Srimad Bhagawatam - Discourse 01 - Talk in English by Swami Aparajitananda, Chinmaya Mission Chicago.
Canto 10 - Chapter 03 - First 45 Verses - Birth of Bhagawan Sri Krishna.
In these 6 discourses, Swamiji will exposit to us on the 10th Canto , 3rd Chapter, the first 45 verses of Bhāgavatam. While introducing this chapter to us, he informs us that the chapter contains the description of Sri Krishna’s birth.
Swamiji answers the basic question in the sadhaka’s mind about the difference between the birth of jīva and avatāra of Bhagavān.
    1. Kāraṇa bedha - The difference with respect to the cause. Jīva has no choice but to take birth whereas Lord decides his avatāra and descends.
    2. Svarūpa bedha -The difference with respect to the nature. Jīva is mayadas, the Lord is mayapati.
    3. Uddeśya bedha - The difference with respect to the purpose. Main purpose of Jīva’s birth is to evolve. The main purpose of the Lord’s avatāra is to help jīvatma attain liberation.
Swamiji unfolds the 5 types of avatāras of Bhagavān - pūrṇa, aṇsha, kala, āveśā, and nithya.
Krishna’s Birth - the Lord is being welcomed at Ādhibhautika, Ādhidaivika and Ādhyātmika level.
The verse number 1 to 4 are very poetic and these verses describe the changes in Mother Nature at the Ādhibhautika level. How ākāśa, vāyu, agni, jala, pṛthvī (Ādhibhautika level ) were all ready to receive the Lord has been very poetically explained in these verses.
Verse 5: the Lord is descending and the minds of the sadhus became cheerful and peaceful automatically. The Lord is being welcomed at Ādhyātmika level.
In this verse, sadhus have been described as asuradruhām, which means one who hates asuras. Whereas in the Bhagavad-Gītā Chapter 12, a sadhu has been defined as one who does not hate anyone (adveṣhṭā sarva-bhūtānāṁ). This seeming contradiction has been answered by Swamiji here.
The word ‘asura’ used here is not talking about some external asura, but āsurik tendencies such as kama, krodha, lobha , moha, madha and mātsarya, which is experienced by a Sadhaka. A sadhu is one hates the āsurik tendencies in himself.
Kama (lust): A person finding happiness in kama, is an asura. A sadhu is a person who is ashamed of himself because of these lusty tendencies.
Krodha ( anger): If a person justifies his anger, he is an asura. Sadhu is one who works on his anger.
Lobha (greed): These days, the philosophy of life is that contentment is bad. The reason given is that if you are contented, your efficiencies come down, so be passionate to be more efficient. A person having such a tendency is an asura.
Moha (infatuation): In the society, your intense attachment is glorified in the name of love. But, you become a slave if you are intensely attached to something. This tendency is of an asura. A sadhu is ashamed of himself if he is attached.
Madha (arrogance): The joy of an asura is the joy of the ego - the egoistic joys of winning and conquering. A sadhu is ashamed if he sees the ego in himself.
Mātsarya (Jealousy) : People many a times say that jealousy is good as it brings out the best in a person because of competition. A person who believes this is an Asura.
Swamiji’s advice to sadhakas is to become a sadhu as Bhagavān loves sadhus. In verse 8 chapter 4 of Bhagavad-Gītā, Bhagavān has promised that he takes birth to protect sadhus.
So, at the time when Bhagavān was taking the avatāra , such a sadhu’s mind became peaceful and cheerful.
This is the Ādhyātmika avatāra of Bhagavān and can be experienced by a sadhaka!
    HARI OM!!!

    Hari Om Swamiji.
Thankyou for revealing how avatars take human form to remove darkness n ignorance.
The difference in divine n human nature depends on cause, nature n purpose.
Pooran ,Ansh, Aavesh,Nitya n arth avatars take form for jeev to evolve.
To protect Dharma through divine play, to liberate by letting ego to dissolve.
    When Lord Krishna was born___
Rohini was Nakshatra n it was dark night.
The moment was divine, though night but the sight was bright.
    Lotus were blooming.
    Birds were chirping.
    Bees were humming.
    Rivers happily flowing.
Changes were seen at adidaivik, adibhotic n adhyatmic level.
Minds were cheerful, auspiciousness everywhere n sadhus were peaceful.
Earth getting ready n making divine preparation.
All to welcome Lord, there was a lot of excitement.
    Regards n pranams Swamiji.
