a force!! I can never get enough!! The whole band played much better on this tour than the Perfect Strangers tours in the '85 era, much better tempos, Ian's voice was in better shape, and the Battle Rages on as an album I think is easily overlooked, its a strong album with some great songs on it, Title track, Anya, Lick it up, Talk about love, Twist in the Tale.........just brilliant, thank you for posting this footage.
thanks for sharing this piece of history!
I was at the concert in Milano, same tour, last time with Blackmore.
I can feel now the exact emotion of that moment....
This is historic footage, never seen this before!
The concert in Bregenz was the first night of the tour's European leg in 1993, which is why they obviously ran through the newer songs in "rehearsal mode".
I was lucky to see them eight days after this was filmed at Villach, Austria so this here is quite special to me. Thanks for uploading!
You know where that video can be find?
PAICE, GLOVER, BLACKMORE, GILLIAN AND LORD....DEEP PURPLE FOR EVER!
Awesome footage! Purple forever \m/
So kind of these 4 great musicians to allow Bob Mortimer’s pub singer to rehearse with them.
Ritchie seems so super happy...
Three great songs from my favorite band. Deep Purple is still rocking hard here. Great sound from the band, including Gillan, who has his signature voice here.
Deep Purple is great as always! Ritchie was definitely not into it, but still played his guitar like a master!
RIP Jon Lord!
One can never fault great musicians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Even on an off day, right?
Great share, Stefan! *Thumbed up* TY!
"RIP Jon Lord!"
LibraSunRising777 You have a point there!
Thanks for your message my friend!
It's a soundcheck, not the actual concert..which is why nobody was "into it".
without Richie dont lives DP so long!
PurpleIntoDeep s
i love deep purple¡¡¡¡
rocks¡¡¡
It doesn't get better than this.
The Best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MARK2 FOREVER!!!
Ian Paice on those drums!
and that wig
Check out his RUclips Channel Ian Pace DrumTribe
Breath taking!!
awesome!
I had 2nd row for this tour in Darien Lake, NY. Unfortunately they cancelled the tour right before the show. I was bummed big time. I did get to see them on the Perfect Strangers tour in 1985 in the 5th row. Amazing band.
13:42 ...and that is when Paice show all his fire and finesse!
Very Nice,..
Ritchie intro makes sounds epic the front neck pickup of the stratocaster !
Jon Douglas lord r.i.p 🎵🎼🎶🎹😎👊
Ritchie’s hatred for Ian was so apparent at this point.
Clear as a bell.
Yep ...you can feel distain vibes ...
Well yeah Ians singing is all funky on this. 😂
Ritchie left soon after and Joe Satriani finished the tour.
You can tell Blackmore didn't want to be there
Without all the technique that exists today they were even better during that immortal period of time, The Battle Rages On, a masterpiece.
In some ways I think Ian paice, was on equal footing with John Bonham. This guy is underrated.!
Different styles compared to Bonham, but in some way I agree, but saying that Ian Paice is underrated, can´t quit agree, everyone who knows something about music and specially hard rock knows his quality and that he is the top drummer.
Stop using drugs it's making you stupid
Equal? No way, Paice was much better
No he is not. Not among people who understand drumming! Bonham is not even close to Paice's perfection.
Totally agree, Bonzo's solos where sometimes too long and inconsistent, keep them short but sweet
even better the rehearsals than the concert. They could be playing at a pub the same way.
JON LORD AND IAN PAICE!!! WONDERFUL!!!
Brothers in law 👍
YES YOU ARE RIGHT❗
6:58 Ritchie .....Ian Paice have it down to the nano second
Excelente
Blackmore was in -93 at his finest playing form in Deep Purple since 1974 and never topped that. Not even at his last great era 1995-97 in Rainbow. Sad but true. :(
Agreed.
Mico Wikström Agree completely!
Also "true" and he dosen't even care of his son Jurgen :(
I disagree, the live strangers in us all concert dvd, I thought he was playing amazingly good. He was very relaxed and playing flawlessly good solos.
I totally agree. I also am a latent Slaves and Masters fan. The 90-93 period was Blackmore's best as a player. He had such command and fire... It would be cool if they put out a concert video from '91 tour.
The Rockpalast Rainbow show from '95 was also a high level document of Ritchie's playing.
Ótimo obrigado
12:49 no words...
6:55 Ritchie is so badass and cool...
Cool!
12:48 - 12:51 Wow!!!!
Wowww
@@laurenzgraffilpenstein8117 like Bohnam in Stairway to Heaven solo :P
Hard to believe that was almost 30yrs ago!
I think the band sound fantastic and the songs are better Than I remember them from the album. Ritchie sounds great and so does Ian Gillan. You don't knock yourself out singing or playing in a rehearsal. Don't know why Gillan gets such a bad rap here. Very enjoyable to see to this, nice post.
je me souviens avoir vu ça sur MCM dommage qu'on à coupé l'intervention de Francis Zegut, il expliquait l'histoire de Smoke on the water, ça valait de l'or !
Paice!!!!!! ..... Paiiiiiiceeeeeee! woowwwww
Les meilleurs!
the great masters !
Still sounding great.
Les meilleurs!
Blackmore Lord and Paice.... The soul and nucleus of DP...
Grandi ☆☆☆☆☆
4:37, Purple, the metallic beast
This is when they were the best they’ve ever been !
Not really.

Very nice ,..
Slaves and Masters is a great album. There is some real classic Purple here.
worse album any band made with
jolene turnip.....
@@volpeverde6441 Definitely the worst album Deep Purple made. And the best album Rainbow never made? Thankfully there was only one Deep purple album with Jolene.
@C B
the best album rainbow never made....was HEAVEN AND HELL....
not heavy enough to be SABBATH - apart from DIE YOUNG....but a bloody good album....you can imagine Ritchie playing a couple of those tunes....
@@volpeverde6441 Funny you should say that. The first track I heard off Heaven & Hell was Neon Knights and I actually thought it was Rainbow.
Funny because "The Battle Rages On' get a lot of negative press but I think it is a fine album, heavy with some great toons and solos, I see it as the follow up to Perfect Strangers. Saw them on this tour, they were loud, tight and fucking brilliant.
the mix is crap.....not purple at all....
Ian Paice!
Superbe!
Wow I never new Jon had Yamaha DX7's in his setup miss the Memory Moog of course the Hammond will always rule the roost when it comes to his playing.
I would have liked to have been their roadie just to hear them rehearse.
Indeed! Gillan's voice stopped the motions and heart's beats! No one in so far overpower his unprecidented voice!
purpletastic
Ian is who all other rock drummers aspire to be!!
The legend
Blackmore had already told the band he was leaving, but agreed to stay on for the European tour. The other band members had ousted his chum, Jolene Turner and demanded Gillan be brought back. Blackmore was never really happy unless he had total control.
Ahh Joey Lynn
But Blackmore is a real master, so its necessary to have control..
Ritchie Blackmore !
PAICE !!! X DIOS !"!!!!!
cool ! to see this rehearsal , but Richie really looks like someone shot his dog ......
Best Song from Purpel.
PAICE!!!
Elen Perez Paicey good as fuck! Legend! Half of smoke on the water his achievement.
You got that right, the ending drumming sequence is phenomenal. As for the vocals, maybe Ritchie was not so happy, just saying..
Porto Alegre show 🇧🇷🇧🇼
Never be another band like this
