The bots are the worst thing. They don’t even give you a chance to pick up product online. Every retailer needs to step it up with anti bot software and make it an even playing field. Restock notification pops up on my phone and I click on it it’s already sold out.
I saw a discussion on Reddit the other day where a newbie collector asked for his collection to be rated, and some people were trashing him because they didn't like how he was collecting. He had bought many modern grail cards in PSA 10s.
I’m so glad someone else is saying it. I’m sick of people loosely interpreting investors and traders as scalpers. Apparently every Tom, dick and Harry is a scalper now, what is going on
Let’s put it this way, if the people who “love opening product” rip 5 packs a week (assuming $5/pack) for a year they’re flushing $1,300 down the toilet. Real smart.
My kid opened a crown zenith box from Sam’s club I got for $45 bucks and hit the giritina v star gold and mew vstar alt in the same box ….. good value 😅
You’re exactly right. It’s rooted in a bizarre world view that making money/having money must mean you’ve doing something evil to get it. Which is by and large just an incorrect way of looking at any free market economy. To get money you had to sell something (goods, services, labor) to a consenting party, who’s purchasing from you because they deem whatever you’re selling to be more valuable than the monetary cost. I.e. to make money/get wealthy in a true free market you MUST provide others with more perceived value to them then you’re getting in return. Assuming no deceit/coercion in a competitive market, making a profit is literally a moral good, or a side effect of it. In the case of Pokémon investing, like you said, these LGSes valued cash flow over holding these boxes. You provided cash flow, assumed all risk, and now have to do the work to sell it in the future. Why is it wrong for you to be rewarded for it?
No, the evil people are the scalpers who use bots to make sure that they can order about 80-90% of a stores pre-order consignment!! Those are the evil assholes!
Its simple economics. As there is more and more people on this planet. Demand goes up for everything. It costs companies more to produce EVERYTHING. Every aspect of their business gets more expensive trying to keep up with the demand. Inflation is real..
I think to many people are hopping in to the investment side. Probably not opening and buying a lot more than ur random person would. It sux for the people that wana buy 1 etb or 1 booster box. Even a handful of packs for $5 a piece every weekend. I just bought astral radiance cuz it was cheaper or the same price as scarlet and violet sets. Love ur vids though alex.
My favorite thing is when I see people say they hope Prismatic gets printed into the ground to the point where it loses all value. LMAO, no, you don’t. You want it because of the value, people don’t only collect for the artwork, they collect for the artwork combined with the idea that they have now have a valuable, relatively scarce and desirable collectible. Virtue signaling runs rampant in western society and it’s plentiful in the pokemon hobby.
no emergency video about the pullrates from lastnight and todays rip and shippers is crazy. out of 900 packs someone hit 15 bottom of the barrel sir's, 2 of them the flower eevee, no eeveelutions
Wouldn't rely pull rate source from a whatnot stream... heard shady stories/scam on whatnot ... could have been weigh or manipulated somehow... majority of the video the sealed wasn't open in video, it was open off camera, who know Rather wait for Danny p or pokerev or youtuber/streamer that literally open the sealed during the video and open the packs without leaving the camera sight
with inflation and normal rise in prices, it's crazy how like video games are still $50-$60 (but then micro transactions, DLC/expansions they can make more) and cards are still where they've been for years.
I’m not an investor. I watch your channel for the insights and straight up attitude. People can collect how they like and what they like. I’m building master sets. I don’t buy and keep sealed (yet 😅). Do I get annoyed by people buying up shit tons of product? Yeah, annoys the f*** out of me cus it means I gotta pay more for stuff. Doesn’t make those people evil (except the bot users 😅). At the end of the day it’s the Pokemon company that needs to print more product to meet demand (I know some investors will cry if they did this too much), but it would benefit my way of collecting. Doesn’t make me evil either 😂 People just gotta stop being so sad online.
I just got into the investment side and I do not understand the hate. Yea things are expensive but scared money don't make money. Also son is 6 and has no problem getting cards. Can you find then in stores? Not really. But times have changed there are so many ways to buy product. Find it online. Like I thought everyone was buying the things they wanted online at this point anyways. If you want product people have to educate themselves on how to get the product they want. This hobby is a blast! Enjoy it!
I’m Surprised you didn’t mention 2021 (and mid to late 2020). I felt the “Pokémon card famine” of that time / year, was the year that brought out people’s frustration about not finding product / finding product overpriced that frosted caribou had to make a semi viral video on the matter (if you’ve seen it you know it). I remember shining fates was hard to find back in the day but if you know the end to that story history may repeat itself. Edit: At least you can’t pin this on Logan Paul lol
Good timing with this one Alex. I was reading a post on Pokemon TCG subreddit blaming investors for the current state of things, when I got the notification for this video!
I was too lol. Reddit is full of brain rot anyway. They are seething over a luxury item. The messed up thing is the next post on my Reddit feed was a thread about a real world horrifying picture of an Ethiopian woman bound and displayed by Libyan slave traders. It’s the text book definition of first world problems and it’s kinda pathetic.
Tell them dawg. I got downvoted to oblivion on Reddit because I commented that I bought 12 booster bundles of 151 and told I was part of the problem of the hobby. Apparently I’m not allowed to collect anything anymore? Nevermind that I collect and have my collection on display. Buying multiples of a product = bad!
Unfortunately it is in almost all niche markets. In sneakers it was/is the exact same. People missing out complaining but when they do hit they also charge premium and use the excuse “i am a collector and use it to buy something I like”😅
The only problem I have is scalpers / fake internet store fronts who re-sell unreleased sets for double MSRP... PE ETBs shouldn't be sold for over $120...yet. maybe a year after its print run but not before its even released. My 2 cents...
100% spot on. People need to worry less about other people and worry more about themselves. The amount of people who are so self entitled and think everything should be handed to them on a plate. Fusion strike booster boxes have been readily available for MRSP or less for years. If you didn't buy it then then don't blame someone else for doing when you've had the same opportunity.
TBH, the scalpers that are wiping the shelves at the retail stores so they can sell for more are the ones that are irritating. Everyone else that orders online through retail, distribution, lgs., etc. are okay. Anyone online are on the same playing field. They're not instore waiting and the 1st person grabs everything.
This isn’t a hot take. It’s a hot steaming pile of shit. Pointing out how horrible capitalism is and then saying “that’s just the system is- you aren’t allowed to be mad if I sell high” What if content creators want a better system and are highlighting the inadequacies within it. Click bait as usual.
@@Turrent pointing out the beauty of capitalism, the fact that you can see an opportunity, take a risk, make money etc. It’s definitely okay to be critical of things, it’s important to push back.
@ bro seriously?? I work 40+ hours a week, own a home, support my family and want the world to be better. You shaming me for literally feeding your algorithm and helping your content is extremely disappointing and disrespectful.
Honestly I'm curious, my distributor just opened pre-orders for the next set journeys together, and he is charging 30$ more for booster box, I'm honestly curious if that was a general thing or not? And yes I'm talking about an actual pokémon distributor.
You are spot on nostalgianomics. Card players think that are above everyone and they think anyone who does not play the game are scalper. When they couldnt even tell you who professor oak is in the show. They arent usually hardcore fans like collectors are. The premise of pokemon is to catch them all. It is a tcg "Trading card game". Even more so than the local card games.
Yeah I’m sick of seeing all the poor people complain about scalpers and everything else. People with money and things going on in their lives don’t complain in comment sections.
This argument is so easy to kill too. If let's say Walmart a billion dollar company can flip products for profit then why can't the normal guy? Can't answer that question then don't @ me.
What do you think of people going into stores and clearing out the entire inventory themselves? I get wanted to collect and invest but if target restocks and you are there that same minute and buy 20-30 boxes seems crazy.
@@NostalgiaNomics agreed, tbh cosco and those other stores probably have no idea how popular pokemon is. They are watching that and like holy shit wtf is happening 😂😂
I don't care what people say about my sealed collection and/or investments because at the end of the day, it's mine, it's my money, and I did the work to get the product before they did. Get off your butt's and do some work people. Lol. Everyone has the same opportunity as me.
@@TimBCampbell2 I’m saying if you did the people mad about you hoarding sealed product wouldn’t have anything to complain about. I guess I wasn’t clear enough
If anything, we should all be happy that the hobby we like has so much versatility- that there are so many different ways that people can enjoy the product! Just that many more people who will actually put hard earned money into it and keep it alive for years to come!
I agree with your message, but then you cast stones at people with bots or grabbing things at Costco. Not everybody can develop contacts to provide them with inventory like you can regardless of how much effort and time they put into the hobby. There are inherent bias and our right discrimination in the business world and life in general.
I once got a mean reply to a comment I left somewhere, all because I bought a few fusion strike little build and battle boxes and flipped one of them to take profits. Dude was acting like I bought the entire supply on planet earth for 5 cents a booster pack because I brainwashed the CEO of the pokemon company or something lmao

A lot of the people who’ve been around for a few years can and are educating and changing the hobby for the better. Videos and discussions like this help a lot. 💪🏼👏
Idk why but for some reason i feel judged, my wife walked in on me replying the beginning of the video saying FOLKS out loud. She dont know whats up though I think i nailed it. FOLKS!
Timmy logic: When stonks are down: "You guys are idiots for buying pokemon cards at the bottom, this children's card game will keep crashing." When stonks are up: "You guys are evil buying up all the product thats why the hobby so expensive now."
Im more on the collecting side, i love collecting certain sets or certain cards. I get the investing side, its not what im into personally, but nothing wrong with it. My only issue comes from scalpers pretending to be "inventors", scamming their way through all the product, causing issues for genuine inventors or collectors, then running away when their instant profits cant be acquired I like what one local LGS did for their preorders.....if you didnt preorder during Shrouded, then they dont honor the Prismatic preorder, because they want as close to honest collectors or inventors to come through them. Maybe the wrong way to do it, but I thought it was good
Hey man - really appreciate the straight-forward honesty of the videos. I'm getting frustrated with everyone wanting to find reasons why what everyone else is doing within the Pokemon universe is bad... except for them.
The most ridiculous thing that happened to me in the hobby was someone responding to my yt comment about investing in Pokemon, saying that i have to be a Trump supporter 🤣 I mean, dude! I live in Europe! US politics interests me close to nothing. It's intresting/fun to watch but come on. Investors are for Trump, Cabal for Biden and Japannese collectors for Kamala? WTF 🤣
The green light questions are pretty accurate, like people do not have a mind of their own? Why do people feel the need to have someone else approve their selling/spending smh 🤦🏻♂️
The psychology is the same in anything. People don’t care about certain stocks / crypto until it spikes in price and reaches new ath. Same with Pokémon, many sets are hated until prices rise and then all the haters want to jump in which makes prices go even higher. Then they blame the average investor for having any position in the product!
I get your point and you're smart cause you hold and look at the long term value not just the immediate reward. My issue is that scalpers/rip & shippers only wait until a hype set to go hard. Why don't distributors just focus on actual LGS first and then to everyone else. Cause let's face it big box stores have many revenue streams and not just pokemon. LGS will then be able to set better market prices rather than secondary market money grabs.
If you want to stock up on a card you are now "market manipulating". If you want to master a set you are deemed a "scalper". If you want to resell something to buy something else for your collection and are actually a huge fan they will say "flipper".
Also, these stores need to start implementing limits per customer/account/email/payment method when sets are popular. When stores do not do that, or encourages those evil ass hats to literally leave nothing for others...smh
People will always cry because someone is doing better then them. They should not be doing this if they just going to cry because someone don’t won’t to open the boxes or cry because they sold at a low cost. When they should have holding on to it. You keep up the good work
i'd say most people should aim for 3 booster boxes in a collection that way you can keep one sell one open one so no matter if a box goes to $3000 you can still cash out and appreciate those gains. so glad i bought fusion strike for msrp last july also brilliant stars and astral radiance in december just gone. TO THE MOON 🌕
Another great video. There's definitely peace of mind when you plan to hold for 5 to 10 years. No need to worry about little dips or up swings in the market.
I was wondering why my sealed collection was going up in 2024. Let them keep opening and promoting it. Our sealed will be over the moon now in 2026 30th anniversary!
I have a plan of using 1 prismatic evolution pokemon center ETB to get the entire eeveelution set and umbreon master all as trade that’s my plan and with Wally World delaying regular ETBs I might get my wish 🤷♂️
pokemon company sells their product to distributors, distributors mark it up sell it to Big box/retail/LGS, who mark it up and sell it to the Timmys, who mark it up and try to sell to other Timmy's. Everybody is a scalper! 😅

In the case of Pokémon investing, like you said, these LGSes valued cash flow over holding these boxes. You provided cash flow, assumed all risk, and now have to do the work to sell it in the future. Why is it wrong for you to be rewarded for it?
Preach. Without collectors, there would be no Pokemon. 80% of the hobby are collectors.
*90-95%
Nope
Impossible. The line has been drawn. We all hate each other. 😂
Wouldn't rely pull rate source from a whatnot stream... heard shady stories/scam on whatnot ... could have been weigh or manipulated somehow... majority of the video the sealed wasn't open in video, it was open off camera, who know
Rather wait for Danny p or pokerev or youtuber/streamer that literally open the sealed during the video and open the packs without leaving the camera sight
with inflation and normal rise in prices, it's crazy how like video games are still $50-$60 (but then micro transactions, DLC/expansions they can make more) and cards are still where they've been for years.
You should do a community post asking people to share their biggest hot takes in the hobby. Then select a few and talk about them in a video.
Doesn’t make me evil either 😂
People just gotta stop being so sad online.
It’s for the kids. I hate those people.😂😂
Tell them to donate their moonbreon to my kid then 😉
Is it still a pick up for astral radiance at 250 after tax?
🤷♂️
I find myself wishing the boxes were a little cheaper but that's because I also want them, which explains why they're valuable lol
Only a hot take if your name starts with T, ends with Y, and rhymes with Jimmy. Very reasonable thoughts.
Long story short. Pokemon is like the stock market, it has highs, it has low, but it always comes back and performs better.
I have my RUclips notification for this channel set to "Foooolks" every time a new video drops. I love it
Pitchfork sales have been booming
This isn’t a hot take. It’s a hot steaming pile of shit.
Pointing out how horrible capitalism is and then saying “that’s just the system is- you aren’t allowed to be mad if I sell high”
What if content creators want a better system and are highlighting the inadequacies within it.
Click bait as usual.
Bro you can move to china if you hate capitalism
@@Turrent pointing out the beauty of capitalism, the fact that you can see an opportunity, take a risk, make money etc.
It’s definitely okay to be critical of things, it’s important to push back.
@ beauty of capitalism: top 1% have the vast majority of wealth and you defending it. Love that for you.
Has time in the middle of a day on a Tuesday to watch youtube videos and comment on them but talk about how terrible life is lol
@ bro seriously??
I work 40+ hours a week, own a home, support my family and want the world to be better.
You shaming me for literally feeding your algorithm and helping your content is extremely disappointing and disrespectful.
Got the umbreon and rayquaza v the other day! You got them magic hands brother! lol
I'm just a dog chasing cars...I wouldn't know what to do if I actually caught one.
35 seconds in....had to stop and post.....YES! Now back to the video!
Edit: Video over. FACTS! Just basic economics.
Yeah I’m sick of seeing all the poor people complain about scalpers and everything else. People with money and things going on in their lives don’t complain in comment sections.
You really are special aren't you lol
@ found the poor!
I'm gay but you don't see me blaming others for the fact that I like dudes.
I’m sick of poor people. Period.
@ you and me both
This argument is so easy to kill too.
If let's say Walmart a billion dollar company can flip products for profit then why can't the normal guy?
Can't answer that question then don't @ me.
What do you think of people going into stores and clearing out the entire inventory themselves? I get wanted to collect and invest but if target restocks and you are there that same minute and buy 20-30 boxes seems crazy.
how else can I complete a set if I want to by ripping packs? Huge amounts of product is needed for that, a store shelf is even close to enough
Ya i hear you. I think the stores need to handle that with limits
@@NostalgiaNomics agreed, tbh cosco and those other stores probably have no idea how popular pokemon is. They are watching that and like holy shit wtf is happening 😂😂
People causing mayhem in a target and people buying and investing into sealed product are two completely different things lol
just when i thought i couldnt love nostalgia nomics more he brings up divide and conquer plus conspiracy theories hahaha DOPE my mans is smart
I don't care what people say about my sealed collection and/or investments because at the end of the day, it's mine, it's my money, and I did the work to get the product before they did. Get off your butt's and do some work people. Lol. Everyone has the same opportunity as me.
If you opened it all no one would care though 😂
@marcburch2633 luckily I have self discipline. If I buy something to hold. I hold it. I buy other stuff to rip with the family.
@@TimBCampbell2 I’m saying if you did the people mad about you hoarding sealed product wouldn’t have anything to complain about. I guess I wasn’t clear enough
@@marcburch2633 i understand what you are saying. 💯 truth.
HELP! MY TINFOIL HAT GOT STUCK
As I’ve said before - drown out the haters and HOOOOLLDDD.
Getting ready to shower and leave my house after months hibernating for d day on Jan 17 for the release of prismatic evolution
FOLKKKKKKKKS! Let's go golfing soon and not talk about Pokemon for a day lol
Prismatic pull rates looking super rough.

If you plan to hold 5 years no matter what price shouldn’t matter. Seems like most people in this hobby never been in the stock market.
A lot of the people who’ve been around for a few years can and are educating and changing the hobby for the better. Videos and discussions like this help a lot. 💪🏼👏
There is no such thing as shortage in supply.
Idk why but for some reason i feel judged, my wife walked in on me replying the beginning of the video saying FOLKS out loud. She dont know whats up though I think i nailed it. FOLKS!
100% agree man!! I've been seeing those comments here and there 🙄
Timmy logic:
When stonks are down: "You guys are idiots for buying pokemon cards at the bottom, this children's card game will keep crashing."
When stonks are up: "You guys are evil buying up all the product thats why the hobby so expensive now."
Absolutely 💯
Im more on the collecting side, i love collecting certain sets or certain cards. I get the investing side, its not what im into personally, but nothing wrong with it. My only issue comes from scalpers pretending to be "inventors", scamming their way through all the product, causing issues for genuine inventors or collectors, then running away when their instant profits cant be acquired
I like what one local LGS did for their preorders.....if you didnt preorder during Shrouded, then they dont honor the Prismatic preorder, because they want as close to honest collectors or inventors to come through them. Maybe the wrong way to do it, but I thought it was good
Hey man - really appreciate the straight-forward honesty of the videos. I'm getting frustrated with everyone wanting to find reasons why what everyone else is doing within the Pokemon universe is bad... except for them.
My booster boxes and slab inventory is booming right before front row card show. BROKE 👏 FOLKS 👏 STAY 👏 MAD
Then they blame the average investor for having any position in the product!
the singles are actually super cheap as well rn ive been getting these illustration rares at really good prices and they just keep going up
Alex out here showing people how to make money doing something we all love.
Classic Thanos level evil mastermind behavior.
@@wing08888 i understand where you're coming from..
If you want to stock up on a card you are now "market manipulating". If you want to master a set you are deemed a "scalper". If you want to resell something to buy something else for your collection and are actually a huge fan they will say "flipper".
I've just started my sealed collection three months ago. Soooo happy I did when I did 😅
My Zard UPC up, lost origin ETB up, my OBF etb. 🎉😂
I messed up a guy at costco. Not over pokemon cards, but because he had a Timmy name tag on! #Justice4Alex
I enjoy having a sealed collection trying to make money here and there and buying 20 to 30 bucks worth of packs a week to open
Screw the prices…I can’t watch a NN video anymore without 5 different Whatnot ads.
Its crazy to see how people who take financial risk are the bad guys when they get a benefit
Yo we need that pokemart stream. Thanks
The secret meaning of this video was Alex trying to get everyone to buy shrouded fable since its the only thing in stock everywhere!!!
Nailed it!!
Don’t ever sell anything 🤫 🥃
