Unfortunately, brellas haven't been buffed in Tableturf, which while being a more balanced game, similarly gives the brellas the short end of the stick Splat Brella has historically been mid, only being used on occasion on the map Double Gemini due to its ease to fit into the corners of the map (although this didn't activate its special leaving it outclassed by cards like Cohock, Chum and Steelhead). Sorrella Brella will likely suffer the same fate as the original kit. Tenta Brella is the sole relevant card in the brella class. When JP and Western players started communicating for the first time, A player named Milan showed us their checkerboard deck (it wants to create a checkerboard pattern which it can fill in but its opponent can not), which revolutionized the checkerboard meta, and Tenta Brella was one of the stars of the deck. However, despite seeing strong performances, checkerboard still remains a relatively niche strategy not seen commonly in western play. Sorrella Tent serves a very similar role and has just about the same viability as vTent. Undercover Brella is another checkerboard card, but unlike tent, it wants to sit in the middle of checkerboard cards rather than the edges. This makes filling in checkerboard significantly harder, and hence undercover has not seen nearly as much usage as tent, even being voted the 10th worst card in the game in the most recent tier list. Overall, Brellas are a very unique but underpowered class in Tableturf. Unfortunately unlike main game, we don't even have a hope of patches or new kits making these cards more viable, all we can do is try to brainstorm new combos to make them work.
Just want to say I really appreciate this write-up. I really like Tableturf, but I tend to be rather unga-bunga when I play, so it's nice to get some insight on how these cards are used. Here's hoping that the inevitable new Brella's card will be more effective.
I dont mind any cards being weak or op in tableturf since they all have the same playstyle i just dont care what ends up being brokenly meta or not lol.
Woah, let's not get ahead of ourselves here... It still has Tenta Missiles and while they aren't broken anymore, they're still a terrible design. The fewer missiles we can get, the better.
Reef still has missiles which assists its painting power and missiles arent broken anymore and also can’t be spammed without negatively affecting gameplay. It’s in a healthy spot and also, let’s not assume it has worse paint? They never said it can’t paint as well, it’s wrong to assume so.
@@twewymuncherMissiles ARE absolutely still broken, they just aren’t as frequent anymore due to all of the special-charge nerfs on it (points for special), also there really arent any hard-sitters backline weapons in this meta and it’s a very mobile one thx to Cooler, Inkjet, etc., which automatically means bad things & stuff in general for Missiles which likes no, LOVES sitting targets and ducks, Missiles is still just a very broken (and unfun) Special by design (and current stats too), it just can’t thrive off in this meta but once it becomes relevant again we’re suddenly gonna start seeing a lot more Missiles-spam then……. The REEF-LUX 450 changes are ambiguous, but one thing for sure is that the devs want it to fight more given the range and buffs to its shots being narrower. If they nerf the paint output of the weapon by reducing paint spread, I guess it could lead to healthier playstyles than special spa, but would lower viability in a minor way.
honestly special spam hasn't actually been a useful strategy for months ever since tenta missiles got their output nerfed (in a very similar change to the one tacticooler just got.) so any nerf to that unhealthy playstyle has already happened; it's just sort of unnecessary.
I think the buff might be tailored to fighting in close-quarters combat. Like if an opponent really gets up close, the narrower spread will allow you to hit them more consistently. Considering the buff applies to only its tap and half-charge shots, it could prove to be more useful than useless
I want a weapon that actually fully parries attacks. Give it a cooldown, make it a brella, and require good timing and then make the rest of the stats vanilla brella stats and that's your weapon done. If you want it to be an even more annoying weapon, give it wall and barrier.
Lag will either make the weapon broken or useless, the same with brella. Either you account for lag and it becomes an amazing weapon in tourney or you design it for tournaments but it's useless online. There's almost no middle ground because of Nintendo's servers. Or should I say lack of servers? It's a good idea in theory but it won't work and someone will be frustrated, either the player or the enemies.
@@BlueBerry20071 That's not a parry then, it's a no-shot zone on a regular weapon. 3 seconds that stops enemies from attacking the objective. The Zipcaster buffs sound great because it means that Zipcaster can now fight well. Before, the fact that you cant use your sub weapon during the Zipcaster would severely hurt weapons like Splatana Stamper and Octobrush's ability to fight up close. However, now Zipcaster basically has a built-in Burst Bomb, which will be a huge help in combat. Also, assuming the explosion damage buff is more than 5 damage, which it should be, then Zipcaster has a new kill combo with the arm. Before, if you passed through the opponent and then hit them with the explosion, it would do 95 damage, barely missing the kill. Now that the explosion does more damage, this combo will probably kill, and with the bigger explosion radius, it will be more reliable to hit this combo. This means that the arm is now a threatening attack, not just a movement option, which is huge for the Zipcasters combat ability.

genuinely a big fan of this update. Reef-Lux is my casual go-to weapon and this change is very minor but positive. You don't usually use one charge unless you're strafing around short-ranged weapon like splattershot and splat dualies but this will make partial charges a 2 shot a lot more often than a 3 shot. Tap shot is honestly a nerf as you don't use tap shots in combat unless an opponet is weak (tap shots do 30 damage so it 70-30 combos.) That being said it's a great nerf as it means players will now not be able to farm special/cap zones as fast. If I could say anything I think that reef-lux could use just a touch less spread when doing a fully charged jump-shot and maybe a 15-25% shot velocity buff to fully charged shots (to make the weapon more aggro I would probably increase endlag after tap-shots by about 25%.) Aside from that pretty much full agreement with you, although I do think that the LDE nerf is a slightly bigger deal than you think for backline weapons as it increases their gear dependency. Also will likely have a large effect on vslosher and machine as well which both rely on LDE to deal with their low ink effeincy and poor paint.
LDE being nerfed was very much needed especially after its been very dominant since like half of S2. But also as a Dualie Squelcher player having my LDE crutch be weaker is funny, then again last i checked people have been running pretty different abilities.
I said it once in his twitch chat, and I'll say it again. This reeflux buff is going to make a great change to its consistency in fighting, and I really don't care if this means a paint nerf. Also, while I wish this patch was bigger, it was perfect all the way.
Hoping for one if not in the mid-season patch, next update. I don't think it's that unlikely they'll get something. Brella got this buff after so long in the same update it's receiving a kit in. Since next update will finally give us the Gloogas Deco (probably), I reckon there's a good chance it'll get some sort of buff, especially on account of it being one of the lesser used dualies, if not the least used. Also, this Brella buff corresponds with its Main Power Up effect in Splatoon 2, which sped up canopy regeneration. Gloogas' MPU effect was damage-up, so hopefully this could mean that Gloogas gets a damage buff, which I for one think is what it needs.
I think Tenta is probably in the best spot of the brella (mainly because Sorella) so that’s probably why they focused on the other two, the other two being underwhelming at best and worst weapon in the game for Splat and Undercover respectively
I'm honestly okay with the reeflux paint nerf because if the weapon ever gets to be really strong in fights, being a painting god too might make it too good if it gets a really strong kit soon
I don't think that Tacticooler and Tenacity will work well together. Tenacity works when people are down. Tacticooler works by bringing people back quicker. It might be okay for other anchors like e-liter and heavy who can spam more wave breakers. Backliners like charger/vjet (ink vac) and tristringer (wail) might not get enough value out of their specials to warrant a full main ability.

LDE being nerfed was very much needed especially after its been very dominant since like half of S2. But also as a Dualie Squelcher player having my LDE crutch be weaker is funny, then again last i checked people have been running pretty different abilities.
Finally I can pick up brella
I THOUGHT I WAS DREAMING BRO. BRELLA BUFFS ARE REAL!
Apostrophes don't make things plural
FINALLY! BRELLAS HAVE BEEN BUFFED
Now i have to remeber how to play them ;-;
I said it once in his twitch chat, and I'll say it again. This reeflux buff is going to make a great change to its consistency in fighting, and I really don't care if this means a paint nerf. Also, while I wish this patch was bigger, it was perfect all the way.
WE ALL CHEERED AND CELEBRATED IN VICTORY-
IT ONLY TOOK 5 YEARS!
Machine can’t stop taking Ls
What is the go-to brella now?! Tenta Sorella? Or Splat Sorella?
you didn’t even put slosher deco in the tier list 😭
Sorella undercover looking good 😊
Of course I take a break from splatoon for 2 months and my main (n-zap) gets nerfed, but I understand after seeing others use it
Why do I remember people saying tacticooler wasn't that great a while ago? When did it become good and why? Didn't it used to be low-tier?
No glooga buff as expected 😔 good patch tho
My babies is buff it a early christmas present ❤
Zip buffs let’s goooo
LLEEETTSSS GGOOOOOOO BRO
Well, every Brella but Tent unfortunately.
I think Tenta is probably in the best spot of the brella (mainly because Sorella) so that’s probably why they focused on the other two, the other two being underwhelming at best and worst weapon in the game for Splat and Undercover respectively
I'm honestly okay with the reeflux paint nerf because if the weapon ever gets to be really strong in fights, being a painting god too might make it too good if it gets a really strong kit soon
nooo the brella guy can’t brella anymoree
I am a reeflux player. Id take this change over a paint spread any day.
brella my beloved
No sprinkler buffs :(
You got your yearly buff last patch
Still waiting for a dynamo buff
I don't think that Tacticooler and Tenacity will work well together. Tenacity works when people are down. Tacticooler works by bringing people back quicker. It might be okay for other anchors like e-liter and heavy who can spam more wave breakers. Backliners like charger/vjet (ink vac) and tristringer (wail) might not get enough value out of their specials to warrant a full main ability.
Praise the Zipcaster buffs ✨👐✨
I'm a happy happy Brella man
Brella Mains are happy about that.
when will drizzle season come out?
