Aug. 15, 2024 Glad you're ok and you had a fire extinguisher at hand. Come to think of it, I don't have one so you've reminded me I need to get one. I wonder if the Inspector is going to take the cover off the front panel of your dryer since that looks like where the fire started? Even if the circuit board shorted out, IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!!! and do NOT allow them to bully you into thinking it was. You had it replaced by a LICENSED repairman and if it was "faulty", there was no way for him to know that. I've purchased generators for my vehicle (yes, years ago vehicles had generators; not alternators), taken them home, had them installed and they were faulty. It happens!! With everything being made in China it doesn't surprise me at all that something can go wrong. The repairman did NOTHING wrong, YOU did NOTHING wrong, it's just crap replacement parts. Maybe your insurance inspector should sue the company that made the faulty part !!! THAT would at least make sense!!! I have a brand new dryer, purchased in June of this year and 2 days ago I turned it on and it sounded like my lawnmower, not my dryer. I called the company I purchased it from and they had to call a licensed professional repairman becuz they said by the sound it was making (I sent them a recording via text), they couldn't fix it. Ok, so Repairman shows up, takes it apart and between the two of us, we found the problem. It was a cover over a fan that was rattling inside the panel. Well, there was NO WAY to tighten it so he thought about it for a few minutes and came up with a solution. He put some plumbers putty (like play dough but it stays moist) around the inside of the cover and some between the cover and the exterior panel. He put it back together and voila!!! No more lawnmower, it now sounds like a dryer, nice and quiet. It's a Whirlpool, gas dryer, wasn't cheap to purchase but even the repairman said the parts are not made out of good quality materials anymore. Everything is cheaply made and there's nothing we can do about it. This stuff just happens unfortunately. Stand your ground girlfriend!!! Do NOT volunteer any additional info. Only answer their questions with a Direct answer and keep the answers short. Don't let them trick you into saying something they can twist around. Take care.
Nice job. Glad ya all safe
