      I have saved this video to my favourites list simply because it was one of the last times Buttercup got to swim free within the rec pond, and it was also a brilliant video of Fred. His caiman are now moved to Kenan's place, and his alligators are settled into their new habitat. But more important to me is it shows that sometimes, you really need to take on board how long some of these reptiles live, and make contingency plans for their care when things go pear shaped. Even before Fred passed, he had already started taking steps so people had time to make their own plans to get the habitats in place for when the time came that they were needed. Fred's legacy WILL live on, thanks to Kenan and also the work done by Aquascapes to build such fantastic enclosures and eco systems for these beautiful creatures. You guys Rock!

    Amazing job guys! I have an Aquascape inspired pond because of you guys! It’s basically I miniature version of Kamp Kenan’s pond but our 3&5 years are mini versions of you guys. So they really enjoy getting in the water and exploring! Thank you so much for the inspiration and I love my backyard now thanks to you guys. It took me a month to build and under $4k, using mainly Aquascape products! If you’re in the Dallas, Fort Worth TX area again, I can show you what a DIY version of your products can do! Basically built it with a little help from my wife :). Thanks again for the knowledge and inspiration that have changed our lives.

    Hi Ed, I always wonder about the level of water PH buffered from the kind of stones or rocks like limestones that affects the acidity or alkalinity of the water. Are the fishes and plants just OK? My English is not good hope I pointed up the idea.

    • @edbeaulieu5916
      @edbeaulieu5916 5 лет назад +1

      Yo Pac The type of stone will definitely have an impact on the pH and water parameters, the stone we used on Kenan’s project is native to that area and will work perfectly for the Malawi Cichlids he has living within it.

    You need to stock your pond with some local snails and crustacea, they will deal with your fixed algae to a degree.

    I love these and natural swimming ponds, but I would hate to jump into a pond and a snake already be there - yikes! I will definitely have to figure out how to have a very transparent and clean pond before I can swim relaxed in it.... intentionally swimming with a giant snake you guys are nuts

      @@EdThePondProfessor I'm sure they're equally great in a permaculture and environmental perspective for your farm and garden. I would love to swim in them though. I think it's awful to have a pool full of chlorine or salt derived products that aren't much better to keep the water clean. I would like a natural swimming pool that you can drink out of if you wanted to. I'm just wondering what design features keep it safe to swim in. In Texas we have water moccasins and rattlesnakes and all kinds of things out in the country that like to get in swimming pools, maybe it's that they can't get out is the problem. I used to have to fish them out as a kid. I just wouldn't want to die from poisoning over wanting to swim :) We are definitely looking at doing this in a few years ourselves... our favorite travel activity is to visit natural springs and hot springs

    I’m shocked with all the work you do, you stay away from bottom drains and only do liner. I guess keeping the ponds under 24/30 inches helps the ”Aquascapes”contractors avoid from getting a real contract license, make sense but limits them.
