Hi john, because of you I got my first wooden ship model from OcCre (the Polaris). I learned so much watching you build these amazing wooden ships. Thank you for the informative videos and keep it up.
Thank you very much for your kind words David!!! I am glad that i have inspired you to begin this beautiful hobby! In no time you will see your skills to get better and better, believe me :)
When I hand sand without a sanding block I leave ridges in the wood. In the concave areas I use sand paper wrapped around a large diameter dowel. Then finish up sanding without a sanding block. Keep up the good work, I learn a lot from you.
Fantastic work John. I learn something new with every episode. Didn’t realise you can buy coloured fillers, I will have to take a look round diy store.
Good morning John another great video. Nice job with the sanding, I find it hard to match the color of the wood here so use white glue and all that sawdust that was just sanded. I find that color match is so much closer than with puddy as long as I can keep the about of white glue to the least amount possible. Great video again.
Good morning my friend!!! Thank you very much!!! I just answered that in Jose, so i will just make a copy of the same answer if you don't mind (i know that you won't :) ). I have used it once and even though the result was great, i found out that when i apply the varnish the are that had a mixture with white glue had a different shade of color and you could tell that with a close look. Maybe you can tell it only in gloss varnish but that's what i use, so i changed to colored wood putty.
All this time I was thinking that someone in your house was using a woodsaw or something. Only now I realise it’s the dog breathing under your desk 😂 I don’t use headphones, so the sound isn’t that great. Great vid as always, love the curves.
great video John and another good lesson for everybody who want make model, just beautiful, hug Wolf :) I'm intrested with this wood paty? must try it next time, didnt know that something like that exist :D another lesson from you :)
Thank you very much my friend for your kind words!!! I have wood putty in 4 different colors. It's a nice material for small gaps and wood imperfections :)
I use a mix of saw dust (sapelli) and white glue. Fill the gap with PVA and then sand. The glue plus the saw dust fills the gap and makes it invisible. I am very happy with the final result

Yves de Lille (nord de la France) Hello John, to make the hull smooth, there is a lot of sanding work. To roughen the sanding, you can use 4mm glass scrapers and then finish with flexible abrasive blocks of different grains. I see that after sanding that almost all the cyano stains have disappeared and we get a nice hull. Will the hull be varnished or painted? Thank you for sharing. See you soon and good luck for the future. Yves from Lille (northern France)
Hi Yves! I use a 80 degrees sandpaper for the first rough sanding, then 150 and finally around 500 degrees. After that i will apply a coat of nitro wood sealer and then 2 coats of varnish.
@@JohnsWoodenShips, Vu la qualité de la coque je me doutais que vous alliez la vernir. Quelle est la différence entre un vernis nitro cellulosique et le vernis que vous appliquez par la suite en 2 couches ?
When I first saw this video, I wondered why you don't use one of your sander tool. Theoretically it should be easier. But after I started sanding the hull of my model ship, I understood: seeing is one thing, dooing and feel it is another thing.

Thank you very much!!! Try to use 3 types of sand paper like i do. You will minimize the ridges in the wood to almost no visible ones :)
Great job..well done.
Many many thanks!!!
Excelente video!! Your lovely dog 🐶 is such a good company!!! Bravo John.
Thank you very much Thanasis!!!

@@JohnsWoodenShips OK, understand, but as I don't varnish my hulls everything comes out ok! Regards
@@josel.bacharel4891 Yes it's logical and that should give you a better result.

@@modelismepassion4493 The Nitro varnish is wood sealer. Then i apply 2 coats of the clear gloss varnish that is made for yachts.
Dans différentes vidéo, vous utilisez une petite burette avec de la colle, cette burette est munie d'un long tuyau. ù trouver cette burette ??? Merci

Yes the sense of your fingers is the better way to make sure that you have a smooth surface :)
Hi sir, where did you find a guide for the 🛳?
If you mean the model, the instructions and schematics are included in the kit.
Sir where did you buy the kit? Any tips? Thank you
@@Tensai_doJo I have bought it from Occre , check out www.occre.com You can find many and useful tips if you watch this series from the start :)
Isnt it better to leave it a bit rough?? To give it more of a natural look?
What ever pleases you Arthur :) I like it to be as smooth as it gets to have the best surface for the gloss varnish i use.
👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!!!
Looking good
Hi to wulf
Thank you very much!!! I will give him a big hug :)
Wolf hates the camera, funny
Yeah, but i love him!!!
