Thanks, you made it easy to pop all that stuff apart. It took me ~20 minutes to R&R the window switch. And FYI for anyone reading this: It turned out my old window switch was fine. It must have had a grain of sand preventing the passenger side window switch from returning to the neutral position. Pulling it out must have dislodged it. So check for dirt before buying a new switch. (I had sprayed it with contact cleaner to no avail, ergo you may need to be a little more aggressive cleaning it.) So now I have a used switch to sell on eBay...
Strange. I have been in auto repair since 1972,now retired. I am still a Certified ASE Auto Master. Having bragged,I will now get to the point. I have never hear a Door Panel referred to as a Door Card. I love it when I learn something new. Where was this video shot?. I am from the U.S., in New Jersey......Very nice video,Thank you !
I'm in the UK and I've mostly heard it being referred to as a door card. If someone said door panel, I'd assume they meant the metal panel on the outside
Great video there, thanks. It should be noted that old plastic caps like the one behind the opening handle or the one on the big handle tend to lose a bracket when pried apart.
I suspect that after 11 years, my sticking switch has caused the motor that moves the driver's window to fail. Is there a video on troubleshooting and replacing the driver's window motor?
I know this video is old now, but I've been taking my door card off my car often enough since 2009 and I never needed trim removers to get it started. Just remove the sail panel cover, then there's a slight gap under the door card where you can grab and yank and the clips will all start to pop out. Have never damaged the trim once doing this.
It really makes a difference in northern Mn. In our 8 months of cold. Trying to hand pop the clips leads to cracking panel where you grab it or at the clip mounts. Summer? Ya just grab it.
I was planning to do this but what tools did you use to pry open the door? I've got the screwdrivers but not the flat plastic tool (red and blue tool) Thank you in advance
To remove the door panel, I used plastic putty knives and a small flat pry bar I got at the hardware store. The better option is some automotive trim removal tools you can get at an auto parts store.
Ive got an 06 OBXT and the drivers side window makes a clunk noise when I close the door when the window is less than fully up. When its even a bit down I can pull the top of the window side to side quite a distance. What can I do about this?
Remove the door panel and study the problem area. Remove the opposite door panel and compare the two doors to see if something is missing. You can also go to parts.subaru.com, search for 61244AG00A and compare to the diagram there. If you find a part missing, it is probably still inside the door somewhere. You can also buy parts at parts.com. Or, take the car to a body shop.
Also, be really careful with the door and lock cable latches. The plastic isn't that strong and I broke the little plastic knob off the lock cable latch on both front doors over the years. Takes a lot of messing around to get it working again once broken.
The nick in the vinyl is the reason I swapped the whole thing. I couldn't fix that. Of course it wasn't a very significant problem and so I easily sold the old card for a good price. That significantly offset the cost of the new card making it a cheap easy fix that looks absolutely perfect. I did this same thing with some of the other interior trim and and now this 13 year old interior looks like it just rolled out of the factory.
Yay for no-nonsense! Clear cut, clean, step by step, great!

Thanks to your video I just replaced my master switch in 45 minutes, no problems, nothing broken. Thanks man, awesome video!
Thank you so much! You saved me HUNDREDS of dollars! And taking the door apart was just as easy as in your demonstration.
Now this is how a repair video should look. Fantastic job.
The snapping sounds are so satisfying....
Great video, super simple and straightforward. Helped me get the job done in 10m flat. Thankyou!
Thanks for that video. Just the first 35 seconds was all i needed to find the hidden screw behind the handle.
Love the snapping sounds lmao. Sounds like gunshots.

Gayyyyyy

@@ichosethishandle Are you ready ? The outer metal panel is a Door Skin !
@@charliechristie2949 What about the rest of the panels? E.g. wings, roof...? Do you say roof skin and wing skin?
Great video there, thanks. It should be noted that old plastic caps like the one behind the opening handle or the one on the big handle tend to lose a bracket when pried apart.
OMG the plastic popping sounds are so satisfying, I want to change all my door components now just to hear that sound.
Great video, only the important bits shown so nice and quick to view - thank you!
Nice tutorial. I needed this to remove the panel to replace the door stay.
The Best manual that i've ever seen! Goood job !
Gracias Don Steve ,estaba dando la hora con retiro tapa interior puerta lado conductor ,buen video......🇨🇱🤝👍
Great video. I was looking for the hidden screws behind the grab handle, to be able to replace the mirror,
Great overview of the process. Thanks!
NICE! simple, straight forward and,,,,,,,, Short!

Hey just wondering why you tape the box that holds all the window switches?
I put tape around the switch to help block road noise.
Nice job! where did you buy the driver's door card?
Look up the part number at parts.subaru.com, then just Google that.
Thanks, saved me some time with the preview! Also probably less broken things. haha!
Excellent video, thank you for posting.
Do you have to remove the door panel to replace the master window switch?
Yes
Steve Cornett thank you. Why didn't they make it like every other cars where you pop it up with a screwdriver.
I was planning to do this but what tools did you use to pry open the door? I've got the screwdrivers but not the flat plastic tool (red and blue tool) Thank you in advance

oh cool thanks you!!!
Thanks for this video you saved me a lot of time and money.

you make it look so easy haha. thanks for the vid
Thanks for this video. It helped immensely!
How much was everything?
Part numbers are in the description. Search for them with Google or look them up at parts.subaru.com.
I wish that panel would fit my 3rd gen legacy ..
Seriously??. Changed the whole door card for little reason. Could have painted the various worn parts and just replaced the switch
